EducationRe: University Of Abuja Catholic Students Staging The Crucifixion Of Jesus Christ by FavoredGuy: 11:29pm On Apr 14, 2017
Honestly, I am an ardent Catholic faithful but I don't understand this when there should be more attention focused on prayer and meditation, people will be busy capturing pics and videos. It is gradually becoming part Nigerian liturgy. Most of us who take part in the drama see themselves as something else, just like MOD, Boys Scout/Brigade. Prayers as serious as Stations of the Cross should not be said along the road, neither should it be dramatised. I don't know what it shows but I know it contradicts Jesus' teaching in Matthew 6 : 5-8. It should be a moment of sober reflection and not a moment of watching drama. The drama can be acted on another day when drama is needed to teach or entertain not on Good Friday. Peopl ignorantly take the picture of Robert Powell as that of Jesus. That's an error.

normal 100 k with some other gifts as at 2014 oh. but now that dollar has risen I will ask our elders.
Are there still real elders in such areas? If real elders are available, they will tell you how things are done as they inherited from their forefathers and that they won't be the ones to change it, to avoid the wrath of the gods and that of their ancestors. These set of people are extremely real conseratives, and custodians of culture and tradition. Communities that still have some of them, and their opinions respected, are blessed in a way. Those elders that can even use their gsm phone to calculate are retired civil servants (60 to 65) who want to use their share of the bride price to take care of their responsibilities as fathers in their respective families. In fact, some are even still in civil service. So they are elders just by virtue of opportunities and not actually by being old; when real elders are gone. Some elders in this category are okada riders, active businessmen and artisans who are capable of playing football match because they are still young enough for that.

@Blackface, next time then do the singing make 2face do the writing. Shikena!

Because in the real sense of it, two of you are hardworking lazy lads but I know your plan. Celebs normally fall out to draw attention and play on the intelligence of their unsuspecting followers/fans. Later we will hear that both of them have reconciled. They will release an album to mark their reconciliation and gullible fans will still buy and download. Them no go get me again with that their trick.

PoliticsFG Negotiating With Boko Haram On Chibok Girls- Osinbajo by FavoredGuy(op): 7:03am On Apr 13, 2017
The Vice President, Professor Yemi
Osinbajo, has said negotiations
are ongoing for the release of
more Chibok schoolgirls still in the
custody of Boko Haram terrorists,
expressing optimism that the
dialogue would yield the desired
result.
Yemi Osinbajo
Vice President Osinbajo made this
known, Tuesday evening, at an
interaction with journalists and
activists at the state house in
Abuja.

“There is a lot of negotiation
going on,” adding that
government had “gone quite far”
with negotiations to free more
girls, but did not provide details
of the negotiations for apparent
security reasons.
UNICEF report
This came as the United Nations
Childrens’ Fund, UNICEF, reported
that Boko Haram insurgents have
used a total of 117 children,
mainly girls, to carry out suicide
bomb attacks in public places
across Nigeria, Chad, Niger and
Cameroon since 2014.
It called for stoppage of
recruitment and use of children in
armed conflict as ‘suicide
bombers.’
Osinbajo
During the meeting with
newsmen, Vice President Osinbajo
hinted that one of the challenges
of freeing the girls was the
existence of two factions in Boko
Haram, with each faction holding
on to some of the girls.
One of the factions is led by
Abubakar Shekau, the erstwhile
leader of the group, while a
breakaway faction is led by Abu
Musab al-Barnawi, believed to be
a son of the late founder of the
group, Mohammed Yusuf.
Osinbajo, however, said the
Buhari administration was very
committed to the release of the
remaining Chibok girls and other
captives held by the terrorists.
“It is a matter of conscience that
concerns everyone,” he added.
It will be recalled that Boko
Haram seized 276 pupils from the
Government Girls Secondary
School in Chibok on the night of
April 14, 2014.
About 57 of the girls managed to
escape in the immediate
aftermath of the abduction, while
negotiations between the Federal
Government and Boko Haram led
to the release of 21 of the
schoolgirls.
Another three were freed by
soldiers, while dozens others
escaped on their own.
UNICEF
A UNICEF report entitled Silent
Shame: Bringing out the voices of
children caught in the Lake Chad
crisis, said the increase reflects an
alarming tactic by the insurgents.
It said: “So far, 117 children have
been used to carry out bomb
attacks in public places across
Nigeria, Chad, Niger and
Cameroon since 2014: four in
2014, 56 in 2015, 30 in 2016 and
27 in the first three months of
2017.
“Girls have been used in the vast
majority of these attacks. The
number of children used in
‘suicide’ attacks in the Lake Chad
conflict has surged to 27 in the
first quarter of 2017, compared to
nine over the same period last
year.”
According to UNICEF’s Regional
Director for West and Central
Africa, Marie-Pierre Poirier, “in the
first three months of this year, the
number of children used in bomb
attacks is nearly the same as the
whole of last year— this is the
worst possible use of children in
conflicts.
“These children are victims, not
perpetrators. Forcing or deceiving
them into committing such
horrific acts is reprehensible.”

Spirits tormenting you people? Did you people have a hand in the massacre? If not, a clear conscience fears no accusation. Pray that their soul rest in perfect peace. That's all. They really sacrificed their lives for what they believed in.

This, in football, is called off-target. Their spirits should torment those who killed them rather than those who live around the scene of their massacre.

Anyway, Africans and their belief in paranormal. If all the spirits of those killed in this country, in one way or the other, should unite and start tormenting the living, I wonder what will happen ooo!

Nice one coming from the Emir.

Truth sounds bitter but must be told. Any one who wishes to be progressive in life must be willing to accept the truth. This is a good thing/idea coming from an enlighten and highly-revered traditional figure. So maybe his opinion/suggestions will help liberate some people from bondage of ignorance and conservatism that hinders development/progress.

The Emir is very correct on this. I know Kano very well. I did my NYSC service there. So I can testify to all he said. It's time we Africans accepted positive change. We should not continue to live in the past. I wish all our traditional leaders emulate Sanusi on this and use their various offices to open way for positive changes amomgst their subjects.

May God save us from backwardness.
Politics'Nnamdi Kanu, You Are A Boy For Calling Nigeria A Zoo'- Osita Okechukwu by FavoredGuy(op): 3:33pm On Apr 12, 2017
Osita Okechukwu , the Director-
General of the Voice of Nigeria,
VON, today in Enugu, described
the imprisoned leader of the
Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB,
Mr. Nnamdi Kanu as a boy for
calling Nigeria a zoo. He allegedly
told newsmen that Kalu went to a
radio station to rant and try to
separate blessed Nigeria.

Okechukwu, who is a Chieftain of
the All Progressive Congress, APC,
while speaking with ‘New
Telegraph, noted that he would
cherish to see Nnamdi Kalu
released.
He posits, “This is a boy, who is
living in United Kingdom and has
little or nothing do to with us
here, I don’t know why he needs
Biafra as a country.
“Has the Supreme Court said he
should be released? To me, the
Igbos are highly accepted in this
country. Forget about the civil
war because most countries also
passed through the same road,
even the United States.
”So, we must forget about the
past and move ahead. If you look
at it democratically, the Igbos
have never at a time said they
want to leave Nigeria”, he said.

SportsAhmad Considering African Cup Of Nations Played Every Four Years by FavoredGuy(op):
Ahmad, who was voted in as Caf
president after winning 34 votes
to Hayatou's 20 last month, is
expected to bring change to the
organisation
Newly elected Confederation of
African Football (Caf) president
Ahmad Ahmad has revealed that
he asked experts to investigate a
controversial contract signed by
his predecessor Issa Hayatou.
The contract sold off the
continental football mother
body's global television rights to a
French company, Lagardere
Sports for 12 years.
Hayatou's administration sold Caf’s
worldwide TV rights from 2017 to
2028 to the French media
company which is based in Paris
for $1 billion (R13‚7 billon).
“The contract was signed by the
previous Caf [administration].
Right now there are court
proceedings against this contract‚”
Ahmad said on The Sowetan.
“We just got elected. I have now
put the technical people to (work
to) look into this contract. There
are people who are specialised in
TV and marketing to study this
case about the contract.
“We took a decision after a
discussion with the previous
general-secretary (Hicham El
Amrani)‚ and we did that just to
protect the Confederation of
African football if there is any
wrongdoing," he added.
“This is why the previous
secretary-general left office‚ and
we agreed to it.
“Now we are living in an
environment where there must
have be transparency and
democracy‚ and we have to ensure
that the new Caf follows up on
everything that is not along with
transparency and democracy," he
continued.
“This is why I'm waiting for
analysis to come back to me
before I take any decision.
Everyone is completely agreed
that it is not a good contract and
not good for African football.
“Right now I can guarantee you
that I will never sign any long
contract regarding Caf," he
stressed.
The Malagasy football
administrator also stated that
he will consult with experts on
whether the Africa Cup of Nations
(Afcon) should be held every two
or four years.
“The Africa Cup of Nations is the
most important competition in
Africa and even in the world it is
the third-most important‚” he said.
“I will open discussions‚ and
consult the people involved in
football‚ including media and
officials‚ to discuss if there is a
need to increase the amount of
time between Afcons.
“I am ready to listen. I am not
someone who will make decisions
on my own. It’s up to the people,"
he concluded.

Will you as a sports lover see the idea as one that will improve the game of football in Africa. If Ahmad eventually throws it open for everyone to vote for or against the idea, on which side will you be, accepting or rejecting? Back up your stance with reason(s) if you have any.
