Many times when walking down the street you may have been accosted by people from various Christian Churches of different denominations speaking to you about God's love with a popular phrase "God loves you", in retrospect and putting all emotional sentiments aside the "God's love" spoken about is somewhat ironical to the definition of love.
A very acceptable definition of someone you love is someone whom you wouldn't want to be hurt or hurt so why does god have a hell fire??

If it was because of this she left her husband, it would have made sense.

But she only did, after her divorce and also lost her job at the church. So it's more like it was a decision she made out of frustration and also joblessness.
