oawele: not necessarily. RSI shows overbought and over sold situations when the index trend cross the upper or lower bounraries, which are usually 70 and 30. Time your buying towards the period interim and FY results are expected for good companies. That's my key.And i don't put in N200 when buying. It should be much higher than N200. |

pumping777: I don't know what Nigerian banks have done to anyone. Everybody is searching for skeletons. It is impossible for our big banks to post N30B a year. I've heard so many versions of this story that I'm not even keen to read anymore. Agree with you there. Nigerian banks have a lot more money to play around with. Take the financing in the oil industry.Previously when you hear about a syndicated loan of $1bn (Nigerian banks would contribute only 5% of that, balance 95% would be from citibank or one large foreign bank). The story now is quite different.Imagine the interest on such a large facility if it were fully funded by Nigerian banks. Besides that, what gives you the impression most of these other sectors owned by multinationals are not doing well. Dem don alter their results tire. They've carried the true profit to India and Europe. |

As per alst year, the price was going up even before the PO news. After the bonus adjustment, the price just hit the roof tops!!!! All that one na just to wet appetite so that people go write more cheque for PO.Dem go use am boast. Oya i give you example. GTB no give bonus last year. E rise reach where e wan reach then fall. notin, Oceanic know say dem wan come market, every bank would love to sell its shares at high price so that there are fewer units running around. |

@Wanajo
On oceanic, last year and this year are very different oh.Last year as is the practice of most nigerian banks, many expected a coming po.They buy up their shares so they can release one bar graph on this day frontpage stating" 2,000,000 % appreciation in 20days". Afribank same thing, dormant for donkey months TS lifted and b4 u close eye, see new price before offer started. Even first Inland don put their graph for today paper. This year will be a different story for oceanic. Not that price will not grow oh.It will surely, but no matter as dem try run from listing that po shares,e go catch up with their stock.People must cash in on that thing. That's wen new opportunities will arise. This is just Q1 meant to psyche some people.
You don still mention FBN again.I know FBN go good.E never good reach.Remain small. Some will certainly sell their 1 for 6 bonus and i hear some big certificates have been dished out.One more step still remain for am to good well well.Nobe say e no good now oh.But strike dey come.
I would advice many to print copies of todays loosers chart and all this week. Some pickings are re-appearing. |

TS now is supposed to be two weeks after offer ends, but going by FCMB.It could be from 14th if not next week. Diamond is getting late particularly considering if you buy on monday 5% higher than yesterdays price. Six months result is getting due/overdue.And its approaching its fair value at this stage even without announcement. I bought at N17.80 and plan to take out next week. This run i suspect is a just a quick speculative run.It needs to make another fall in preparation for result. |

loma: Father of Plenti. Welcome from work. Please answer my question on CCNN and Eternal. Make I still buy? Anyone who bought ccnn at N19 plus just made about 25%.The train has moved a little far for now.It needs to buy fuel. But i expect more. If Nigerian Breweries drop small on monday,it looks a good candidate for another few weeks of rise.Eterna is still attractive. UBA also. But i would advice you generally not to be too anxious.Anything that goes up must come down.Trader no dey moon. Hold cash, don't mind the current momentum. You won't like the injury from a moving train.Plenty opportunities will start popping up in about two weeks i hope.Look at last year, and 2004.The bulls will run early and slow down to drink water. Its when they're drinking water you jump on their back. |

Men just coming home.Work just tough today.I no fit see road throughout today. @enurayce E be like your finger dey hold biro ready to write one cheque to buy something. As pumping answered opportunities are coming.Just keep your eyes open on the loosers chart. But i have to say one strong bank started to pop up today. Going by what i can see, some will want to quickly offload because of what they just received. I expect a slight price decline as a result of this (ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL)(IF NAIRALANDERS NO FORCE AM UP OH) . The 9 month result for this bank is due by anytime this month(maybe end of month) or early feb. That will be the trigger for this bank to fly,but we all need to be patient for this bank to fall by at least one to two steps before attacking.
@ololufemi FCMB will present two opportunities like i wrote on monday.Today would have been good for you to takeout the profit you've made(and also while buyers were available) so you can reinvest the profit next week thursday or friday and get more units. The 9 months is what you await on that stock.
@kpineo Na all your Access you sell?.E good as you sell sha.Greet your bank manager for me oh.
on 5a and 5b. Any other time of the year after a year end is completed, you can get your 25-30% and sell all. Some lay dormant for months after then. Right now. Most stocks are going to be heading in the general kaduna direction.Up and down during the journey. Just see them now like a factory just producing money.Take d cash and put back when it declines(even if it is a 10-15% drop) or look for another cheap one that will popup weekly. |

this your Yo Yo formular i.e get in and out can you help me arrange it properly.
1. find a fudemetally good stock 2. find out their end of year of the company. 3. find out the expected date of anncoucement of FY and INTERIM result. 4. use RSI to check if it is not yet overbought 5. take position. - fixing an exit point of 20% to 30% (VALID WITHIN THE YEAR BUT NOT DURING REPORTING SEASON)depending on the volume bought. 5b. EXTRACT PROFITS AS THEY COME. 6. check the momentum (daily price and volume) 7. listen to "rumur" around that stock. 8. sell when ok. 9. to bank.
if i miss any point please insert it, if it is not properly arrange please rearrange it for me. thanks. ITS INSERTED. |

yodiyokun: So on the other hand, the chart of consistent gainers for 2- 3 weeks may soon be on the loosing streak. -- AP don defy that one.
Meanwhile I will keep that strategy in my black book for use at a later date, I doubt that will work now when everything is in green.
@Easimoni, I have borrowed that John Murphys book
Its huge oo, but I will read it sha - no shaking.
As someone of old will say "no knowledge is lost" You think say many of these insurance companies go make am past next week.I go see whether buyer dey for moon. Watch out for 10 straight profit making days.If they pass 10,they'll loose steam by 11. What you can do in this green period is to just be extracting your profits only as we're approaching reporting season. |

@ Gees,
Most times, the loosers chart is usually more important than the gainers chart for me. I compile the list of consistent loosers from monday to Thursday for two to three weeks, look at them critically and determine who is more likely to start a new round of profit making. |

EASIMONI is his name. He's always surrounded by books.i like has posts and i know he has a book sitting next to him now. I've just been in the NSE for quite some years now.As an engineer i've devised my ways of spotting goodies and detecting sharp trends.i've mentioned some earlier and they don't fail. Didn't you notice many sold some Access today (Thursday). It should make itself available again before the result related bull run.no result came out today. |
Investment › Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by FatherOF2: 7:43pm On Jan 03, 2008 |
Geees: Hmmm There is a higher interest in the market which started in mid 2006, I woke up from like August last year, found this forum and in 5 months we have generated like 150 pages of data, Banks are making profit in two digit billions, take position now because there is a party, the question is where is it? I say almost all the sectors will see at least some growth, Banks, insurance, building materials, If UNTL is still traded then the market is hugly sentimental i'll enjoy it oh, my two pence take too is that this trend who knows might take a year to normalize, See AP was so disappointed in them dumped the stock and now its done 200% every day 5%. So what more can we say, Take position take the 25% (will drop it to 20%) and base line NEVER loose money, Cheers You can't imagine the interest in the stock market.Every friend i met this holiday was talking about stock market within 2mins of our discussion. Two i had not seen for like 7years fired me with stockmarket talk within the first one minute after exchanging greetings. There are so many people ready to pump all into NSE this year. There'll be massive growth. This is just the time to make as much as possible before it starts getting to saturation point some years from now. |

Besides, not until we have market makers (where you can buy and sell instantaneously), the use of TA to max profit from trading is quite limited. no_shaking: Happy new year to you guys! It’s been a privilege learning from you guys. You guys have been so brilliant! By the grace of God, it would be NEXT LEVEL/TOP LIMIT for you guys in the business of stock trading this 2008 - 25% profit would be yam this year. Na next level/top limit - 50% above for you guys esp momentum traders this year, amen
Hmm! It’s brilliant to see peeps aggressively moving to the next level from fundamental analysis the koko to technical analysis. Nice one! It shows progression though! For me this year, it’s about more about sentiments better understanding of the mkt psychology to pro-actively know when the next sentiment would show up – my NEXT LEVEL – no amount of fundamental analysis or BUY signals from RSI, MACD, Stochastics, Fibonacci etc would have pre-emptively signalled the start/end of those crazy price rallies we witnessed last year -AP (lately).
The koko to me is the market sentiments coupled with simple momentum indicators not the Stocha-wetin etc – the feel good/new blood/new funds factor – Insurance Stocks lately; the me too/follow me/sympathy factor – lately AP vs Oando, Conoil etc; the ibeji (twins) factor - Intercontinental vs GTB (now prematurely heading towards N40/45 target just a month before yr end); UBA vs Zenith etc, the bottomed-out/bouncing back factor stock – UNTL lately; along with the end of yr/quarterly timing to mention but few. Note, the post TS run sentiment is not working any more – paradigm don shift away from that trite market sentiment!
From the above causal links etc, the koko is pro-actively knowing where the next sentiment would show up so as to pre-emptively take positions and not just watch (like a passenger) - or ejaculate prematurely (ala Wanajo) out of a potential rally. Need to ride some of these crazy price rallies with big volumes to the max this yr, man, if you get my drift! Not talking about the normal/25% one week up & down price rally. The crazily big ones that show up from time to time – the last yr’s over 100/200 percenters (just within one quarter) - Afroil; Afribank; Livestock Feeds; Dunlop; Nahco; FCMB ; Fidelity Bank; Costain; AP etc. If you can pro-actively and patiently find at least one or two to ride on per quarter with seriously concentrated volume, you are made for the year, man!! Anyway, nuff said!
Wish you all a safe and happy investing this 2008! Laugh wan kill me oh. Happy Newyear oh. I hope you get that killing rally. Did you get FCMB that day?. |

Yes baba.
Just curious
The market seems to be on a hot run. Is this due to PFA funds being pumped in .
This market beats my imagination/expectation though I am loving it.
I know you have the keys to the clue.
Baba remember when Wapco was criticised about its result. I hope sey people don see.
Thats the wonder of the Nigerian Market.
Thanks a lot. Indeed grateful Just like Kpineo dey doubt i go take out some good money from Eterna in a few days.I'm already 10% richer. But i hope you heeded my advice on exiting oceanic today. This bull run started too early on many stocks.I expect some dampening next week. It'll soon be time to start returning PHB cash back to issuing houses. Nothing last forever, a slight correction will come and then bring out all your weapons for a new preemptive strike. If anyone has made their margins now, take your cash and hold. Its bad being caught in spreadsheet money. Right now my legs are weak,i've been jumping in and out in the last 3weeks. But the next 4months na fire months. The time to make as much money as possible. I don go buy foam to soak all the juice from this place. |
