AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by fnk: 4:58pm On Apr 20, 2012
@willlexxx, yes you can send me your email. It will be 3 docs one is couple of them are in excel form so you can manipulate the numbers to fit the # of birds you want to raise and also the prices of some of the things you will need as I am sure them must have changed. The third doc is a compilation of my result. Remember, on this tread I have read from those who you can call guru in this industry, What I am sending you is my research and the result, it is not intended to be portrayed as the standard for poultry farming. Non the less, it was a well done job, because I personally managed it. Good luck.
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by fnk: 1:10pm On Apr 20, 2012
@bb life, The thing is that I used the solution in a small scale and it worked, I need to use it on a larger scale befor I can get the info out. Have you started your poultry yet? If not, give me your email and I will forward the project that I put together, based on the cost that I got last year.
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by fnk: 7:16pm On Apr 18, 2012
@ Bb life, When I lived in South America, my we had a poultry there, and last year in Nigeria a friend wanted to go into the business with me, before we can move on I decided to do a research in Nigeria to see it's viability, I lived in VGC then, so I made a coop that can hold up to 50 birds, I got 10 layers and 25 broilers. And I documented everything that I was doing everyday. I bought the feed and the day old from old Agege motor road. And watched and documented my findings. I moved my family back to the U.S and I am currently in the U.S but hoping to come back to Nigeria and then go into poultry since my research was positive. So I don't have any farm you can visit, after my project, I gave away the bird to people to get their reaction as to the size and taste of the meat. And everyone something positive to say. At 18 weeks, the layers started laying, the eegs were small at first but started getting big a few weeks later. I killed some and gave away the rest because I was moving back to the U.S. Now the big deal here in my case is the discovery of a solution that keeps them healthy, grows well, and taste great because there were no any use of chemically treated water or medications for the birds. So with my solution, I don't have to worry about bird flu and mortality issues faced by poultry farmers. This is my competitive advantage when I eventually get into the industry. Now if I had bought more bird looking at economic escale the cost could be lower. My total estimated cost to raise a bird from day old to 2.5kg in 7 weeks was N563.60. this includes everything, feeding, lighting, management, the cost of the day old chick, etc. and on this tread someone explained that depending on who is buying from you, you can sell the birds for between N650 to N850/kg which is not bad.

So, you can play with some of this numbers and some other numbers that have been stated in this tread. Good luck
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by fnk: 3:27pm On Apr 18, 2012
Take time and go through the tread again, someone have already given that breakdown. From my research the breakdown that I used to feed my birds from day old to get them to between 2.5kg to some of them at 3.5kg within 7-8 weeks was N313.60/bird. with this info, you can multiply it by the number of birds you want to raise. The advantage though that I had was that I discovered a solution that I call Virushiled. that was what I used in place of any medication. At day old, I put a few drops in their mouth, and I repeat that again two more time within their first week. And I have a mixture of the solution in the water they drink through out the 7 weeks.
My result was that I had zero mortality, the birds grow fast because there wasn't any bacteria, or any virus in their system to stall their grow and course them to eat more. No any chemical in their system through the water they drink that can also have adverse effect on their growth and development. No medication or hormone that can affect the taste of the bird. What I had at the end of 7 weeks was some of the birds weighing about 3kg and 3.5kg, taste like free range birds and no fat. The bone of the birds were a lot stronger than the typical poultry bird. I give one to a franchisee of Mr. Bigs, she ate it call call me back and said that "she has not eaten any chicken like this before"

So, if you ad the cost of medication, it might cost you a little more than N313.60/bird, shouldn't be a whole lot though. So the breakdown for me was that to get a bird to about 2.5kg, the bird will need about 4kg of food. With this info, you can work out the cost of the bag of feed in your area and the number of birds you want to raise.

Good luck.

Forex like every other business is about buying and selling, just that in this case, you are trading currency. If you get a good training at http://cjfranklin.myuprizesite.com/ and have a good software that can help you with your trade, you can mitigate your lose and actually make a lot of money doing that at uprize.com after your training which comes with a demo account and an Intellitrader software, when you go life, with just an account of $2k, you can average about $100/day in your trading.

If you go to a market and take a mirror and bend down and look at the lets of the people walking around in the market, you will notice that some of them are ghost, their legs doesn't touch the ground. But if they discover you, they will try to hit the mirror off your hand and if they do and the mirror touch ground, you will die. I thought of trying it out at Oshodi market, but fear no allow me.

If you see a dead person that you know, if you can go behind them and use a Razor blade and put a mark at their back, they will stay and come back to live.

The silence of Nigerians on what the BH was doing up there in the north to mostly the Igbos is bad. Watch the belief of a typical northern.

PoliticsRe: Fuel Subsidy Removal: President Goodluck Jonathan's Speech by fnk: 6:46am On Jan 08, 2012
The money that the President will use to build the railroad and all that he is  promising, were is it coming from? Have they started saving the oil subsidy money already? If the Gov't have money to do this things that he mentioned, why didn't they do it before removing the subsidy.
This people are just blowing hot air. The issue I see here is that the different between the N141 and N65 is what a typical Nigerian gets from the Gov't, and he gets it because it is embedded in the subsidy. Now Goodluck want to take that money (N76) and share it to the state, local and federal gov't and expect them to somehow get it to the people. This is a dream. This is if you say that the true amount that nigerians should have been paying is N141.  In Lagos, they will steal the money, use it to fix the road and toll it. Either way the masses is screwed.

The gov't should put in place the things they are talking about before removing the subsidy.
CareerRe: N1m Monthly Income In Nigeria: Fact Or Fiction? by fnk: 3:34am On Dec 06, 2011
My take is that you think of starting a business, where you can add value to the country. There is a lot of opportunity in Nigeria, you might be able to find a job that pays that much, but it is a dog eat dog world, you won't have time to enjoy it. But if you can come up with a business idea that you can start that have good clientele, you can make a lot of money there. Remember, in Nigeria it is a number game. If your product or services can appeal to a large audience, you will be in for a good venture. I moved back to Nigeria about 3 years ago, did very well, but the U.S company that I took there downsized and it affected me. I moved back to the U.S few months ago to resettle my family, but I am working on going back soon. With my experience now, I know exactly what to do when I go back.

So, please do your due diligence, you can make more than a million Naira/month in Nigeria, but is will be more as a result of running your own business, and blessing the lives of other people in the process.

PoliticsRe: 2011 Will Determine Nigeria’s Future – Adebiyi ! by fnk: 11:57pm On Sep 28, 2010
Guys! you keep asking what do they have in the North, Most of the food you eat in Nigeria today doesn't come from the South, they have large scale farming and produces most of the food we eat in Nigeria. I lived in a small country in South America where all the natural resources is cow, cattle ranch. Other countries go there to buy cows kill them and ship them to their own country. So, if Nigeria should divide (God Forbid), I think everyone will do just well Oh! by the way the country I was talking about only have 3 Million people. The region I fear for is the Igbo people. We are not know to follow a leader, or respect a leader, so who will lead us? of course the Igbo people have great potential but up till now, it has been to their detriment. So lets hope 2011 come and go as other years, and this time in 2012 we are singing Arise O compatriot, together as one Nigeria.
