One of the conditions for the release of the initial tranche of $1.5bn is a reform of Nigeria’s Forex market.

I dont even know if this is good or bad....

Anyway lets wait for confirmation from Mrs Kemi

Hi feelamong,

That thread is quite "dead" , 1 page alone and the last real post was Aug 2013.
Many of the questions asked on that forum have still not been answered, thus I am also still searching..

181 days was 18% pa at the last OMO of 3/2/2017. Hope the information gives you an idea of what rate to bid for.

I am considering 18.35% pa for 364 days based on the fact that 342 days Tbills was 18.6% pa at the last OMO.

Waiting for feelamong wink
To be on the safe side..I will align with your submission..but will move my own bid to 18.5%

No OMO for some time now....Although the average yields in the secondary market went up yesterday to 18.52%

External Reserves are growing (Which I think may be linked to some FPIs already bringing in funds to purchase Bonds/TBills)

Even though I understand d point u made, but u must have a huge cash hull to diversify dis much, infact u r already a rich fella, to invest in more than two places, like u mentioned with substantial gains.

Like uve always done pls let's get ur tots on our options with limited funds, say 10 - 20m. How did u get to a place where u can now diversify
You dont need a mountain of cash to diversify into all those assets..

modest Investments into all is OK..

although at the age we all are, the ideal thing is to put more into the more risky and aggressive investments.

Before now I did more of shares, but now i do more of Tbills and Dollars/bitcoins

incidentally since i finished my first property i have not invested into property again

Good Morning Feelamong. Please what is your suggested rate for 364 days?
would rather wait till close of business on Monday to see what the secondary markets are up to first and also see if there will be any more OMO or not

same here , as a young man with such money I will prefer tbills. the yield from real estate would come in handy when I am getting weak and frail to work (from 50yrs. so it could serve as a sort of retirement package. My own choice anyways
Its always better to build a diversified Asset.

Invest in Property, Tbills, Shares, Bonds and even in Bitcoins/Dollars (to diversify from Naira Assets)

If you keep all this in mind, you will understand why all of them serve their own different purposes.

last week, i ran into a very good short term business that had a good one time pay off...I ran to my bankers for loan, can you believe they refused to accept my small house for the loan. But when i said i have Treasury bills, i was given the loan within 2 days.

In all, just plan to have all of it...then you can reallocate from one class to another based on the prevailing economic conditions/environment

I think I will have to agree with Peterrichy on this one. Oga Feelamong, this is desperation on the part of the bank. How much do other banks raise their own funds? I mean GTB, Access, First Bank and Zenith.
Access bank recently raised N35B funds via CPs ....

They actually matched the 18% discounted rate as is being offered by FGN in the treasury bills in this offer

did anyone say they were desperate?

What will make a bank not to acknowledge someone's bid?
I asked this because I wrote a letter to my branch manager(Diamond Bank) to bid on my behalf using 13.7% for 91days and 17.15% for 182 days. Till now, I have not been debited. I'm not in naija but I reached my account officer to verify if manager submitted the bid. He said he wasn't on sit
Clearly it's time to vote with your feet!!

How do you guys put up with these non challant lazy attitude of some bankers?

I have changed banks a dozen times and am never scared to change... thank God that I presently only use the firm I use for my Tbills and Stocks now...

I may be wrong, but I feel you should trade the current market and rely more on signals from charts. After you have made good cash in the CURRENT MARKET, you can then trade FUTURE MARKET with companies having POTENTIALS.... grin grin grin

There are many undervalued coys that can give you good div/cap appreciation in a few weeks. It is the LOOT from them that investor will carry come push up those companies with potentials and still make 50% in FLOURMILLS. B4 this time, your cash will just HANG in the stock...And if you are not careful, you may even exit out of frustration just at the verge of the stock entering its bull phase (BULL SHAKE OUT).... grin grin grin
I have always stated my trading strategy...I buy more on the rumour and sell on the news..

Also before I enter a stock..i always have an investment horizon, target in place and when i get there i sell and move on....

I dont also have any emotional attachments to any coy/stock...

I cut losses if what i saw at the point of entry is not being seen anymore..

As for Flour Mills, its a buy for me... and I will accumulate gradually!

i just took some time off to look at the Forte Oil result once again..

Its not as bad as its made to look here.

Clearly their problem is net Finance cost...no wonder they have proactively gone ahead to raise bond in the Capital market. That should enable them to pay off some of the expensive loans they are presently carrying....I also like the fact that they did not go the route of paying dividends this year!

I will be watching closely to see how low it falls...

19% growth in Revenue in these difficult times is not a a joke! (although their cost of sales is also not very good)
