blackfase: You are very naive. Go look for the ancient history of Constantinople (Turkey) then come back with another dumb narrative... Sir. about TURKEY : In the early 13th century, prior to heading to Jerusalem, the armies of the Crusades were diverted to Constantinople over a power struggle. When their promised payments fell through, they sacked the city in 1204 and established a Latin state. Although the Byzantines reclaimed control of Constantinople in 1261, the city remained the sole major population center of what was now a shell of the empire. Shortly after ascending to the Ottoman throne in 1451, Mehmed II began formulating plans for a major assault on Constantinople. With the overwhelming size of his armed forces, and additional advantages gained by the use of gunpowder, he succeeded where his predecessors failed, claiming Constantinople for Muslim rule on May 29, 1453.. How is this similar to Nigeria's state? Like I said, it is believable when you say they want to islamize the north. Others are just out of it. |

Telekinetic: What you should also understand is that Islamization isn’t instant as most people think it is. Its like global warming. It’s a gradual process that may span over generations. For now these guys are just laying the groundwork. If nothing is done to nip this in the bud, Lagos in 50 years will be totally islamized. 50 years? Okay, let us assume Tinubu or an Eastern wins the election . What will be the plot then? Islamization ? |

Coldie: There’s a plot for real but it’s not islamization.
Ask yourself y are they hell bent on setting up permanent government backed settlement all over Nigeria in the name of ruga?
After what happened in Kwarra state and in the north as a whole whereby a foreign tribe came and conquered the indigenous northern tribes, why are u surprised. Who know if back then when people were warning the Yoruba owners of kwarra they said it wasn’t possible till it happened Exactly what I am saying . There might be a plot, but islamization isn't part of it . What happened in Kwara can't be compared to modern state of the country |

If I ever had doubts, the recent unchecked and unchallenged bold actions of Bandits have put my doubts to rest! The North is basically robbing the South blind!
That they can even sacrifice their own poor citizens in the process chills my blood! Yes. These are one of the things we should be talking about and not the islamization rubbish. You are thinking . Allocating resources to cater for "repentant" Bandits. Yet, you won't settle ASUU. |

You want power for free. That's okay. I accept that. But in real life, things have to be paid for. Organised facts? How is it a fact ? It is a fact that revenues generated by discos are not being reported well. A false report is what you call organised facts? |

emorse: GBAM! This I know for sure.
Modrov is spot on in his submissions going by the OFFICIAL FIGURES. But those figures are SERIOUSLY WRONG and evidences that prove so are right before his eyes. I just wonder how he fails to see them. Exactly. @Modrov. I am wondering why you aren't seeing this. I would have believed those reports if a truthful staff hadn't told me all these. A lot of revenue goes unrecorded. Even sales of prepaid meters. |
Politics › Re: Confusion As Disco Announces Tariff Increase, NERC Silent by FILEBE(m): 9:17am On Aug 29, 2021 |
Modrov: .
Which is why we had the MAP programme...which has rolled out a lot of meters to many people.
One management staff told a realtive of mine that they don't earn enough revenue from tarrif collections. Esppcailly in rural areas. Also a Abuja DISCO staff once commented that 70% of their REVENUE in the fct alone comes from the city limits. Most people in the rural areas and satellite towns of fct don't pay much.
Plus, if they were rolling in money like the telcos, they should be attracting investment . They should also be able to take loans.. tHE FACT THEY can't tells me a lot.
You can earn N2 billion in a month in your business, but if your projected earnings were N4 billion, that's still a loss. You are making a lot of money, but still losing money. We had to fight tooth and nail to get meters. Even as it is .. it isn't easy to get. That is the corruption I am telling you about . The staff that said they don't earn much from rural areas compard to cities is right. That is no brainer . I am talking about Ikedc and Ekedp. These people record any revenue they like and leave out what they want to embezzle . I am still telling you to find a truthful staff of these companies. He will tell you. Currently Ikedp records more revenue than ekedp in books but in reality it is the other way round |
Politics › Re: Confusion As Disco Announces Tariff Increase, NERC Silent by FILEBE(m): 8:54am On Aug 29, 2021 |
Modrov: Well, they don't , as this Nairametrics article tells you...
Also, below is a page from a 2018 report on 'Solving the liquidity challenges in the power sector' It makes for interesting reading. Why were they unwilling to give out prepaid meters if they don't make so much from estimated bills? Prepaid meters would have sold whatever revenue deficits they have or had. But guess what? They make so much from estimated readings than they would on prepaid meters, hence, they became reluctant to give them out. I am telling you that you have to be in the system to know what is going on . Enquire from staffs and management and see . |
Politics › Re: Confusion As Disco Announces Tariff Increase, NERC Silent by FILEBE(m): 8:19am On Aug 29, 2021 |
Modrov: Yeah but the reason why there were so many companies to compete was because they were allowed to set their price .And thus make a profit. This attracted more companies more money more competition and more investment and price falling
Sim cards used to be very very expensive. Infact making calls also used to be very expensive. People back then were virtually calling on goverment to set prices .thankfully they did not
Discos canmot set their prices, thus they run at a loss, and thus they also canmot attract investment. Also they are virtual monopolies in their region of service due to the way the laws were set up.
By the way I don't work for the discos. I began reading up around the issues in the sector from 2013. It's an ongoing endeavour No they don't. Let some one from the inside tell you. You will know what is going on. They make huge profits. The corrupt practices going on in that company is just too much . |
Politics › Re: Confusion As Disco Announces Tariff Increase, NERC Silent by FILEBE(m): 7:34am On Aug 29, 2021 |
Modrov: We are.paying for power
Not at the price the discos need it to be to make a profit.
That's why.
Meanwhile in the GSM sector we have bettwr telephony than we did in the 1980s because we paid rates that enabled the GSM companies to make a profit to build up all the infrastructure that we use to chat and browse. Are sure are you about this? Are you a staff of Ekedp ot Ikedc? The GSM part. It was competition. It has nothing to do with how much we pay. MTN might have been milking us if Glo hadn't slashed its price . Are you in the system? Because it seems you will rather blame the consumer for a private firm's incompetency. If offer great service, the consumer has no other option than to pay. What can you say about water cooperation? |
Politics › Re: Confusion As Disco Announces Tariff Increase, NERC Silent by FILEBE(m): 7:13am On Aug 29, 2021 |
Modrov: We don't have normal power supply because we see power as a right and not as the product it actually is.
As a result we underpay our power sector and in return our power sector does not have the money to fix or upgrade things What did I just read? For real? . We are paying for this power, aren't we? It is not for free. We are paying . We even pay much more . What kind of excuse are you making for them? What is the total power output we currently generate? Is it an ideal one to serve Nigeria? If we generate enough power to go round , I might have said you are right. But, I am sorry, you are wrong |
Politics › Re: Confusion As Disco Announces Tariff Increase, NERC Silent by FILEBE(m): 6:59am On Aug 29, 2021 |
We still haven't gotten stable poweer supply. At this age and time that we still have to have outages like it is normal. The Nigerian government has failed us in power sector from the beginning.
Ekedp and ikedc. These companies rake in millions If not billions daily then corruption within these firms is a massive one. They should look into these corrupt practices rather than loot us for money.
Give us 24hrs power!!!! Is that too much to ask for ? .
People that made Nigeria what is it today, God go judge una |
