FighterPilot: These Nigerians must shut their mouth up and defeat Book Haram which walks tall right in their backyards. Stop talking too much and convince us once and for all. The whole world pity you because of the rag tag army you possess. The superpowers have vowed to help you because you are as weak as a baby. You are undoubtedly not equal to a task when it comes to protecting your own citizens, you have failed at every aspect. Failure is written all over your faces.

South Africans let us stop entertaining this so called imaginary strong Nigerian force which failed to prove itself to their critiques to the extent that we all in the whole world went down in tears, sobbing for defenseless citizens of northern Nigeria. Nigeria has a weak army, that's my final statement, same as that of US generals and Obama, Ugandan president, prime minister of UK, and many experts across the world. That's a shame, seeing the force claimed to be the strongest in Africa being humbled and outsmarted by just mere amateurs right on their backyard where they are supposed to have projected their power. Where all their equipments, hardware and personnel are based. Where they do not need any logistical support to transport their force and arms to another country. Shame!!! Book Haram has hung the whole uniform of Nigerian military on the tree for all to see, no wonder they want to change their already disgraced uniform. Shame!!!!

agaugust: THIZA the senior fotografa of SANDF, I have been watching you run your basket mouth like a comedian grin

You posted photos of South African air force second hand American free gift to 3rd world hand me down C-130 Hercules transport aircraft grin

Well, I need to inform you that Nigeria is the only country in sub-saharan Africa with the bigger/stretched version C-130 Hercules transport planes.

We also have many other NAF transport aircraft like Dornier 228 and Aliena G-222.

There is NO weapon/equipment in South Africa that Nigeri angrya does not have an answer to. Go and boast to Lesotho-Burundi.

So, SAAF is a rag-tag air force with donated rag-tag American second hand half used C-130 Hercules....NAF gets Naija brand new C-130s

.
If you have only known that your NAF is a big joke. It is not even 66 years old yet you claim it to be 66 years ahead of SAAF. What a joke of the century.

HandOfChukwu: .. Don't forget a large percentage of the South African military have HIV which lowers the immune system to critical levels, so if they were to ever stop posing for fancy photos and end up in an actual war many of them would die of simple illnesses such as the common cold, malaria, snake and insect bites and if they get wounded in battle there is a very little chance they would be able to survive, their military is nothing but a joke.
Your HIV negative army struggles big time to defeat Boko Haram.

NaijaPikinGidi: You must be silly. The USA has the best Special Forces yet could not rescue the lone prisoner of war held by the Talibans in Afghanistan. It took a prisoner swap to secure the release alive of that soldier! No matter your skill and experience as special force you can not secure the evacuation of 200 hostages without total collateral damage in the porous Sambisa Forest Reserve!

Your ignorance on such basics, is a reflection of the poor tactical rating of your SANDF. I wonder why after all the begging from your military fat stomachs, no one has resigned! Obviously, being in SANDF is the easiest job to get paid for without dropping a sweat!

cool cool
That is not an excuse. Your 5year old rag tag special forces won't even dare to kidnap their commander and take Shekau hostage. There are many ways to kill a cat and special forces know that, but sorry that is not for the small pea-sized brains like Naijapingoooooush. That task is just equal to the strong and mighty SA Recces.

"32 Battalion was expanded to 6 infantry companies, a recce wing, and a support company consisting of 81 mm mortar, anti-tank and machine gun sections." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/32_Battalion_(South_Africa)

South African special forces from 1975 to 1993 were the same ones nicknamed the Recces. Those are the ONLY experienced special forces in South Africa and they are 99% dead, disbanded, retired, flush down the toilet by Zulu/Xhosa ANC blackmen, or escaped overseas to avoid revenge atta.cks by blacks after apartheid ended. Do I have to teach you your own history?

The name Recces was cancelled by ANC Mandela and co.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_Special_Forces

SANDF special forces of today have ZERO war experience, please don't hate your weak soldiers, accept them, they are all yours
grin grin

.
Stop the bus!!! And save yourself some further embarassment from your ignorance.

Your mother when she gave birth to you was really confused, that's why I don't blame you. You are as confused as she was. 32 Batallion was never Special force unit of South Africa. It consited mostly of foreign recruited forces of Angola and does not translate into the core SA Recce team of SADF as it was known at the time.

Members of SA special forces were recently deployed to both CAR and DRC with zero casualties. One member of the recces you claimed not to have any combat experience made the longest sniper kill which took down to the annuls of history with Denel's NTW gun. Hope that is enough to have demostrated their capability than the rag tag special forces of Nigeria who are no match to Shekau's Boko boys.

agaugust: South African recces are mostly white-men or Angolan blacks NOT South African blacks.

"
32-Battalion, of which Colonel Jan Breytenbach was the founding commander, became the most controversial unit in the South African Army because of the secrecy surrounding it. Its story is virtually the story of the Angolan/Namibian war, because its involvement in it was greater than any other South African unit. The battalion primarily consisted of black troops and NCOs originating from virtually every tribe in Angola. They were led by white South African officers and NCOs ."

http://flecha.co.uk/

South African recces unit or force is DEAD....DISBANDED IN MARCH 26TH 1993

You have no war experienced special forces black men any more, unless Angolan's are now the top fighters in South African army.

The approximately 120 former white-men recces were mostly flushed out by Zulu/Xhosa ANC for apartheid reasons, the approximately 20 men left in SANDF today are too old to fight high tempo long endurance war.

95% of today's SANDF have zero combat experience. FACT !!!

.

PHOTO 1 : THE FAMOUS SOUTH AFRICAN RECCES ARE NOW DISBANDED, DEAD, TOO OLD, RETIRED, FLUSHED OUT, OR ESCAPED OVERSEAS

PHOTO 2 : CURRENT NIGERIAN ARMY YOUNG BLOOD, EXPERIENCED AND BATTLE TESTED SPECIAL FORCES IN WAR ZONE

.
Nigerian military knows nothing about special operations and is only now recently they started launching their special forces unit. They have the most inexperienced special forces in Africa. Go and do your research properly and you will find that today as in 13/july/2014, SA Recces comprise mostly black South African young people who are vigorously trained. It is not easy to pass their selections, only one in hundred soldiers succeed. I also want to correct you that there is no any SA Recces who are disbanded, it is only the name that was changed, same as SADF. Moegoe!!!

South African Soldiers are poorly tained...United Nations complains.
SANDF trained by Brigadier-General who cheated to pass military exams
Fancy SANDF photos you see here are deceptions from a rag tag unprofessional army dressed in nice uniforms
UN lambasts discipline of South Africa’s poorly trained’ troops.
The officer in charge of training soldiers for deployment to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is an exam cheat.
And in another embarrassment for the SA National Defence Force (SANDF), a top UN official sharply criticised the discipline and combat readiness of South African soldiers in Sudan in a recent letter.

Brigadier-General Sithabiso Mahlobo, who was found guilty in 2002 of cheating in exams, is in charge of the training of soldiers who are in the process of being deployed to the war-torn North Kivu province of the DRC.

He is the commander of 46 SA Brigade in Kengray, Joburg.
Mahlobo confirmed to City Press’ sister newspaper, Rapport, that he is responsible for training soldiers who will join the neutral international force (NIF) to fight the notorious M23 rebels in the DRC.
The NIF is a joint operation of the UN and the Southern African Development Community.

Mahlobo was demoted from general to major in 2002 after he was found to have cheated in a military exam by copying from another candidate.

Despite this, he again progressed through the ranks and was promoted to brigadier-general in 2008.
He then took over 46 SA Brigade.
According to military expert Helmoed-Römer Heitman, no officer who has been found guilty of an offence like cheating in examinations should train other soldiers.
In an unrelated development, it has been revealed that a top SANDF commander refused to receive extra training for South African soldiers on duty in Sudan.
In a classified letter, Lieutenant-Colonel T Mashalaba, the commander of an infantry battalion of the SANDF, which was until recently deployed in the troubled Darfur region in Sudan, flatly refused to allow his soldiers to receive training from the UN and the African Union (AU) after one of his soldiers died in an ambush last year.
Mashalaba was in command of the 10 SA Infantry Battalion when Rifleman Vincent van der Walt (23) died in the ambush in October.
Two other South African soldiers were wounded in the attack.
They were stationed at the combined mission of the AU and UN (Unamid) in Darfur.
A UN official in Sudan reliably told City Press that Mashalaba was already on thin ice prior to this incident after ignoring an order to deploy his troops to a refugee camp.
A woman was apparently abducted on August 15 as a result.
Mashalaba allegedly also tried to halt the inquiry into the ambush in October.
“He involved himself personally in the inquiry and tried to halt it despite direct orders to cooperate,” the UN official said.
A letter from a senior Unamid official, in which the quality of South African soldiers’ training was sharply criticised, had been distributed among senior South African army officers just more than a month ago.
The letter, which was apparently also sent to top officials at the UN headquarters in New York, mentions the soldiers’ lack of discipline and their arrogance.
The Zuma link
In 2010 the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) controversially awarded two oil concessions in the east of the country to President Jacob Zuma’s nephew, Khulubuse (pictured left).
The rights were originally awarded to Irish oil company Tullow and South Africa’s Divine Inspiration Group in 2006, but “reassigned” to two Khulubuse Zuma companies, Caprikat and Foxwhelp, which are registered in the British Virgin Islands.
The oil blocks are in Lake Albert in the east of the DRC on the border with Uganda.
In January last year, British oil industry watchdog Platform London reported that Zuma’s companies had begun exploration activities.
In 2010 Mark Willcox, chief executive of Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale’s Mvelaphanda Holdings, confirmed to the Mail & Guardian that they were giving “strategic advice” to Khulubuse Zuma.
Mvela signed two mining deals in the eastern DRC in 2004 relating to the Kilomoto gold project and the Ruashi copper-and-cobalt project.
Reuters reported that Khulubuse Zuma signed the deal with the DRC government on behalf of Caprikat and that Michael Hulley, President Zuma’s lawyer and legal adviser, signed the Foxwhelp deal.

.
The media is using tactics to pin Mashalaba down. He does not train troops, corporals, sergents, leutenants and captains do. Mashalaba's responsibilities have nothing to do with physical training other than administrative part of it.

Meanwhile, Nigeria admit it has no military and that they are poorly trained. That's what we must concentrate on and not South African Military which has never failed its citizens at all.

agaugust: This forum is for all African military forces, not only Nigeria and South Africa. So I posted Eritrea.

Eritrea has the best infantry soldiers in Africa according to some military analysts. Eritrea has defeated mighty Ethiopia in many battles.

South Africa CANNOT defeat Ethiopia, so how will SANDF defeat the great Eritrean warriors.

Military don't win war according to shiny photos and nice uniforms, good clothes don't k.ill, bullets do the job.

Eritrea has experience of 4th generation jet fighter combat with BVR missiles, South African Gripen jets pilots have ZERO combat experience with their Gripen, or with a 4tH generation jet fighter, and NO SINGLE BVR missile on SAAF Gripen jets.

Eritrea has an army of 250,000 men and they will completely surround and delete SANDF 50,000 men tiny army.

Eritrea fought one of Africa's biggest wars with hundreds of thousands of troops, tanks, artillery, jet fighters, etc, recently up to year 2000 as one of the most modern and biggest conventional wars in the world. Soldiers that died alone are over 100,000 dead, not the children playground Seleka Vs SANDF battle where about 250 soldiers died.

Eritrean women alone will defeat the whole South African army http://mereja.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70217

Eritrea will wipe out SAAF in 5 minutes with BVR missiles at distant range, their army will then circle around SANDF and choke your fine looking army in the centre until all your men are d.ead and all your big b.ottom women are captured alive and taken to Eritrean bedrooms for 'detailed examination' by wild Eritrean men in their capital city of Asmara.

PHOTOS : ERITREAN ARMY CAN DRESS UP IN FINE CLOTHES IF THE WITH TO, BUT THEY PREFER TO DRESS LIKE WILD WARRIORS.
We will delete both Ethiopia and Eritrea combined together. SA is well and more armed than both contries. It doesn't matter how physically strong you may be, but if you fail to possess the right weapon at the right time you will bounce. SA has equipment my friend.

This is not new in South Africa where one department experience budget deficit. Remember your generals have been ordered arrested by judgement obtained by your obnoxious soldiers union ... SANDU. Resign or spend 12 months on external deployment. grin grin grin
South Africa is not Nigeria. You might have the largest economy, but our government is 3X more richer than your government. That is nothing, we had such negative media reporting before and we have moved passed all those challenges and this one is just nothing. Remember, we also have external reserves in our disposal as our last resort which we can always use if all measures (treasury, loans, etc) have failed, but it won't come to that, since our treasury always have money to supplement the budget on such cases.

chris365: SANDF faces funding crisis

The SA National Defence Force (SANDF) is facing a
"catastrophic" multi-billion-Rand financial crisis that
could force mass retrenchments and the indefinite
postponement of the acquisition of essential equipment.
Johannesburg daily The Times reported defence
secretary Sam Gulube as saying a R1.1 billion budget
shortfall could compel the SANDF into large-scale
retrenchments and compulsory early retirement in order
to survive and pay salaries.
The budget shortfall also meant the SANDF would have
to cut operations and acquisitions.
Gulube was speaking after briefing Parliament's defence
portfolio committee.
The defence force's descent into crisis was slammed by
the SA National Defence Union (Sandu) and a defence
analyst said the proposed cost-saving measures would
degrade the SANDF - already "catatonic" - even more.
Gulube said the Department of Defence was unable
to fill 4 000 posts because of insufficient funding.
Various options were being considered, he said,
including cutting employees and extending working
hours between now and March 2015.
"We hope that for the next financial year we will be
covered.
"For the remuneration of employees, we are about
R1.1 billion short. By the end of this year, I will have to
balance these books.
"When posts are vacant we don't fill them. We
encourage people to take voluntary exit mechanisms.
We are looking at the attrition rate. The number of
people who retire or die in service will be about 2 000
annually."
The shortfall means soldiers are being deployed for
longer on foreign missions to cut down on stand-by
shifts at home bases.
David Maynier, Democratic Alliance MP and defence
portfolio committee member, said the Department of
Defence was spending more than half of its budget of
about R43 billion on personnel-related costs.
"The army alone has a R13.8 billion budget, of which
R9.5 billion went to pay soldiers and staff. Less than
one percent went to payment for capital assets such as
vehicles."
Maynier said ideally about 40% of a budget should be
spent on pay and benefits and the rest split equally
between operations and capital acquisitions.
"The defence force needs to downsize to reduce
expenditure on personnel so that it can properly fund
operations and acquisitions."
Defence analyst Helmoed Heitman said the cost-cutting
proposals would be "catastrophic" for a defence force
already in a "catatonic state".
"If they are implemented, the SANDF will suffer severe
capability losses.
"Critical acquisitions, such as those of heavy-lift aircraft
and maritime patrol aircraft - the latter dating back to
World War II - are already years behind deadline."
Heitman said every arm of the defence force was in
crisis.
"There are not enough planes, pilots, vessels, sailors,
soldiers and vehicles.
"Equipment is ageing ... troops are overstretched ... it is
a complete catastrophe
."
He said retrenchments might sound like a good idea but
"there is hardly anyone left to retrench".
"To operate optimally, doing its currently required work,
including peacekeeping deployments and border
protection, we need an additional 20 000 troops.
He said the air force's transport capabilities were "a
disaster".
"Just look at what happened in the Central African
Republic, where we had to rely on a chartered aircraft to
get equipment to trapped troops - which was delivered
too late.

"To some, it's a joke. To those operating some of this
equipment, it's a life-threatening situation.''
Pikkie Greeff, Sandu general secretary, said: "The
proposals make the 2014 Defence Review appear as a
worthless a piece of paper.

"It's the same as the health minister saying there's no
money, so let's close hospitals."
defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=35436:sandf-faces-funding-crisis&catid=111:sa-defence&Itemid=242

at peacetime for that matter. pathetic

i guess project biro will only appear in biro and dem badgers will remain in the bushcheesy.
That is nothing, we always have a treasury to feed the bill for a budget deficit of governmental departments. SA has a very rich government.

The problem is that in SA we all want our military 2 look like that of the US. The standard that our military is today far exceed that of Nigeria in hundred fold. Many militaries in Africa dream of achieving this very standard that many of our fellow citizens are unsatisfied with.

agaugust: So how do I show you where I live if you people have posted me to 3 different countries and you argue among yourselves...America, Canada, Nigeria, and soon another of you will say China...first go agree among yourselves about where I live then maybe I will show you myself in battlefield camouflage uniform, but you won't see my face, i will write some of you South African's nairaland names on a paper boldly and take mobile phone photos of it with my head when l am in official uniform showing you my city, and may be my rifle or pistol. We are going to an artillery base soon and you might be seeing such with me.
Exactly like how @Patches strived so hard to prove to us that he is indeed outside the shores of South Africa. Can you show us your visa and passport now with today's date written somewhere we can see it? Please mister prove us wrong. Tell me aint you chattered accountant anymore? It sound as if you are a soldier again. You are so controversial.

agaugust: @Patches said I am in Canada and living there for years, but you say now you have proof that I am stuck in Nigeria...

Who is the M.adman between both of you, or you are both M.ad together? grin

.
@Patches has his own views and I have mine. The way I see things from your limited knowledge of international travels it proves to me that you are nowhere other than Nigeria. If you were used to travelling internationally you would have never behaved the way you do.

agaugust: Both Nigerians and South Africans need visiting visa to enter South Korea if purpose is more than 30 days tourism. FACT !
I say again, I don't need visa to visit South Korea for 30 days. What is it that is difficult for you to understand?

Places that South Africans can visit without a visa.

Do you even know I have visited both New Zealand and Israel without a visa. My visit to Israel was on a religious trip and New Zealand was on a rugby visit. I never had to apply for a visa for both trips dummy. It now tells me you know nothing about international trips, a proof that you are still stuck in Nigeria.

@Agagust, is now your turn to prove to us that you are in the US. Can you just show us the picture of your visa?
