I'll make this very brief as possible


Before she became pregnant, we've been close and at some point I liked her which she was aware of but didn't give the green light because of her guy then and of course I didn't mind much...so we continued our friendship

Fast forward to the aftermath of the pregnancy and birth of the child. The parents refused to give their consent to the guy wedding Sharon saying he's not God's will for her. The catch is, she was incommunicado for a long while following the trauma in the pregnancy and her parent's decision. I tried reaching out to her to know how's she doing as every normal friend would do.
One thing led to another and we became close, now she talks of how much she likes me and why it took her so long to noticed it. Infact she was saying I'm the only one she could get married to and all that ...

Well, I told her to hold on till I've heard from God and I've prayed about it but nothing yet...I really doubt what she feels for me and I think she's using me as an escape route since no guy will accept her again with a child

Having lived all my young to mid adult life in Lagos and then being transferred by my firm to it's Anambra branch , I have now lived here for over two years... These are the differences in life style I noticed

1. Business are late to open in the morning in Anambra compared to Lagos

2. There very few or non existent road side mechanics, most mechanics are in a street inside a compound and fenced unlike Lagos

3. There is still high sense of morality and believe in God in this part of Nigeria by majority of of the people bar the student areas where culturi and believes are imported from various part of Nigeria unlike Lagos

4. There is low level of northern population throughout the state unlike Lagos

5. Most nysc corpers are southwestern and igbos

6. Inside the public transport a new entrant greets the old sittight ones... Unlike Lagos

7. In Anambra, keke driver or bike rider would give u the money to go look for change in cases of no change btw him and customer while he waits for ur return , reverse is the case in Lagos

8. In Anambra , both driver and persongers will reject money to the floor in cases of incorrect disputed price of fare... All allowing ur conscience judge u... In Lagos it results to fight...

9. In Anambra, house rents are very high just like Lagos.. but transport is cheap

10. In Anambra there is a few major fuel marketers mostly filled with unknown names

11. U hardly see anyone criticize a preist of a catholic or Anglican church...

How do these guys come up with these figures is what I'm yet to come to terms with. They just sit in a beer parlor and start assuming and falsifying figures.
It's well with every fake statistician.

I have heard Nigerians use "bride Price" and "Dowry" interchangeably and they seem to think they are the same. People just assume the bride price is the dowry or that they mean the same thing but this is a wrong assumption.

I knew this in Social Studies when I was in Primary 5 and it shocks me when people who I think went to school around the same time (not the current era where I don't understand the curriculum) make the same mistake. Perhaps people just think because they are both possessions and gifts exchanged around the time of a wedding they mean the same but nah. They are very distinct things.

So here is the major difference



From the definition above

1. Bride Price is given to the family of the bride by the groom and/or his family and this is mostly set by the Bride's Family.

2. Dowry is the property or money given to the bride by her family when she marries and she takes these things to her marital home.

In some cultures, Dowries cannot be sold by the couple as it is wealth that passes through only the female line so only the bride's daughter can inherit them. Thats why you see where some families have jewelry that their great grandmother used and a female descendant still wears it. It can even be shares of a company etc.

There has been cases in India and Northern Nigeria called "Dowry theft" in these cases, they grooms family (mostly committed by the groom's family) tries to convert the properties of the bride and steal them. I know India had to pass legislation against it. Sometimes, the husband himself tries to steal these possessions.

Note also that in a divorce, the husband cannot lay claim to the dowry as these are personal gifts and are mostly acquired before marriage so are outside the purview of shared items.

In Nigeria, dowries can include, Kitchenware, livestock, land, jewelry and in some parts of the north, the father actually buys furniture.

Note that Dowry is not wedding gifts given to the couple. These are gifts for the two of them.

How old are you again? Maybe this is part of you growing but I refuse to hear a single-sided story. E get why. From time, we know that only a foolish elder hears one side and judges. Your story has looss ends. You are in the hospital for what? Were you sick, did you have an accident or was it due to the infection? Where is she now? Isn't your life more important to you than danger? What did the doctors say about your infection or are you just suspecting her without evidence? Can you marry another woman? Why is your mom so involved in your family/love life? You sound like you take orders and this is someone who has seen your weakness. You are not your own man.

I only see women here. Your mom and the lady. Be a man and take charge of your house. Men fix the house, they don't advertise the problems of the house. You decide how you want to see your house ran. Women like men who remind them of their fathers? You know why? They love security, structure and order so you need to tell yourself what you want to see in the mother of your children and Prime Minister of your house.

My secondary school mate got married to his secondary school girlfriend and they were classmates.
They both proceeded to the same University and got married after NYSC .
It's quite rare for such occurrence but it does happen.
I think this is a definition of real ❤️ love.
