How did 2.3 billion become 7 billion?? That's really terrible from MTN especially in this times when we are all struggling with the naira valuation. MTN should please do better

Absolutely shocked at how MTN is handling this with Globacom. Bullying in the corporate world is real!

jimiabdul:
From a whopping Sum of N7.05bn to N2.3bn, How GLOBACOM Resisted Corporate Bullying by MTN

The raging disagreements between Nigerian owned telecoms giant, GLOBACOM, and the near-monopolistic South African behemoth, MTN, seems to have reached a crescendo.

According to impeccable industry sources, MTN had tried to intimidate and blackmail GLOBACOM on its own soil but the telecoms company stood its ground by challenging MTN to prove whatever case it had instead of engaging in cheap blackmail.

It turned out to be a fight worth fighting. From experience, GLOBACOM was used to being harassed by those who failed to realise that its promoters built its business conglomerates in an organic fashion and never through the surreptitious processes.

MTN had slammed a whopping sum of over N7.05 billion on GLOBABOM, covering interconnect charges of N1.6 billion (which was already paid before the controversial publication), VAT of N1.7 billion allegedly paid on behalf of GLOBACOM, and a compounded interest of N3.6 billion, which GLOBACOM considered preposterous since it is the absolute prerogative of companies to pay its own interests and never through proxies. Thus it was bizarre that MTN paid VAT on its behalf when it was already an established fact that GLOBACOM met all its obligations to FIRS.

In view of this painstaking reconciliation, MTN can now go ahead to call up the First Bank payment guarantee dated 17th January 2024. This shall represent the full and final payment.

GLOBACOM insists that MTN should never have been pampered to the extent that it wields the power of life and death over home grown competitors. According to checks on MTN operations elsewhere, this is the same modus operandi that led to several major telecoms companies collapsing and fleeing from Ghana.

I bet all those using airtel/mtn also have glo sims, why not address why people prefer mtn to glo instead of this lame emotional outburst.

That’s true, most Nigerians have at least 2 sims one of which is usually Glo. I think it’s mostly a question of location because there are lots of time MTN/Airtel customers also complain about network issues so it’s not just a Glo thing.

Business / Re: Why French President Honored Mike Adenuga With Highest Honor by Folasho99: 11:30am On Aug 13, 2018
Awesome.Working hard and letting your success be your noise is a phrase to describe Mike Adenuga. A man so humble and hardworking.
bluecircle470:
Nigerians started seeing full page color adverts in national dailies commending Glo boss Chief Mike Adenuga for being honored with the French distinguished medal by President Emmanuel Macron during his recent state visit. However, many did not know for what reason.

Mike Adenuga Newsmakers gathered from reliable sources that the Globacom boss got the highest French honor of commander of the Legion of Honor for rebuilding the French Cultural Center otherwise known as Alliance De Francaise on Alfred Rewane Road Ikoyi Lagos all by himself.

The idea of the rebuilding of the French edifice which acted as a receptacle for French cultural activities and relationships with Nigeria was said to have been muted by Adenuga’s daughter Mrs. Bella Disu whose relationship with France has been on for a long time.

Insiders say Bella sought the support of her generous dad who agreed to foot the bill of the reconstruction effort.

She is also said to have supervised and coordinated the reconstruction work of the edifice commissioned by French President in the presence of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and other distinguished Nigerians.

Chief Michael Adeniyi Agbolade Ishola Adenuga Jr, GCON is a Nigerian billionaire businessman described as the second-richest person in Nigeria. His company Globacom is Nigeria’s second-largest telecom operator, and has a presence in Ghana and Benin Republic.

At the commissioning, Macron described Adenuga as a “role model for Africa”.

At least Glo has said something concerning these lies people are peddling. How's it possible that only married women would be sacked.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Mike Adenuga's Globacom Sacks Over 90 Married Female Staff by Folasho99: 4:33pm On Mar 10, 2018
LasgidiOnline:
Married female staff of Globacom are currently in pains after the Chairman, Mike Adenuga laid off over 90 of them, according to a reliable source, the management laid them off because they were married and Mike Adenuga does not want married women in his company again.

Read a post from one of the sacked female staff.

I received a rude shock from the company I have served diligently for 13years yesterday. I, alongside almost 90 other married women were laid off simply because we are married and Dr. Mike Adenuga does not want any married woman in Globacom (Gloworld friendship centre).

I was laid off a company I dedicated my time & energy to, working tirelessly and always dedicated to my job giving my 200%. My family & friends would always say if I had a cut, my blood will be "green". Some of you would wonder what I was doing in Globacom for 13 good years, I will give you an insight of my story.

I joined the company a vibrant 22year old, freshly out of school graduate. I have worked with dedication, total commitment and loyalty. I can convinietly say I rose through the ladder being an outstanding staff and got whatever due given to such persons. Not a single one of the several bosses I have worked with can give negative report about me.

I have trained several staff on the job and can proudly say that i was a good leader as I was a follower. So yes, I was not stagnant (considering that the company has no coherent organizational structure) and had every reason to believe that hard work & dedication pays until Globacom said otherwise.

We were replaced with males (some of whom have not earned the positions) single ladies (who have neither earned nor have any knowledge about the job) and newly recruited staff who are by the way poorly paid all in a bid to get rid of us.

How can experience be thrown away because of a so called new structure? How does a marital blessing with the gift of children suddenly become a dissabilty to work? I'm not certain there is anyone that wishes for their child, sister, friend or even herself to be unmarried and not have children. This act is a discrimination against gender and human rights to work.

We were laid off with absolutely nothing in form of compensation for what they have done! We were used and thrown away with only one month salary in lieu which they promised to pay yesterday but have obviously failed to as usual. It is only in Globacom that such injustice can be done & feel "they" will get away with it. Please we need justice over the matter, kindly forward to as many of your contacts until justice prevails, this cannot be swept under the carpet! Thank you.

There must have been a reason why they were sacked and it’s not because of being Married, it has more to do with bad work ethics, nobody will fire someone who is adding value to their company, these set of women were definitely not adding any immense value
