@peteregwu, I think you attach too much importance to this Christianity and that's why you think discussions about the existence of extra terrestrial life are an attack on christianity. There isn't even anything threatening to God about the existence of life elsewhere other than earth, since if such life exists, then he is the one who put it there. Attacking God by saying that he created more life than we know is not a very effective attack, don't you think? If anything, it gives him more souls to save. People talk about extra terrestrial life because such life is possible, not because of your christianity.

The bible permits the drinking of alcohol, within certain limits. Alcohol intoxicates, so the bible permits intoxication, within certain limits. Alcohol is also more destructive to the body and more likely to push you to violence than weed. In principle then, a christian can smoke weed, since he is permitted to indulge in the less innocuous alcohol. Kindly light up another blunt, if you are not in Nigeria where smoking weed is illegal.

Not really. Being skeptical means you tend to pay more attention to what you believe. You might still go ahead and believe it anyway. A skeptic can come up with his own explanation for why prophecies are possible, perhaps linking it to a universal consciousness which some people are able to access more than others.

However when two people are dating and are having sex nobody condemns it as sinful or wrong. If Christians could accept pre marital sex a norm why then frown at extra marital as if one is a lesser sin. Is going against a marital vow of chastity more important than breaking God's laws.

JEITO: Science would always look for an explanation for everything and the big bang theory is no diffferent.

the big bang theory starts with a claim that "a singularity" started everything which makes that singularity "the beginning" They claim they don't know what that singularity was or why and how it came into being. But am curious to know If you have any idea about what that singularity might be?

Also the theory talks about expansion rather than explosion. How did what is expanding comes into being and also I want to believe everything has got an elastic limit, does it mean we will get to a point where this earth will explode having exceeded its elastic limit?

Do you have a better theory? God is even more preposterous than the big bang. At least the big bang tries to give you an explanation. With God, you have no explanation but for whatever reason that doesn't seem preposterous to you.

If the first forms of life were simple and came out of inanimate objects (probabilistically impossible) then since the process is all materialistic, all it would take to create life is simply to recreate the very events of d big bang.
Simple. Yet science cant do it!

Give scientists, a can off oxygen,hydrogen, carbon dioxide etc.
High voltage , a furnace, lightening etc. Will they create an amoeba? No!
They'll never create d bases life form.

The big bang theory deals with how the universe got to its present state, not what caused the universe or how life came about.

The scientists haven't created life but its not safe to say that they never will. They are merely testing a hypothesis and they can replace this one with another if that other seems more viable. God is not proven by the failure of a hypothesis. What is your problem with humans creating life, anyway; does it make life any less sacred or does it make God any less powerful?

Drive slow. Never more then 60km/h on a single lane road.

On an expressway, you can try driving as far away from the median as possible. That way the lights from oncoming cars disturb you less.

Also you should try to watch the road as far ahead of you as possible so you'll know what to do with your steering when the lights are in your eyes.

You should be able to see any objects on the road, its only the boundaries of the road that become invisible with lights in your eyes. You can use the position of oncoming cars to have an idea of where the road is.

Adjust your head lamps so that they are pointing more at the ground than straight ahead. The road should become clearer.

You are allowed to use your full lamps from time to time.

I hope this helps you. It works for me, tho its better to avoid driving early in the night when the roads are busy.

You don't know that more angels haven't rebelled. The bible cannot report current events in heaven.

The bible may be categorically clear, but clarity is not truth. The bible is God's word, but God's word has been put to the test a few times. First, after creating man God saw that man was good but that "seeing" has been shown to be wrong. God then caused a great flood, killing every living man and hoping to repopulate the earth with better men but look at where we are now. On these two occasions, God's word is shown to be contravened. So if the bible says this cycle won't be repeated, expect some sort of deviation.

Sins may come from a need to fulfill a desire, but it is not every desire that can be fulfilled in a legitimate way. Eg, the desire to rebel against God. How do you legitimately fulfill that without sinning?

Perhaps sin comes from immaturity. Will everybody who makes it to heaven become mature by virtue of making it to heaven? You know both 3 year olds and 120 year olds might both make it to heaven and both age groups are not equally mature. How do the less mature cope?

1. Satan is reported to have rebelled in union with a huge number of angels. Around 1/3 of their number at the time.

2. There were the angels who came down to earth to take wives.

3. 2 Peter 2:4 speaks of angels who have sinned and are being held in the dungeon while they await judgment day. These are obviously not the ones in hell with Satan.

4. We have no reason to assume that nothing spectacular has happened in heaven since after the bible was written. In fact, it makes sense to say that more angels have joined and are joining Satan in hell as this would explain why he is prophesied to attempt another take over on the last day. Apparently he is gathering reinforcement for now.

Its funny how people think that they will somehow be different in heaven from what they are on earth without ever wondering why God didn't just put their better versions on earth instead.

Heaven is so overrated. People will still end up sinning in heaven, and wind up back in hell. If you cannot sin in heaven, you must have become the proverbial robot without a free will. If God increases your ability to resist temptation, that is cheating, since nothing stops him from doing that while you are on earth. Even angels, who are supposed to be morally superior to us, have sinned in heaven and wound up in hell. So, you have free will, the same resistance to temptation that you had on earth and eternity. It is simply a matter of time before you find yourself sinning in heaven, and all the time in the universe is yours. God is pulling a fast one on all of us and we all are going to hell eventually. Sorry.

Yes, You are right, our current rocket engines are far too inefficient for interstellar space travel.
By rocket engine, I guess i was just referring to a power source that did produce some kind of mist or whose thrust threw up a lot of hazy dust.

The Sumerians depicted their gods as having rocket-like vehicles called Din.Ger that took of from the ground and went up into the air.
They wrote in t heir texts that when the gods arrived on earth, Iraq to be specific, they named the place E.RIDU ( translated home away from home). It is from this very word ERIDU, transliterated many times over, that we get the word EARTH.

They also portrayed what looks like a Sattelite or orbiting spacecraft above the Earth which they called the IGI.GI.
One of their well know cities was called SIP.PAR( translated BirdCity) from where the DIN.GER took off and landed.

The Hindu Vedas also contain tons of tales of ET gods flying through the air and even shooting weapons from crafts they called VIMANAs.

I do think from the written ancient materials that the ET gods were more interested in imparting scientific knowledge to stone age humans than religious philosophy. However, what we see is that humans were so overwhelmed and even terrified with the technological marvels of these Visitors that they chose to worship them as gods, and treat the scientific knowledge as spiritual magic, rather than as scientific feats.

This explains why the scientific knowledge was hoarded and protected as very sacred spiritual gift, only to be imparted to very few worthy disciples of the religious cults that formed around the ET phenomena.

For example, it is thought that the ancient Egyptian knew the phenomenom of electricity, but they could not envisage it's great utility as a power source, so they hoarded the knowledge as sacred until it died with the priests.

My dear friend, you would be surprised to know that nearly all of Earth's religion were founded and constructed on the aftermaths of Alien encounters.
Example, from a modern mind's perspective, what does the term " fallen Angel's " connote?
How about " boat of heaven" or Chariots of fire in the sky, or " pillars of smoke by day and pillars of fire by night ( does a rocketship come to mind) ?

The bible says that " the Kabod (mistranslated as the glory of the lord) of the lord descended on the mountain " with billows of smoke, and that the earth quaked.
Now, just imagine the gradual descent of rocketship with smokes coming out of the exhaust and the noise of a rocket engine.

There is no doubt in my mind that the ancients wqere simply chronicling their encounters with technologically advanced Extra-terrestial beings.
There were many of them , and many encounters: Encounters that formed the basis of the worship of the different gods of ancient Egypt, Canaan and Babylon.

There is also no doubts that a modern ET disclosure of contact would collapse the current religions, and maybe form new ones.
That would depend on how the ETs view us and our progress over the past 4000yrs.

From the little I know about space travel, I don't know if you can conclude that those bible verses were referring to space travel.

Any aliens that were able to reach earth must be much more technologically advanced than we currently are. We are at the stage of rocket engines for space exploration and we know that these engines don't get you anywhere in terms of stellar distances. They are too slow to get anywhere significant without the people on the space craft dying of old age first.

Do you think it is plausible that aliens were able to reach the earth from where ever with mere rocket engines?

Also, these aliens must equally have something to say about the origin of existence. They may also be religious, or not. In visiting earth, unless they were unable to interact with humans, they should have communicated their own ideas about existence/God to us. If you say nearly all of earth's religion was founded on alien visitation, could it be that the aliens were also religious, or that they did not communicate their ideas to humans, thereby causing humans to view them as gods?

That there was no single picture of it half human and half bird implies it must have happened so fast for anyone to take pictures.

If it happend so fast, it's therefore highly unlikely anyone would have noticed it for the single reason that, that person must have been paying rapt attention to birds flying in the sky prior to the incidence. So also, he/she must have paid undivided attention to the particular one that turned to the woman.

Why would an adult suddenly decide to watch birds fly in the sky when it wasn't that he/she knew before hand something was about happening.
