T-smooth: I actually go to my village regularly. I have a house there, many people from my ethnic group don't go home because dem dey fear witch. Ignorant fools!!!! People like you and my ignorant relatives make Nigeria what it is, you are waiting for a miracle to improve your life and any setback you blame on witches. The day they make special ssistamt or commissioner, etc you will be so corrupt, why because you will believe it is your time and you have overcome the witches and wizards. Rather than work hard and use good ideas to better yourself you are looking for old women or young children to blame. When they accuse your mother, sister and daughters maybe then you will see the error of your backward ways. 2 Likes |

Wallie: Scary how people are just so quick to blame the US for their dog eating poo instead of eba! Let’s try to recap the facts as it happened: True word And since the Russians have taken over how much have they actualy produced? They blame lack of power, yet they say they have their own power plant. It obvious inconivance with corrt Nigerian officials these Russians bought this plant at half the price the Americans were prepared to pay. To those my US hating friends, which company would rather work for; Chevron or Gazprom? For once our courts have been able to take a brave decision and Russia starts diplomatic pressure, can this be right? |

2buff: Because Nigerian credit cards and destination shipping are still not globally accepted yet on the Internet since their revocation years back. Rubbish and baseless sentiment, Nigeria didn't have international recognised credit cards years ago because our exchange And banking laws did not allow it. The yahoo yahoo boys you complain about are usually based in US or UK from where they send their ill gotten property to Nigeria. Current Nigerian cards don't work usually because of incompatible address and inability for ecommerce sites to verify the cards. These cards are good and easy to use in foreign countries either via ATM or in the retail outlets sometimes they don't work because of network problems. We are so quick to make statements on sentiments. 2 Likes |

hercules07: In the 80s traffic on Ikorodu road used to be hell in the mornings, it was usually so bad on the Jibowu to Yaba bridge that my dad would be reading his papers while driving (never liked that as I dreaded him hitting vehicles), the trains moved like clock work too, infact, whenever we went for center around apapa road, I will walk down to Iddo to join the trains moving at 2pm or 4pm from Iddo to Agege dropping on the way. The odd and even numbers also helped to decongest the roads, though people got around it by having the PRESS sticker. The odd and even number started in 1977 in time for the FESTAC 77, it was meant as temporary solution. Odd & even was the brain child of the first OBJ regime. Then all Federal ministries where on the Island, whilst in 1976, the state capital was moved from Lagos Island to Ikeja when the 19 states were created. I was already in secondary school then, so make una greet me properly 4 Likes 1 Share |

I tried to instill in my children the culture of hard work, smart work, dignity in labour and ultimately contentment. Having lived through Irangate, watergate, having studied socio-economic politics of the mid to late 20th century, I cannot begin to start an arguement with you here, other than to say fortunately we leave a free society which allows us have our views.Between you and the young Nigerian who believes in ' my time will come philosophy' or 'settle culture'. I would grudgingly chose you, even though many of your arguments are flawed, your heart is in the right place. Perhaps when you are older (this is not meant as condescending) you will realize that there is no grand conspiracy, there is no room where 10 or 12 white people gather together to control world, and better to still you may come to realize that some of those that you now consider heroes also have their own agendas which often do not include any betterment for people like you and I. |

Pukkah: Young man try to think outside the confines of this 'closed Nigerian society'. Because we rely almost totally on oil for our FX, hence the government via Central Bank can control FX. If you, Mr Pukkah are based in Lagos or PH and I, Mr Faithin9ja based in Houston Texas, decide to use your IT skills to build a website for me, you do the job online, I pay you $5000 for the job, would you really want the Nigerian government to restrict your access to the $5000? wouldn't you like to go to a bank or BDC and exchange those dollars for the best rate available? In more economically developed societies the government does not control how much money flows in and out of the country |

justirich: Dear Nigerians, the reasons for mass failure of our teenagers in public exams are not far fetched. Rubbish!!!! every generation believes the younger generation is in a worse position. Just because you grew up without a television that means our children should not have a television? The world is evolving, our parents, (I am almost 50) decried the fact we listened to hip hop & disco music. They didn't know shalamar, kool and the gang or public enemy, now my children listen to D'banj & P square. We watched videos, my children play video games, we read comics, now children are their own heroes in the comics (ie video games). We all pretend to come from nuclear family - mummy, daddy and 3 to 5 children. Past generations made us believe that was the correct way, however in real life we all have half brothers and sisters. My mama pickin, my papa pickin, my papa wife, etc When I was growing up there were 13 universities in Nigeria, now there are over 50 (albeit some of dubious quality) The youth of today are the ones who are bring new technology and developments to society. In my grandparents generation, the few who were encouraged to go to school, were encouraged to be teachers, court clerks and administrators. The next generation wanted their children to be doctors, lawyers or engineers, in the modern world we expect our children IT gurus, entertainers, top sports people, even a top newscaster. So stop knocking the youth, the world is changing 8 Likes |

kiyosaki1: The BDC operators are killing our economy. Was ounce interested in the business, and was alarmed at the amount of fraud going on in this sector. The BDC operator must bring documents backing his demand to the CBN I.e for you to buy dollars from them its either you have a company that needs to imports goods and services,or raw materials for its production or you are a student or traveling out of the country and needs BTA. So what do these BDC guys do they simply this a free society, government has no right to tell me what to do with my money or my dollars, I exchange my naira for dollars, if I like I 'smoke' the dollars. BDC job is to provide FX to those that want it, it not the BDC job to ask you what you want to do with you dollars you have bought from them. You cannot blame the BDC. If the government decides to go back to the totalitarian centralist control that has failed in the past, then the government to should place restrictions on what you can use for dollars for; we have our own schools so no need for school fees abroad, we have Aba factories so no need to import shoes, we have cassava bread, so no need to import wheat, and so and so forth. But these policies have never worked in the past. But it's not the BDC's fault. |

Burger01: this is to test your analytical and lateral thinking - answer I can put approximately 15 golf balls in packet of St louis sugar, I can put 20 boxes of St Louis sugar in a Peak milk carton, and approximately 600 peak milk cartons will fit in a bus, 3 width x 10 height x 20 length. 15 x 20 x 600 = 180,000 Most likely very wrong but it's the thought process that matters 1 Like 1 Share |

queensmith: Being a 'pagan' doesn't mean you must believe juju. It means you worship the gods of your fore fathers. I don't believe FELA believed in juju to magic or create harm but he believed in following the religion of his ancestors. The 'oyibo' wizard as long as his decision making is not guided by his beliefs, then he can carry on. but if like the majority of the people on this thread, he lives in fear of 'juju', then his, like those on this thread will have warped sense of reasoning |

ochallo: there are 2 branches of Bank PHB on the road where my office is. The day the declared it was now Mainstreet bank customers were attending the bank as per normal. Ii even paid in over N300,000 into a customer's account. He did not panic or tell me to pay into another bank. Do you think if Atuche was still there today that there would be anything like Bank PHB or mainstreet. The bank would have collapsed, all the staff would have lost their jobs and depositors lost their money, the only happy people would be the major owners and directors including the Atuche and Co. Bank directors treated these banks like their private property and depositors money like their father's money. We are now blaming the person who clean up the mess. |

queensmith: The Oyibo people that practise homeopathy (which as you know is just unproven herbal medicine), horoscopes, occultism are also all rubbish and not only does their rubbish not work, they to contribute nothing to society. These type of foolish Oyibo are in the minority, whereas in Africa and Nigeria this kind of foolish thinking is in the majority, how can we progress, when even a research lecturer will not do anything in his life without first 'consulting' , you expect such a person to invent something meaningful. Any of my staff who bring this backward thinking to my business, I get rid of. |

How can the Blackman progress? When our educated Internet savvy youth are arguing on the merits and effacy of 'juju'. How are any of you better than the 85 year old man in the village who has never seen a large town? Tomorrow you will be sending your CV to Shell, Cadbury, KPMG, trying to get a world class job that will send around the world, yet in your small minds believe somebody in the village is 'doing' you. Oyibo will continue to make their societies better, whilst we wallow in ignorance. Scared of our own shadows. Instead of thinking how we will stop someone with an AK47 or bomb blowing up my church on a Sunday, I am scared of an old man with a calabash in the village. By the way before you think this somebody who doesn't he is talking about, I have lived a full life, my parents have taken me to all type of native doctors, juju men, we attended 'cele' , Sat gurhuru maharaj, Pentecostal, etc all na rubbish 1 Like |
