Be strong! Disappointments is a part of life. So I'd advise you to be philosophical about it. You can actually try again.
Miirrahh:
I called, and I was asked to send a mail. I did send a mail, and I received a response stating that my visa was refused under section 214(b) ( no close ties to home). I wasnt even asked any question in that area.
I was just asked 2 questions, and that was it. It's so unfair!

Your technical jargon is allowed during the interview, but make sure if asked "What is DMAIC?" You can break down the word. Use curriculum in the place of schedule. Then, "Wayne State University (department of your program) offer technical leadership skills to its students for immediate entrance into high-tech global market, which significantly give me a background to take on leadership role when I return to Nigeria. Additionally, Wayne State University tuition fee is significantly lower, compare to other schools I applied to. My sponsor can afford it. "
Goodluck

Jerido:
Please your correction is highly needed. Thanks.

Why Wayne State University?
Ans: Wayne state University Provides a unique balanced research activities in Lean manufacturing, Six-Sigma, and DMAIC Methodology and the school Course contents and Schedule resonates with the intent of my studies. It also provide the technical the leadership skills to its students to immediately serve them in a diversified and high-tech global market place in which this align with my career expectations.

It is also important to note that this could be a result of system error. For clarification, call the embassy line immediately. Make sure you call them today, or latest tomorrow morning. Then go to your pick up location on Friday to pick your passport.
Miirrahh:
Hello all, I attended my F1 visa interview today. The officer said she was going to hold on to my passport and financial statements. Barely 30mins later, I checked my visa status on the site, and it showed refused. I'm confused because she still has my passport and documents.

It was never about the statement. Even if the statement is not genuine, visa is still being issued. The issue is within the inside. Something is going on that is still oblivious to the guru on the street. They are watching and observing. Sooner or later, we will get to the root of the matter. I know the US embassy is trying to cast itself as unpredictable--to scare away the crowd, and give people a sense of "we will refuse you, no matter how hard you try." But we are observing!
Miirrahh:
Yes, the statement of account is genuine.

American embassy! huh huh huh angry Possibly the superior to the consular who interviewed you was not pleased, hence the refusal.
As per information I have, the consular at the counter have superiors inside that review list of visas granted. Until the superior give a go, visa will not be sealed on the passport. Why they do this, I am not sure. Call the US embassy line and speak with them.

Use A4. It's not the paper that will do the job, but the content on it.

Better be focus on what you're doing, or else, you will find yourself taking one step forward and two backward.
Stay committed; think about it every day, and don't give up when challenges arise or attempt to discourage you.
Those of you aspiring to study abroad, or just need the student visa to escape the calamity that has befallen Nigeria, define your purpose. Define it and make it your dream.

I just thought I'd share this piece of advise. I am free again and will be able to help with a few issues before I dsappear again. If you have questions, ask! If you are unsure, seek advise from those more experienced. If you can't put your thoughts together to write a scholarship- and GTA-winning essay and statement of purpose, contact me. This is my world!

Goodluck to you all!

Dad's sin? hahaha! cheesy cheesy cheesy
femi312:
Your Dad's sin will most likely be used against you. There is a reason your mom's visa was revoked. Your Dad didnt fulfil the requirements of his visa, the VO will most likely think you will do the same. However, if you don't give it a try you have lost. If you do, you can only win or lose. Also if you decide to keep mum about your Dad in the application, that will bite back in the future

hmmm. Fill the form as the case may be.
oma226:
Good Evening NL, I'm 22 years old with a bachelor degree in Geology. I've decided to go for another degree in Computer Science and I was offered admission. I've been refused a B1/B2 visa before together with my parent but when they decided to go without me, they were issued a VISA. They both travelled together, my dad stayed in the US and my mom came back to Nigeria. She has been travelling back and forth until recently when she was invited for reinterview about my dad and her VISA was revoked and was told to reapply on her own. Now I'm filling my DS-160 and there's a field about the information of my father which asked if he's in the US. Right now I filled it as YES and stated is Legal Status as Non-immigrant. I just want to know if it's the right thing to do and it won't blow back on my face. Moreso, my mom will be covering all financial expenses.
Any other information you feel I should know would be much appreciated also.
Thanks

WRITE A LETTER THAT YOU WANT TO DEFER TO YOUR SCHOOL. ASK THEM TO SEND UPDATED I-20 INDICATING YOU ARE ACCEPTED FOR FALL 2019. WHEN THE NEW I-20 ARRIVE, PAY YOUR SEVIS FEE.

Thanks man,

The two Universities are Touro College and University System, New York City, and National University, San Diego CA. I have actually chosen Touro College because I feel it's a better College than National University.

My Uncle assisted me in paying for my SEVIS fee last two days through money order. Unfortunately I am yet to get any US Homeland security confirming, and mailing me my receipt. How does it go please? How do I get my receipt because I haven't heard from them?

Are you being honest with your inquiries. I already smell immigrant intents from you.

Anyway, you approached us for an honest suggestion, and that would be that a graduate program would be your best bet. At 26, you could still be approved for an undergraduate program, but your chances of success are closer to 0 than 1.

Yes, changing information on your application will complicate your case. So you have been pull on a very slippery road, and you have got to thread carefully. What I will say is, you can reapply for another visa category upon the information used in previous application. You have been misrepresented, and this has given you a profile that's not actually yours. Without lies, both red and whites--traveling agents will be out of their office. I am sure the guy mean well and wanted to package you like a professional in the eyes of the consular, but unfortunately that did not work in your case. Why? I have no idea! You did not seek out what he was doing for you, and so, this is your case now.

You have limited options: you either build an F1 application on the old information, or keep paying visa fee for B1 visa (with 50/50 chance), or you get this path for now. This is critical decision you must make. Sorry young man!

Bros some first class are not typically an achievement especially those from private institutions. The real first class are those who graduated from a typical rigorus public institutions. There have been students with funding that got rejected. Funding or not, is not one of those big deals that determine your interview outcome. List the 2 schools that accepted you during the interview. That is enough. You don try! Prepare for interview, and give strong points. Goodluck!

Hello all,

Please I have a question that's begging for answers.
I want to go for a Master's program during the spring admission in the U.S. I applied to 5 Universities, I got admission into 2 of the Universities, while 3 denied me admission. The 2 Universities I got admission into are private Universities with no funding.

I want to ask, is it possible for someone to get an f-1 visa with a form i-20 from a private University, even after being denied admission from other reputable Universities?

The issue of sevis fee, my Uncle in the US paid the fee via money order. I just want to know how it goes like how long do I have to wait before I get the receipt so that I can apply for Visa?
Thank you.

You are 26, and I am surprised that you kept asking the same question over and over. Come on! You are a student! Your age, 26, is a barrier. Period! Consular will look at that during the interview and will not tell you. He will think you're running away. Then He'd make conclusion base on that. He may not even ask why you are just going for an undergraduate program; he would just decide without you knowing.

Now, get the fact right: there have been exceptions in visa interview outcome. Before, I used to see students of 25, 26, 27 28 and even 30 years granted visa for first degree; I was once a part of a 29 years old applicant's application. He was denied twice, but granted the third time. He left in 2015, and told me he has received his work permit last month. But these days, it is rare. Things are changing very fast. The Oyibo are looking for means to beat the old system that guys had used to get the visa. But then, there is room for Miracle! But I cannot say this room is available for you at this point in time; only God can. Search your heart and listen to your intuition, but ponder on the fact, too. Goodluck!

Baggiopreshy:
Please I need you to understand what am trying to say. Guys that is at the age of 18,19,20 have a better chance of getting a visa when they go for Bsc degree program in usa. Am not saying it all easy and am 26 I just want to know my chances if I go for a Bsc degree program. I just want to know if my age is a barrier for using a Bsc...
Travel › Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by fairheart(m): 12:42pm On Oct 04, 2018
Go ahead, but prepare to offer strong response to interview questions. What you say earns you more points in getting the visa than what what statement of account will. If you have been following up transcript on here, you'd notice that statement of account is requested for ONLY after 90% of successful interview response by the student.

These days, when a consular ask for your SOA, he has made up his/her mind to approve your visa. So, put yourself together and write down personally tailored response to possible questions. Goodluck!
