Eilenora: I am a bit unclear, my course says:
BMT1B - Business Management, London South Start Date: January 04, 2021 End Date: August 31, 2022 Level: Graduate Certificate Program Status: Full-Time
As you can see, mine is a 2years programme but described as a graduate certificate on the offer letter which is contrary to your explanation of most 2 year courses being diplomas. What will my certificate say? I selected College Certificate on my IMM form not diploma. The options were: College certificate, college diploma and college applied degree. I think you’re right with the selection of the college certificate and your certificate should say “College Graduate certificate. |

Naijaforeigner: PGC = College certificate
In Ontario, for most schools, usually 2 semesters (8 months). However, It also depends on school and program. Some PGC programs in Ontario are 3 semesters - 12 months duration (includes compulsory coop).
I think most 1 year programs in Quebec takes full 3 semesters (12 months).
Your certificate will state Ontario College Graduate certificate or Ontario College certificate depending on the school.
If you are going for PGC, on IMM form, you choose College certificate
PGD = College diploma. In ontario, it is Usually 2 years duration. You will end up with a certificate that says Ontario College Diploma or Ontario College Graduate diploma depending on the school.
If you are going for PGD, on IMM form, select College diploma
Applied degree is below PGC and PGD. Usually longer in duration depending on the school. I think Applied degree is same level as Bachelors. Thank you. |

Eilenora: Hello All,
Please I need to ask something; when applying to colleges, in filling the IMM form, what should one select between college certificate, college diploma and college applied degree? cos i noticed several refusals here on the basis of selecting diploma.
My Course is:
BMT1B - Business Management, Level: Graduate Certificate Yeah I noticed too and funny enough I made the same mistake of not choosing the appropriate one. Please guys can you-all shed more light on the difference between the 3 mentioned above (college certificate, college diploma and College applied degree). |

Siobhanle: Hi everyone, Is the "Ontario College Graduate Certificate" equivalent to the standard Post Graduate Degree and/or Post Graduate Certificate? (For 2:2 graduates when applying to colleges) I’ve seen a couple of schools refer to it as the degree/certificate awarded. Yes it’s referred to as a Post graduate certificate. |

Thanks Yes you can, but I think you really don’t need to attach it if they are not going with you. Just stating it should do. All the bestest Sir/Ma’ |

Anon123: At this point, no final decision has been taken on this application meaning you might still have a slim chance of saving the application. Seeing the vos comments, why no draft a letter defending all he has said while pointing his to evidence showing why he is wrong .If I were you I would try even though the chances are slim but its still a chance.
My 2kobo. Bro, the bolded is wrong as the final decision has already been made and they are probably holding on the decision so as to not create any back logs (applicant reapplying before September 15) for themself. I believe almost everyone who failed eligibility and haven’t done their biometrics got the same first message on there GcMs note. I did too |

Damian457: Good morning house. Please I just finished NYSC and I want to apply for study permit. I have no permanent Job yet but my family lives here. How else can I prove ties to Nigeria? It will be very hard to prove ties buh there’s nothing impossible. All you have to do is show that the course you’re going for has a very good prospect here in Nigeria and it’s an upgrade to the certificate/degree you already have. Just make the VO understand that you’re already useful here in your home country and you’ll be more useful in future. All the bestest Sir/Ma’ |

johnsonm2g: Good day to you all. Please how long does information stay in CIC data base? the reason why I'm asking is because I entered my siblings date of birth wrongly when I applied for student visa in the year 2016. I want to apply again now, do I have to bring it up in my LOE or I should forget and fill the correct ages next time? I guess the information will be there forever as reference to it is being made whenever it’s needed too. |

Applying with this same whole situation abi with another strategy?
There are no concerns here as someone advised you to tackle them and reapply!
Read the BOLDED part more than 3 times over and OVER again... That VO isn't even talking to you, sending a message to the person that will review your next application.
It will End in Praise!
UPDATE:.... I love that part where the VO said Mother's Account noted,.... I kind of smiled.
Your entire work was done in Your mother's Statement of account to make up for the others that looked frail.....
Don't Reapply sir/Ma I think the bolded is wrong and VO was actually saying that I submitted bank account details of my mom for proof is financials. |

JustMellow: Hello Fgmp12,
Its sad to receive the news on your application. You should get if in your next try but only if you keep your focus intact.
The general idea of the VO's non-satisfaction was from your study plan. Try as possible to critically emphasize on the raised concerns.
Even if your graduation year was 2019, still try to demonstrate an engaged activity i.e. job hunting (email correspondence to/with prospective employers etc), skill acquisition relating to your prospect study, evidence of freelancing jobs, stipend received from managing the family business etc.
As an adult, based on the notes, the VO may be poised to understand your employment situation and what you've been doing prior after your graduation to the date of filing for your study intent.
I don't think the program of study was majorly the issue, esp if the course correlates with your previous study. I think the areas of home ties, funds, and LOE should be looked into.
I wish you the best of luck Noted sir, Thank you and God bless you always. |

Pee2Jay9: Thank you for sharing.. I appreciate.. Seeing these notes gives clarity and hope as well.. I see that u applied for Graduate certificate, I'll advice you choose PGC next time and a course that u can actually defend that is lucrative here.. Study whatever else u like over there when u arrive Canada but for the sake of visa, let there be correlation.. All the best in the next application It’s a post graduate certificate program and it’s actually lucrative here which I defended but I guess it wasn’t enough. |

Anon123: So sorry for the delay bro. Its a delay not a denial. Be strong, dont let it weigh you down.
The school and program you are going for isnt an issue.
I have a dew questions to ask.. What did you do in your bsv, Did you state you are working, if yes what is the job role, does it have any relationship or close relationship with the intended course. On your sop, did you explain the markertability and employability the course is in your home country, did you discuss your plans after studies.
What did you use as your home ties pls... Greetings bro, I studied computer science and no job yet as I just finish school and was suppose to go for my NYSC service buh this Corona iss was causing delay so I opted to skip service. I think the VO is mistakening the graduate certificate for college certificate, he/she made a remark that I’m going to study a college certificate. Yes I did explain how good the course is and how people are getting involved with it. Home ties : I used the Cybersecurity job prospect in Nigeria. I have a landed property buh I didn’t include any. |

Got my GcMs note today, Failed eligibility ( God is good. The note says: He said 27yrs old male single no support significant previous travel to access as a positive factor, no support for any employment , mothers account noted. To study college certificate. The applicant’s rational for studies given past and current education and employment has failed to satisfy me that the expense doesn’t justify the potential for improved career possibilities in applicant country of citizenship or current residence to present an incentive to leave Canada. Overall weak family and economic ties to of citizenship and current residence to provide incentive to leave at the end of any authorized stay. |
