Uyi Iredia: I stopped where you talked about Eledumare being the totality of forces to comment. I'll go back to finish reading yoir response. My knowledge of Ifa worship comes from what my Dad practiced and a book called Ifism by Osamaro Ibiwie. It appears Edos copied Ifa worahip from the Yorubas and to some extent corrupted it with their own religion but my understanding since childhood was, and still is that Eledumare is the Creator God. I told this to Pastor AIO but he said the man didn't go into details of the Odus though personally I found the tales of the Odus like Oyeku-meji interesting. In fact, I don't believe you despite the knowledge you espouse, the only person who I can take more seriously is Pastor AIO, I think I should resurrect the thread so you kind of see where I'm coming from. The major difference I could tell was that Eledumare hardly directly intervened in governing the world, Esu (Devil) OTOH acted much and could do good or bad to someone so long as the person duly honored him with sacrifices.

The Ifa religion is monoarhaenistic (if I recall correctly) in that there is a Creator God (Eledumare) who made and is head over other deities who act as intermediaries to humanity on his behalf.

Culture didn't just sprung form nowhere, dude. It has it's origin in Religion. Before the advent of Christianity and Islam, many civilization were actively engaged in heathern gods worship, which is so intricately inter-woven into their various cultures, that an outsider wouldn't even begin to comprehend which one is which.

Works of arts, started as such as artists strive to put their imagination into physical interpretation. Masterpieces like the pyramids of Egypt, Statue of Hecules, Pyramids of the Mayans, etc, sprung up all their majestic splendor. All this great work of arts were all done in honor of one god of another.

Literature and Music also had a similar and parallel nature.
Culture, civilization, arts, music owes a lot to religion, and telling yourself otherwise is only making you look desperate and ignorant.

On the issue of spirituality, Religion is all about being one with ones spirituality. Spirituality is religion and religion is spirituality...Take it or leave it

A bomb goes off somewhere, and you blame religion. But what your tiny brain fails to realise is the that extremism has nothing to do with religion, - it's mostly political.

In a world devoid of religion, a lot of violence is inevitable because, there are no more consequences, repercussions, blow-backs, - after all, everything is meaningless, right?

Without religion, the world will be in complete chaos.

There are a lot of factors as to why;

1) In a world absence of morality clause, People humping dogs will become legal.

2) Smoking marijuana, and doing hard drugs will become legit.

3) Cloning of humans and animals will be passed into law.

4) Homosexualism(Yes, I said it) will become the new vogue.

etc...

These are simply tip of an iceberg as to why the world need religion. Religion restores order, give one a morality compass and so on.

Religion of course like all things under the Sun is not perfect. Bad elements are bound to erupt now and again, but the gains are far more greater than the setbacks.

jennykadry: During my high school days IN Nigeria, I had a female friend who wrote JAMB 4 good times until her father decided to fly her out of the country.....this girls father took her to the examination centre each time and whenever her result came out it had "candidate absent" written on it. This girl is blessed with brains, the head girl of my school who scored all A's. Her father decided to follow it up and he was told they sold his daughter's result to someone else and if he wanted it back he had to double the pay the other person paid.

The father sent his daughter overseas and as usual she proved her intelligence and is a practising Gynae now. If this girl comes tomorrow on NLD and curse that country called Nigeria some of us will start wetting our pants in anger. You expect her to leave America and come practice in Nigeria, America gave her that which Nigeria denied her and it is only fair that she gives back to them.
