Ib10001: @fnk pls kindly send me the report,my e-mail is olasalty@yahoo.co.ukDone. Good Luck in this new year. |
@jites, With passion, you can do anything you set your mind to. I want to go into poultry business, and I want to be very good at it. I currently represent couple American companies in introducing their products to the Nigerian market, that involves shipping and clearing, dealing with different gov't agencies who are out to suck you and literarily see you fail. So in search of what can be locally produced and locally consumed and with a good turn over, I started looking into poultry business. Knowing that a lot of mum and pop are involved in it, my idea is to differentiate myself and my bird from the rest and do it well. So with the challenges of loosing all your birds is also the opportunity of success and running a well known and recognized poultry farm in Nigeria. And this is what my target is. Lets see how next year turns out. I wish you'all the best.

|
@jites, I don't think the road to success is clear cut. no matter how much info you get here, you will still need a leap of faith to get started. Even me with my research and all that, I am still expect some unforeseen events happening that scare me off my pants if I am not ready to handle it. I think why Nigeria is still a land of opportunity is simply because of unpredictability of the place, anything can happen any time. So that said, as some point, you will need to grab the bull by the horn and just ride it, and if you come out alive; what a trill the ride will be. I am planning to start my own little poultry venture next year as well, i can't wait to begin an have the ability to post picture like Basking4me and the rest did. And do I have chance to succeeded, sure 98 and 3/4% guaranteed. If poultry business is a mountain, I am about to climb it to the very top. Watch out for "Franklin Chicken" in the store near you. So guys, let us make this tread fun again. jites: @Basking4me what is happening to this thread, it was very interesting from the begining when we were seeing pictures of day old chicks, building of the chicken house etc etc, now its all about fkn can you please send me the document, to be honest i also requested the document out of curiosity to see what it was all about but like fkn said himself its nothing but a mixture he came out with that he thinks is good for people in the poultry business. |

Guys, Sorry that it took me so long to get back to y'all. Have been very busy setting things up here in Lagos. Few American companies wanted me to help them with their product expansion and distribution in Nigeria, and I am busy working on importation, setting up my office and introducing the product and opportunity to interested distributors. Off course, Poultry is my ultimate goal, because I want to do it and do it well, but until then, I have to set up other source of income as I make my transition. Thank you guys. Please share your experience with what you are doing. |
Thank you. I will most likely start next year. I am super busy with setting up projects I came back with, and should be heading back in November but to be back January, it is then that I will start putting things together for my poultry project. Thanks again I will report my progress here when I start and invite anyone who which to see what I am doing at that time. megainvest: Wonderful thread I must say. |
This thread is going down.Everytime i recieved an update that there is a new post,i dont even bother to read because i can easily guess that its another dude asking FNK about a poultry report.Honestly there is nothing in that report, the only special addition is the 'virushield solution' used, and as long as FNK didnt want to share the info regarding how to get virushield (i am convinced that is not the real name of the solution),i dont think asking for the report should be the major purpose of this thread existence.I am not saying that Fnk should share his secret,I fully understand that it would be a competitive advantage for him when he finally decided to go into the world of poultry.Anyway,my chicks are now in their 5th week,i bought 100 doc only 1 mortality was recorded so far.I may not be as experienced as many in this biz,but I am conviced that the secret to reducing mortality to minimum is to obey simple rule of hygiene, have passion for the chicks and do not procrastinate.I replace the bedding material every week to ensure that micro-organism doesnt have enough time to infect my chicks.I try my best not to allow water to pour on the flour so as to keep the bedding material (saw dust ) dry.I wash their drinkers everytime i refill it with clean water.I used tap water and only started using well water after they were about 4weeks old,by then i believed they have developed immunity against most diseases. Finally,i ensured that i gave them every medication as directed by my instructor. The medication schedule is as follow: I bought AMINTOTAL,PANTERYL & PANTACOX. Amintotal is a multivatamine that can help to give them strenght agaist body weakness and is usefull when the chicks have been stressed.Stress may be due to transportation, heat & change in feed. PANTERYL & PANTACOX are preventive and treatment drugs for a lot of poultry diseases(the diseases are many and are stated on each drug cover sachet). So for the first five days ,i keep adding a teaspoon of both pantery and amintotal to their drinking water. Then i stoped for 3 days and on the 8th day,i gave them gomboro vacine.from 9th day to 16th day,i added pantacox and amintotal to their drinking water after which i stoped for another 3 days, then gave them lasota vacine.Thats all.I believed anyone should be able to raise a healthy chicken if appropriate procedure is observed. The koko is the market.Guys, broiler market is really competitive.I am thinking about going out very soon to market them(probably tomorow). Also i dont even know how they are priced.Well,i hope the price worth the money they consumed(still consuming lol). Those guys eat like glutton.Infact there was a time i got scared thinking they may die due to excess food.Alas! They are still getting fat.I will be sticking around to learn more on thread.Gud work guys. @Ade10, I totally agree with you. my intention on this site is not to lead anyone on. I explained or commented on what I did and a lot of people have been interested to know. And like you said, anyone can take their time and put together the info that I have on my research. And yes, I named the solution Virushield or V-Mix because of the mixture of the solution that I use in the well water that I used for the poultry. So, you won't find V-mix out there. For those that are new, they can play around with the info to cost their investment and have an idea of how to go into the industry. So guys, lets continue populating this tread with more useful info like the one Ade101 gave us above. |
I have beed advised to do that. I was just going to use it solely for my poultry products, that way my chicken will taste better than yours. But I am seriously considering packaging it and selling to farmers. I haven't started though, still very busy with other things. miqos02: oga fnk. this document does not include the solution, WHY? IS IT FOR SALE? |
Sorry for the delay, 326 and 66 are # of 25kg bags of feed. Starter mash and finisher for broilers. And N1,960 and N1920 are the prices respectively. Prices may have changed upwards. Hope this helps. Cejo1: Thanks bro, am really grateful |
Set guys. Sorry for the delay, back in the country and internet service here is not that great. Good luck |
Sent guys. Good luck |
I have sent the docs guys. I will be in Naija next week. lets keep talking |
ade101: Today,my chicks are 8 days old. They are not as beautiful and clean as i wanted. The soot from charcoal pot and kerosene lantern are not helping either.I observed that the part of their neck below the beak is always dirty and usually wet.I believed the presence of water due to their habit of raising their head when trying to digest water causes the wetness. So most of the chicks have their feather falling off their neck to the extent that you can see their exposed neck (meat).I aint happy seeing that.Apart from the way they look,I believed they are healthy. They run and play around. So i think their performance is ok.I realized that the drinkers are too close to the ground and the litter is not high enough, hence it is easily wet.I planned to remove the litter and put a new one.I just gave them gomboro vaccine today so i will do the litter replacement tommorow.I have also raised their drinkers.I hope their look doesnt make them an easy target for diseases.I just went to check on the chicks of my mentor, they are as old as mine and look as attractive as when they were a day old.It further weaken my spirit.Anyway, so far,I have no mortality and that makes me feel better.Honestly,i like this buisness. Its like wonder when you are happy when your chick are happily playing around.Good job, nice to hear. If you can post picture so that we can see the chicks. |

Canadian Firm & Niger Govt to Raise 26M Chickens Yearly NIGERIA - The Niger Government has completed a partnership arrangement with a Canadian firm to produce 26 million chickens annually, the state Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr Mustapha Lemu, has said. Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting in Minna, Dr Lemu said that the collaborative arrangement followed discussions between the government and the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria. Dr Lemu said that the proposed poultry farm which would operate on 35 hectares located within the airport city project, would also produce 13 million crates of egg yearly. According to Vanguard, he said that the farm was expected to provide direct employment for 10,000 indigenes and ensure the development of small businesses in the area. He said that the state government was expected to provide N40 million as its contribution for the take-off of the farm, adding: "The farm will revolutionise farming in the state." He said the state would benefit from technologies on food processing and preservation, adding that farmers would maximise their gains by reducing post-harvest losses on perishable farm produce. "Small and medium-sized machinery and technology for juice extraction are readily available and could be acquired and installed through linkages with selected firms in Canada." |
