nxanadu: why can't i get my own hard earn money in bulk (at once) from IBTC after i'm 50years and retired from work. they said the highest they can give is N500k, so if my money is N4M, why would they do biz with d other N3.5M and pay me installmental with no profit. i still don't get it!This is why I tell people to plan for their own retirement while they are working....save a certain percentage of your income as retirement savings..discipline urself and learn more about investments; invest the money in good stocks, Tbills, Fixed deposit and Estates... Never you depend on these pension fund managers ..they are short of being fraud!! do you know how much interets they pay on your so called Retirement Savings account (RSA)? just a meagre 2%p.a. Do you know how much they collect as fees? 1.6% of the total value of asset under their management so in effect what they pay you is just 0.4% p.a ![]() |

http://af.reuters.com/article/nigeriaNews/idAFL6E8ID5A620120713 LAGOS, July 13 (Reuters) - Nigeria sold 95.56 billion naira ($589.1 million) in three-month and six-month treasury bills, the central bank said on Friday, as strong demand pushed yields to their lowest level in seven weeks. It sold 30.16 billion naira of 91-day paper at 13.75 percent at Wednesday's twice monthly auction, down from 14.09 percent last time, While the yield on 65.40 billion of the 182-day paper fell to 14.88 percent from 15.31 percent. Total subscriptions were at 290.22 billion naira. Dealers said the pattern of demand suggested participation by offshore investors. Nigeria, Africa's second biggest economy after South Africa, issues treasury bills regularly to reduce the money supply, curb inflation and help lenders manage their liquidity. 1supremo: They need to increase their number of branches. The existing branches are now almost always spilling with customers, you stay on long queues even if u want to pay or withdraw with their pinpad. I don't like avoidable waste of time. Why should they increase the branch network are you not aware of Electronic platforms and internet banking? You should better stop risking ur self in the bank and also stop spending valuable time in bank queques...In the next decade there might be no need for any brick and mortar branches anymore! BTW i do visit my branh whenever i want to set my eyes on those skimply dressed marketers.. ![]() |

I have tried making enquiries on this thru my bankers and Brokers but I was informed that they only accept N50M as minimum to purchase FGN bonds for me... >: After querrying the MD of a bank over this issue He stated that the issue is becos our Stock exchange is not robust enough to trade in Bonds....So there is no window for retail bond trading like we have for Stocks. It means that thse big banks and discount houses buy up the bonds and also sell to them selves in the 'OTC' market. Well; as for me I have moved on to only Tbills since small customers like us can purchase for as little as N1M worth! |

moneyquest: But I thought that the CBN will always be striving to have a lower stop rate(ie to pay a lower interest) while you, the customer, will be striving to get a higher rate (or bid).Yea, that is exactly how it works! That's why you have to be realistic in your bid price and moreover we all need to do our researches well so that you do not bid so low! |
Desanta: Please when is the next auction and is there any calender for the auction dates? There is none on CBN's website.the next auction is on the 12th of July 2012. The calendar for Auction is actually on CBN web site... Just check once again http://www.cenbank.org/OUT/2012/CIRCULARS/FMD/NTB%203RD%20QTR%20CALENDER0001.PDF |
