A former CBN Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, Capital Oil boss, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba, Sen. Uche Ekwunife, and ten other aspirants have indicated interest to contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election. Mr Emeka Ibe, Chairman of the party in the state, made this known to newsmen on Tuesday in Awka. He stressed that there would be no automatic ticket for any aspirant, adding that they would all participate in the state`s primaries to emerge as candidate for the election. “We will give all aspirants equal playing ground. There is no special interest in any aspirant. “We will hold transparent primaries for them because they are all qualified to unseat Gov. Willie Obiano. “Any of them who emerges as our candidate in the state is capable of removing Obiano from office,’’ Ibe said. He added that the party would embark on continuous membership registration exercise before the end of the month to accommodate those who want to join in the state. Ibe, however, said that anybody with criminal records would not be allowed to join the party in the state. He maintained that there was no zoning arrangement in the party, adding that new members would have equal rights as old ones. Others, who indicated interest to contest the APC ticket include: Chief George Muoghalu, Chief Barth Nwibe, Mr Obinna Okonkwo and Chief Paul Chukwuma. Any discussion now involving MMM must get diverse or divided opinion; some people arguing in favor of participants and some others against both the scheme and its members. The fact still remains that despite repeated warnings, people still went ahead to risk their money in the scheme. They are not 100% wrong/right anyway! They only wanted their money to grow bearing in mind that success in life is buried in risk and in anything involving financial reward, it is often said that 'the higher the risk the higher the reward'. Now let's consider this; the Bible, in Matthew 25; 27 condenmed the servant who didn't invest the one talent given to him by his master where it will grow with interest... But I am not defending MMM participants... Yes even after repeated warnings, they went ahead to embark into the risky venture. There are good people of God who put their 'talents' money in MMM and now they seem to be in dilema. Now should we do what is in Isaiah 40;1 (console my people...). We all know that Israelites were sometimes a very stubborn people, yet God never forsake them in difficult times. In our time now, we have 'stubborn' MMM participants who refused to heed the warnings from friends, govt, CBN etc; almost the same as Israelites. Inasmuch as I don't support stubbornness, I equally urge christians and others not to delight in their plight because we are all God's people falling short in one way or the other. Remember how important any soul is to God. If what you wish others should be your portion, would you ever like being on the losing side? If no, don't wish others loss, for the cup you use to measure to others,.... If MMM colapses today, how do you think its colapse ( even if it does) will benefit you. You assume you may be momentarily richer than some of the participants but even at that, the world continues to turn round and round and the richer today may become poorer tomorrow and vice versa. No condition is permanent. My message is that we encourage, tolerate, love, accept one another without bias because God has brought us under one nationality and we are going to account for ourselves how we interacted with our neighbours. I am not supporting or condemning MMM in any way, but the question we should keep asking ourselves is 'what shall it profit me if mmm crashes or am I feeling happy when I see another person suffering (be it out of their own stubbornness or out of mistake)? I saw this in Vanguard online news and decided to share.There was outrage, yesterday, at Gwallameji, the Federal Polytechnic Student Village, Bauchi State when a dog was found eating a new born baby abandoned at a refuse dump. Vanguard reports that several of such incidents have been recorded in the area with this coming less than four months after the lifeless body of a new born baby in a polythene bag was found at a refuse dump in the same area. It was learnt that the incident attracted many people to the scene. An eye witness, who only gave his name as Isaiah, said: “I was coming back from church when I saw many people behind a house away from ours. I became curious and went to see what was happening there. “What I saw there was disgusting and annoying. It was someone, who dumped a new born baby at a refuse dump and a dog was found eating it (the baby). “From the look of things and from what I heard people say, the baby was abandoned alive but was killed by the dog. “How can someone do this to an innocent child? How can a human life be treated with such levity? It’s so bad and inhumane.” He said some of the onlookers dug a shallow pit and buried the remains of the baby just beside the refuse site. Contacted on phone, the traditional Chief of Gwallameji, Hassan Ibrahim, confirmed the incident, saying he was not at the scene personally to see things. He said: “I got a call from someone informing me of the incident but I told the person that I was not around. When I called the number back, I was told that Wakilin Sarkin Gwallameji (representative of the chief of Gwallameji), Sanusi Mohammed, was already there. “Since he was there, I continued with what I was doing knowing that he would handle everything well. As I speak with you now, I haven’t met him yet for information on the incident.” Efforts to get comment from the Police were fruitless as several calls put through to the mobile phone of the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bauchi State Command, Haruna Mohammed, failed.

THERE is tension at Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, following an attack on a rice farmer by Fulani herdsmen. The rice farmer identified as Mr Simon Chukwu, was alleged to have been attacked in his farm at Egu Ndi Eke, Okofia Oduma at about 5.30 pm on Thursday while trying to prevent the herdsmen from entering his farm with their cows. Police sources said in Enugu yesterday, that the Fulani herdsmen who were apparently infuriated over Mr Chukwu attempt to prevent their cows from entering his farm gave him deep cuts on his forehead with machetes before running away taking their victim to be dead. Herdsmen The police source said that on, “Thursday at about 17.30 hours, Mr Chukwu of Ezenago Ohofia, Oduma, in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, reported at the police station that while he was in his rice farm at Egu Ndi Eke, Okofia Oduma, some herdsmen came with their cows and he tried to prevent them from entering his rice farm. “Apparently infuriated, the herdsmen gave him a deep cut on his forehead with a machete and ran away, leaving him in his pool of blood. He was rushed to hospital at Oduma, where he is responding to treatment.” Meanwhile, some officials of the Enugu State government and their counterparts from Aninri Local Government Area have visited Chukwu at the Oduma Cottage hospital where one Dr Ezugwu is said to be managing his case. The government officials visited the victim in hospital after a marathon meeting attended by the Chairman of Aninri Local Government, Mr Chidi Ekwe with security agencies and the Fulani community in the area, led by their Chairman, Alhaji Tobi.

Bothered by the dearth of potable drinking water faced by residents of Kedum, Kaani ward, in Ogoni community of Rivers State., the MMM-Nigeria’, a community of mutual financial aid and donations, Port Harcourt chapter, Sunday, commissioned a borehole in the community, saying it’s its own little way of ameliorating the plights of residents in Kedum area and other neighbouring communities. A Guider in the ‘MMM Community’, Ndukwe Joseph Ndukwe, said the project was motivated by the desire of the group to affect the society positively especially now the country is faced with excruciating recession induced hunger and poverty. “That is what defines us as a community of people providing financial help to each other on the principle of gratuitous, benevolence and reciprocity,” Ndukwe stated. Present at the commissioning of the project were the MMM Nigeria, PH chapter number one man,Abiye Johnson (100k+ Guider); Nonso Onwuneme (100k + Guider), other MMM Guiders participants, Kedum community leaders and members of the community who could not hide their joy. It will be recalled that in June this year, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, launched the “Clean-Up of Ogoniland” at Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State. Ogoni-land. However, since flag-off, the project had experienced hiccups. But the MMM-Nigeria Port Harcourt, in less than a month constructed and handed-over the borehole to members of the Ogoni community.
