peacesamuel94:You raised complexity, not me. You said the universe is too complex to exist by itself. My argument is that God is even more complex than the universe and therefore a universe with God is a bigger complexity than one without God. If complexity alone is what stops things from existing by their own power, and a universe is too complex to exist by its own power, then a universe with God being so much more complex than one without God is also too complex to exist on its own. That's the implication of the complexity you raised. The complexity is for you, not me. |

An eternal God + temporal universe is still more complex than an eternal universe alone. |
peacesamuel94:I think God is part of the universe. But even if it isn't, the universe + God is definitely more complex than just the universe alone, since apparently complex things must not come from simpler things. So I guess it's really nice that you believe so easily that something as complex as the universe + God came to be all by itself. Lol. You have digressed from your OP now tho. The earth alone debunks this, 4.5 billion+ years of existence is enough for the rules to change if it wanted to.If it wanted to change within such a time frame, you mean. My point is that in this your hypothetical universe where no rule is consistent you cannot predict the time frame within which the rules change since such a prediction requires some degree of consistency which the universe lacks. The rules can therefore take forever to change if that is what they want. I'm not saying we live in such a universe though. |
peacesamuel94:Accidents do not happen systematically? That's meaningless bro. An accident is merely something unplanned, a chance occurence. An example of one is an unplanned pregnancy due to failure of contraception. Such a pregnancy will proceed like every other pregnancy, despite being an accident. The laws of physics do not breakdown for it or for any other accident. The universe being an accident simply means that it is unplanned and nothing more. I don't think the rules that the universe obeys are a matter of logic. I believe the universe is free to obey any type of physical law, including one which forbids consistency. It's hard to imagine what such a universe will look like but I can't preclude the possibility. Like I said earlier, it is irrelevant that such a universe is uncaused. In any event, you just might be living in such an inconsistent universe. The rules could change anyday, for all we know. |

Yes. |
peacesamuel94:Coincidence with what? |
I think the physical laws are descriptions of the structure and behaviour of the universe. For this reason I've always had difficulty understanding your question. It is the same as asking why a given existing universe has a structure. What do you expect it to have?! With or without God, any existing universe must behave in a describable way. The descriptions of how it behaves are what we call physical laws. To get a better idea of what I'm saying, try to imagine a universe with no describable structure or behaviour. Indescribable, right? How can such a universe possibly exist and what could be keeping it in existence? Let me mention that I see a distinction between a chaotic or disorderly universe which is simply one where making predictions about its behaviour is extremely difficult or even impossible and a universe without any laws which completely lacks any behaviour or structure. Sometimes people mean to refer to a chaotic universe when they talk about a universe without laws. So to answer your question as much as is possible, I don't think there is any such thing as a universe without laws, whether caused or uncaused. A universe must have laws. |
Her request is not reasonable at all. Technology has taken over those jobs as it always does and people need to face reality. Business is about providing value for money. If it weren't none of us would ever buy a foreign made good when there is a Nigerian alternative, since patronizing Nigerian business is the charitable thing to do. |
I get like 2 days max o. More likely 1 day. Daily commute is about 45kms avg speed 30km/h with 2.4l 4cyl auto. |

daremiarchs:Maybe you didn't do PR before breaking the news to her. Most theists consider atheism to be a form a devil worship so she might now be contemplating whether you glorify the devil. You should try to show her that not believing in God means also not believing in the devil, and it does not equate to being a hardened psychopathic criminal whose sole aim in life is material gratification. Give her examples of men who have a lot of money and like to donate to charity who do not profess any belief in God so that she can look at them and realise that she has been picturing godlessness wrong. The fact of their godless philanthropy might help to dissolve her prejudices. If your life has been stellar, character wise, you can use it as an example too. She might decide that you're okay, after all. Or just count your losses...start over with an ungodly female. You can find a few on nairaland. Your lack of faith might not seem like much to you but to most christians and muslims, especially the devout ones, it's major and likely to cause chronic problems in the relationship which no upright citizen of Nigeria needs in their life. |
JackBizzle:I swear I always wonder how superstitious people manage to function. Things in their world are much less certain, since there are always spirits hiding behind everything and nothing is what it seems. You don't know if you mother is not the spirit of your great uncle who has set out to destroy your life by planting a scorpion in a warm damp dark corner of your house which is where you might expect to find a scorpion so even though its appearance there seems innocuous it actually isn't. If I had such beliefs I for don mad tey tey or just straight up die of fear. |
Even with all the power upgrades it's 0 - 60 time is 0.1s faster than the 2006 Honda Accord V6 Manual. At least it's luxurious! |
konjinokillme:Where do you imagine you can be safe? The beauty of witchcraft is that it can get you anywhere, village or not. Just live your life and hope for the best as we prepare to visit you. |
Are there male mamiwater? Was Jesus male? |
mastro:Chief Chief |
The headline should be "Persons in wilful disobedience of biblical injunction to lead Baptist church", but that won't cater to the particular prejudice of most readers. |
Make them just change the tyre quietly na. What's with the competition? |
So that's how those Chibok girls ceased to be raped immediately after their abductors wedded them. |
mokset123:Lol. No vex bros. I'm dreaming of cars with cutting edge tech, plenty hp and nice handling. Like a Tesla or Bimmer, eg. I've watched too much Top Gear. |
EgunMogaji:What tune is that? |
I learnt how to drive in 2005, at driving school, after frequently taking my mother's car and introducing it to a few obstacles. Serious Accidents: None at speed (like > 80km/h). I've had to replace headlamps/panelbeat bonnet/respray maybe 5 times in my life. Mostly bike men, poor guys. Once a bus' brakes failed and it ran into me. Wrecked the boot and cost like 40k to fix it (Peugeot 406). NDE: I was really moving one day, trying to get to the airport on time, and one little girl came out of nowhere into the road. I was able to avoid her by going off road at that speed (around 140km/h) and back onto the road. The car fishtailed immediately it hit the road but that was it. I don manage drive: Audi 80 V Boot (1st car, inheritance. lol) Peugeot 406 Peugeot 307 Peugeot 206 Sienna Discussion Continues (current car) Highlander Matrix Camry C230 Corolla 12 uninteresting cars. |
palsenator:What are all these many things you're talking about? People, out of their freewill, looked Jesus in the eye and lynched him. That's all. |
Lol. But even Jesus' face in the flesh was not enough to stop people from lynching him! What gives? |
GrizzlyBear:I think your position will be more workable if you advocate suicide. That way anyone who doesn't want any more of this can make their grand exit their own terms. I think one grim reality you should face is that, however absurd it may seem to you, a lot of people strongly believe that life is worth living and as a result they must make the selfish choice to procreate, on the premise that life will be as good to the children as it has been to them. With the option of suicide, procreation can be viewed as providing the opportunity of experiencing life to some one on the understanding that they are at total liberty to cast it away if it's not entirely to their liking. This has the added advantage of addressing the concerns of people on both sides of the divide; those who will see no point in their having been born and those who will see a point or two in it. The solution you're proposing in your OP unduly favours people like you who see no point in being alive. |

The driving comfort of an auto is far too superior to that of a manual for me to want to purchase a manual for daily driving. |
You can watch porn without sinning if you don't get turned on. If you get turned on by a porn video which doesn't feature your spouse you have committed adultery. It is adulterous to be turned on by any one other than your God given spouse. Next week I give my treatise on whether a threeway with your wives is permitted in Islam. Stay tuned. |
