Just seeing this.. I actually meant to say AM not CMF. we talking #10 now

Good. So Yannis Anastasiou deployed Ajagun at RM, although he never played Ajagun there for an entire season at Roda. Why did the coach do that? It's not only got to do with versatility, but also the strengths of a different set of teammates. Also buttresses my point. Did Ajagun need 4 to 5 games to adjust back to a RM? What's the big different between RW and RM? A midfielder who is offensive minded can play as an AM (Attacking midfielder)

A versatile player is versatile.. How long did Victor Moses need to adjust to a wing back? grin

But you would have said VicMo is not a wing back prior to then, just because of what you saw on transfermarkt. My friend, listen to people who study players strengths.. don't just go by what one coach did.
Oga! Ajagun don dey play everywhere for field since he singlehandedly led Dolphin to win the league. He continued at Greece and Eredivise. grin

Why did Yannis-Anastasiou deployed him in the RM position? It is because he has played him there before . Simple. grin
Meaning, he has been tried, tested and approved with a rubber stamp. GBAM! grin

Unlike, Joel Obi who has never been played as an AM in his whole career save one. grin

Abi, how many times did Joel Obi played as AMF over his career and when last? grin

If it's not necessarily about versatility then we should put Iheanacho on the LB position since he's left footed and since we need an urgent replacement. grin
He should have come in for Echiejile immediately he got injured. Don't you think so? grin

The point still remains that Ajagun is versatile and he continues to play in various positions regularly from season to seasons unlike Joel Obi who never played the AMF for 7 years. I am not saying he should not be tried but I am saying you don't just assume he can without been tested prior to the world Cup. grin

Point of correction, Vicmo is not playing as a wing back in Chelsea, he has so far played as the RM. grin

No bi transfermarkt or Google you take know Ajagun played for the same coach because you were never aware? grin

We need to strengthen our back-line with good back-ups who will compete for starting Shirts.

Modified:In 2014 France came-up with a plan after watching our previous game, which was to pay "special attention" to Onazi. When Onazi got injured there was no capable replacement for him, which cost us a quarter-final finish.
Ramon Azeez could have easily replaced him but the coach thought na strength and power dem dey take play ball hence the reason he brought in Gabriel wey no play ball for a whole season. Smh

Sone Aluko has been playing as an AM sometimes SS and even on the wing occasionally. If he wanted to play in the EPL he would be in Brighton and Hove or Newcastle. Furthermore Fulham narrowly missed the premiership play off battle with a dubious penalty.

His quality is not in doubt I believe that the under handed powers on the NFF have decided to exclude him.

Belgium is not in the top 5 but placed 8 and my opinion is that most of thier teams are on the same competitive level of the championship in England.

Put Ajagun into the Championship and he will be lost but put Onazi and he will stand out. The Championship Haa different demands on player ability.
Abdul Ajagun has played regularly for the biggest club in Greece and he has never been benched since he left for the Eredivise and Belgium pro league.

How he will be lost in the Championship still beats my imagination.

You don't know anything about Ajagun. Chikena.

Let me throw this in.. Just want to give you an idea about how coaches make their decision. To start with, coaches have different winning philosophies and systems. They have preferred formations. And for a formation to do what it suppose to do players will have to have certain strengths.
You want to look at where the player played in the past, what was that coach's formation and philosophy, how the player contributed to it. And if that team succeeded. These are different variables. When the player moves to another club, most times he meets a new coach with a different philosophy or preferred formation, and different set of teammates with different qualities from the those he once had. Which is why often times players are deployed to a different position, also considering the other player's strengths in the team. However, this change are rarely made as regards some playing positions.
For example consider the former Ajax youth system. This is an excerpt from Edgar Davids interview I just stumbled across (take note of the bolded):

You started at Ajax as a left-winger and struggled. How did you make the transition to midfield?
Andrew Edmonds, via e-mail
Davids: I started as a left-winger and second striker: a No.10. What is different in the Ajax system for a midfielder is that they can attack and also defend, so it is maybe that you have the holding player on the outside who is always protecting or defending. That's the system. It was Louis van Gaal's idea to move my position. Marc Overmars started playing on the left and was really good, so he had to adapt the situation to where I played in the midfield. On the left wing I felt isolated, but in the middle I was more part of the game.

Did you read my post?
I said the coach must try him for at least 4 times before he can make any conclusion.

I am not convinced about Mikel Agu, he played only two games for his parent club Porto that's not a sign of outstanding quality.

He is currently in Turkey that's not a step up but down.

But then he makes it into the SE on what basis? Is he better than Aluko certainly not in my opinion, is he better than Tega Onomah ( currently the anchor of England U21 midfield) and or Seyi Ojo and Fred Onyedinma.
Meaning Tiago Ilori showed signs of outstanding quality to have played for Sporting Lisbon. Nice! grin

haha.. After Ajagun had played as a CMF for so long in Roda JC, where did Kortrijk deploy him immediately? Did the coach there just go by where he has been playing in Holland? I'm sure the coach could have looked at the stats like yourself and decided he would only play Ajagun as a CMF. Coaches consider other factors my friend.

Second question, Is Joel not very attack minded in a way that is typical of an AMF. He has it in him as well. Stop judging solely on what some coaches do with him. If you want to be good at analyzing don't focus on stats alone. Watch videos and study what the player brings to the team.
If you ask about Joel Obi ability in the AMF role 4-5 years ago, I will have to agree but now, I don't know until I see him play there.

I am conversant with Joel Obi.

I know where a player can play based on their attributes and strengths not just purely on where their clubs coaches play them. Coaches make decisions based on other factors as well. Statistically Joel Obi has played once as an AM..

Now let's get more practica. Watch Joel Obi's assist in our famous friendly win over Argentina. Was that not typical of a right winger? You guys talk as if football is that rigid.
If you are not playing regularly in a position you are used to for too long, bros you will find it hard to cope and gather yourself at first.

If the coach wants to play Joel Obi in the AMF position, he must play him there for at least 4 - 5 games then after that he can draw his conclusion.

Come to think of it, the formation deployed by a coach may alter the player's playing position. This positions are not as strict as some of you make it seem. Actually Joel Obi can play as any.
Joel Obi is a player I have been following since before he made his debut for Nigeria. That was when Italy wanted him.

So, I know he is a confirmed CMF, LM and sometimes he plays as a DMF.

In short, prior to his move to Torino, he was largely played as a side midfielder.

If the guy isn't doing well I understand.

Remember, he was mocked here when Panatiakos loaned him out when one yeye coach came from Italy.

They said if he's good enough why was he declared surplus to requirement? Why was he sent on loan to a lesser club? Even when I tried to explain that the coach didn't like him because prior to the coach employment Ajagun was the main man for the biggest club in Greece.

They kept insisting if he's good enough.

But when Guardiola declared Kelechi Iheanacho surplus to requirement, nobody talk say if he is good enough..... they rather rained curses on Guardiola and even tried to bring down Gabriel Jesus. grin

But now, in their very eyes Ajagun went to the Eredivise. When he was there you personally claimed he's good enough because you assumed he wasn't playing regularly until facts began to show your face.

When facts began to role for face, the story was no longer if he is good enough nor he's not playing regularly in the Eredivise but he's playing in a poor League. Bhuuuhahaha! grin

NFF To Meet With Liverpool Sensation Seyi Ojo Over Switch Of Allegiance To Nigeria
October 12, 2017085

https://i0.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/160417-082-Bournemouth_Liverpool-600x384.jpg

Top brass of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) will in the coming days arrive the United Kingdom for talks with on loan Liverpool and England U21 forward Seyi Ojo over a possible switch of allegiance to Nigeria.

Ojo was approached by Nigeria last year but the left footed ace turned down the approach from Nigeria, who were at that time offering him a chance to join their Olympic team for the Rio 2016 Olympic.

The forward asked for more time to mull over the issue as he was focused on establishing himself at Liverpool after several injury set back since he made the step up to the main team.

Presently out on loan to Fulham, the NFF are set to once again try for the forward who has flourished at Fulham and for the U21s of the English national team.

His international future alongside that of Tammy Abraham is still unclear according to England U21 manager Aidy Boothroyd, who admitted that the duo are among players targeted by Nigeria ahead of their campaign at the World Cup in Russia next year.

You do not need to lamely and childishly tackles another Person's Opinion simply to get Likes and Shares from the Bird of a Feather.

When Aiyenugba was plying his Trade in the Nigeria League, he won the Titles 4 Times, won Africa Champions League 2 Times as well as Africa Super Cup 2 Times.

Did he achieve these Feats by Luck?! What Ezenwa has achieved so far in the League as a Goalkeeper?! Seem you prefer Enyeama to be the No. 1 based on past Glory?!

Sentiment aside, Aiyenugba deserves to be the No. 1 based on the Present Form, if you get any contrary View - state and back it up with Facts. Knowledge has no Boundary, perhaps I can learn one or two things from any Point(s) instead singing a Lullaby.
Aiyenugba has been overlooked for long despite playing regularly for his team in Europe.

What is the criteria for choosing players into the SE team?

They said he fumbled against Guinea but if you ask them for evidence dem no go fit show am.

This is the same way they crucified Daniel Akpeyi for the 3 goals he conceeded against South Africa when we know he was never at fault.

Prior to the game against Guinea Aiyenugba kept clean sheets in 2 of our Africa nations cup qualifiers but dem no see those ones.

I see they waited for him to make the mistake because they don't want him in the team.

But how Aiyenugba was at fault for Siasia error still beats my imagination.

Siasia didn't do his homework well before he played that match because we could have qualified with just a win but they were searching for a goal at the dying minutes when we were already leading with two goals.

They left the defense and exposed Aiyenugba live and direct.

Some people who no sabi post think say to kick ball na anywhere belle face. grin
