Politics / Re: Governor Umahi's Cement Technology Road In Ebonyi, The Most Durable Anywhere by Fawklicant: 8:22am On Sep 27, 2018 |
It's a good idea but I have some reservations about it. One is frictional drag on the vehicles. Frictional resistance on the tyres will be greater thereby slowing the car down considerably requiring the driver to apply more torque to move faster with increased fuel consumption as the attendant effect. If it is coated with asphalt, then it would still be vulnerable to faults and cracks hence potholes would surface in no time. Though the depth of the potholes won't be as deep as using asphalt on compacted earth. The wear on vehicle tires would be much more due to increased friction. Such technology as well as the use of interlock should be limited to inner city roads like streets and all because of durability. It's use on the highway and interstate however would have higher economic disadvantages especially on users as millions would be spent daily by users on car maintenance. Just my humble opinion. 1 Like |

flyca: Kindly read what you wrote there again. You don't have to try to sound smart. For one, this is a country road. A road linking villages and a lot of times won't have drainage for the most part except select locations identified for flash floods. Secondly, you only saw a section of the road and you are ranting about interchanges, direction boards, streetlights. Really? A road linking communities and you are talking about interchanges and streetlights? Even though the op may have exaggerated a bit due to excitement, it still doesn't warrant the bile you spat up there. 4 Likes |

If not for the trademark "basin " mouth I won't believe this is obj's seed. But then again, maybe it's obj's uniform that elevated him. |

blujoi: My question is why did it take Ambode's rift with Tinubu for guys like you to realize that Ambode hasn't done well? I thought he was the best performing governor before now up until a couple of months ago? All I saw here on NL was Ambode is working...abule egba, epe, iyana ipaja...folks were just reeling out achievements like a surveyor's tape. What changed? Oh I get it! deboysben: Cross carpeting is a normal feature in Nigerian politics, don't take it to heart. The politicians are the same people they are irrespective of the party they belong. Parties are like garments, your garments don't change your personality. They only serve to boost your appearance...for a while. 1 Like |

Now y'all can see why I have no atom of respect for Nigerian soldiers. Big bullies! The way I feel when armed robbers are killed is how I feel when boko Haram deals with them...indifferent. Once you join the armed forces in Nigeria, the common civilian automatically becomes your enemy that you must conquer. What a shame. Bunch of misfits! 1 Like |

Naturally, israel and Palestine no be mates, but what happened over a decade ago? We just pray that such a day never surfaces when Russia and US or China etc will have to square it off. It will be mutually assured destruction. With all the Nukes in stock all around the world, nobody is a write off. |

Johnboom: No dream here my brother. Just facts. In international diplomacy, there must be aggressions and one doesn't react to every aggression. It takes wisdom to select your fights carefully. None of them can afford an all out war now, not US, not Russia, not Israel. There'll be a lot of grandstanding but nothing sufficient yet to provoke a full scale war. Whenever you are mentioning US/Russia confrontations, just know that there's always the EU/israel mix in the scenario. Russia mostly acts alone with China and the other axis just standing by the sidelines. Their involvement is mostly a promise, not a fulfilment. |
Travel / Re: US Nuclear Submarine Breaks Through Thick Ice In Order To Surface by Fawklicant: 10:37am On Sep 21, 2018 |
wildkat: Never underestimate anybody based on their size or perceived deficiency in capabilities. US was thoroughly embarrassed in Vietnam and Japan and even somalia. Russia was thoroughly frustrated in Afghanistan. Israel was embarrassed by Palestine just a few years ago. Warfare doesn't necessarily mean you go about bombing civilians, there are rules of engagement. Russia doesn't make noise. They don't feel the need to, but when they make threats, everybody pays attention. Same with China who is more interested in dominating the world through a more subtle means...economy. US issues threats Everytime and the problem with that is that at some point, someone is bound to dare you and call your bluff and when there is a semblance of balance of power, standoffs and threats turn to negotiations. If anything history has taught us that not all wars are won on the strength of a military might. Many are won when there's singleness of purpose and tactical maneuvers. 5 Likes |

Welrez: My dear, the major difference is propaganda! Who makes the loudest noise. Just like in Yoruba fights, it's who makes the most noise that wins not who punches harder. It almost never occurs. Just put on a mean face, make bogus threats, clench fists and make body movements. That's all. No punch. That's US and Russia. 3 Likes 1 Share |
Religion / Re: Who Decreed That Christians Must Have White Weddings? by Fawklicant: 8:12am On Sep 21, 2018 |
The most important part of a marriage is the parents consent as symbolized by the acceptance of dowry or bride price. Ceremony or no ceremony. The rest is jara. Christians also need to learn to separate Jewish/Oyinbo traditions and culture from our African traditions and culture. We infuse Jewish and oyinbo traditions into christianity, then we call our own traditions fetish or archaic or mundane. Such is the practice of today's Nigerian Christian and it is fueled by all these fine boy pastors and con artists. Some churches will tell you that you must do white wedding before traditional as traditional is seen as unclean and fetish. Such ignorance. A marriage is already blessed by God once dowry is paid and accepted. Go and read your Bible, don't rely on what the con artist priest says. 2 Likes |

Politics / Re: Tinubu, APC Mount Pressure On Ambode To Step Down, Endorse Sanwo-olu by Fawklicant: 10:28am On Sep 20, 2018 |
Psychology departments in Nigerian universities should do well to include APC as a case study for mass hypnotism in their curriculum. Yesterday Ambode was doing well and the best performing governor in Nigeria, today he is a nonentity not because of his failures, but because baba said so. They cite LAWMA saga as one of his misgivings for " removing food from boys' mouth to chop". But visionscape employs thousands of people at the same time. This isn't about good governance, but a revenge mission by those who feel he hasn't allowed them free access to the till. Yet they are the first to scream corruption in other quarters. The sad thing is that, the majority of the supporters are zombies with no benefits whatsoever coming to them from their denial of good governance. All that matters to them is that Baba from buordillon has decreed it. APC supporters are the walking dead. Their brand or specie of zombieism is yet to be determined. |

topeayan: South West is in the pockets of one man that is why you have such a high liability ratio with little to show for it except Lagos and partly Ogun. I pity the next governor of Osun state whoever he may be. He would only continue the borrowing as I don't see what could drive IGR in that state presently and sufficiently to service these debts. Na wao! Osun is always a subject of bailout, yet staff salary is owed upwards of three years. What are these loans used for then if it can't drive revenue generation? 11 Likes 2 Shares |
