Guys , I see alot of people appreciating the commander of NSCDC. I thought we are educated? It's because we the masses accept these kinds of practices that is why they exist. Pls how do you expect a woman to work in an environment where she lost her husband. Does she even have flair for that kind of job? Around the globe, there is a life insurance policy or permanent disability insurance policy put in place for law enforcement officers. If they had something like that there will not be need for these kinds of pity party kind of job. So if the commander didn't do it, what will then happen to the widow. Nigerians let us demand for the right things from our leaders so that everyone will enjoy.

The FG has bought innosons products that that's all he asked for. Not everything is a government agency. After all of the times the government has failed Nigerians, we still want them involved everything from groundnut selling to tooth pick manufacturing

He doesn't mean that FG to invest physical cash. Investment can be in the form of asking all federal Parastatals to have only innoson cars. Just the same way dangote was helped to secure world bank or international funding, govt can also help innoson.

My people of obodo Nigeria, when will you grow and have sense? The only time our leaders talk about international best practices is when they want to share political positions. But to learn how other countries solve problems, they will never learn. The idea of arresting people for wrong ways of waste disposal is totally unproductive. Let me suggest what i think will work.
1. Create a waste management system that is based on council areas (since its state govt that appoints councillors and local government chairman instead of election)
2 . Make landlords/house owner responsible for waste disposal in their properties (just like in America). the landlord is responsible when there is fines and fees regarding wrong waste disposal.
3. Levy should be paid every month by the landlord, failure to pay will attract late payment fees, refusal to pay will lead to being served with court notice.

The school system generally in Nigeria is not working. The reason being that its funded and ran by govt. I think there is need for govt to study the school administration system in America. The preschool, elementary, middle school and high school system. To start with one can not send his/her child to any school outside a certain area (zip code). These schools have a management board made up of only residents of the zip code and the position is openly contested for in an election. I think with this system people whose kids attends these school will make sure the schools allocation is well applied. So govt only sends funds for each school to the education board who will apply d funds even to salary of teachers. So if the school is not doing well, you will not look for govt rather you go the board who are also members of the local community where the school is located.

I laff at your contribution. Why didnt the police site the school in the north where there is no roja but cattle rustling, banditry, kidnapping, boko haram. Rather it is sited in Anambra state. Pls ask any police officer they prefer to work in south east because roja will flow. So now with the school of finance they are going scientific in roja collection.

This is a welcome development however there is also need for sanctions and fines for political parties that did not fulfill their promises and manifesto. Because this government has been lying without being punished but they want to punish people for lying.

Some times, feel that the evil unleashed by Nigerian leaders on the masses has gone soo far that their think has been negatively affected. Instead of d masses to support a customer who claims a wrong has been done to him by a bank, people are busy bashing him. Now think of it, if the bank treats a big client like innoson like this, how will they treat a small biz trying to survive. I have said it several times that the hostility of the Nigerian biz environment is far too much that if you dont cut corners, you cant survive.

Cant the road safety just make the vehicle registration in Nigeria simple? I america if police stops you they only ask for 3 items which are
1. Vehicle registration
2. Driver license
3. Insurance card.

Instead of carrying plenty papers and all what not.

I sympathize with him at this trying times. But please this goes to celebrities, you can sign up for health insurance with any of the health management organizations (HMO) in the country. This enables you to get treatment to the extent that your subscription covers in times of need. The idea of seeking public contribution when sick for people who could afford the insurance is not good. Pls I encourage everyone to get health insurance to avoid looking on to others for help in times of sickness.

Each time I hear statements like this I just wonder what these called politicians have inside their head. Take innoson motors for instance. Government that cares can do alot with that company. Why not empower the company just the same way dangote was empowered. How do I mean. Start by saying all govt cars should be only locally manufactured cars. Then encourage innoson to set up factories in other geopolitical zones to be able to meet up with demands. Also there will authorized mechanics on only those locally manufactured car in every local govt. If this is done. In another 10yrs Nigerians will not prefer imported cars anymore. I dont have time to share others thoughts.

The idea of fighting for a position based on which part of the country the person comes from goes to show we are not yet ready to move forward. I think we should be talking about competence, capacity, pedigree, experience, exposure and other qualities that will move the country forward. In my opinion let us encourage people like hashim, moghalu, sowore, fela to enter government.

Pls, Nigerian government should introduce the use of teasers by police officers so that they dont have result to use of guns in the face of provocations. If you politely request for an individual to follow u to the station and they refuse, then u can tease them and take them along.

This action is totally wrong. Same way it is wrong for members of house of assembly or Senate to suspend a member. If everyone is there to represent a community, then it is wrong to suspend any member. Even in a family setting, do you suspend any member that misbehaves? You caution and hope that the member changes. Nigerian governments only copy America when it suits them.

What if I told you guys that we could have MODERN AMBULANCES, ETC...like the ones we see aborad....IF WE PAID MORE TAXES.

Many Nigerians cry about how bad things are, and then port to countries like Canada, UK and US...where they pay municipal taxes as high as N30000 monthly or more....and in return, ambulance service is among the stuff provided.

Our health care budget was N800billion out of N8 trillion naira...that's 2billion USD. In the USA...the state of New Youk has a budget of $160BN USD.

And we expect miracles from our scanty budget of $22billionn naira.?

And corruption is eating our budget as well...meanwhile PDP and APC supporters are defending their corrupt politicans well well...


If you want nice stuff....PAY TAXES. If you want increased funding..PAY HIGHER TAXES. Our tax rate is 0-24% In developed countries it can be has high as 50% per annum.

This is my last comment on this matter tonight.

The truth is, we are a poor country. And the stealing is not corruption crew in both parties are making it worse. We have a budget of $22bn, while one state in the USA has a budget of $160bn and we are demanding a level of care similar to that state...and we have a much higher population to boot.

Either we work harder for our money....or we accept we are poor and live with it.

Either we stop tolerating corruption, because many of the Nairalanders here, prefer to defend corruption so long as it is their side...or it continues.

Lagos has the best emergency response in Nigeria...because Lagosians...the vast majority of whom are POOR pay higher taxes than the rest of the country.

We cannot pay N200 for a N200000000 service. The minute we wake up to that, as well as to the hard work we need to to as a democracy to hold all leaders to account the better.

One final thought....I think that it is high time we toned down the toxicity and tribalism on this site. Nairaland has become a venue for toxic tribal wars and hate. Hate has already nearly wrecked us as a nation. Let us not go that way again

Oga, I want to start by saying that I salute your write up that is devoid of insults. For your information, the provision of ambulance services in America is not about tax payment. If you have any reason to use the ambulance, it's the individual that pays for it. Pls let me ask, do you need higher taxes as a government to provide emergency services in an airport that is own and managed by same government? The incident goes to show how we as a people lack the ability to plan. How many Nigerians have insurance on their properties and belongings? The answer is less than 1%. That is why at every life unplanned event we start calling on government. Peoples house go up in flames in America every day but they dont call on government, rather they run to their insurance companies. They only call on government when it's a natural disaster. My humble submission is to for us to put elected officials under scrutiny so as to force them to apply the available resources to good of all.

The issue is not a rocket science to handle. What happened to them when Buhari visited Lagos for campaign? OSIBANJO is in charge of ease of doing biz committee, what happened to apapa wharf? Its not only about getting business registered in 24hrs, technology can drive the process. I thought the president will be bullish in arresting these ugly situation as he has no political future after serving 2 terms.

It is very funny how we as a nation under APC have become a country of winner takes it all. Meanwhile when it comes to university admission you categorize some states as low educated as such require low jamb score to gain admission with a view to helping people from that region or state to get education. But Nigerians from some states will require a higher score to gain admission in the same school.

In an election with many candidates, is possible for everyone to vote one candidate? So Apc should watch carefully not to entrench a culture that will keep us from moving with the world. What Nigeria needs now is people with the best quality and not about which part of the country they come from.

I laugh in swahili. How can there be maintenance culture, when construction contracts are awarded in government houses to portfolio carrying politician contractors. Its is absolutely wrong. Each state can create 5000 additional jobs by ensuring that each ministry and department of government works. Someone will ask me how are they going to be paid, local authorities will collect levies, fees, fines etc. If all traffic offenders within a particular locality are fined, it will be enough to pay workers.

These are the problems we are facing as a nation where people believe that the monthly allocation to states is for personal consumption. What is the need for a state. Instead they should be talking about creation and autonomy of local government. Such that every local government can determine how they want to be governed.
