AugustineAgain: Battle hardened soldiers do not look like Hollywood models you have in SANDF who sleep at home 365 days every year....Zero war time.
It doesn't change the fact that they look poor and hungry with old weapons that look like those of rebels.

In my eyes, I see rebels in them.

NaijaPikinGidi: So far, the Government and people of Nigeria and the gallant NA have stood firm in the onslaught against the BH insurgents, yet on the flipside it is funny to see how our faint Hearted South Africans are panicking and getting desperately paranoid everyday over Boko Haram's imagined presence in South Africa. It makes me wonder what manner of wimps you have for leaders and military men! Funny how you now agree with the NA ... that BH are faceless and not easy to identify becauuse they live amongst normal citizens!

Good to know that the SA government and their weak SANDF are learning a lot from the priceless experience/expertise of our intelligence/security/military formations.

If your SANDF are up to scratch, I see no reason why you South Africans should panic over something the NA is creditably dealing with.

===============

South Africans should not be surprised if Boko Haram splinter groups are operating in the country, Deputy International Relations Minister Luwellyn Landers said on Wednesday.

While there was no proof the militant group was operational in South Africa, he was concerned and said, "That has to be a concern for anybody and we shouldn't be surprised if they are here."

"Someone who does a lot of work in Africa said to me it's very difficult to pinpoint just who belongs to Boko Haram because they have succeeded in integrating in every community they seek to be part of."

[...]

"They don't go around wearing specific colours or overalls or logos, so you'll never know that the person sitting next to you is a member of Boko Haram. That's how effective they've become," Landers said.

Stupi.d that cannot understand what was the minister refering to. The minister was merely seeking SA attention on the issue of Boko Haram that it affect us all. The minister sought SA involvement in helping Nigeria, that's all.

Meanwhile, SA churches have been praying for the people of Northeast Nigeria whose military has been critisized by the world to be weak and coward.

conm: The African National Congress in Tanzania

"After taking power in Tanzania, Nyerere became one of the architects for the formation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) and remained an ardent supporter of the continent’s liberation struggles. Tanzania provided facilities for liberation movements such as the African National Congress (ANC), Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), the Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU), the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU), the South West African People’s Organisation (SWAPO), FRELIMO and the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), and allowed them to operate from its soil. In addition, the Tanzanian government allowed the organisations to use Radio Tanzania to broadcast messages to their respective countries.

In the aftermath of the Sharpeville Massacre, the government banned the ANC and the PAC in South Africa. The ANC then sent Frene Ginwala to Tanzania with instructions to establish an office in Dar-es Salaam, and await further communication. Once in the country, she worked as a journalist while carrying out work for the ANC, which included receiving comrades arriving in Dar-es Saalam. Meanwhile, in 1960 the party instructed Oliver Tambo to clandestinely leave the country and establish offices for the movement in exile. He was also authorised to seek international support for the struggle against apartheid. Tambo skipped the country through Bechuanaland, in a car driven by Ronald Segal. Once in Bechuanaland he contacted Frene Ginwala, who made arrangements for a plane to fly Tambo, Dr Yusuf Dadoo and Segal to Dar-es-Salaam. Upon arrival they were welcomed by Julius Nyerere, and from that time Tanzania became an important point of contact and transit for the ANC in exile." you can go through the link and read more for yourself: http://www.sahistory.org.za/topic/umkhonto-wesizwe-mk-exile?page=8

I look at you as a fool because you seem to know nothing about history. Malawi was darling of apartheid while Angola was under Portuguese at that time. Only after it was liberated its when ANC opened camps in Angola while the biggest military base of ANC was still in Tanzania.

You are talking about Zimbabwe fighting with rebel group such as UNITA!! reallyhuh Do you know how many wars has Tanzania fought??

"What the people of Tanzania have given to us can never be measured in monetary terms. Nor can it be quantified. It was from Tanzania and many other countries that we executed many military campaigns against apartheid South Africa. Most importantly, it was with the moral and material support of the Tanzanian people that we managed to defeat apartheid." these are words of your president Jacob Zuma read: http://www.thepresidency.gov.za/pebble.asp?relid=4512&t=79

Why did Nigeria buy both two variants of Bofors F-77 A and F-77 B ? Yet SIPRI records only F-77B.

agaugust: Otomat MK 1 has datalink inbuilt and linked to the launcher, every Otomat has datalink, only diffrence is MK 2 has extra TG-2 datalink for helicopter guidance. You failed science in school, most long range missiles use inbuilt datalink to communicate with launcher, even tiny Eritrea has datalink inside its BVR missiles and MiG-29 jets.
You want to say all the billions of dollars spent by other African countries on weapons from 1970 to 2014 does not include any single datalink on the whole continent except in South Africa? You are a complete maad-man, even civilains have datalink, is its that cheap to buy. Mugu grin
Wrong X. Not every Otomat MK1 has inbuilt datalink, only the later model. Infact, majority of them don't have especially those acquired by African countries.

You South Africans are just a poorly-educated bunch of poor thinkers writing rubbish about Nigerian weapons.

Nigeria has two types of Bofors FH-77, we have both F-77A and F-77B versions. I have weblink sources.

Nigeria has 73 units of Bofors FH-77 artillery.

F-77B has been firing to range over 35km since 1999 Kargil war. Nigeria bought new batch after the war.

SIPRI is poor source of Nigerian weapons, screwed up the Bofors and Otomat.

Nigeria has both Otomat MK 1 and Mk 2.

Otomat Mk 1 range is 80 km without any helicopter guidance datalink.

Many African countries have datalink weapons and there is nothing special about datalink, it is just a communication device and not the monopoly of South Africa. Show me how Algeria, Egypt and Nigeria have no datalink you fools ! Even tiny Eritrea has datalink weapons.

Every Otomat missile ever built in this world has it's own internal datalink and that comes with it connected to the launcher.

I have sources, weblinks.

Nigeria has datalink. Otomat has datalink inside it for both MK 1 and Mk 2.

Infantry 150 ammo, USA carries 210 ammo, does SANDF carry up to that?

Nigeria mixes infantry weapons from range 300 meters to 3km, I have photos.

You SA mofos should show us proof that every navy frigate that is not photographed at sea every 6 months is not combat operational, we don't see photos of most world navy frigates at sea for years.

Later this weekend I will deal with these sources and photos, I don't want to start my day with some foolish South African dumbos. See you later.

Nigeria does not have otomat MK1 and that I bet with my life. It does not make any sense when you say they both have two variants which is unsupportive. Use your mind even though we all know that your brain is just a pea size because of the shape of the back of your head which is flat. The question will now be which platform do they use MK1 and which do they use MK2?

The missiles which your old grandfather Arandu is armed with remains to be Otomat MK1 (with no datalink). There is always an error in Journalism and your source must be deemed null and void.

Nigerian troops burn buses in Lagos

Lagos - Nigerian soldiers blocked roads, fired shots into the air and burned several buses in Lagos on Friday after a soldier was killed in a bus accident, an episode residents said recalled the country's former military dictatorship.

Nigeria has been a democracy since shortly after the death of military ruler Sani Abacha 1998, but rights groups say abuses and indiscipline by its troops remain a problem, especially in the remote northeast, where an Islamist insurgency threatens stability across Africa's largest economy and top oil producer.

"The rampaging soldiers already burnt five... buses," Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, director general of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for Lagos state, told Reuters by telephone, calling it "barbaric and uncivilised."
Acts of indiscipline.

agaugust: No way ! Military today's expert analyst was NOT misled by Wikipedia, his own source is different and nothing in his webpage relates to Wikipedia, his page was dedicated to Aradu Class warship Almirante Brown and he was saying things you cannot even find on Wikipedia, his source is unique and says Nigeria has Otomat Mk 2 missile....FACT!

Even Otomat Mk 1 has over 80 km range and Aradu beats Valour frigate Exocet missile 70 km range, so no matter which of our two Otomat versions we decide to use to K.ill South Africa's unfortunate navy, your warships d.eath will be sudden and final.

.
Otomat MK1 has a range of 60Km, unless you are suffering from a defect of the brain as a result of the screw that was not tightened well.

Stupid, the writer was doing a misinfomed research on MEKO class which both Argentina and Nigeria have. He probably consulted wikipedia which was wrong at the time to compare the armaments of both frigates and was completely thrown into the bush by the source.

Nigeria does not have Otomat MK2, that is merely a claim unsupported by many sources. Fact!!! Nigeria posesses psedo-Otomat MK2.

agaugust: You need to go delete Military Today website or call in a hacker to edit it for you, it says Nigeria has Otomat Mk 2 and that fact remains a torment for South Africans. FACT !!
Otomat Mk 1 has two different operation modes and two different ranges, mode one range is 64 km and mode two range is over 80 km.
It is written inside the source used by @Patches and he is just pretending not to see it, he posts the 64 km and cuts off the 80 km part of the information details.
I also posted it here last year, that's why I did not repeat it, just waiting to see if you SA mofos would be honest enough to say you saw it there...or else I will post it myself.
Nigerian navy has 40 units Otomat anti-ship missiles with ranges 80 km to 180 km.
South Africa's half impotent 'Blue water' navy has 13 units Exocet anti-ship missiles with range of only 70 km.
Nigerian navy warships will sink ALL the weak warships South African navy is boasting about. FACT !!
.
That source was written by someone who was misled to believe Nigeria has MK2 by probably wikipedia at the time it was not corrected. Now the writer would be ashamed to learn that infact Nigeria does not have MK2 as he previously thought. Fact!! Nigeria does not have Otomat MK2 variant.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 7:35pm On Jul 03, 2014
agaugust: You have cataract blocking your eyes? Read my post again, I said Nigeria has both Otomat Mk 1 and Mk 2 since different sources claim both and there were two separate deliveries of Otomat missiles to Nigerian navy, 25 missiles delivered after Mk 1 entered market and 15 missiles after Mk 2 entered market.

No source is superior to the other, even SIPRI has been proved to make many mistakes about Nigerian weapons. Does not matter how many sources mention Mk 1 or Mk 2, and you don't have 6 credible sources. SIPRI is just one, Harpoon database and the Spanish website are the same as Harpoon copies the Spanish website, I brought those two websites to this forum not you, so I know their content is copy and paste of each other. Your 4th source is Facebook and only dummies will use Facebook as a valid military source, I too can open a new Facebook page for NNS Aradu and quote Otomat Mk 2 there, how about that? Your 5th source is Wikipedia and it is unreliable, last year it said Mk 2 then this year an unknown person changed it to Mk 1 so how do we trust it? I can go open Wikipedia now and change it to Mk 2 and quote Military Today website as my citation/source, how about that? Your 6th source is Naval Institute, a book that is old and never gets updated after it is printed and goes to market for sale, the pages you posted are old and outdated paper pages copied by google and uploaded. If SIPRI was a paper book sold to street buyers it will forever show that Nigeria has Su-25 Frogfoot jets delivered in 2013.

ALL YOUR ARGUMENTS ARE HEREBY DEMOLISHED.

As long as I have a world respected source saying Mk 2, my argument stands until Nigerian navy makes public declaration to the contrary.

OTOMAT MK 1 RANGE IS 80 KM

EXOCET MM40 RANGE IS 70 KM

Quote any Otomat Mk 1 or Mk 2, NNS Aradu has superior missile range over all South African navy warships. Fact !

Many modern missiles have data link inbuilt and linked to the launcher, data link is what a lot of long range missiles use to communicate with launch ship or aircraft.

Otomat Mk1 does not have data link for 3rd party communication with a helicopter, but has data link for 2nd party communication with the launcher warship as a long range missile.

Every country that has modern long range missiles has data links, it is nothing special. Don't fool yourself thinking data links exist only in South Africa, you must be grossly in.sane grin

You half brained South Africans should stop confusing weapon to launcher inbuilt data links with a country's armed forces inter- force communication data link for passing around information within their armed forces. They are two different things you dumbos don't know in your ANC prison yards. Fools grin

.
Otomat MK1 range is 60KM. Fact!! Anything other than the above proven facts is lies.

Moreover, Nigeria does not have MK2, finish and klaar.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 7:32pm On Jul 03, 2014
agaugust: Show us proof that NNS Aradu is not operational as at today July 2014. Is a heavily armed frigate-destroyer supposed to be chasing pirates in gulf of Guinea? Why didn't your Valour frigates catch all pirates raiding SADC region around South African oceans?

Aradu has no war to fight and no work to do, she is NOT a patrol ship or OPV, so she was in reserve. Age makes her due for mid-life upgrade like NNS Thunder is much older than Aradu and so Thunder went through same process of mid life upgrade by US coast guards.

Aradu is in 2014 Nigerian navy published schedule list for full mid life refit and that is a standard proceedure for standard navy establishments worldwide, so Nigerian navy is not an exception. Most Nigerian warships you think are not operational are all now fully refitted and fully operational, yet the 2012 and 2013 information on all foreign websites still say they are not operational and may never operate again, yet those ships are now back in full force, NNS Siri and NNS Ekun are two such warships that exercised with Chinese navy frigates in Nigeria few weeks ago.

Around April a journalist asked the Navy Admiral commanding the fleet about the Aradu which the journalist claimed was grounded according to his own outdated information. The Admiral updated him immediately that Experts were already working on Aradu, nobody ever knew that fact until disclosed, and few weeks after that statement, NNS Aradu surprisingly sailed out of naval base to an undisclosed destination last month June.

Show us proof that NNS Aradu cannot fire it's 80 km range Otomat Mk1 and 180 km range Mk 2 missiles. Your opinion =/= Fact of today.

Go kiss a frog and tell your fairy tales to poorly informed people like yourself.
There is no need for proving what you have already written. Before there could be any down signal on the forum you have written that Arandu was heading to an unknown destination for upgrades.
