Some farmers abuse drugs. They may not follow the recommended withdrawal period before selling. Organic ones are good, but it is risky and consumers cannot pay the price.

Up till now okro was the shortest duration I knew of…also 6 weeks. But cucumber is also a great idea.

Broilers as at today 19 September 2022 is on the all time highest price ever 700-740 per bird with prospect of moving higher , this is not the best time for poultry farmers even feed price is very high and if you take a look at 2015 all time broiler highest prices then it was around #150 per bird the question now is buying broilers at this 700-740 , buying feed at high cost what will be selling price during the Christmas sales , hmmmm
Can people buy broilers for 12-15k per bird?

Some farmers now dilute the feed with PKC, maize chaff etc.

Pls, tell him that mixing broiler and turkeys is a no-no. They can infect each other with deadly diseases without being affected by the disease.

Tapoline for roofing is because of cost I guess it ok for now but it may not last for more than 8months cos of direct sun ,so u can use it for now and try and wash d walls of d rooms in ur pics

I have always had the intention of going into crop farming. Crops with shorter periods of harvest- maize, Okro etc. Also vegetable farming

Mainly cucumber, plantain/banana and sweet potatoes Leafy vegetables too. My pawpaw plantation now old and dying off. I have replaced a lot of them with plantains.

Cucumber is the shortest duration crop I know. Just 6 weeks.

I'm base in crop farming for now. My mum does broiler. She sell to both middle men and direct to consumers.

To avoid spread of diseases, local chickens were all eliminated. They raise about 2* noilers. Still testing the ground.

If you know how to prevent and control diseases in a timely manner, it is not that risky. Cleanliness also matters a lot. What many farmers don't know is that ammonia smell from their poop can trigger a lot of diseases. It lowers their immune system. Mosquitoes can also cause diseases, including the dreaded wet form of fowl pox (not the dry form that cause external scabs).

Generally, many animal farmers have the mindset of "Na just animals". You cant make it with that kind mindset.

Scarce due to high demand. People here in the North are breeding Noers now by themselves. They buy ftom Amo, and hatch their eggs. Once dey do that, they don't bother going back to Amo for a long while.

My mum have some noilers now laying. They send the eggs to a hatchery to be hatched for a small fee. Seems like this will cause bad business for the main hatcheries if people go this route.

My own experience as a maize farmer and a cassava farmer will be enough to write two textbooks.
The point is, never put your head especially where people with no practical experience are shouting how lucrative a venture is.

From my experience, selling broilers is not a big deal. Demand is excess anytime of the year. May be it depends on location.

Rearing for that long is less profitable commercially. There is also risk of death.

Why do I love water bodies and wind so much? It is because of things like this. If I can construct a dam across a small stream, that would be free electricity for me.

So bad. I don't know why people in riverine areas don't have life jackets. Even to make them from simple tyre tubes. If you don't know how to swim and you are journeying by river without life jacket, then you don't love ur life.

Everything is not in the bible. But with the Holy Spirit, we get guidance on how to live our lives. E.g. don't smoke or watch open isn't in the bible exactly. But from verses that condemns self-harm and sexual immorality, the Holy Spirit teach us that those things are evil.

Grasscutter is a fast reproducing animal and starts mating with 7 months after birth. It gives birth twice yearly and produce 4-9 at a time. That means, if you have 100 females that gives birth twice in a year, you would be having 900 to 1,500 in your farm within just a year! The plan is just to roast the soybean, mix with all other ingredients and serve. I see some videos where the farmers didn't need to mash the feed. I believe they have strong beaks and would be fine.

I plan to let it be for at least a year. We will just be dressing it with a shovel.

Isn't this a deep litter system? I think deep litter means housing them in a coop without no battery cages?

What I'm saying is that if you use the wrong sand (fine grains) it may be disastrous due to impacted crop.
