Collins... .....................Ndidi...........Etebo............ ...Kalu..................Iwobi.........................Musa........ ............................ Ighalo........ This is typical starting 11 of Rohr. |

charlesemeka85: Sometimes the way the names of certain players are been mentioned and echoed in this forum will make a newbie think that the mentioned players are the next big thing to come out of this country.
How on earth will someone suggest that azubuike okechukwu will take mikel's place in the afcon team? Mikel aside ndidi is the best midfielder we can boast of currently even at his age and have been in decent form for borough in the championship.
Rohr is not done with mikel and it will be his greatest undoing to ignore mikel's influence and experience for an over hyped okechukwu who is yet to achieve anything tangible since leaving 9ja for turkey.
Igbekeme who is doing very well in the Spanish 2nd tier is not even mentioned, mikel agu who have been decent so far or even resurgent Anderson esiti are good enough to be mentioned but all I see always here when when their is a compilation of possible names to thicken our midfield are names that have underperformed or flattered to deceive.
If okechukwu is as good as hyped in this forum always why haven't any decent Turkish club atleast take notice of him? The last time he ran to Egypt which was an awkward move for a young player who remaining in Europe should be his top priority.
Is azubuike okechukwu better than rijeka's Abdul zubairu who have courted interest from the likes of Ajax and aek athens? Is he better than Igbekeme who have been a revelation in the Spanish 2nd tier and have been linked with a possible move to a team in the Spanish top flight? His he better than mikel agu who have been consistent in the Portuguese league for the past 2 season out on loan from porto? This una hype Don dey begin irritate me I swear! Hehehe! I tire ooo. As you rightly said, there are better players ahead of Azubuike. The likes of Eze and Onomah should have been given a chance to prove themselves but Rohr no wan hear. Even Ramon Azeez team is the second on the Spanish second tier and he has been very consistent lately. Why must Azubuike be picked ahead of all these players doing better than him? Well, Mikel Obi must go to AFCON. |

Truidstar: Egbon, Na exam question you set so. My own opinion..... Onyekuru, Simon, Musa and Kalu. Based on Rohrs antecedents. He has used these players and they have fully integrated into the team ethos. Sadly this nations cup comes too early for Samuel Chukwueze. This should be Ahmed Musa's last tournament. He will be replaced by Samuel Chukwueze. Hahahaha! Na just small reasoning. Anyway, l think those questions raised will guide us to know Rohr's antecedents. Let us see what happens at the end of the day. Emmm! Point of correction, Ahmed Musa will still play for another 4 years based on his age. |

If we want to judge and select players based on CURRENT club performance then Samu should be number one on the list. Followed by Onyekuru, Ahmed, Simon and lastly Kalu(because he has not been playing games recently) in that particular order.
The simple truth is that he has contributed 10 goals this season in the best league in the world while others did it in lower leagues.
Now let us ask ourselves these critical questions in regards to national team settings and how Rohr could pick players.
Will Rohr drop Samuel Kalu who played a crucial part in qualifying us despite being the least in pecking order (based on club current form?
Will Rohr drop Ahmed Musa who happens to be the captain and current Nigeria best player?
Let me pass my verdict on these two players before proceeding to the next players. You can give yours anyway.
Let me state it clearly that these two players will never be dropped by Rohr except injury sets in.
Now, let us think about Onyekuru and Simon chances.
Who will Rohr choose among these three remaining players.
The factors that will determine this are:
1. Who is the better back up for Kalu(RW) and Ahmed (LW)?
2. Who has been tested and trusted by Rohr?
3. Who is more dynamic and versatile btw the three players?
4. Which player suites into Rohr's tactics (especially helping the defence)?
5. Which player has been given more chances by Rohr?
6. if Rohr has settled for Kalu and is still looking for a left footer on the RW. |

KwoiZabo: I don't blame Tinubu, I blame people like the writer (who are so many with us here in Lagos) for making Tinubu Powerful. Another thing that makes tinubu powerful is that many Yorubas think/know that if Tinubu's dynasty fails, it will open Lagos political space and allow "non-indigenes" to have a greater say in Lagos politics, so Tinubu is a rallying point. Talking about, IGR and development, Lagos has performed averagely. I can count 10 stets that has performed better than Lagos since the return to democracy. Lagos is the dirtiest state, has the worst roads etc the only thing that works for lagos and makes its IGR high is (1) Its location, (2) its the defunct capital of the country - FG left massive infrastructure like Ports (Sea & Air), Bridges (3rd Mainland etc), Stadiums, National theatre, Housing Estates, Buildings (braod street) etc. No state can boast of all these. (3) Security - I must give this to the yorubas, they are Peaceful unlike the North and NigerDelta.
Tinubu's Dynasty will end very soon - latest2027 Which states are doing better than Lagos? |

edi287: True but Onyekuru like Musa is a wide forward unlike Samu, Simon and Kalu who are wingers. Different roles. Unless Rohr is content with taking just Musa as a wide forward. All these players are considered wingers in the eyes of Rohr and he plays them in the wings he feels is best for his 4-4-2 formation. If he considers to switch formation to 3 at the back, then we can figure who will make his team. |

edi287: Onyekuru is not getting dropped for Samu. They have different profiles. Samu will be competing with Moses Simon and Samuel Kalu for a place. I'd prefer if Samu played at the Afcon. Let's not act like the gap in quality between Simon, Kalu and Samu is that large (if any sef tbh). If Samu is playing for the U20, it'll be/should be because Rohr is doing that fraud of a coach called Aigbogun a favor. I think Ahmed, Kalu and Simon are the ones competing for the LW because Samu and Kalu are RWs. Though I noticed Rohr tried Ahmed Musa and Onyekuru on the RW. |

His impact against major teams have been average at best. It's not only about goals, it's about the impact he made in those games. I saw some of those games and he was praised despite loosing the game. |

tbaba1234: Samu offers something that simply does not exist in the super eagles right now. Natural left footed attacking players offer something different.
When Onyekuru, Musa and Kalu trouble the Barca defence in a competitive game, we can talk about upgrade. Those players are not obviously better. Haba! Musa has played in the UEFA champions League for a decade against best clubs in top leagues. Please, let us give him that little respect. However, I don't mind Rohr takes Chukwueze to the AFCON because his stats this season in the la Liga speaks for him but I doubt Rohr will drop players that contributed to the qualifiers for him. Honestly speaking, he deserves to go to the AFCON. |

Because they have seen the potential of Mbappe and guess what the teenagers contribution helped France become world champions. We should be playing players based on current form not based on what they have done. Rsshford today starts ahead of Callum Wilson. To me oo Chukwueze will be our joker going to the AFCON any player who isn't in form should be dropped. Dude play both as RWB and a RW with a left foot. Very scarce entity with Messi and Robben with a better left foot.
