flynbird: Wednesday! Has anyone ever used money gram to pay for Sevis feeI see you've answered. Good. You have exactly 3 working days. Just enough time to print out your receipt if payment is successful. I hope it is sha. Forget doing any other thing since you've mailed it to them and just hope for the best. Goodluck. |
vivysparkles: When is ur interview? How many days exactly have u got left?Flynbird, i hope you'll answer this question so solutions can be proposed. Anyway, since you have a history of not sharing info here (ur school name...even tho many who have splattered their school name and course all over the thread still got their visa..), I believe its a 50/50 chance you'll wish to answer this question. However, here are suggestions: If you have more than 3 working days left, i suggest you either ask your US contact to send use money order to try and pay the fee right away or head to that g.I.e.v.a TODAY to pay 42,500 so u can at least print out the receipt before your interview...worst thing that'll happen is that when you get to the embassy, you'll be told it hasnt reflected or somethin, then you'll be told to come back. I would have said you cancel this appointment, reschedule, and then seek for an emergency appointment but then, there are no dates available in Lagos presently which is a serious bummer as you need to get a date before u can ask for an emergency appt. |
Still no dates for Lagos??!! This is annoying o. Has anyone requested for & gotten an emergency appointment date without booking a normal date first? zynnnie: Ladies and gentlemen, my visa was just approved now in lagos. It was magical. Details in few mins,Congratulations!!! Same to FideliaJohn. All the best ![]() |
mekaboy: The reason you are hearing this now isOur oil earnings has also grown in almost geometric progression compared to the population. Check the oil prices per barrel in the international market as at 1993, 1998 and 2013. mekaboy: 2, Crime has increased, we spend more on securityWhat has this administration done to remotely improve security and reduce crime? By allocating 11 billion naira for equiptment for the entire police force expected to cover 160 million people while appropriating 17 billion for maintenance of the Presidential jets?? mekaboy: 3,Looting is at the advanced level tooI'm with you on this. Its al the more worrisome because nobody seems to be getting punished for it. What's the latest on Abdulrasheed maina and the pension thieves? What's the latest on the police pension scam? What's the atest on the subsidy fraud? How many notable corrupt figures have been sent to jail by the EFCC /ICPC in the last 3 years?? Should i continue? mekaboy: 4, Terrorism has grownOur defence budget last year (roughly 5 billion dollars) was a quarter of our entire budget and about 2 or 3 times the budget for education and over two times the budget for power. I'm still waiting to see how many state of the art equipment have been purchased. I'm still waiting to see if there is a difference in the military and armed forces of 2011 compared to now. How many massive recruitments have been conducted? In short, how has the money been spent? Tho i must salute the army's efforts in the north even if i would like for their excesses to be curbed. mekaboy: 5, Oil theft has increasedAre you surprised? When a half educated ex-millitant who should ordinarily spend some jail time for his atrocities was dressed in royal robes and given the multibillion naira contract to do what the Navy is supposed to be doing. SHould i mention the defence budget here again? mekaboy: Now Nigeria has always been broke, the reason you hear about it now is because there is alittle transparency in GEJ administration.Nahh mehn, Nigeria has not always been broke. like someone said, the difference between the previous governments and this one is that not only are the looters in the present government much more, but the looters then were stealing what we had, but now, under GEJ, they are borrowing to steal. So bro, we will be broke. mekaboy: The governor of central bank then under obj was soludo, and you don't advise obasanjo during his time, u rather do his command. So u never heard soludo say we borrow too much.Lets not even get started on Soludo. OBJ's borrowing spree wasnt up to this in 3 years bro. infact, i wont be surprised if GEJ has borrowed more now than OBJ's 8 years combined. mekaboy: The past presidents we're stealing but were had men, you don't open you mouth to challenge them, that is why u don't hear much.Oh, we heard much. I heard much. nigerians heard much. Dunno about you. mekaboy: Paying subsidy was never a problem in previous administrations, because all they would do is borrow more money and pay the subsidy to themselves and children. Now it is a problem. When something dramatically grows within a few months from 300billion to over 2 trillion, there is a very very big problem. mekaboy: The only reason why u hear all this about nigerias economy is because gej has given the finance minister and cbn governor free hand to work, unlike previous administrations.I cant argue about this. But i know the finance minister and the CBN Governor with all thier faults, will never endorse several of this administrator's spending spree. Okonjo complained about recurrent expenditure hitting 74 or was it 76%. She got confirmed as minister and the first budget she prepared had recurrent expenditureat 72%. i do not think she really had the "free hand" here bro. mekaboy: Pple will say that fuel was cheaper during yaradua and others. But it is clear to us today, how much Nigeria pays subsidy thieves to make it happen.
And have we stopped paying the subsidy thieves now? Are we not paying them more?Really? I dont think so. I just think info leaks now more than ever. Plus the world is now a global village. there's a limit to the things you can hide from the public. mekaboy: Abacha died long ago and we still recovering his loot, yet it looked like things were better then. Did anybody say a word when abacha stole all that money?I dont think you were in Nigeria during and after Abacha era. Ask those who were around. Thot you said earlier that we didnt used to hear much about the looting. how come you heard much about Abacha's? Stop contradicting yourself bro. taharqa2: All these your long grammar you are yanning here does not hide d fact that you are churning out complete NONSENSE. I mean NO SENSE at all.... NOI never said ANYTHING about d 'Economy been broke' Or even that d Govt doesn't have cash to run (only a COMPLETE DUNCE, like yourself obviously, wud think that with d money that Govt gets from d Oil and nonOil sources as well as nonGovernmental economic activities of private, d Govt talkless of d Economy could be 'broke', esp with d Country's GDP/Debt ratio bn less than 20%. It wud realli take a REAL DUNCE to bliv so!!). She is only talking about difficulties in d continued funding of sm aspects of d BUDGET cos of sm of the items d Legislators moved around early this year while they were passing d budget, which d President, NOI and sm others warned about. There is not a SINGLE Economic Parameter that suggests a 'Bloke' Economy. Not even one. In fact, most of d Parameters strongly suggests otherwise, that's why NONE of you can attempt to use any Economic parameter to make any of yr sillly argument. Hence d need at writing plenty grammar signifying NONSENSE... Now, Shove yr Sillly piece of Lame PROPAGANDA down yr azz where it belongsI have nothing to say to you man. We know who the masters of propaganda are. Your drivel above deserves no standard response from me. Good evening. |
What I find odd about this whole thing is the fact that some Niger Deltans still support GEJ. I swear, SS and SE should be the angriest set of people calling for GEJ's head. The rest of us in the country should be begging them to calm down!! See nonsense, this man has still been pumping oil from their land, used billions of naira to settle thugs rather than directly improve communities, yet he now has the guts to say the govt is broke! I CHALLENGE ANY PRO-GEJ (the intelligent liars like sincere9jerian and PointB, not the lousy dimwits like Chidinduwhatever) TO SHOW ME PICTURES OF ANY POVERTY STRICKEN OIL POLLUTED OIL PRODUCING NIGER DELTA COMMUNITY THAT HAS UNDERGONE REAL POSITIVE TRANSFORMATION SINCE GEJ GOT IN. By transformation, i mean TRANSFORMATION. It's been 3 years already, what has GEJ done to directly improve the lives of those in the SS & SE ![]() If you SS want the Presidency in 2015, no problem, but IN YOUR OWN INTEREST, please start backing somebody else now, before its too late. |
I was born when Babangida was president, & from then till now, all thru Sani Abacha, Abdulsalami & Obasanjo, despite their obvious looting, i have never heard as much ''the government is broke'' talk/rumor/fact as I have heard since Goodluck Jonathan came into power just over 3 years ago. In 2012, as a youth corper, our April salaries were not paid nationwide, (i received mine in May & some never received theirs), and rumors were abound that the FG was too broke to pay corpers that month. Of course, everybody pro-GEJ from the FG to their foot soldiers on Nairaland to the clueless supporters denied it. Now, Okonjo has confirmed it. My question is WHERE HAS THE MONEY GONE TO? We pump oil EVERYDAY thanks to the apparent ''peace'' (bought with billions of naira) in the niger delta, this same Okonjo Iweala told us recently that oil money now accounts for less than the usual percentage of our earnings meaning that apparently, more money from non-crude oil sources is now flowing in. Last year, Sanusi cried out that the goverment was borrowing too much money, GEJ just finished borrowing more last week. Where is our money? What about our other resources? - Why are we broke? - Is somebody looking the other way while several people are stealing the country blind? *subsidy fraud appears to be small time con compared to what seems to be going on in Abuja now* - Is somebody amassing as much wealth as he can for 2015 to buy elections, create chaos and attempt country division? - Is somebody's destiny really to bankrupt Nigeria? - Is somebody doing anything to drastically shed excess luggage and steer the country back on the righ path? Has Nigeria improved ![]() ![]() ??Is it not clear now that anybody, anybody who is campaigning for GEJ in 2015 either doesnt know what is going on (many nairalanders and off nairalanders), is being paid for it / deriving some huge benefit from the govt ...which may not be unconnected to our broke state... (the ''ex-millitants'', the greedy AGIPS, some nairalanders), or is just a sentimental tribal bigot (those things put us in this mess and will continue to immerse us deeper in it). Nigerians, wise up abeg. Sentiments aside, frankly speaking, fair assessment, Goodluck Jonathan is seriously a top contender for PRESIDING OVER the WORST GOVERNMENT in Nigeria's history. May this nonsense stop before or by 2015! ...if not for anything but for the sake of those several people who voted GEJ in 2015 hoping for change (stu.pidly as it turned out), yet whose lives have been made miserable since January 1 2012 when this government increased fuel price, made promises which it hasnt fulfilled till today, and yet budgeted 1billion naira for feeding themselves and 17 billion naira for maintaining their aircraft! |
Any dates for Lagos embassy Please update thread o! |
orgasticdance: Useful thread. My test comes up in just over week. So far i have been using Manhattan and a bit of princeton review and magoosh. I've done about 5 online mock tests from manhattan and one from power prep, my quant scores are quite where i want them to be but my verbal is still relatively low(150-155). I'm applying against spring or fall next year if i miss deadlines. Verbal is just making me depressed, i consider myself pretty well read yet those hard tedious reading comprehension passages just make a mockery of every effort ive made to be a well rounded reader. I'm pressed for time, but does anyone have any practical strategy to help me boost my reading comp techniques going into the exam next week?Do you have Grubers GRE? If not, send an empty message to selfstudy360@gmail.com. You'll get an instant reply containing GRE materials and Grubers is one of them. The Grubers is quite helpful for Verbal, especially the vocabulary aspect. Above all, keep studying examples and taking sample tests. I wish you all the best. Cheers. |
Ok let's get a few things straight, the total fleet size of the presidential fleet is 9 that includes the 3 helicopters. 2 Falcon 900s a G iv and GII were sold. Oh and just a side, the US air force one, (Boeing 757) costs about 180k per hour to operate, and that doesn't include the cost of the other planes(a passenger plane and a cargo plane) that fly with it on most trips.
When were they sold? Can you please tell us your source? The GEJ administration I know will scream to the high heavens if they do anything that could possibly save money (which hardly ever happens). Secondly, I really hope you are not comparing Nigeria and the US when it comes to having cash to run their aircraft. Since you know about the US, can you please tell us how old the Airforce One is? And can you tell us how many planes are in the fleet? Also, did America's budget for maintaining presidential aircraft surpass by almost 80%, the budget of the entire police force? Get yourself straight bro. |
solomon111: The national assembly should be the one to authorize the sale of those jets, and not the president. You are being clever by half. With all due respect (if any is needed at this point), the bolded is the most idiotic statement I've read today. As usual, the federal executive council meeting yesterday was devoted to the approval of contracts, the biggest of which was the purchase of three new jets for the Presidential Air Fleet. The planes, which include a Gulfstream G550 and two new Falcon 7X Aircraft, will cost the country $154.3 million or N23.2 billion.https://www.nairaland.com/495811/jonathan-buys-n23b-jets This was a few months after GEJ became President. Apparently, they have bought even more. |
solomon111: Most of those jets were not bought in jonathan's administration. They are here! making the usual excuse that our problems did not start under Jonathan. Did Joyce Banda buy the jet that she sold? Why didnt Jonathan sell the jets Obasanjo left? WHY DID HE BUY MORE? Oya answer. there you have the difference between a leader who comes in to solve problems and a leader who comes in to create more saying that afterall, he didnt start it! You see yourself now? |
Some people will later ask us what Goodluck jonathan's crimes are. This artice should jolt the senses of every right thinking Nigerian. These guys have zero concern for the people. He presided over grand larceny in the name of subsidy payout, then what happened, he increased fuel price. The subsidy thieves are still hobnobbing with him in Abuja today. Yet hungry Nigerians will echo the greed-induced sentiments of the grand beneficiaries of an incompetent and greedy leadership and still say they support Goodluck Jonathan because they don't want an aboki to get there. What logic! I still say that we never had it this bad under Sani Abacha and that is a fact. i may have been fairly young then, but I was not totally uninformed. PHCN for starters, was much better. profligacy in government was not to this extent. Frankly, i do not support a revolution per se due to its attendant negative consequences judging by the insensitive dolts at the top who wont hesitate to handle uprising the Ghadaffi or Omar Al-Bashir style, but the fact is THESE GUYS MUST GO either before or by 2015! Goodluck supporters (not the paid ones tho), you guys really need to stop giving a sh''it about this guy and his cohorts coz fact is he doesn't give a damn about you all! he doesnt care if you keep groaning in pains and go hungry while he rides in 10 JETS! TEN!!! Who does that ? |
idalex: your words are full of powerful encouragement even though it was'nt directly to me. But my observation is in ur last paragraph. pls can u shed more light on how some1 can achieve this "…you'll be on your way to the US to study with your parents paying nothing more than your flight ticket and some pocket money for you."Glad you found it encouraging. To make my last paragraph happen, here's what you have to do: 1) Finish undergrad with a good CGPA (high 2:2 - 2:1 and above) tho the definition of ''good'' differs from university to university. 2) Study for and write the GRE, and get a very good score. 3) Apply EARLY to universities in the US (make sure you've done ur research in selecting what universities to apply to. You must be certain that they give Masters students graduate assistantships and also that your CGPA and GRE score matches their definition of ''good'' ). While applying, check if a seperate application is needed or not for a Graduate Assistantship position. 4) Pray! 5) Mail the department and maybe some professors and request that they should kindly consider you for any graduate assistantship positions. 6) Pray again! Usually, you'll be notified first about your admission, and when that comes, mail the department again expressing your joy at being admitted but renewing your request to be considered for a Graduate Assistantship position. If you are lucky enough to get it eventually, which usually (not always tho) comes with a full or partial tuition waiver plus a monthly stipend for living expenses, then last paragraph will surely apply to you Cheers. |
fadex56: Helo ause, my i-20 is on it way and my school resume aug 19th and i need to book appointment asap but i dont have more than 40k with me. So, is it possible to pay d sevis fee inorder to book appointment and later pay d visa fee before appearing at d embassy. HELP PLS.......It is the Visa fee (N26,400 at GTB) you need to book an appointment (of which dates are not available now....emergency appointment might be ur option even tho u still have to book a date first). Just make sure you pay the SEVIS fee at least 8 days before your interview so its advisable you pay it before booking an emergency appointment as you don't know how close the date you'll be given will be. |
yomifowe: Very inspiring write up. I must say that you are indeed a blessing to this thread, and although you were not referring to me, your words of encouragement are soothing. May the Lord God bless you real good. Because of your kind words, God wld grant your heart desires and you ll clinch your visa. Amen.AAMEN! Thank you very much bro. May God grant your heart's desires too. |
oyetpel: Had my 7:30 interview in lag 2day. No175Dude, sorry about your denial. I really feel for you. But you were warned about this school. It almost always guarantees a denial. Plus I hope the answers you typed here were not your exact responses coz these are way too short and unconvincing for even the most lenient VO to grant you a visa. Now, even if the VO was new and had no idea about VIU, the second bolded (that you are in school here) would have likely also fetched you a denial. I still suspect till today that this was the major reason I was denied in January 2009 (not the nonsense they ticked on that white paper) coz i did the SAT, had a pretty good score (1920/2400), got into a very decent school, got some partial scholarship AND I WAS DENIED. I did not re-apply. I shrugged my shoulders, forgot about all the painstaking efforts I put into the whole thing while combining school, continued with my undergrad, finished with a decent CGPA (very very few points short of a 2:1 tho), went for NYSC, studied for and wrote the GRE, got a pretty good score, got admission with a GA and partial tuition waiver and by God's grace i will be heading to the embassy very soon (havn't gotten a date yet) and I am confident that I WILL GET THE VISA by God's grace. Let me also tell you that by June/July that year, some serious things happened that I was (still am) very very very grateful to God that I was in Nigeria and not the US at that time. So it turned out that the denial was a blessing in disguise! When you commit your affairs to God at inception, even if things don't work out the way you'd wished at the end, do not be bothered coz its part of His plan for you and will ultimately be to your benefit as long as you trust in Him. I shared my story with you to encourage you based on your sad closing statements because to some extent as you can see, I've been in your shoes before. So, young man, work towards getting those grades up, make some good friends, start studying for the GRE before you go for NYSC, stay with this thread, stay informed, do all that is necessary and by God's grace, shortly after your NYSC, you'll be on your way to the US to study with your parents paying nothing more than your flight ticket and some pocket money for you. Cheer up, get up and conquer. It is well. |
GboyegaD: Done!!!Thanks bro! Told him. |
Ms Nas: okay. so i had my interview at the lagos embassy this morning (7:30am).Great! Pretty MsNas, Congratulations! Excellent reasons you gave there for choosing the school. All the best. Many more success stories to come by God's grace. Its's good to see we are having an almost 100percent success rate for those who have been following the thread since Part 2 /Part 3. BigFrancis, Flynbird and the rest, including me, our day of joy is coming very soon by God's grace. Thread newbies, in your own interest, please follow this thread and LEARN, we'll all smile after facing the VO by God's grace. |
GboyegaD: An alumnus of UNT here. Go Mean GreenNice one! Thanks bro. I suspected it was you or OjaP who is an alumnus ![]() Can you please send me your email or send a mail to ocharlestkb (at) yahoo (dot) com . That's my friend's email. He'll contact you asap. @house, some of you looking for schools & some form of scholarship no matter how little might find this link useful. https://www.educationusa.info/financial-aid.php |
So I had to cancel my August 15th appointment in order to reschedule for the August 7th which was available only to find 'no dates available'. Was goin to cancel the 15th and go for emergency appt anyway, but guys, please keep updating thread when dates are available. Thanks. Then, a close friend just got his visa and will be heading to Uni of North Texas Denton for masters. Any current students or alumni in d house? so I can hook them up as he needs some urgent advice especially as regards accomodation. I know there's one, not sure of the username. Thanks guys. |
How much is the landing cost of the saloon to Nigeria plus clearing? |
sholay2011: Hello. I would be writing my GRE next month. I studied Agricultural Economics in school and would like to continue on this path for Masters or at worst, Economics. I have chosen Purdue University, Indiana. Hope say na corekt skul? Other nice suggestions of universities are welcome pleasePurdue is a very good school, very well ranked as well....especially its engineering programs i hear, but they are ''tight- fisted''. Lol. They give Graduate Assistantship + tuition waivers to few MS students, though if your undergrad cgpa is high, and you do very well on the GRE, you could try applying for a PhD directly if you are interested and thus stand a very very good chance of getting funding. Go to the school's website, check available programs, get details on application deadlines and requirements, and go on from there. And of course if you have the money to pay for masters in case you dont get funding, by all means, carry on ![]() As for other schools, there are several schools to choose from. Many. But hope you r preparing to write the GRE coz that's the koko. Check out Illinois State University. |
even a 2010 Toyota Camry wont sell for 2.950. Interesting to know that you just registered today. |
Ok now I just wanna know how long it takes to study mediine in the US. I read premed takes 4-5years and medical school takes 4-6years. They weren't specific but i just wanna know if it can be studied at most within 8years ?
Ideally, it is 3-4yrs pre-med/any degree in the natural /life sciences, then you write the MCAT (like the SAT/GRE equivalent for medical school) and get into the medical school which is 4 years. But then some/many medical schools do not admit international students though i know a few people who went for their undergrad studies there and later got into med school. Dunno how they did it....tho i would love to find out. I know of one who did a combined MS/MD degree tho, i.e. she got a Masters in one health related course and later got into med school afterwards...dunno if she still wrote the MCAT. Oh, and studying medicine in the US is damn expensive...tho the paycheck even from your residency after med school makes the dollars spent in tuition worth it. |
FOR LAGOS, 15th of August was available about 10 minutes ago. I booked for 7:30am. If any one sees earlier dates for Lagos, please let us know as 15th is kinda late for me and I don't think i'm ready to explore the emergency appointment option yet. |
Royal Roy: I thought I was the only one who got pissed each time I see his adverts!!! ;''Vousvigin" Sharan Frbrk intiro, manuar ![]() reminds me of one dealer way back that advertised a Jeep Grand Cherokee that appeared to have been manufactured in Ibadan since the guy decided the name of the car he was advertising was "Gran Siroki" ![]() Pappysk bjmotors simplejohn is more annoying coz he never replies posts and takes poor pics of his cars even when the cars themselves are actually clean. So annoying! |
foohard: Hello house,http://www.chicagoweathercenter.com/ The temps quoted are in degrees fahrenheit. If necessary, use the converter on your phone to convert to degrees celsius if that would make you understand better as that's the scale we are used to here in Nigeria. Any dates available for Lagos? Please update thread o. Thanks. |
Ricky Rozay: Yes. Don't get confused. Thanks bro |
Ricky Rozay: Your Case is Simple bro.. This is what you are going to do..WOW! Thanks a lot Rozay. i was afraid I may not be able to change my school and SEVIS info on the Visa appointment website after booking an appointment. Thanks a lot. The application ID is what i wil enter in the space for DS160 Confirmation ID I believe? |
Guys, urgent help needed here please. Presently, i have two schools in which i've been admitted. School 1's i-20 is with me. School 2's i-20 has not arrived and apparently is still being processed. Some lack of communication between my department and the International Admissions office I fully intend to resume at school 2 coz it's much more highly ranked and I got some funding there as well. I have paid the visa fee yesterday. About to fill the DS160. My question is can i go ahead and book an appointment with School 1's I-20 and still go for my appointment with school 2's I-20 which will definitely arrive before my appointment date?? IS the DS160 form the only place where my SEVIS ID (which will of course be changed with new I-20) needs to be entered? Need to hear from you guys. Thanks house. |
He said western union service was down when he got there so they directed him to another bank which uses Money Gram.
