Elsueno: Stop using countries like Sudan, Afghanistan and Nigeria when doing comparisons. It might interest you to know those countries( except naija) have being long in existence b4 the mighty US of A became a country You are bringing up rich countries that practise sharia forgetting that they all have something in common which is a small population and massive oil wealth. Republic of Afghanistan - established 17 July 1973 Sudan - established 1 January 1956 Don't bullshit me please. I don't know why you are bringing America into this, better stay on topic. |

omenka: Some of you sound pretty ignorant and seem so proud of it.
Who says signing one's death warrant is equivalent to executing them?
Your death warrant could be signed yet you may still live on appeal for decades. It happens and that would be the case here as well. Forget all the optics. It won't happen. Are you even listening to yourself? He is being denied access to his lawyers, northern Muslims are clamouring for his death. I know because they party you support is involved you will pick favourites but think about this for once. |

omenka: Frkm the day that stuff took off in Zamfara, I knew it would cause more harm than good, given that our Supreme constitution is secular in nature.
The country was still fairly naiive, organized and unified when Yerima pushed for and succeeded in implementing it in his state. I'm very sure given how suspicious of one another and fractured we've become, especially along religious lines, if a law of this nature were to be introduced today, the chances of success even in predominantly Muslim state would be extremely slim.
Notwithstanding, PERHAPS, the Sharia system in itself isn't a retrogressive one by nature as we can cite countries such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, making such giant strides in all spares of human endeavour, yet having Sharia Law as their criminal justice system. But you know the thing with Nigeria, always unique in our own nature, but sadly, almost always in a negative way. The only thing keeping those countries afloat is oil. Remove the oil and sharia states descend into chaos just like Sudan and Afghanistan. |

izzou: But Omenka, why do we have the Sharia law existing alongside ours?
Is that even right sef? No normal person would accept sharia law because it directly contradicts the Nigerian constitution and sets a precedent where all sorts of ridiculous contradictions to the law will be accepted because enough people believe in imaginary tales. |

Sanchez01: It is audible to the deaf and visible to the blind that the group is sponsored by one of the nominees. But politics isn't played this way and power won't be dropped on anyone's laps come 2023.
This is the exact same mindset of Ohaneze (youth and adult branch), politicians of the South East and a sizeable amount of the South East people but it is delusional to believe that an automatic pass be granted a particular area because they haven't tried before.
The funniest part of it all is that all of the nominees are featherweight and won't even win elections in their state hands down if they run under the APC. Moghalu looks good to me but he is not sellable even in his own state and region.
The South East is playing the 2023 politics the wrong way. No strategy, no power candidate and none of them is influential to pull a miracle outside of the South East. And then there is the issue of trust the North has towards... The most realistic analysis I've seen. |

techmo: Misinformation, social media fraud, fake news, inciteful social media post this are current problems the world is dealing with, having a legal framework on prosecuting crimes relating to online crimes is a good move
. We already have laws against those, you can only fight lies with the truth, where things are unclear whoever controls the media now has the power to decide what the truth is. Now any news critical of the government will be branded as fake so they can fine and imprison people. With a society run my rabid Islamists it's not too unrealistic that anyone criticising their crazy laws will be branded as a peddler of fake news and prosecuted accordingly. |

Bkayyy: Looking at his first reported speech ; He said, “What happened is so important to the state and to the security of the state and the nation in general. What the Court did is absolutely right. And we support it completely. Such kind of irresponsible act, if not because of the state power, nobody could know what would happen in the future,” he said.
Can somebody explain to me how "Blasphemy" affect the security of a state or nation in general? The followers religion of peace will get irate and kill anyone and destroy anything that is even a little bit offensive to them. |
