Henry120: Your reasoning is very low and awful in south-africa.Logic 101. Since SANDF and SAPS were not stakeholders on the project, how will they have any interest in acquiring IKIRI? Beside we have our own made Springbuck (iV). |
Henry120: It is heartening to read that, there is actual joint collaboration between the defence industry of nigeria and south-africa.The reason is because IKRI-7 was made specially for NPF and not for SAPS and SANDF. BTW, IKRI-7 is just a mere copy of Springbok IV manufactured by DCD with few modifications. |
agaugust: Did you read the comment before you jump on your laptop to yarn rubbish?Well, that's an opinion afterall. I have never been convinced by Nigerians intelligence so far. That misconception only circulate around your small pea size brain. Developing social forum does not equate to showing intelligence. South Africans have developed many social network including the most famous "2go". |
agaugust: Welcome back to January 10 !!!Yes, the black race which continue to kill each other like dogs is considered genius. That's great. |
jp philips: I thought SA has one of the best schools in Africa, which kind grammer be this one eh? haba!Try to correct your grammar first. |
agaugust: there are different levels of training for reserve force according to each country's policy, and therefore different levels of combat readiness of the reserves. some are 100% combat ready like in Israel, some are 25% as in Nigeria. South Africa i dont know what percentage readiness they have until i see details. You should have first provided the source for your claim of your so called NYSC You are dreaming!! Nigeria has zero reserve forces. Our reserve force has many bases across the country and they even deploy to UN missions. They carry heavy weapons which are part of their inventory separate from those of SANDF The strength of SANDF= ±75 000 The strength of SA Reserve Forces= ±35 000. In SA, the minister of defence heads the following. Military Veterans SANDF SA Military Reserves Special Forces (President of the RSA) |
agaugust: why is it that south africa never wants to help the poor and weak africa countries without getting a financial reward like mineral mining contracts in return ? why ?Why are we helping Nigeria now to industrialise by investing more in your economy? |
agaugust: If you want to count that, Nigeria has the largest number in Africa for such class of trained reserves. Those are not properly organised reserves chief!!! I told you to go and learn. They do not have units and as such you cannot reduce them as reserves simply because they received military training. You have zero reserves. Fact!! South Africa has properly organised reserves who are working full time with their units. Structures which are properly equipped with heavy weapons. http://www.rfdiv.mil.za/ |
rka1: Because it was a UN mission and their responsibility. We have airlfted troops and equipment to missions in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali etc and even been evacuating Nigerians from CAR with a C-130 and chartered flights, so airlifting in not a problem. So, why is it a problem if we let UN to take reaponsibility of every cost that we incur. Why is it a problem if we SA do so? Why is it a problem when we do it? |
chris365: Oh, you couldn't site any better example but a UN blunder? What about Nigerian missions in Liberia, SL, Ivory coast, Mali, Bissau,? Did the UN pay before we embarked on those missions? You are accusing SA for being over-dependent on UN aid, but you failed to airlift your troops in Sudan out of your own expense. We did it, but we are always relying on UN for help. |
rka1: Stop lying, it is well documented about the exodus of SANDF personnel due to your policies of positive discrimination. So, why didn't your military exercise their own discretion just like we did other than waiting for UN. |
chris365: guy. either you are the worst mistake of SANDF, or they don't produce intelligent personnel anymore. shameDon't bring blogs which have been written from people's personal point of view. All pilots who are retiring from full-time military service because of salary related problems are free to pursue other opportunities at their own accord. Many of them still regard military with the highest esteem, thus have joined our reserve forces which is still part of SANDF. Nigeria also cannot sustain their peace keeping missions without the help of UN. Many of them were left stranded in Sudan where even two of their soldiers died because of depression, while SA could not wait for UN to provide transport, but charted their own plane home. |
rka1: No, you will be promoted from a Captain to a Major and paid as a Major. It is all budgeted for. There has never been a problem with officers being paid their salaries (I am not talking about deployment expenses etc, which is always open to abuse). Thanks, you have now answered it. If you are a captain and you are promoted to the rank of Major, L.t colonel or even Colonel, there is money involved which you will have to be paid for assuming a new higher rank. Budget=money. SANDF pay very good salaries to avoid exodus that you are experiencing in Nigeria. |
rka1: No my friend, it has nothing to do with it in the Nigerian military, it is purely on merit and positions available, hence the compulsory retirements to move people along. My friend, use your head. Do you by any chance want to tell me that you can be promoted to the rank of a colonel from captain in Nigeria and still get the salary of a captain, that's madness. No wonder there is such a biggest exodus of combatants in your military. |
rka1: Man, you are really limited in your knowledge of military promotions. A mass promotion just took place between the three services and has nothing to do with finances. If you don't pass your exams at each level, you don't get promoted and will be retired once you exceed a certain age in a rank.Promotions have a lot to do with finance my friend. If you are promoted to a rank of captain you will have to earn more than what you have been earning. You cannot just keep on promoting if you do not have enough money to do that. I have to admit that SA is also sometimes facing challenge in that respect. |
rka1: He was probably including Civil Defence corps members and other para-military organisations, which will take the total now to that amount or even more. Those are not active military personnel. If I include those in SA, the numbers would even reach above a million. |
rka1: That is a silly statement as that is why there have been promotions etc to cater for the new battalions, Brigades being created, so what you have said doesn't make sense. My friend we are dealing with subjects that media cannot even reach, but only intelligence sources. Nigeria does not use routine policy of promoting officers due to financial constraints. |
rka1: Quote where anybody said 150,00 has been reached? That is the aim, hence the establishment of the 7th Division in the NE, another one being set up in the South South region (amphibious division) and there are rumours that will be followed by possible new armoured division.Follow Agaugust posts which went to even above 180 000. |
scipher: joke of the yearWell, I thought that you have said that COAS confirmed the Nigerian military strength as 150 000. That number is yet to be reached. Yet, the biggest challenge facing Nigerian military from swelling in numbers is lack of opportunities and promotions. While they are trying to bring the numbers by let say 5000, another 5000 active personnel is resigning to pursue greener pasters in civilian life. |
rka1: You are obviously too childish or thick to read. It isn't me saying it but the COAS.COAS is telling lies, we have realiable stats in our defence sources. |
The only advanced reserve forces in Africa are those from South Africa, comprising of professional doctors, nurses, technicians, engineers, pilots, scientists, combat soldiers, etc. |
rka1: Nigerian Army alone has over 100,000 active personnel already and 9,000 recently came out of training. Will be 150,000 soon.150 000 in your dreams. |
Challenges facing Egypt is that they have large reserve base which does not train regularly and is poorly equipped without heavy weapons and zero pilots. |
agaugust: SANDF army, navy, air force combined total active is 74,000. i dont see any reliable source for 30,000 reserves.Nigeria has a total of slightly above 100 000 active personnel with zero reserves. Do you think we don't know anything about that? Egypt has 460 000 active personnel + 800 000. |
agaugust: even with your inflated false figures of about 100,000 the Egyptian 1.5 million man army will sourround and eat up the whole south african military the way colony of ants cover a single cube of sugarThose are not false figures mister. Read: http://en.academic.ru/dic.nsf/enwiki/582397 Read: http://camopedia.org/index.php?title=South_Africa Chief, the only person inflating numbers here is you. Egypt has 460 000 active personnel including their guards plus 800 000 reserves. Unlike in SA, people who have completed their military basics in Egypt automatically become part of reserve force when they resign. If I am not mistaken, that policy started not long ago. Surely, if that was the same on us we should have levelled them since we train thousands of young matriculants every year through military skills development program to serve in the army for the period of two years. |
agaugust: South Africa has only 25 IRIS-T missiles.PL-2 is a scrap yard. Bwahahaha!! The only one I fear is PL-9. |
Nigerian Airforce has only 20 PL-9 AAMs on their inventory. "In 2005 it was reported that Nigeria has approved $251 million USD to purchase 15 Chengdu F-7 fighters from China. The deal includes 12 F-7NI (NI = Nigeria) single seat fighters, and 3 FT-7NI dual-seat trainers.[10] The $251 ($252?) million package included $220 million for 15 aircraft, plus $32 million for armaments, including 20 live PL-9C AAM, 10 training PL-9 rounds, unguided rockets" Bwahahahahaha!!! |
agaugust: Lol, South Africa will use its 50,000 soldiers to defeat Egypt's 1.5 million soldiers ? Lol Even your sangboma herbalist will not be able to help you.SA has a total of over 74000 active personnel + over 30000 reserves. |
agaugust: the comment you posted by @frosbel is the personal opinion of the man frosbel, on page one when this debate began.1. South Africa 2. Egypt 3. Ethiopia 4. Nigeria 5. Algeria |
agaugust: south africa has total air superiority over zimbabwe, NOT nigeria.South Africa has a total Air superiority over Nigeria. That, I fully concur with 100%. |
Gerald Austine: dude ur yansh has been exposed dis is wat ma fellow naija brodas have been sayin on dis trend dat ur airforce is an overrated, ill manpowered, shiny shiny airforce and there is proof provided above and you are laughing or dont you have any lie to spew to try and cover your *ss that is full of sh*t or are you just a self proclaimed fighter pilot@Agaugaust you will get hurt my friend, BEWARE of b0oby traps. SAAF has the so called SAAF Reserves which has a pool of pilots who are highly skilled and are even more than the sum of Griffins and Hawks added together. http://www.af.mil.za/reserves/reserves.htm |
chris365: and how has this changed the fact that it's trueSouth Africa has a free media and every country in Africa have the worst challenges than those of SA. Nigeria has no free media which can openly criticise their military. |
