I'm not happy about the Dangote concessions. I'm perfectly happy to limit it at that person alone. There is no reason to extend it to Innoson and others.

Forex isn't really that scarce. It's just pricey in the parallel market. Innoson can go there, and pass the costs on to consumers like everyone else is doing. AFterall, the imported components were supposedly just about 20% of each vehicle. Given that the delta between the official and parallel rates is about 1.2x, let him adjust the prices of his vehicles by a multiplier of 1.2 to compensate.

I think the far bigger issue is that consumers are not buying Innoson vehicles in sufficient enough numbers to compensate for the current economic conditions, and that is 100% down to failings of IVM in marketing and branding.

You cannot build a business that seemed perennially focused on securing Government patronage.

Wonderful... Going by your logic, Boeing uses mainly GE Engines and Airbus mainly RR engines. Question: why aren't all the Boeing variants named after GE engines considering the engines are the single most expensive component on an aircraft?

This foolishness cannot continue for too long, please stop. I don't know what "conventional environment" you're talking about, if you do, please let us know because there isn't any generally accepted principle on how a product should be named.

Dont forget you also have to build teh machines that will build the Engines.He should start with things as simple as welding machine then I will give your suggestion a thought my friend.

The easiest solution to our economic crisis is to stop importation and manage what we produce. Oil money is awoof that comes and goes hence the false life we've been living. I believe with the approach of Buhari team we shall make better use of future opportunities. Our economy is not only suffering because of oil crash but withdrawal of investments by former government cronies who might not deem it fit to remain with e paradigm shift.

Innoson gets a substantial amount of tax breaks and incentives from the FG already.

Ina time of recession, it is tough to ask the FG to subsidize a private business that has hurt itself through poor business practices of relying on govt handouts.

I mean, you couldn't even find a single showroom for innoson consumer vehicles in Lagos until some months ago. This is not the hallmark of a serious company.

I find it amusing that there's so much rhetoric that the FG should bail out innoson. Is there anything stopping the south east governors from pooling together a development and investment fund to invest in innoson?

The guy you quoted doesn't know what he's saying. I was at innoson plant several times last year and I can tell you that all thebody parts (metal/plastics) are wholly made in that factory. The tires are brought in from his other factory in the east.People don't travel all they do is lazy around and busy creating a mental picture of how successful people made their money.

You cannot be a car manufacturer without being able to design and make your own engines.And engines cost a lot of money to make and design...and as a result...are very expensive.

A friend of mine called me yesterday to break the good news that he got a miracle job early this month with Nigeria Brewries Limited as a maintenance engineer. you will agree with me that NBL is one of the few coy in Nigeria today that has fantastic renumuration packages for it workforce.

just last sunday, after the church service my friend, with all the excitement in him decided to informed his pastor about the recent ugrade that has just started in his life. when he told his pastor about the job he just got with the Nigerian Brewries, the pastor's countenance changed immediately. he told my friend that he should immediately resign from the job on the excuse that such job opportunity does not glorified God and that it will lead him to hell fire. My friends has dependants who are looking up to him for support. his wife and four kids are there to take care of. At the moment he is at a cross road contemplating on weather to quit the job cos of the pastor's biblical assertions or hold on to the job for his family sake.

Counsellors in the house, please what do you advise he should do in this situaton. thanks.
