You just explained my point. But you messed it up on one thing - I think it's on the ground of ignorance. Dumb population has a little to do with the Economy - it plays a very minute role - you can categorize them in unskilled labor - but with huge pp, it can play a great role. I believe Buhari is one of the dumbest humans on the planet but generating high taxes, boosting your country's economy, right? cool
If GDP is going up steadily, people will pay more tax simply because they're earning and spending more.

bolded is exactly what I am saying..... If SA had the same population as Nigeria it would have an economy three times that of Nigeria
If SA is actually better, they don’t need population to have three times that of Nigeria’s GDP because you were once the biggest in Africa. Even America has a bigger economy than China and India with 4 times the population of America.

The point remains SA has been disposed by a more innovative and industrious people of Nigeria. grin

Are you being deliberately obtuse or do you just want to justify how your imaginary GDP is not rigged?

A huge population contributes to high tax returns, huge labor input, huge consumption rates, huge cash flow...... Name them.

In an African context, big pp plays a huge role in GDP. Population goes hand in hand with the economy. Observe the trend from BC to date; the dynamic in GDP growth can't be tucked away - of course with the impact of population growth rate. Nigeria of 1990 had a mere 95million pp with a paltry $54billion GDP. In 2022, your population in nearly thrice with 8 times GDP. Don't come with the invention and innovation shenanigans cos pp is the enabler of that.

The life-cycle hypothesis can also help you decipher the impact of population on an economy.

Yes, a huge population does not equate to a huge economy, but it is the key driver that greases the wheel for other economic activity - cos here, we talk of numbers.
A dump population can’t create wealth. Goods and services didn’t germinate from the ground rather it was through the innovations of the people and the ability to grow it.

.
If GDP is going up steadily, people will pay more tax simply because they're earning and spending more
.

This is as a result of people’s innovations that create wealth not dumb population.

jl115:
did I say population is the only factor to economic size? No I didn't, however it is a major contributer, Nigeria is a poor county, same as Kenya and the rest of Africa as can be seen in your GDP per capita..... As I've said before, the only reason that Nigeria as the largest economy in Africa is because of your massive population....Nigeria certainly isn't more wealthy than SA, that's just the facts my bru
How is it measured?

GDP can be measured in three ways:
Output: The total value of the goods and services produced by all sectors of the economy - agriculture, manufacturing, energy, construction, the service sector and government

Expenditure: The value of goods and services bought by households and by government, investment in machinery and buildings - this also includes the value of exports, minus imports

Income: The value of the income generated, mostly in terms of profits and wages.

Where did population comes in?

Population doesn’t produce goods and services but through people’s innovations.

Meaning, Nigerians are more innovative than South Africans. That’s all.

In that particular set, most paid for the preliminary MRI test. That was why Kanu Nwankwo paid for many of the boys screening.

It was a move by the NFF not to wait for the CAF screening before doing theirs, to prevent CAF screening out an already prepared team just before the competition.

So the scan cost N100,000 and Obinwa came in from America, so he was not listed among those covered by sponsors. Note some agents also paid for screening.

When the result came out, Obinwa failed the screening. It did not mean he was overage. Keep in mind, they used strict requirements. So the mother asking for the scans was out of the question because what criteria will they use to ascertain.
What is wrong in asking for result you paid for? I smell fraud.

To many lies in a less than 300 word writeup -bro you be sat.n oh!!

There is nothing today like ogun cargo airport,it's not in any FAAN newslater- only in beer parlour gists.

Most federal roads in Abia is a dual carriage road. Do you even know that Abia shares boundaries with more than 5 states ? I just mentioned federal roads in Aba alone and you got Hbp.

And till we get proper data like we see about registered voters, the fact that ogun state has more industries than all states in Nigeria is mere conjuncture-not a fact and industries doesn't make a state more developed than another.

Since you accept that the SE comes out tops in federal exams ,what are we still arguing about ? Education is about the individual not the structure .

If you have the best campuses in the SW ,yet the best students are from the SE, it simply means that the SE is top-simple as that .

Let's come back to express roads in ogun ,wasn't it just last year that ogun got a respectable tolled express way that leads to Lagos ? Other express road in your state are mudpits for growing mudfish.

No matter the number of flyovers Ebonyi has ,it greatly outnumbers whatever figure you can conjucture in ogun- even if we lovingly add the abandoned flyovers in ogun, you guys will still play catch up.

For all una ..boasting, you all are underachievers.

In the SE, we've had state government invest in building gas pipeline's to industrialize Aba. We've seen state government's build airports in owerri in imo,Umueri in Anambra and ebonyi . Your ogun never did any of such, yet you claim a development over the SE ? Are you well ?
Answer the questions and stop dribbling yourself.

1. How many lanes are those express roads? Apart from Enugu Port Harcourt express that is dualized, which one is dualized? grin

Are they not filled with big pot holes?

You even mentioned Aba - Uyo express? shocked is it the one you will pass through Ogbor Hill to Ikot Ikpene?

the way you parrot federal roads never seem to surprise me- Aba alone has Aba-owerri express road,Aba-uyo express,Aba-pH (,falls under Enugu-ph express) so that makes you a misinformed lier.

where are pictures from this airport supposedly under construction ? which boldfaced lie is this ? we have seen pictures from that of Anambra and ebonyi- where is pictures of those from ogun ? and who told you Aba inner-city roads are worse off than those of ogun ?

Do you even realize your comparing a city to your whole state ? Flyovers serve a purpose not for decoration but even at that, ebonyi has more flyovers than ogun hence it's more developed- next !!

Another lie.Ariaria
a formost commerce and production centre has a dedicated power plant . Does that your little market in ogun have one ?in addition we have the alaoji power plant and Aba ipp that will soon come on stream.

Aba has manufacturing companies densely concentrated in it also.ranging from gunieas brewery, Nigeria brewery,Aba malt plant, afro beverages, inner galaxy industrial estates, pz, glass force-now console group, GZI , valumbra flour Mills and many more coming up (I listed only the multinationals I know of,no Nigerian owned factories).

Till foremost data is released ,we will never know the cities in Nigeria that has more manufacturing companies. What is stopping the release of this type of information ? a state by state list of registered manufacturing entities.

my mistake ,I should have said mid-rise building's (5 stories to 10) . And you keep exposing your ignorance of Aba .But please where exactly is this high rise (15-18 stories ) in ogun ?

and yet jamb, waec and most other public exams, the SE is dominant. Why ? Beautiful and numerous building's yet no quality content -you must be a graduate of one of such.

Even Ebonyi have a greater cutoff mark to get into Nigeria's unitary school than some states in the SW.

the above doesn't deserve an answer because it's a lie

For your information, Ogun State has more dualized and well paved express than Abia State. Having express with potopoto and big potholes is not infrastructure development. grin

2. Google for Ogun Cargo airport and see for yourself.

3. Point of correction. I am comparing Ogun State with other SE states.

4. How many flyovers and bridges do you have in the whole of Ebonyi? grin

5. Ogun State as a state has more industries than all the states in Nigeria. My points remain the same.

6. According to Emporis, A building with 12 floors automatically becomes an high rise whether the height is known or not. Opic buildings in Abeokuta are 12 floors. E shock you? grin no place in Abia State can you find such. grin

7. Covenant university is the second best ranked university in Nigeria behind UI. Sorry.

After all, that is where you will enter with your Jamb and Waec. How come all SE universities are not top 1 to 10? Miracle centers

please along which part of faulks road is called ishimiri ? since you know Aba well ?

and please answer my previous question .

Obasanjo's farm, two prayer camps and a market I never heard of till today are the evidence that ogun is more developed ? thank God you called them landmarks -no longer development indices.

Thank you for bringing Abakaliki into the thread. Also thanks for indirectly pointing out that, that city is still developed than any city in your ogun state.

which city in ogun beats onitsha, Aba, Abakaliki, Enugu or owerri in development ?

you think develop is having industries alone? that wrong . We see Dubai , California as places well developed but not industrialized like many less known Chinese or American cities.

in terms of development be bringing out Lagos not that squatters colony called ogun
Which all? Stop deceiving yourself. Very few here knows Ariaria market. I never heard about it until I went there but everyone in Nigeria knows about Ota farm, Redemption Camp, MFM, Canaanan Land etc in Ogun State.

I mentioned these places because they are popular and attracts millions of people per year. Simple and short..

Some of these places have hotels, university, sports facilities, TV and radio stations, housing estates, schools, malls etc.

The point remains there are more popular areas in Ogun State than Abia State. Development yans is just another way of deviating from the point of debate in this context.

When you get to Aba, ask for the meaning of Ishimiri, okay. You definitely don’t have an Idea.

Can you please show me where I wrote those aforementioned places are evidence Ogun State is more developed than SE states?

Stop confusing yourself and stick to discussion.

Hahahaha! Abakaliki developed than all cities in Ogun State.

Abakaliki can’t stand beside Arepo not to talk of Abeokuta.

Abeokuta is more developed than Onitsha, Aba, Abakaliki and Owerri. However, we are talking about having more developed infrastructures in a state as a whole. And that’s why Ogun State is more developed than SE states. Gbam!

Apart Owerri in Imo state, Onitsha and Awka in Anambra, Abakaliki in Ebonyi, and Umuahia in Abia State, mentions other cities in those states with soft and hard infrastructures.

I reiterate, Ogun State is more developed than SE states.

And there is nowhere called ishimiri in Aba.stop regurgitation of I hear say facts.
you access Ariaria through mcc-samek road(beautiful road) , thought you lived in Aba.

Today omuma road is being constructed (it also leads to ariaria)

faulks road is being redone with reinforced concrete ,if people can find there way to agbara and many parts of ogun despite murderous roads, then others definitely can find there way to Ariaria.

BTC ? seriously ? when did you even reside at Aba ? sure you're one of those know it all yoruba corpers that served in the East. you think traveling through Enugu-ph, aba-owerri , Owerri -anambra roads on your way home after NYSC means you can act like you lived at those places?

you even know of Ariaria ? that shows how popular it is,but remind me again of any internationally popular market in ogun ? I can't seem to have heard of any -how about you ?
The fact you don't know what Ishimri means in Aba proves you don't know much about ABA

Go and ask the Slogan Ishimri then we can discuss further.

Oga! I told you I lived in that place for almost a decade and you are still asking me if I know Ariaria, hmmmm! Even Abakaliki is more developed than ABA. I know ABA more than you.

Nobody in the SW who has never been to ABA knows Ariria Market though it is the most popular landmark in Abia state but who doesn't know Redeem Camp, Ota farm, Animal care, Canaan Land, MFM prayer ground, Adire Market etc. There more popular landmarks in Ogun State than Abia state. Don't compare.

I kindly disagree with you. Is it too difficult for you to swallow ? you claim ogun is more developed -no problem..

And I say ogun is no where near development .No airport, no sea port, bad roads -more bad than anywhere in the SE, open defecation is still a tradition in that state, no 24 hour electricity ,no sky scrappers,Aba even has more highrises than any city in ogun state, in terms of industries ,they both are slightly apart- so what makes ogun more developed ?
in terms of commerce Aba is ontop ,is it SME's ? in terms of education,we know which region have been leading in federal exams.

How exactly do you measure this your development ? we see humongous igr figures from ogun yet,the can't complete there flyovers or even one out of two airport projects groundbreaking has been done for.
1. In terms of Transportation infrastructure, Ogun State is ahead. 90% of Lagos- Ibadan express road is in Ogun state. There is still Lagos- Benin Express. In fact, more payed express in Ogun state than in the SE.

Inter city roads are paved and still undergoing constructions. Streets are payed in Major cities unlike ABA. There is railway stations and railway line in Ogun State. Two airports under construction. One will be completed in May. Transportation system will begin in few months time. Ogun has more bridges, flyovers, tunnel interchange etc than Abia state.

2. You have no idea why manufacturing companies are highly concentrated in Ogun State more than any state in Nigeria. Electricity in Ogun State is better than any state in the SE.

3. Apart from Seven deck along Faulks road, which building is higher than that in Aba? There's no single High-rise in Abia state because high-rise buildings are buildings with more than 7 floors. This can be found in Ogun State.

4. In terms of Education, Ogun State has more and better schools and universities than any state in the SE. Education doesn't stop a Waece or Jamb.

5. That's a stall news because those Flyovers are currently under construction.
