look very well and you will see the problem with the Building Materials. Na only WAPCO get something to offer. Bonus na the only thing that can move the price well. Unfortunately, that look slim at least for now. BCC, CCNN will likely have a drop in profit so nothing really to move them. Ashaka too may face the same problem.

For WAPCo, after many people landed in clinic after speculating with it, people are a bit cautious now.

Make you just overlook that sector

You should know that BOC and Vitafoam result WILL be the first to come out. This will be followed by NBC and Ashaka. So start with those ones to get first movers advantage.
I be wan mention the name before. Easimoni be wan fire am,
as you don come mention e name now,na bai bai to WAPCO.
You know this year many expected a bonus which didn't come thru, but that na manufacturer always wishy washy with manufacturers anything can happen.I would normally buy and get my percentage. That's all i want, nothing more JUST MY PERCENTAGE.Result or no result.
Its only when a bank is involved and the air is thick with rumour bonus like Union and Zenith, that i'll stick on for the ride.
But there could be hope for WAPCO.I want to ride on that hope unitl the announcement is due.

For the insurance stocks i'm not looking at them too much now.
Every sector get season for NSE. Their season dey come.
Right now i'm getting set for 1st quarter 08 releases.
As you must know by now.
MOST OF THE MONEY IN NSE IS MADE IN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF THE YEAR.
So i want to soak up as much juice as possible.
But one building material company is proving stubborn for me right now,its trying to defy the "END OF YEAR EFFECT".

@yodiyokun

Someone mentioned this to me last week. This intercontinental reconstruction.
They'll need to reconstruct before a bonus.
I read in the papers that there is a rumour of some favourable cooperate action by year end for this intercontinental.
But for the moment, the strongest gist i have now is the share reconstruction coming soonest.
TS could be in the offing.

You see the wahala now!!!! People need to know there risk profile before they jump into a particular strategy. We are different so our strategies will be different.

FatherOF2, this is one of your best post. Whyhuh Even though you talked about 25% in one week you are willing to wait for 3 months if things don't pan out well. I'm sure the 2.5m that you staked in FCMB is not up to half of your portfolio. Why? Risk analysis. Diversification.

Unfortunately, not many people understand this. They just swallow the 25% hook line and sinker. When things don't pan out well within one week, they want to commit suicide. Don't forget that some of them took margin facility for 90 days so the margin for error is limited. Some don't know that with all the FUNDAMENTAL and TECHNICAL analysis the market can be crazy in the short term!!!!

Glad that you came out to show that LEVELS are not the same and that we get LIVER pass one another. Tell your students to develop liver like you before starting to swim in the deep sea or else they will be thrown to the SHARKS!!! They also need to know the importance of VOLUME with your strategy.

Abeg when you go change the username to FatherOF3huh?

E be like you just dey wait for my post to FIRE.
On one hand,i no get students.Every(SINGLE)body on this thread is a student.
And i think everyone on this thread already has liver, because every stock you buy into is a risk.

@ father of 2, your yoyo from fcmb to gtb and back to fcmb is a bit ambitious, i would just stick with FCMB till the end. it has better fundamentals than gtb(for now).
if i get 45%, i am out . beginning to look at the insurance sector more carefully
Lie lie, i go yoyo well well.
See something, some stocks have a period of inactivity.
I give you an example of two stocks i buy and sell year on year.
RT Briscoe and PZ.
In 06' i bought PZ at 16 sold at 22,fine it rose to 25
dormant for like 7-8months (do you think i dey sleep for these 8 months)
until the right time came again this year, bought at 27 sold at 35.1.
Wey PZ now. I'll hop back in same time in 08.
And like i said recently,i'm shopping this week and RT Briscoe is on my shopping list as usual.
When you follow a strict disciplined pattern coupled with volume on every deal,it pays BIG TIME.
Get your timing right.

Whether you buy low share or high share price, its your percentage gain that matters.
Right now Oceanic still remains attractive for a last minute hurdle.

If you are cosidering a whole sector, insurance stocks probably have the best chance of highest returns next year. This is because these companies are still small and have just started growing. However, I think we won't see 75% or 100% capital appreciation compared to today's prices until these companies start releasing their half year results. Good results.

As it was already noted, not every insurance stock will do so well, so carefully selecting at least 2 or 3 stocks will be the way to minimize the chance of missing out.

Personally, I am not focusing on any particular sector because I think I can find individual stocks in some other sectors that will outperform a bit of the insurance stocks. I am not so versatile with the sector dynamics.
Dear pumping

I can see you're being pushed to make one insurance pick. grin grin grin grin

i'v bin reading u 4 some time.appreciate your contributns .bt don't u think buying wt premium is relative. imagine buyin access @ 21 premium,u must b double sure d stock will move ,which is not a certainty.if u shld buy on premium at all, i think u shuld ensure your deal has been crossed before payment is made as an operator ,i have seen things happenin wt premiums.so be careful sir.
You're right there,it can't apply to all.
But how someone go dey offer N21 for access when its available on the floor even on TS.
It would only apply in a case where its non existent on the floor.Such cases are becoming rare now. Those where the good old days when TS would last like 8-9months.People go suffer for long.
These days dynamics don dey change fast.
But so early in the game Aiico has very high bids. What do you do.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by FatherOF2: 8:08am On Dec 15, 2007
@kpineo,

I no dey too worry about the ones i have.
I got Aiico before the TS.
This one when bid full everywhere so,you may need to instruct your broker to offer a premium price to get it.
Maybe you can offer like 3.60.
When diamond was on TS for a long time at N11 plus early this year.My broker told me i could offer N14 to get it.I complained it was too high(the whole profit don go now). But lo and behold after TS the TIN fly pass N14.
Offer premium price you'll get.

how do you registewr for CSCS trade alert
http://www.nse-cscstradealert.com/
go to subscription.

That's the link, but note that from the day you register with cscs trade alert, your broker will suddenly become unfriendly.
There's another way they can dodge this. They'll do your trades in another name so you never get your trade alert.Trade alert never fails.
Its sent by 4pm daily.Insist that he does your transactions in your name.If your don't get any trade alert on the first transaction you make after the first acknowledgement text you get from trade alert, then he's not buying in your name, just to dodge the real price he either buys or sells.

Sorry i was out for a minute.Just give me two minutes.i'll forward the trade alert link to you so you register online. But
you'll need your cscs account number ready along with your broker code.Call your broker for his code.
Its usually the antonym for his full company name.

@nateevs

no you can't open a cscs account without your broker signing the identification form that he's with you.

E bi like say the bid no strong reach! As I dey see so FCMB is now N17.96. Still hoping this is not worse than the Access Bank's situation. Remember, Access gained full momentum for 3 days after it's TS was lifted before retracing back to its TS price and the rest history! Anyway, fingers crossed!!

Why did FMCB decide to lift TS today? Today of all days, huh sad angry - few days to yuletide historically bearish period? I tire o!!

No really check the history this year. If you open each individual stock page on the NSE it shows you the plot. AFROIL gained 5% for four consecutive months and then on day some one offloaded 90m units and 3 days later it started losing 5% for 2 months. AFROIL went from 34k in jan to N9.4 in July/Aug. Likewise IPWA. That is why a balance of fundementals and technical is the best way for me that is. Use Fundamental analysis to pick out a good stock to invest in and then use techincal to know when to get in and out. If you are on this forum then the chances are that you are a short term trader whether you realise it or not. Take me for instance I will never buy into a PO no matter how good it is. but of course that is me. I check the market on an hourly basis just be gain any kind of advantage. There are still a lot of undervalued stock out there but of course with pumping on this forum I no say nada wink wink grin
Long termers dey watch you quietly oh.Dem go soon attack you oh. But just know say i carry gun for your side in case you need defence.

I have used considerable credit in both the UK and US, but have found the Nigerian credit more appealing, because it makes me sleep better at night, high interest rates notwithstanding.  Anywhere I invest, I try to keep the asset/liabilities as local as posible to avoid risk cross-overs.

Take a simple scanario. Managed to invest 18M of credit in Access bank 2-3 weeks ago. Sold 1 week later with a 1M profit. Bought it back at N3.3  less few days later. Now approx 5% growth. Do I care if I'm paying 1% to the bank? Not really. At least no-one is asking for a £800 monthly charge for credit on credit card in the UK.  Many of these opportunities abound in the NSE. The Nigerian market is a growth market. As long as the stocks selected are of fundamentally sound companies, worst that can happen is that it'll take a little longer to materialize if an expected pattern unravels.
Very correct there. NSE is a weekly goldmine.

Actually, let me give one example.

Very High Volume and 5% gain in price will normally translate to a bull run.
Very High Volume and 5% drop in price will normally translate to a bear run.

These are very simple scenarios. It does not require any chart. Now factor in the trading pattern over the last few days and you'll be amazed at the trend that can come to light.
I think this guy pumping has his body in the US and his soul in the NSE.
You're studying the NSE book on your own and getting it.
I heard you say you were lurking for beta glass the other day.I laughed. If you had struck on the Thursday/friday days i told you about, you would have been 10% richer today. Now look two weeks back from 7th when Beta glass hit its last low,it was a friday again. Now this is were volume (trading wise comes in for me).Its RISKY though but forget that i've talked about 25% many a time.I usually use N6m or a little less to get 10% in one week and after my broker commission,i end up with N360,000 in 1 week.
@Windywendy

I'm really impressed with your bravery oh for a lady. You're my second sister after yodiyokun.
NSE has habits and these old habits just don't stop.We human beings behave continuosly in particular ways and patterns by which we can be easily identified.
