I hope this game will finally convince Rohr that Aina is good enough to hold the RB position in the team Where did I discredit Awaziem? |

safarigirl: Both players contributed when they needed to.
They are useful and skilkful in theirbown rights, many have tagged Awaziem the revelation of the tournament, and he has done his bit playing in an unnatural position.
This comment is uncalled for, after all, Aina has had his hare of gaffes in this tournament Awaziem didn't play badly against Algeria but he ought to have been substituted in that game after Chukwueze was isolated. That remains my point. |

Barryseal: What are you saying? Lookman have turned Nigeria down, Jordan Ibe, Nnedum Onuoha, Agbonlahor, Chucks Aneke, Tammy Abraham, Shola Ameobi (when he was good), Charlton Cole, Ugo Ehiogu, Chuba Akpom ( when he was a top prospect), I can name more.
Bros true Nigerians don't wait for a special invitation to represent Nigeria. You don't wait for red carpet IVs. Read the story about Nduka Ugbade and even Isaac Success. These guys used to sneak into the camp of the U17s uninvited, repeatedly they were asked to go home but they refused until they were given a chance.
How on earth can you compare these guys to the example I cited. I feel insulted reading these fBs are more Nigerian than the average street kid in Lagos. Just because they can say a few lines in pigin and dance azonto very well at parties. Average kids in Nigeria are looking for opportunities to butter their bread. It doesn't tantamount to being more or less a Nigerian. Many of these kids are ready to give up citizenship of this country for another. What do you say of Mikel and Obafemi who dey make us do yanga whenever they were invited for National duties? They hardly honour invitations during the early stage of their career. The point is most Nigerians will make decisions that will butter their bread before thinking of Nigeria. Besides, I don't think Lookman and Chuks Aneke turned us down. Can you show me where you got that from? However, there are also good numbers of them that wants to play for Nigeria. |

Onigbinde Makes Big Claim Some Prominent Nigerians Bought 1984 AFCON FinalPublished: July 16, 2019 Onigbinde Makes Big Claim Some Prominent Nigerians Bought 1984 AFCON Final Respected Nigerian coach Festus Onigbinde has suggested that the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations final between Cameroon and Nigeria was fixed, saying that some prominent Nigerians wanted the Super Eagles to lose the game. Onigbinde, who was in the dugout for the showpiece at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Abidjan, feels he is being sidelined by the Nigeria Football Federation despite his contributions to Nigerian football in the past. ''I sympathize with Nigeria, I had been to this competition before but now I am not relevant with Nigerian football, they have declared me irrelevant and I'm enjoying my rest,'' Onigbinde told Cool FM Abuja. ''In 1984 Nigeria placed second under my control and that was as a result of intrigues and sabotage by Nigerians so I wish Nigeria the best of luck. ''Certainly I would have won in 1984, at the right time I will reveal the secret to Nigerians, the final match was bought by some prominent Nigerians.'' Onigbinde refused to comment on whether more local based players should have made the Super Eagles roster to Egypt and appeared to aim a dig at manager Gernot Rohr, who wrote off the country's chances of winning the Africa Cup of Nations even before the competition started. ''That is left to the administrators, don't forget that before the competition started our coach rated Nigeria out of prominence,'' he concluded. The 81-year-old Onigbinde coached the Super Eagles at the 2002 World Cup and is an advocate on local based players being part of the senior national team. I will take a regular playing NPFL GK over Alampasu
How many games has he played since he went to portugal?
Someone that played just 3 games last season?
You people sef But the trio are bench warmers but the coach kept given them chance. Alampasu and co should be given the chance to prove themselves. |

How come they don't notice that none of our keepers are first choice for their crappy teams? Why would we not have a GK crisis on our hands?
Henceforth, I don't expect to see any of these GKs in the SE. For a country of over 160M people, I have a strong feeling that we have better GKs Hehehe! As long as that goalkeeper coach is still there, we are in for a long thing. |

Y'all just do not like the fella Awaziem can give long pass though. Shehu is not good at all as a RB. We should try him in the DMF position. Don't forget Awaziem was a DMF too. |

Icon4s: Firstly, the primary duty of a defender is to defend. Did you also consider whether Chukwueze also did enough to support Awaziem? Look you played Algeria who are the best attacking team in this tournament.
A full back should be more engaged in checking the advancement of the opposing wingers than adventuring forward. Chukwueze not living up to expectations in that game cannot be attributed to Awaziem. The Algerians just pocketed him. Simple. SA did not know how lethal Chukwueze was. His introduction into that game was the joker Rohr used to beat SA. Was he even defending well in that game? We needed a RB that has both ability to engage in checking the advancement of the opposing winger and at the same time adventure forward. Awaziem lacked one of these abilities but Aina is equipped with both. Chukwueze was pocketed because no player to support him one the flank for a one two pass or to make him drift away from his marker. Chukwueze was marked out with just one defender. A adventuring forward RB will double it to 2 against one. That would have caused them a lot of problem. Chukwueze supported Awaziem in that game but Awaziem as usual is never adventurous and that his why he relied more one his long balls. |

Icon4s: You cannot get to the semi-final of a competition and chose to change the set-up that has brought you that far. This is basic coaching rudiment. Na lie. Chelsea won the UEFA Champions league after they changed the tactics to park the bus against Barcelona and Bayern Munich. You can start with the set up but you must have plan B if it doesn't work. That level is beyond the rudiment of coaching. |

At the semi-final stage players are fielded based on how they had performed up till that moment in the tournament. So, Balogun didn't play well against Guinea? I don't think one match was enough to crucify Mikel and Balogun. |
