Politics / Re: We’ll Resist Fuel Subsidy Removal – TUC by faithin9ja: 1:08pm On Jun 04, 2015
quote author=barcanista post=34415474]I supported the resistance for the removal of subsidy in 2012 because there wasn't any palliative on ground in the first instance and it will create room for the marketers to RIP Nigerians to silly, which will affect our living, shut down jobs and cause a big blow to the economy.

I will resist the removal by Buhari except palliatives are provided. It is not about politics this time but about livelihood.[/quote]

Palliative for what
do we have palliative for foodstuff or medicines?
do we have palliative for telecommunications?
we must we have palliative for fuel?

A nation where most people do NOT pay tax yet we want free fuel or reduced fuel why? we you give out free things those dividing the free items will claim some from themselves (just check yourself as a young man distributing drinks at your senior brother's wedding, didn't you keep drinks for yourself and your friends?),so the cabal or just doing what is natural, no amount of law or Buhari will stop , they will always find a way to pocket subsidy for themselves.

No subsidy
No government refinery
if we can't afford to buy the fuel , then everybody stay at home and the Dangote and Oando, Otedola, Ubah, etc with their proposed private refinery will drink their own fuel.

how many other African countries subsidise their fuel? yet they don't have people queuing for days to buy fuel in Ghana or even Kenya

I wonder why many churches kept doin this, and is some times boring. I believe 1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons. has it all

Because most Pentecostals and Prayers warriors do NOT believe in Jesus. They will continue to preach and pray with old Jewish mantra from the Old Testament to support their arguments and subsequent long prayers.

You have quoted Jesus response to long prayers, this is totally ignored by my so-called prayer warriors.

See the somebody's answer below, and this person will say he or she is a Christian too?

Everything depends on the extent of your spiritual knowledge and attainment. Long prayer is necessary when the minister of the gospel or child of God is preparing her/himself in solitude. When ministering, or handling a problem, in the public, prayer should be very short. In fact, it should be more of decreeing (Job 22:28). The decree will be done if you built up enough divine power in you while you prepared in solitude.

Politics / Re: Obasanjo And Buhari While Commissioning Warri Refinery In 1978 (Photo) by faithin9ja: 1:34pm On Feb 05, 2015
BUHARI DID NOT BUILD ANY REFINERY - he merely commissioned what other people had started.

A lot of people have been circulating false information about the Warri refinery and I decided to carry out a simple research today.
Warri refinery was not built by Obasanjo and Buhari.

In 1974, BEICIP, an international company based in Paris carried out feasibility study on the refinery.
The contract to build the refinery was awarded in 1975 to Snamprogetti Spa of Milan , Italy.
The design capacity of the refinery was 100,000 bpd and the project duration was 30 months
Warri Refinery was commissioned in 1978.

Buhari was Governor of Northeastern State between August 1975 and March 1976, He was not the Minister of Petroleum until Obasanjo regime. Warri is in the Southern part of the country so he cannot claim he built it as Governor of NE.
"In March 1976, the then Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo appointed Buhari as the Federal Commissioner (position now called Minister) for Petroleum and Natural Resources. When the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation was created in 1976, Buhari was also appointed as its Chairman, a position he held until 1978."

Obasanjo was not the president at that time. Gowon was president from 1 August 1966 – 29 July 1975.
Murtala Mohammed came afterwards.
At no time was Obasanjo in charge of Petrol ministry during the period the refinery was conceptualised, Buhari was also not Minister of Petroleum so both of them should stop claiming any glory for it. All they did was to cut the tape.

Both of them have had opportunities to build but failed to.
Obasanjo as Head of state between 1976 and 1979.
Buhari as Head of State between 1984 and 1985.
Obasanjo as President and Minister of Petroluem between 1999 and 2007.
Buhari as executive chairman of PTF during the Abacha dictatorship era.

Do not be deceived. A lie told many times tends to become truth. Nigeria has 4 refineries.

Alesa-Eleme (PH 1); built by Shell, construction started 1963 and completed 1965
Warri Refinery; Construction started 1975, completed 1978
Kaduna Refinery; Chiyoda Engineering and Construction Company, awarded by Murtala Mohammed in 1976 and completed in 1979
Port Harcourt 11; awarded by IBB in 1985, completed in 1989

None was awarding during his tenure as Minister, Executive chairman or president.

You can check the links I provided and don't fall for those pictures they claim refineries were commissioned.

Yes....the benefits of an oil dependent society....a valueless currency!

Modified at 10.48 am

I keep on saying this...Nigeria has to forget about oil...and go into manufacturing. We may not see the beenfits now...but we will see it in the future. If we had continued on the path of manufacturing....we could have had a higher GDP...and more revenues...and a stronger currency.

But the problem with Nigerians is that they prefer stomach infrastructure things. So, govt has to find quick money to share...and yes...oil money is the answer.

But it has been used to hide the fact that we are a poor country. We do not have enough resources. And countries that do not have lots of resources do either of two things...invest in industrial and technical development(like China, Korea, Finland, Germany, etc)...or forever remain aid dependent.

It may sound like I am building castles in the sky when I say Nigeria can become industrialsed....but the fact is we have high unemployment...and we have a growing population....and the resources are few. Industrial development will provide jobs for many....and resources for welfare projects.

And what have you manufactured?
Politics / Re: How Does GMB Intend To Fight Corruption If Elected ?? by faithin9ja: 11:30am On Dec 27, 2014
Buhari does not seem to articulate how he will fight corruption. Unfortunately we Nigerians set up systems that are prone to corruption and we hail those policies.

One example - contraband goods, successive governments regularly ban and unban goods usually in the name of supporting local industry or saving foreign exchange. Any banned goods are always available openly in our markets and customs men and women grow fat on bribes. We encourage our children to get jobs in customs because there is money there.

Tell me how does Buhari or Goodluck stop this type of corruption?

Remove government from much of our daily lives and corruption will naturally fall. Is there corruption in the garri market? Or telecos? Compare corruption in MTN that of NITEL?

Please, please can we Nigerians learn to read questions and give proper answers. Is the question who is acceptable to Nigerians or who is better? So far all the answers above are surrounded 'who is acceptable' rather than 'who is better'.

Personally I would like to read an intelligent post on who is better Tambuwal or Buhari, for that matter add Atiku and Okoroacha to the equation. Who will make a better candidate and subsequently a better president?

Who has the better policies and manifesto, the better CV, the better ability to carry out their manifesto.

So far I am 'clueless' on all these candidates (with the exception of Buhari whom I understand is a good corruption fighter apparently, don't know how intends to fight corruption in the our democratic setting though)

Why would they want to use 'Nigeria' ? see how British Airways calls themselves BA- the world airline.

They build a good names for themselves the whole world will know their pedigree without having to attach the name Nigeria - if they are smart they will be known as that great airline from Nigeria.

Why should the Federal Government not subsidise public transport so market women, petty traders, secondary school children can travel cheaper?

Have you forgotten so soon the debacle with fuel subsidy?

Let the private sector deal with air travel, government role is just to make sure the travel is 100% safe.

A National carrier does nothing to help aviation business, probably the biggest single country aviation industry is the United States, what is the America national carrier?

Vanity vanity all is vanity. less than 10% of Nigerians can partake in air travel, please let us have 70% of our roads as good as German roads first. Let the private sector sort out aviation.

Its laughable the comments being made on 'proposed routes and airfares ' by people who don't have a clue how much aviation fuel costs, how much it costs to lease a plane, how much it costs to pay a crew, how much is the different airport tax, how many potential passengers there are on the so-called profitable Lagos -London route.

For your information we do not have more than 5 direct flights from Lagos to London daily, that's is less than 3000 passengers, meanwhile there are no less than 40 flights a day from London to New York and you want to compare?

Kenya airways and Ethiopian are pretty profitable. Emirates (despite being a "govt corporation"wink is quite profitable too.

So our models should be Kenya and or Ethopia? Emirates, Ethical and the other Gulf airlines are 'vanity' models owned by billionaire country leaders such as their ownership of Manchester City.

Nigeria does NOT need a national carrier, any private business that thinks it can run a profitable and SAFE airline can do so, it does not need any identity with Nigeria.

Our prestige venture should be the best health care in Africa not airline that 90% of the people will never use.

All the above comments are foolish and ignorant. Why did we need a so-called national carrier, what stupid pride are projecting. Let's feed the whole country first, provide electricity and security, then we can be proud.

Name any country with a profitable national carrier? The richest, most peaceful countries don't have National carriers but they still have functioning aviation services with decent airports.

Denmark, United States, Argentina, Britain, Spain, Belgium, Mexico, Italy name their national carriers (please don't name the private sector airlines that have no business with the government)
