There's no online booking for other NRC routes, you'd have to go there early and book ahead and it's quite draining.

You best bet is to probably exit the country and go for postgraduate studies abroad. That way you can easily open yourself to international opportunities. While you may be lucky to escape any of those low-paying jobs, the chances are quite low. Opportunities are generally lacking in Nigeria.

Oh that's nice actually. You know that if you intend traveling from Warri to Abuja, the train will stop you at either Itakpe or Ajaokuta in Kogi State, then you'd take a bus from there to Abuja.
It's cool sha. At least you won't spend 10-13hrs straight on road trip.

I have been going on train rides since the launch of the Kaduna to Abuja and Abuja to Kaduna route.Passengers suffered in the hands of those railways staff when tickets were been sold at the counter.Currently tickets are sold online ,you can just buy your ticket a day before your scheduled journey from the comfort of your home.

My experience on the 19th of February 2022 .I was travelling from Abuja to Kaduna on the 10.04 train .Usually the train leaves from the Idu station and makes a stop at Kubwa to pick passengers.I boarded from the Kubwa station .When I got my seat my seat mate who bought an aisle seat had taken my window seat.

I looked at him and asked him to move to his seat,typical Nigerian he wanted to be mouthy ,it took me two nano minutes to get his arse off my seat.

I just can never understand why people always think they can bully people out of their seats in this country.You take a road trip ,plane trip and train trip same character everywhere .

Me that is always on the move I have mastered the act of moving people to their seat positions .

@ folake4u is it that the tickets for your route cannot be bought online currently or you choose to buy from the counter?

I want to travell that route soonest and honestly I am not interested in train tickets across the counter anymore.

I really hope Nigeria develops the train travel option further.Even though I know we are far from what is obtainable in advanced countries further improvements will not be so bad.

There's no tickets online for Warri-Itakpe route.
It's so sad. You'd have to buy at the counter and it's stressful.

Omo, if you want to ply this route soon, just go early like an hour before the train's arrival to book your ticket. The crowd is much and those agberos are forever there to sell tickets at exorbitant amount when the tickets are sold out across the counter.

Yes, I'm hoping that they'd take the railway option further. I hear they're building a station at Calabar though, a friend said so.

The AC was freezing cold too oh. I wore short sleeves and a short gown too. I had goosebumps all over me.

I saw many fine people (men and women). One of the railway station men tried chyking me but I nor send am.

Trust Nigerians na, there were people too who were selling tickets for ridiculous amount. It was annoying actually.
Omo! How I carried my luggage ehn, I pushed so many people as the "agbero" that I am.

Really, there's nothing in this life. I saw a lot of poor people and I can really say that it pays to be kind, because you don't know what the other person is going through.

Who knew one could leave Edo and Delta State and get to Kogi State under 3hrs?
Well, now you know.
The starting point is at Ujevwu(Warri) and last railway station at Itakpe,Kogi State. From there, you can go to any northern state of your choice and it's a safe option as against the long road trips.
The sequence is in this format:
Ujevwu(Warri), Okpara, Abraka, Agbor (all in Delta State) then Igbanke, Ekehen, Uromi, Agenebode, Itogbo(all in Edo State), and finally Ajaokuta, Itakpe (both in Kogi State).

Ujevwu-Itakpe destination (Morning Train)
For instance, the train departs from Ujevwu(Warri) at 8am, it gets to Agbor at 9:26am, and then Igbanke at 9:49am, next is Ajaokuta at 12:01noon, the final stop is at Itakpe, 12:49noon

Ujevwu-Itakpe (Afternoon Train)
Ujevwu- 2:15pm
Agbor- 3:41pm
Ajaokuta- 6:15pm
Itakpe- 7:04pm

Itakpe-Ujevwu destination (Morning Train)
Itakpe:8:30am
Ajaokuta:9:23am
Agbor: 11:57am
Finally, Ujevwu (Warri): 1:19pm.

Afternoon Train-
Itakpe- 2:45pm
Ajaokuta- 3:38pm
Agbor: 6:12pm
Finally, Ujevwu- 7:34pm

I boarded at Ajaokuta Railway Station and these are the prices to the following.
From Ajaokuta to Itakpe- N1,400
Itogbo- N1,400
Agenebode- N1,400
Uromi- N1,400
Ekehen- N3,000 Igbanke, Agenebode, Abraka, Okpara, Agbor, Ujevwu- all 3k (for economy class).
First Class to the above locations is N5,500.

PS: They also sell snacks and soft drinks on the train in case you're hungry.
There's also armed Police officers on the train to maintain law and order.

It should be noted that before buying tickets at the Ajaokuta Railway Station, you'd have to write your name in the logbook and also present your ID card at the counter. Any means of identification is fine, whether Driver's license, International Passport, NIN, Student ID.

This was my first time boarding a train ride and it was eventful yet awesome.
Many Nigerians have taken to using the railway service as against road trips(which is farther, fear of bandits, and bad roads).
For instance, from Abuja to Benin is 10-12hrs straight by road.

There are different railway stations in Nigeria and they ply several routes which includes:
1. Ujevwu-Itakpe.
2. Abeokuta-Ibadan
3. Lagos-Abeokuta
4. Lagos-Ibadan
5. Abuja-Kaduna

The Beginning:
There are two railway stations in Kogi State, Ajaokuta Railway station and Itakpe Railway station.
I boarded a bus from Abuja at Jabi Motorpark, I told the bus driver I was going to Itakpe Railway station but he dropped me at Ajaokuta Railway Station instead.
From Abuja to Itakpe is 3hrs, the price is 3,500-4k.
From Abuja to Ajaokuta is 5hrs. The driver collected 2,500 from me.
So, choose your poison. I prefer anyone drops at Itakpe Railway Station though (because it's the last and most important bus stop).

The train leaves twice in a day, morning and afternoon and so I had missed the morning train, and so I waited for the afternoon train.
Morning train leaves Itakpe at 8:30am while that at Ajaokuta is 9:23am.
Afternoon train leaves Itakpe at 2:45pm, that of Ajaokuta is 3:38pm.
Tickets are sold 20-30mins to the train arrival at Ajaokuta Railway station.
There are two types of tickets sold here.
1. First class- N5,500.
2. Economy class- N3000.

I boarded the First Class coach because I wanted comfort and less noise.

From Ajaokuta to Agbor is 3hrs and so I got to Agbor at 6:30pm(instead of 6:12pm) because there was delay at the earliest train station in Uromi.

I boarded a bus at Agbor Railway Station to Benin for N2,000 and I arrived safely home and dry.

As for cow leg, a friend adds fresh chewing gum when boiling it, she claims it makes the cowleg boil faster and makes it more tender.

This looks so good. I love stew that the Red colour is sharp.
By the way, I saw where you didn't add salt when seasoning the meat to boil, I heard it makes the meat hard or something. I don't know how true it is.
