PoliticsRe: Truth About Muslims by FindOut(m): 5:24am On Jul 09, 2014
danot1030: allow me to make few response to ur comment. U will need to wake up and accept d realities. 1. Dubai is actually peaceful cos they giv room to civilisation and encourage people of other religion to come there. Am even afraid if the atmosphere in Dubai will last cos d moment islamic fundamentalist comes up to enforce islamic concept d peace in Dubai will be eroded.
What islamic concept? Do you know Shariah is used in the UAE? Actually, Shariah, when properly applied, pretty much holds muslims responsible for the safety of people of other faiths. Ideally, the safest place for a christian is in a country practicing Shari'ah.Seek understanding and stop believing propaganda. And what do you mean by "give room for civillization"? Read your history bro, and discover which people began civillization. Which group of people laid the foundations of mathematics and medicine and other sciences? Which people established the first university in the world? Don't even talk about Islam and civilization. Do your research.

danot1030: 2. Its unfortunate that u blamed politics and other reasons for the unhappiness in islamic countries, is there is no politics in other countries that ar no islamic? Libya and Iraq were unhappy countries before d intervention of US.
And so, Saddam Hussein and Ghadaffi are somehow representations of Islam right? You see in Islam, we do not venrate leaders unnecessarily unlike how some people (not all christians do this) pretty much worship their GO/Pastor more than God. We respect the leaders but we can question their decisions when it goes against Islamic principles. And you obviously know NOTHING about Libya. I can't speak for Iraq but despite Ghadaffi's excesses, That guy was good to his people and majority of Libyans were living in comfort, many of which was provided by the state.. Again, do your research

danot1030: 3. U also claimed that in those unhappy islamic countries women and children are been killed like wot is happening in northern Nigeria. Can u tell us the religious group responsible for all these killings.
So is it muslims? Are those muslim women and children being killed "in the name of Allah"? Are Israeli soldiers muslims in disguise? Or those firing drones are also muslims doing "jihad"? What are you saying bro? Actually, people who claim to be fighting christians are killing muslims almost daily in Central African Republic right there in Africa. How often does that make the news? Yeah, because it won't paint Islam in bad light as every news item about Islam should.

danot1030: The women marginalisation in islamic countries, shuld we blame dat also on the non-muslims.
Lol at women marginalisation. So because they don't conform to some people's idea of "liberation", they are automatically being "marginalized"? Ok. I can post many links here proving that the opposite is the case but I'll allow you to do that research yourselfto see if the women are really been marginalized. That said, I'm not holding brief for some of these countries because I agree some of them could treat their women...and men better. But be rest assured that NO RELIGION IN THE WORLD HOLDS WOMEN IN HIGHER ESTEEM THAN ISLAM and I'm not making this up. You could post many links to challenge this assertion but I speak based on evidence which yo will find in the Qur'an and hadeeth. Some people think it is islamic practice to forcefully marry their daughters to people but they are wrong and such marriage is invalid according to islam. Some people think it is islamic practice not to send their daughters to school and they are also wrong, and islam makes seeking knowledge compulsory for male and female without distinction. All these things are there. And that is why like I said earlier, despite all the negative propaganda about Islam, the religion is still growing. I left Nigeria 11 months ago and I am in what many would call the best country ever....a western country of course. YOU NEED to see the muslim population here, you WILL be shocked and it keeps increasing. These people are muslims because they sought to find out about islam, to understand why someone will claim he is doing Allah a favour by killing people and they saw the truth buried behind the lies we are constantly being forcefed in the media.

danot1030: In conclusion I will submit that if the muslims will admit d realities about their religion and speak the truth to each other the evil intents in there fold will vanish.
Balderdash. I agree with you though that muslims need to preach and practice ISLAM more often. No religion has ever been more villified than Islam especially in recent times , yet somehow, its true adherents are still some of the best of mankind. It's laid down principles on charity to the less privileged, kindness to both muslims and non-muslims, widows and orphans, social security and welfare, honouring parents, and doing good deeds even smiling to the person next to you are unparalleled by any group or religion or society past and present till date. That many muslims are not practising Islam as they ought to, with some totally twisting it to suit their selfish ends will never change what Islam is. And it will never stop the faithful adherents from practicing their religion and spreading the true message of islam.

Do you perhaps think it is sarcasm or uninentional the word Islam is derived from Salam which means Peace? The foundation of Islam is peace, and so it shall remain bro. A billion Shekaus and Al-Shababs will never change that.

I am proud to be a muslim bro.
PoliticsRe: Truth About Muslims by FindOut(m):
Toaskarity: Well said..nd a FACT!
Very soon, we'll see you hustling for Dubai Visa.

@Post, sensationalism is what it is: sensationalism.

Anyone interested should study the history of each of those countries mentioned to gain an understanding of why "muslims" are not happy there.

Why are they not happy in Gaza? Israel.
Why are they not happy in Iraq? We know why.
Why are they not happy in Egypt? Politics.
How about Syria? Politics.
How about Afghanistan? We know why.

In all these countries, muslims are there suffering, women and children are being killed, yet all we can do is gloat. Is that what God teaches us? Honestly, with each passing day, I become ashamed of many Nigerians here. We have allowed ourselves to HATE one religion and by extension, its people. Muslims on nairaland have NEVER directed this much hostility to christians. Ever. There's a thread on frontpage about muslims being attacked, a christian with a good conscience will be ashamed at many of the comments posted there.

Even around the time of the Bible, when Prophets existed, was Israel peaceful? Are there no countries with christians today experiencing hardship? Are there no christians in muslim countries living in peace? Is there no crime in Rome? Is Israel not primarily responsible for the unhappiness of the muslims in Gaza? Are there no muslims in "christian" countries still experiencing persecution and discrimination because of their faith?

Above all, is Islam not still growing? Despite all the negative propaganda and misconceptions?

There is God o. And that God will judge us all based on how well we obeyed His commandments and how we treated our fellow men.

lyntiffany: Forget all this your write up , the Muslims are fighting for an Islamic country. Nigeria(north east). call theirs boko haram and the other ISIS ( Iraq ). I know mention name oooo!
Really? Which muslims? The same ones who have been living peacefully with themselves for years on end? Seems you don't know the typical hausa man, he wants way much less from life than those of us from the south. They do not have much, but they are content, which is why many of them never really felt the need to acquire western education...up until the last couple of years. Unfortunately, some of those kids whose parents took the bold and sensible decision to send them to school were slaughtered. Have you heard anything about the religious distribution of those poor boys? No. Beacause all the names that were mentioned were muslim names.

So why would they be killing the people in the country they want to form and crippling its economy and taking it back to the stone age? Why has the rest of the country they supposedly want to secede from being peaceful? Are there armed soldiers guarding the rest of Nigeria 24/7?
You might want to scratch your head once more and think again.

I wonder how some of you with your wicked and insensitive hearts towards people who simply do not belong to the same religion as you have the courage to ask the same God who created these people for favours. Some of you have even in the past or present being helped by muslims, yet you come here and type all these things. God is watching you.
PoliticsRe: CNN Claims BH Working With Niger Delta Kidnappers by FindOut(m): 1:39pm On Jul 04, 2014
lyntiffany: what are you saying? Majority of the kidnapped chibok gals are Christians, majority of the places these guys attacks are Christian dominated areas e.g Sabo ngari .Pls tell me that big hit that has occurred in the mosque or any muslim dominated area ,if they had been any? Muslims a.k.a boko haram are mostly against Christians. Copy that.
You might want to read the news again. Then ask what religion are in the majority in Kano motorparks, Fed Govt College Buni Yadi etc. Also tell me how many Islamic clerics and traditional rulers that have been killed are Christians, or if any mosque has never been attacked. Google will be of assistance.

The last bolded is the reason you refuse to see while your eyes are open but unfortunately, it won't get you anywhere. Goodluck to you.

Which muslims? The ones being killed everyday by bokoharam bombs or extrajudicially by the millitary? Or the ones whose daughters have been kidnapped? Or the ones whose sons were slaughtered at a Federal Government College where they had gone to gain an education (yes, insensitive dolts have forgotten about that)? Or the ones whose villages and markets are being massacred by armed men daily while the millitary watches, then comes in later to arrest the surving ones and label them suspects??

Why not say all the killings carried out since 1945 in Northern Nigeria were sponsored by the Nigerdeltans.

Even maitaitsine was lead by an ijaw.

Madmen parading as sane men.

GEJ till 2019.
Lol. I'll ignore your display of lack of basic comprehension but I can't resist asking you these:

What happens after the 2019? Won't GEJ leave Aso rock? How do you think Nigeria will be by then? How much better (or worse) would the poor people have fared? How much better (or worse) would security, healthcare etc have improved (or deteriorated) ? How proud would you be to be a Nigerian? GEJ on the other hand would almost certainly be very wealthy, wealthier than he is now, via stealing/corruption, but how about YOU? and million of Nigerians out there who are not happy.

Think....at least try.

Obinoscopy: I'm surprised that our white folks don't know the difference between a Niger Delta Militant and a Boko Haram Insurgent.
Obinoscopy: This confirms my suspicion that our white brothers don't actually understand our insurgency problem. This means that the slogan: "America will know" is wrong afterall cheesy.
Maybe they know the "difference" even better than you. Maybe they know that boko haram militants might be speaking hausa or arabic, but are no different from the Niger Delta millitants who were sponsored by some people who neded some violence at a particular region at a particular time for reasons best known to them. What most Nigerians have refused to accept (due to tribalism and religious bigotry) is that boko haram is NOT fighting for any religious ideology. Those guys are criminals, pure and simple. Someone/group somewhere is funding and sustaining them, encouraging them to wipe out as many Northerners (xtians and muslims alike) as possible, render that region totally useless and use religion as the tool for further division (which never fails in that so-called 'religious' but vastly morally corrupt country)..

And those group of persons may NOT be from the North.

And they may well be in close association with tose who were sponsoring violence in the Niger Delta.

Did islam just start in Nigeria? Less than 10 years ago, the North was the MOST peaceful and arguably the most hospitable region in the country. Ask the southerners who have spent their lives there or even your brothers and cousins who did their NYSC there. So what went wrong? All will be revealed soon. Too much innocent blood has been shed.

We vilify muslims and Northerners daily on this forum without pity for these people living in these places where bombs are going off. We say they are boko haram sympathizers. People who have lost relatives, sources of income, freedom, peace, PEACE, to bokoharam millitants on one hand and Nigerian millitary on the other. But since they are mostly muslims, and bokoharam claims to be fighting for islam (even in ramadan, just like last ramadan and two ramadans ago when I believe even a MOSQUE was attacked in the evening), we refuse to reason and still call them sympathisers, with some even saying "they should continue killing themselves". And that is why now that a report has come out saying there is a link between bokoharam fighters and ND millitants, we easily dismiss it as false.

I'm not directing all of this at you Obinoscopy but I'm just sad that the citizens who live in fear daily are the same people being accused of supporting their attackers, all because it is convenient to do so.

Kindly produce your source for the bolded. I wonder how people like you consciously type false information and confidently click the submit button, knowing fully well that thousands of people will read what you've posted. Can you please give the name of ONE university (out of the over 4500 institutions in the USA) that offers the B.Pharm degree?

For anyone who's interested in how to become a pharmacist in the US, a simple google search which Mr. Misinformer above appears incapable of doing will produce a link like this http://www.wikihow.com/Become-a-Pharmacist

@Topic, I wholeheartedly support the conversion, but of course the necessary infrastructure, facilities and curriculum must be in place so that a Pharm.D. degree from Nigeria will be readily considered equal to a Pharm.D. degree obtained anywhere else outside the country.

Anyway, the issue now is that I intend to apply to biomedical/pharmaceutical sciences PhD do you think I should retake the test or should I just apply like that?
What are the chances I get funding if i do?

Please advice me on if I should take the Gre again or go ahead and apply.

Thank you and God bless
That's a decent score. What was your undergrad CGPA? If its a "strong" 2:1, you stand a chance. Also depends on what schools you r looking at too. Many PhD admits usually come with funding. Except for some of the snobbish very top notch schools, admission into a PhD program almost guarantees funding.

@ Article, Anyone who can "recognize" articles and has spoken to an American for longer than 30 minutes will instantly realize that Okupe did not write this article, neither did Omokri nor Abati. This article was very likely penned by an American, who may or may not be working for an American Public Relations firm. And to think that only recently did this incredibly sleazy government deny hiring any PR firm to boost its already justifiably dented image.

"Never believe any rumor about the government until they deny it" rings very true here. Nigeria surely has the WORST set of leaders since Independence currently running its affairs. When a government has to hire a PR firm to boost its image, you know that government is CLUELESS.

So she has to get pregnant for a man 3 times and abort 3 times because she loves him? What if she had lost her womb or her life in any of those abortions, you'll stilll say its because of love right? undecided See why men will continue to take some ladies for granted? it's because the ladies have already taken themselves for granted.
RomanceRe: After 3 Abortions, He Will Marry Another Lady This Month by FindOut(m):
Agreed... But take for once the comments that is coming from the men as if the said woman impregnated herself.

Many of them missed the part where she said she didn't give in to date the dude for about 6 months.

The missed the part where she said she TOLD him she was pregnant and the cold response he gave and the excuse that followed.

They missed the part where she said this dude deflowered HER! Do you know how painful that is?

These guys should read that OP all over again and put their own sister or daughter into the picture.

One thing is clear, they will do it to any girl.
2sexy, the reason why in cases like this, it is the lady who gets blamed more is simple: Put 2 people in a room. The first person is already full of s.h.it. Then he offers the sh.i.t. to the 2nd person who the takes it & keeps on taking it, knowing what it is or seeing signs that point to what it is. Who is more fooli.sh? Of course its the 2nd person. For every lady who gets deceived and used by a guy, there are other ladies who REFUSED to be deceived or used by guys not because they didnt love them, but because they knew their right from their left & never allowed emotions to becloud their God given sense of reasoning.

This is why people should give proper relationship/sex/life education to their sisters and daughters especially coz they need it more. Unfortunately most parents today are busy chasing money or setting bad examples already for their kids to bother about fulfilling their responsibilities to them, which unknown to many, transcends material and emotional needs.
RomanceRe: After 3 Abortions, He Will Marry Another Lady This Month by FindOut(m): 7:08am On Dec 27, 2013
You see, this scenario has happened to different people before, is still happening and even if we are to judge only based on some comments on this thread alone, it is sure to happen again.

Kulyie and Lomaxx don talk am finish.

This is what happens when people refuse to differentiate between love and lust (both as donor and recipient), then deliberately refuse to use their common sense because society, movies, mumu friends & some mumu people on places like nairaland will tell you that love is blind and as such, cannot have anything to do with common sense. Imagine someone here still justifying the abortions implying she did the right thing!

For those who are in "relationships" that's already bearing the tell tale signs (which of course are being ignored thanks to the compulsory leave common sense has been sent on), better wise up. Later when some people come up and give reasons why se.x before marriage is a bad idea, using quotes from both scriptures and also common sense, age-old tradition & plain wisdom, we'll say that all of them have smelly mouths. No one is perfect but to a large extent in certain situations, you can control your mistakes.

The deeds have been done & now its up to the girl to handle the aftermath carefully and properly. Best thing to do is leave the guy alone to God as his judgement will surely never pass him by (2sexy's uncle's experience is just one of several that other randy fellas n babes are still going through). The alternative which is to hurt him yourself will never bring her satisfaction and may also land her in deep trouble.

Another thing we readers should not forget is that we havn't heard the guy's side. The lady in question may indeed be really in love with the guy but when you are looking for a life partner, you definitely will look beyond love. You see cases when a guy leaves a lady /vice versa after dating her for many years and you label him cruel but when you hear from him/her, or get factual accounts of the lady/guy's character & attributes, you'll realise that no matter how tolerant you are, you will never agree to spend the rest of your life with such a person. However, he's still a douche bag apparently for leading her on all along and going ahead to lie to his mum just to paint her bad.

I wish her well o, & I pray never to fall into or put anyone in this kind of situation.

Haaa! Finally on the last page...after 30 plus pages backlog I had to read through.

Congratulations to all those who have gotten their visas and have left or are about to leave. Big Francis, African stores full Maryland..infact not just African, NIGERIAN. You'll be fine. However like Imperiouxx said, the normal grocery stores can give you some basic things like okra, potatoes, vegetables (more variety than Niaja IMO), pepper, tomatoes (different types, though most of them are annoyingly not as red and succulent as the naija ones sad ) e.t.c.

Those applying for visas, a good response to the question "Why this school" could involve you making specific reference to a Professor by name in your particular program or/and a particular research conducted by your school. It helps when you mention that you have corresponded with that professor. The VOs have no immediate way of verifying this. It won't take you 15 minutes of internet time to get the names of the faculty (professors) in your department. Put that in your interview preparation. All those student faculty ratio, good to international students etc usually don't cut it. & from what I've observed, that question carries a lot of weight. Wish you guys the best.

Peeps in the US particularly those studying in college towns, how una dey cope during breakshuh? I'm almost thinking of buying a TV due to boredom.....unless I still go on my intended road trip to the east coast on friday wink

Then, Imperiouxx, OjaP & other veterans, abeg una don hear of NIW?

That said, earning 1 million dollars a year in Nigeria is a very big deal because most of that money will be raw cash entering her account. Taxes won't consume much compared to if she was earning same in the US or UK.

Ikengawo: this song is extremely boring, the guy that complained is right. Though it's not dbanjs job to report on poverty and suffering in Nigeria because he didn't cause it. Nigerian movies and music are escapist, they help people not think about the frustrations of life and that's why they're so excessively unrealistic and shallow. Still, we would be an irresponsible generation to allow our creative expression to go down in history as a constant unending fantasy about women's asses and drinking. You can see in the lyrics of a an Osita Osadebe, Fela Kuti, Sunny Ade, Prince Nico, Rex Lawson in comparison to Dbanj, Terry G, Davido, etc that we're a culture in decline. The type of indiscipline and lack of morals vision or grounding is not enough to sustain the type of enlightened or developed society we're aspiring to have because all of our kids want to be rappers, all of our girls want to be rappers side chicks and all of their friends aspire to be entourage. They think this music video is a 'life style'

even look at the comments saying this is a good video. If a club will allow you, anyone can make this video with an Iphone and single bottle on hennessy. This isn't a good video, if you want to see good videos leave your village and study the world's videography. Hennessy is using the greed of our artists to push alcohol on their young fans. How old is the average person that listens to Dbanj? is this your father's music or your younger brother and sister's music? I'm 25 and I even feel too old to be listening to this mess.
