I'm highly disappointed in Mali. I mean it's obvious now that Tunisia is terrible, but I can't understand how Mali is somehow worse. |

DR Congo fit send military enter Nigeria 😂 Na the biggest insult be that. Country wey never see World Cup since the 70s, then you come destroy them from all angles like this after their first ray of hope in 50 years? They will never forgive us. E go be times ten of wetin Uruguay do Ghana. |

mekabuachi: With the recent controversies surrounding north Africans and referees... It's quite normal to suspect foul play with both VAR abd referee all being Egyptians😑
I'd come back to this comment Sha when Algeria gets a dubious penalty, or Dr Congo's goal get cancelled unjustly Part of me actually thinks it may be the other way round. From my viewing experience, I don't think there's any rivalry in Africa as toxic and vitriolic as Egypt vs Algeria. So it will be interesting to see how the Egyptian referee prosecutes this game. If there's bias involved, it could swing either way, not just Algeria alone. |

Odunayaw: This settles it that Chelle is an attacking coach. I really hope the man stays post AFCON We need to pray he at least makes the finals because the NFF in all their incompetence and incorrigibility are too thick to note all these progressive milestones. They will sack him regardless if he doesn't get to the finals. |

WarHammer2000: Talking about branding, Osimhen needs to find a signature goal celebration. A celebration you see and immediately think of Osimhen. Think Ronaldo and his siuuuu. Martins and his summersaults.
Look at Ndidi's celebration. That's a clip that would be replayed for decades to come and has already made it's way into the books of naija football folklore — that's the power of branding.
Mention "Rashidi Yekini", and I bet the first image that comes to your head is Yekini clutching the net, celebrating his iconic World Cup goal. Branding.
Osimhen's current celebration which typically involves pointing at his teammates (or sometimes, the opponents' coach😁) or just jumping and punching the air, isn't remarkable at all. I no go lie, e dey vex me sometimes 🙄.
I mean, it's nice you scored, but how about hitting a unique celebration that thrills the fans and further builds your cult of personality? I swear. Like the gun celebration that Mali did when they scored against Morocco, or the one Zimbabwe did against South Africa. Something unique and memorable. |

Amedino99: we lost to a covid ravaged tunisia team. If we lose to Mozambique it's because the players or the coach (or both) flopped, not because of what happened in 2021. Statistics and history is good for reference but their predictive abilities are limited. There's always a first time for everything. This might very well be the first AFCON where we win every single game to lift the trophy. Algeria did it in 2019. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by FiveFootNinja(m): 11:53am On Jan 02 |
Amedino99: the last time this happened. Omo make i think positive things abeg There's no way in hell Mozambique is stopping us sha. I don't care what they did in the group stages. We've arguably looked better than both Cameroon and Ivory Coast in different moments and those teams still squeezed a result out of Mozambique. I can almost bet my life on it that we will breeze through that fixture. It's from the quarter finals that we should start getting worried to me. Both Algeria and DR Congo are stronger than all the opponents we've faced so far, Tunisia arguably included. We can exit from there if we're not careful. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by FiveFootNinja(m): 10:10pm On Jan 01 |
Amedino99: real madrid for where. Real madrid has way more wins than losses in final. Real madrid always unfailingly qualifies to the UCL every season no matter the form they are in. We have already missed 2 consecutive afcons and 2 consecutive world cup in the last 15 years. We also posses more silver medal and bronze than Gold. Please find another club to use as comparison I personally think Arsenal is a better fit. We don't always win titles, but we're consistently in the top 3 or 5. Can't remember when last Arsenal fell below 5th in the EPL. |

To the best of my knowledge, Eric Chelle has had closed door training with the Super Eagles squad only twice since he became head coach: one against Benin in the final WC qualifying game and the other against Tunisia just last week. We know how those games ended.
Eric Chelle is a masterchef. Hopefully he continues to deliver.

yinkeys: They beat us at Uyo in 2017 We couldn’t beat them at Uyo in 2024 & Bloemfontein in 2025 90 minutes struggle I just explained why we couldn't beat them. Plus you're looking at it only from your own side. They failed to beat us too with all their gra gra and organization, despite our terrible form. I didn't watch the 2017 one. Was that a qualifier or a friendly? Who started that game? |

yinkeys: Ivory Coast will win against South Africa Don’t know why we struggle with South Africa Actually we don't struggle with them. We just happen to run into them at the worst moments. In the last AFCON, signs of fatigue were already showing in the team, and yet we braved it through extra time and still beat them on penalties. And that last AFCON Bafana team was arguably better than the squad they have now. In the qualifiers, well... you and I are aware of the tomfoolery going on with NFF at the time. Plus Eric Chelle just arrived in the squad by the time the second fixture came around. He barely knew enough of our players to build a proper system like he has now. If we meet South Africa today, that's the one game I'm confident we go load them like 5 before they inevitably reply, cos I know in true Chelle fashion, we fit concede one. 😂 |

Egypt team B couldn't register a single goal against Angola.
Ivory Coast team B is currently losing to Gabon unless something happens in the last 30 mins.
Nigeria team B bullied and dispatched a hungry Uganda side seeking qualification without breaking a sweat.
Team B get grade. 😎 |

TheSuperNerd: Algeria vs DR Congo Round of 16 is one I will so much enjoy. Whichever contender dies in that battle pleases me. But if, and only if, we get past our Rof16 opponent, we face the winner of that titanic clash. The Super Eagles should motivate themselves with the knowledge that we have scores to settle with those two teams Algeria for AFCON 2019 DR Congo for last month's WC playoffs. |
