For those of us who have been watching the Money market, You would have seen the absolute 'Carnage' in the market recently. The Interbank rate went as much as 37% yesterday due to the paucity of liquidity after Sanusi increased the CRR for commercial banks to 12%. The implications for the Tbills auction was well felt yesterday. Rates went up immediately and this is good for investors that have cash at the moment!!! |
for the records...this is not the highest ever reached. We have hit 4420 mega watts before in January and what happened after that? Well, your guess is just as good as mine! meanwhile this is the peak of rainy season and all our hydro turbines usually do well this period..lets wait till the peak of dry season to check.. http://www.punchng.com/business/business-economy/power-generation-hits-4420mw-ministry/ |
vulpeslopez: @ feelamong,r u buyin 2 keep for d long run?FBN is like 12 now which is on d High side considerin the fact that some of us bought it @ 7.20 some months back and sold it @ 11,it is a good bank 2 buy into don't get mi wrong but I just don't see FBN gettin to 15Personally I always look at the run term..but then if there is profit to be made in the short term I dont hesitate to take my profit!! Good move on the FBN you bought and sold earlier.... |
Toomaxi: @feelamonge, thanks very much for d info. Wht is there price per share? because i believ pple wil lik to knw dt. Wht abt GTB?FBN goes for about N12, while Inter Brew goes for about N6.20. GT is not a bad stock to buy, their excellent corporate governance gives them that premiun most investors are ready to pay for them. I always have GT as part of my retirement stocks for now. But at the present price, i think its a bit overpriced. |
Yes You can start with any amount....As for me the stocks to watch now are FBN and International Breweries. I am choosing FBN cos of the recent increase in CRR by the CBN...authomatically this implies that banks with good deposit base will be making loads of money from the Interbank where rates have spiked to as much as 17% in the Overnite borrowing. In the other sectors, International Breweries (Owned by SAB MILLER of South Africa) came out recently with an excellent result...over 1000% increase in PAT from the results of smae time last year; moreover tehir Onitsha brewery is about to commence operations... and as you know in theis country we dey SHACK well!! Happy Investing!! |
At the rate at which LASG wants to send people to jail....then they should better start building more prisons o!! Cos only Ikoyi prison and Kirikiri Prisons will not even be enough for the amount of people that would be captured at that one way in Shomolu ![]() |
http://af.reuters.com/article/nigeriaNews/idAFL6E8J1C4220120801 LAGOS Aug 1 (Reuters) - Nigeria plans to auction 142.1 billion naira ($884 mln) in treasury bills with maturities ranging from three months to one year at a twice monthly debt auction next Wednesday, the central bank said in a public notice. The bank said it will issue 32.05 billion naira in 91-day paper, 50 billion naira in 182-day bill and 60 billion in 364-day bill on Aug.8, in a Dutch, or reverse, auction. Nigeria, Africa's second biggest economy after South Africa, issues treasury bills regularly to reduce money supply, curb inflation and help lenders manage their liquidity. T.bill yields rose marginally at last month's auction to 13.94 percent for the three month paper from 13.75 percent, after central bank tightened liquidity to boost a weaker naira currency, which has lost 3 percent since April. PistonRock: I believe that Nigeria's annually inflation rate is at 12.9percent as at june 2012.So if TB is offering us 14.5percent annually, then we stand to make 1.6percent as real profit which is a far cry from the 14.5percent paper pofit.TB is a form of cash equivalent.Well spoken bro!! every one should try make an above inflation return on one's free money or saved funds!! At the moment Tbills present the only Money Market Fixed income instrument which is Risk less and Tax less that one with a little money can also invest on to beat the inflation!! |
nineville: @feelamong. hi bruv, i mailed u on saturday, no rensponse. nl username id. thanksOk Roger that!! will get back to you ASAP! |

chrishenzo: I would like to start a charitable work that focus on the development of the state, especially in the field of education (science and technology, arts, etc) , and also help talented people to achieve their goals. I don't have the capital to start it alone. So I think I will get more help if the program is a charity/public program. You dont need a banker for this..I operate an account with one of my bankers....The account has a two step security. The first step is to log into the account and view all the transactions. The second security step is to enable me to consumate any transaction on my account like funds transfer and bill payments. So just go ahead to open the account and give all your donors the viewing rights with just the log in details and viewing password! try to withold the transaction password or ur money go waka..... |

Good One Acidtalk... Been taking notes all the while ..Am a wine dealer but I have a wife who ios job seeking that is so academically inclined...she wants to become a lecturer in the Public health area and notin else..she does consults for people at times but this job comes sparingly.... I have told her to create a business model around her consulting but she is not that business inclined....she is so much an introvert.... I have also told her to set up a side business that will earn a few bucks for her as she keeps looking for the breakthru consulting job...how can one make her see reason in being business oriented, to go out and look for the consulting contracts/contacts? |
PhysicsQED: People are quick to blame the government, but the article Wesley80 posted shows that the fake yellow fever card racket is coming from criminals among the Nigerian people. So whose job is it to catch these small criminals at the nations airports? All over the world there are criminals and its the job of the govt authorities to keep fighting them!! but what we have in Naija is a free for All!! We have seen where even a seating Governor was kidnapped and nobody was ever questioned for that! So who will bother to check the activities of the small criminals at the nation's airports? me and you abi? |
Okija_juju: ...And what exactly does Nigeria depend on Ghana for please?!!!sharraap dia!!! You dont even take time to analyse issues before vomitting the ignorance in you!!! So tell me what amount of nigerians are studying there? also do a research and tell me what amount of Nigerians are are economic refugees doing business there ![]() Yes we have descended so low cos we have a thieving govt that does not give its citizens any hope of a better tomorrow!! Go to Ghana and see how organised they are..Go to Ghana and see how much they have tried to improve the general well being of their citizens... For as long as we have scondrels in govt positions we shall continue to get this S.hit from small nations around!! |
Well.. we shall blame it on the obvious!!! This is how low we have descended as a nation.... Very soon even Chad and Niger will ask us for yellow fever card to enter their improverished nations.. ![]() |
Damn!!! we have so many children in this forum!! I think the govt have got a lot to do with investment education.....Many people have not even analysed to know why the share price dropped to the present level and they are so quick to talk rubbish!! In 2009, the share price of Flour ills plc dropped to N15...due to a write off of foreign exchange loss and today they are up there at N55. If only many people on this forum had invested then...just recently in January the share price of UBA dropped to N1.96 becos of a profit warning...many of us did not also buy and today the share price is N4.26k..... If i were you, i will analyse why there is a drop in the price and stop talking balderdash here!! Many have not even cared to look at their last Half year result...oppurtunities like this dont come everyday....As for me, I have been loading up and come december I can be rest assured of at least 50% return when i start selling to mofos like you.. ![]() |

bvc: Thank you very much Domiron and Adorebee! I appreciate, firstly I now know I still stand a chance. So, I'll go ahead and contact a good stock broker. Thanks again. More important information are welcomedJust seek a good stockbroker who will advise you. But try to get a letter of administration where you will be the nominated administration for her Estate and then you have to open an account on that name that you will do what they call 'Transmission' where all the shares whether in certificate or CSCS are converted to the Estate name... Good luck! and invest the money wisely when you get it!! |
