Losing 28 birds, I don't think your birds are battling only crd and pox, maybe visible ones you're able to see, besides are you even sure it's pox? How does it look like? Does it have black spot surface?
Did you treat coccidiosis? What of vaccine? It even looked like you're using the worst feed that people were suggesting a bad feed for an improvement. Vital feed is bad.
Refined sawdust can be used but not the ones you pack from people's shops, those ones are terrible.

I normally start with Newhope feed then at 3weeks I mill feed using concentrate and they eat night and day with constant supply of drugs mixed water, if I'm to withdraw feed from them, it won't be up to 3hours.

Thank you for your feedback. I made a lot of mistake as this is my first time. Mine was a disaster. I started in smaller scale of 51 birds. I have lost 28 broilers already through respiratory diseases and fowl pox..

One by one they will just stop lost appetite, stop eating and keep dying. At first I tried to get much information on this as much as I can. But unfortunately I did not meet anyone with helpful info.

I also got a wrong advice from women, who told me to mix their feed with corn chaff which was a huge mistake. Before I stop using corn chaff I have lost more than 25 birds. Someone also directed me to be using vital feed

I am also using sawdust which I need to stop asap. I never thought sawdust is dangerous to their health.

Right now I am battling to save them with a drug called (CRD) and (Poxline1) for fowl pox. Their is is watery, filled with mucus. It was not so at first.

My last question is, how many times do you feed your birds? I feed mine 3-4 times daily.

Corn chaff is bad only when you do not dry it properly. This will cause mold to grow and produce toxins that will cause thrush and aspergillosis. Mouldy sawdust is also bad for the same reason.

If you want fast growth, feed shud be available at all time, else you can get more feeders and fees 2x per day.

Also note that you can save yourself a lot of headache if you minimize ammonia from droppings. It lowers their immune system and make them fall for diseases. So keep the house clean and DRY. Fowlpox and other diseases can be transmitted by mosquitoes. So spray insecticide like imidacloprid on the walls of the pen and surroundings.

Fowlpox. Give her antibiotic like neoceryl and multivit. It she can't see the feed, feed her by holding a feed pan in front of her and pushing her beak into the feed. Also apply Vaseline to it and peel it. Iodine will also help.

You slaughtered your local fowls out of FEAR of outbreak of diseases or whatsoever... And you most likely did so because of the testimonies you've HEARD.
I pay very detail attention to my birds (both local and Hybrid), and I am not the type that wait for them to start dying or falling sick before administering drugs (mostly organic) to them.

Mind you, our compound is a fenced one, meaning I don't allow them to crossover and mingle with other fowls in the neighborhood.

And in this same compound, I've successfully reared both foreign turkeys and broilers.

If you understand how diseases are transferred, you won't argue with what I said. So long as wild birds fly in and out of your compound, there are diseases there. Google "farm biosecurity measures."

And when I say " large scale", I mean from 1000 birds upward. You are still practicing small scale and so you may go free until you try large scale.

It would likely be aspergillosis or sour crop due to mouldy feed. Both have respiratory symptoms and are fungal diseases. So antibiotics won't be effective.

Aspergillosis is untreatable. It can only be prevented by avoiding mouldy feed, mouldy sawdust/litter and dirt/feces in feed and water. Sour crop can be treated as follows:
Treat with anti-fungal Nystatin for 5 days.

Add a probiotic supplement to feed.

Add copper sulphate to water.

It can back fire on the long run. Things like this is why many people fail when they try to expand. A lot of things you ignore and get away with at small scale will haunt you at large scale.

I think the most important thing is net profit made per bird. They might be making more profit considering feed prices.

At this level of 4wks u achive 0.9kg average weight it means that by 8wk u will looking at 3kg cos from now feed conversion rate is higher tham 1-2wks congrats once again
