It seems Rohr doesn't trust some of the players in the team but somehow he had to invite them. Why and how is what I don't know. That was why he said he was going to bring in better players |

jotey: Gernot Rohr plans new team for Russia 2018 World Cup
https://guardian.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/000_S1885.jpg
Algeria sacks coach
Super Eagles ’ Technical Manager, Gernot Rohr has revealed his plans to build a formidable team before the Russia 2018 World Cup .
The coach believes some of the current players in the Super Eagles are not the materials he would rely on for a successful campaign in the World Cup finals in Russia, adding that he has the ambition of surpassing Nigeria ’s previous performance in the event .
Although the 64 - year - old Franco - German was delighted at the Eagles ’ qualification for the global showpiece, he said the team needed a major surgery before the FIFA World Cup finals. “ Players in the mould of Zinedine Zidane and Thiery Henry , who once played under me , are the calibre of stars I would want in the Super Eagles to execute the World Cup finals in Russia,” Rohr said .
Insisting that he has not yet assembled his choice World Cup team , Rohr was emphatic that he would parade his best players in the group final game against Algeria in Constantine on November 6 .
Remarkably, Nigeria is making her sixth FIFA World Cup appearance since its debut in USA ‘94 . The Eagles were at France ‘ 98 , Japan / Korea 2002, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014 .
Sources close to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said the German is expected to disclose to the federation his World Cup programme before he travels to Europe . These will include plans for grade A friendlies and training tours to prepare the players for the Russia 2018 World Cup campaign.
Meanwhile, Algeria has parted ways with their manager , Lucas Alcaraz following the team’s elimination from the race to Russia .
Superdeporte.es reports that the coach, who has a win record of one in four games since taking over from George Leekens when the Belgian resigned in February , has already returned to Spain.
Algeria are out of the race to qualify for the World Cup after picking up just one point in five games , in a group where they were viewed as favourite to qualify when the draws were made . They lost 0 - 2 to Cameroon at the weekend .
It has been a disastrous campaign for them as Alcaraz only took charge of the team in April following the resignation of Leekens in February before their reverse tie against Nigeria .
They are now searching for their fifth coach in just over a year since the start of the qualifiers for the World Cup 2018, where they are rooted to the bottom of group B .

jotey: Don’t accept Tammy Abraham in Eagles, Adelabu tells NFF
https://guardian.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/tammy-abraham.jpg
Tammy Abraham allegedly confirmed two days ago that talks were on- going with Nigeria shortly after scoring for England
Former Green Eagles winger , Adegoke Adelabu has advised the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) not to listen to England U- 21 forward , Tammy Abraham , following reports that he has dropped another hint as regards his interest in switching allegiance to Nigeria after Super Eagles ’ qualification for Russia 2018 World Cup .
During preparation for the Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifier against Zambia, NFF president, Amaju Pinnick claimed that Chelsea striker Abraham, who is on loan at Swansea , had committed to declaring for Nigeria .
However , the 19 - year - old Abraham quickly distanced himself from the claims.
Now according to latest reports , Abraham allegedly confirmed two days ago that talks were on - going with Nigeria shortly after scoring for England U- 21 in their 3 - 1 win over Scotland . For Adelabu , the latest turn around by Abraham should not be taken serious by the NFF.
“ Tammy should stay away from our national team. I want the NFF to use him as an example to other junior players, who feel that without them , Nigerian football won ’ t go anywhere . Tammy has just realized that he might not be part of England ’ s squad to the World Cup in Russia , so he can quickly make a u- turn to Nigeria. No way .
The NFF must not listen to him. We have enough players good to win the World Cup if only the team is well prepared .” According to the report , Abraham, who has been ever present for the U- 21 s of England that are top of their Euro 2019 qualifying group, liked and commented on a video posted by Alex Iwobi on Instagram.

Mickael2: one by one.
How is throwing Agu in before Ogu and Etebo a sign of tactical knowhow? It's a clear case of favouritism(in Forgiveness' voice). That is even more reason why we have to agree that he is limited tactically.
How is what Bassogog said relevant? They thought we would come out to play football because Nigeria over the ages can never start playing a defensive game because of Cameroon. Meanwhile it was only Bassagog that came out to say something like that, no doubt to save his own face after an abysmal showing, that was not a tactical move by Rohr one bit.
And when the opponents came with an equally strong tactics what did we do? Yeah we scored none and conceeded two Though it may be favourism for bringing in players you can't trust to use in games but believe me Mikel Agu was the best option available as at that time. Read my post up there. |

Mickael2: i thought I was the only that saw it. A brilliant coach whilst sitting down on the touchline already knows how things can go wrong and how to sort it out but when Onazi was injured, Aina, Agu and even Ogu stood up and the coach didn't even know who was going to come into the game and there was a period he looked back and I think it was one of his nigerian assistants that said let's put Agu and we saw just how great that idea was. Rohr is not a tactician, Keshi, Siasia, Amuneke and even John Obuh would outclass him tactically, not to mention Westerhof First of all, we need to know the position Onazi played before he was injured and who should replace him in that position. Onazi Ogenyi was the CMF and also played the box to box role while Ndidi played in the DMF role. Who was the natural and perfect replacement available for that role? John Ogu and no one else because he was the only natural CMF on the bench. However, John Ogu coming in as a direct replacement for Onazi would have been a very bad choice. 1. He is slow and we already have another slow player in the mold of Mikel Obi on the field. 2. He is only offensive and his defensive ability is poor compared to Onazi. 3. His tackling ability is not as good as Onazi hence the need to bring some one who can defend, tackle and do the dirty job in the midfield. In regards to the obvious reasons stated above, it would have been unwise to bring in John Ogu. Bringing in Aina for Shehu Abdullahi to move to the DMF position is a big gamble and is equally out of the equation. That was why bringing in Agu who is a natural DMF was the best option based on the options on the bench. What the coach did was to bring in Mikel Agu to Wilfred Ndidi' position and move Ndidi to the CMF position. It was very easy to decide like that based on the situation on ground. That's was why I wasn't not worried about Mikel Agu when he came in to replace Onazi. I even demonstrated that when many here panicked and kicked against him by saying 'make una no worry....'. |

Mujtahida: THROWBACK
It's like forgiveness has infected me with this foreign born virus. Safarigirl here's your boy(though it's old news but it gives us insight into what might be. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HOW ROHR CONVINCED ME TO DUMP BELGIUM FOR SUPER EAGLES-Dessers
Ifreke Inyang 3 months ago https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/CyrilDessers.jpg Cyril Dessers has revealed details of his conversation with Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, which convinced him to opt for Nigeria instead of Beligum.
Dessers says Rohr told him in clear teams to pledge his allegiance to Nigeria, if he wants to challenged the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa and Olanrewaju Kayode, for a spot in the national team.
The 22-year-old accepted the German tactician’s challenged and has already voiced his preference for the Eagles.
“Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa are the two undisputed men in my position, not forgetting Olarewaju Kayode who plays for Austria Wien. After them there’s a spot. I did had contact with the coach some few weeks back and he advise me to take a step higher. Hence my move to Utrecht to prove myself worthy of selection for Nigeria,” he told Sports/Football Magazine.
“I will be happy to play for either Nigeria or Belgium, but playing for Belgium is a little bit complicated, as all the strikers in front of me above 30 years and might all leave in the next three years, I would have been patient for an opportunity, but that is not the case.
“The World Cup 2018 is around the corner. If I score 20 goals for Utrecht and one of the strikers missed out through injury, I might have a chance. I hope my dream of wearing the Nigeria shirt draws near in few months time.”
Source:https://www.google.com.ng/amp/dailypost.ng/2017/07/04/rohr-convinced-dump-belgium-super-eagles-dessers/amp/ If Rohr doesn't give this boy a chance against Algeria then I know his case will turn out to be like Kenneth Otigba who openly pledged to play for Nigeria but was never given a chance. |

I will add to that Seyi Ojo Liverpool player on loan at Derby. I willl remind you that a £10 million transfer fee was rejected by Liverpool fc from Newcastle fc. What was Awoniyi's performance like last year in Eredivise?
The question is who is ahead not who is older.. I think it is clear If you want to use Awoniyi's performance to argue Dessers is ahead, then I want to ask two questions. Which League is highly rated between the Belgium pro league and the Eredivise? Answer; Belgium pro league. What was Dessers performance like in his 3 years at a more better league than the Eredivise before he was relegated to the second tier of Eredivisie? The point is Awoniyi is in a more better league than he was last year, despite that his performance has improved. Peter Olayinka scored 19 goals with 7 assists two seasons ago. And he even played in the Europa. But last season he played mostly as a winger yet he scored 6 goals with 3 assists. How is Dessers ahead? Dennis Bonaventure just started is Football career last season yet he has done better this season than Dessers who started his career 6 years ago. |

But when we are comparing him with other players, he is ahead. Look at the players, you are
Awoniyi did not do well in his last two loan spells in the lower divisions but he is starting to show signs of improvement.
Olayinka could only manage 6 goals in Czech republic similar to Bonaventure who scored 6 in Ukraine.
Dessers currently is ahead of these guys in my estimation. Dessers is older than Awoniyi,, Peter Olayinka and Denis Bornadventure and they are also improving. In your estimation, is the Dutch second tier League better or higher than the German second tier League and the Dutch first tier League where Awoniyi played in the last seasons before coming to a better league? If Awoniyi wasn't doing well why did his coaches still played him regularly (Eredivisie)? |

soetanoreoluwa: LET PARTY BEGIN!!!
Nigeria: Who is on the plane to Russia?
12:43 PM WAT Colin Udoh, KweséESPN
After being paired with Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying 'Group of Death', the Super Eagles booked their place in Russia last weekend with a game to spare.
This leaves coach Gernot Rohr with more than enough time to start thinking about his squad for Russia, and to ensure proper planning wins the day for what will be a hectic year.
So, jumping the gun ever so slightly, and barring injuries and/or major loss of form, here is what the German's travelling squad could look like if departure for the finals was tonight.
BOARDING PASSES IN HAND
John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Moses Simon, Ogenyi Onazi, Wilfred Ndidi, Odion Ighalo, Elderson Echiejile, Shehu Abdullahi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ola Aina
These players are all but nailed on for seats on the plane. Captain Mikel Obi is the leader and undisputed engine-room of the team. The rest of the starting XI and some subs can also be confident of having their boarding passes in hand.
Ikechukwu Ezenwa may or may not be the starting goalkeeper, but he is guaranteed a place. At the back, William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun are shoo-ins, and fullbacks Elderson Echiejile and Shehu Abdullahi have also shown enough consistency to be first-choice picks, with Ola Aina as back-up for one or both.
Joining Mikel Obi as midfield certainties would be Ogenyi Onazi and Wilfred Ndidi, while Victor Moses locks down one wide forward spot, and Moses Simon and Alex Iwobi will alternate the other.
Up-front, Odion Ighalo and a Kelechi Iheanacho will alternate the lone striker position.
AT THE CHECK-IN COUNTER
John Ogu, Ahmed Musa, Anthony Nwakaeme, Kenneth Omeruo, Dele Ajiboye, Daniel Akpeyi, Dele Alampasu, Uche Agbo, Chidozie Awaziem, Oghenekaro Etebo, Mikel Agu, Tyronne Ebuehi, Aaron Samuel
Of this group, Ahmed Musa and Kenneth Omeruo are the most likely to make the squad, mostly for their international experience. But both will need to get games under their belt between now and when that plane is scheduled to take off.
Anthony Nwakaeme and Aaron Samuel will battle for one spot as fallback to the lead striker.
Tyronne Ebuehi is additional back-up for the full-backs, but will need more international games first and prove his value. There are two spots up for grabs for the trio of John Ogu, Mikel Agu and Oghenekaro Etebo to battle over.
Uche Agbo and Chidozie Awaziem might both just get in as back-up to the centre-backs, but their relative inexperience might mean only one gets in, especially if Omeruo picks up one spot.
Dele Ajiboye, Dele Alampasu and Daniel Akpeyi also have two out of three goalkeeping positions to fight over.
WAITING FOR THEIR TICKETS
Vincent Enyeama, Alhassan Ibrahim, Afeez Aremu, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Victor Osimhen, Kayode Olanrewaju, Henry Onyekuru, Kelechi Nwakali, Musa Mohammed, Anderson Esiti, Sone Aluko, Hope Akpan
If Vincent Enyeama makes a retirement U-turn, he would automatically upgrade to a boarding pass. And that could have consequences elsewhere.
Alhassan Ibrahim is proving himself within weeks of moving to Austria from Akwa United, while Afeez Aremu and Ifeanyi Ifeanyi could well be domestic league representation, but it will be tough.
Musa Mohammed has been a Rohr favourite but he needs games and consistency; the same as Osimhen, whose youth and inexperience could count against him.
Kayode Olanrewaju and Henry Onyekuru are potential party crashers who will keep Nwakaeme and Samuel on their toes.
Anderson Esiti is beasting in Belgium as a defensive/central midfielder, and Kelechi Nwakali -- who is in the same boat -- is showing he has the smarts to play as a creative midfielder.
Sone Aluko and Hope Akpan are wildcards who will have to play out of their skins to even get to the training camp. Both fail Rohr's twin tests of playing in a top league and being under 25.
Let the party begin!
http://kwese.espn.com/football/nigeria/story/3225334/nigeria-who-is-on-the-plane-to-russia What have Alhassan, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Kelechi Nwakali done better than Abdul Ajagun, Joel Obi and Raheem Lawal that they are in the picture but Abdul Ajagun, Joel Obi and Raheem Lawal are not in the picture? In short, only 75% of those who were part of the qualifiers should be retained. |
