The government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun has also undertaken a comprehensive overhaul of the education sector from primary to tertiary levels with emphasis on the provision of infrastructure and the development of science and technology as well as training and retraining of teachers as the bedrock of learning. Today, in Ogun state, education is free from primary to secondary level with the provisions of essential materials such as school uniforms , sandals, school bags, and text books to students without a single dime paid by them. Government is also rehabilitating and upgrading some of the schools in dilapidated condition. Government is also building 20 new model secondary schools with boarding facilities across the state from scratch and the schools will be fully equipped with science laboratories and modern facilities required in the 21st century learning. Also, in the last three and a half years, Amosun government has been paying WAEC and NECO fees for all students in public schools across the state. The government of Amosun is providing free medical treatment for children, pregnant women and aged people in the state. All existing health facilities in the state have been made functional for effective medical care to our people. Drugs and modern equipment are being provided in almost all the hospitals in the state. One can appreciate the modest effort of government to revive the lost glory of agriculture which was once the mainstay of the Nigerian economy. The government established a policy framework to revive agriculture by making it more attractive to young graduates. The moribund farm settlements are being revived to make them functional. Farmers are being encouraged to form co-operatives in order to attract loans from government. Improved seedlings are also distributed to farmers free. Many youths are now going into agriculture through the modest effort of the state government and this has reduced unemployment in the state. ![]() http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/03/09/ibikunle-amosun-on-a-mission-to-rebuild/ Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Imo etc are providing free education primary to secondary school level though Imo gives until University level. ![]() |
omofunaab:Hehehehe! Thanks Are those schools built from the scratch? Do you have any picture of the renders? Where is the one located in Ikenne local government? Will he finish them before his tenure expires? Where are the routes of the railway? The guy is not following OGD projects else the terminus would have been at the centre of the state which happens to be Iperu. Anyway, make we dey wait for the railway or metro rail. Is it mono rail or metro rail? Are you serious about the 60 story skyscraper? ![]() Waoh! I am really excited that he has started the project. This guy seems to be a silent worker. ![]() Have they finished piling? Can you please post the pictures of the site to ascertain the level of development? You can open a thread on that? Waoh! Two shopping malls in Ogun State. I think Ogun State needs more. ![]() What other projects are expected at the Abeokuta city centre apart from the 60 story skyscraper and the shopping mall? Amosun should focus on renewal of urban areas in Ogun State. There should be an urban master plan for Abeokuta, Ijebu ode, Shagamu, Ota, Agbara(I think it is a planned community), Iperu, Ode etc and transportation to Lagos. If truly he has plans for other places apart from Abeokuta, Shagamu - Ogere road should have been his priority but I think he is obsessed with developing Abeokuta. The next election will not be easy for his party in the Ijebu and Remo axies. Sorry for too much questions. I am just curious. ![]() Thanks |
asha9:I live in the East of the Niger, so I know the best cities across the Niger. Trust me, Onitsha na Oga compared to Aba but Aba is witnessing transformation now. Of course, Aba government is not doing as expected but this month, the guy just woke up from his slumber and started working on major roads Abians never plied for 20 years. ![]() |
omofunaab:I heard Amosun development is only focused on Abeokuta. Is it true? What is going on with the railway system? Is there anything on ground or is it another Elephant project? What about the Cargo airport in Iperu? Has he abandoned it for the one he is proposing to build in Abeokuta? Has he started the airport in Abeokuta? Is he still building the 63 stories in Abeokuta? What is happening to the CBD in Abeokuta? What is happening to the new Makun city project? Has he finished building all the new secondary schools? How is Abeokuta now? Sorry for asking to much questions. ![]() |
asha9:Aba is a well planned city than Onitsha but the infrastructures are left to decay. Nevertheless, the current government is showing signs of dedication to aggressively address the issues of bad roads and drainage by rigorously constructing world class roads in areas that the former governors never touched. If he continues, Onitsha and Awka will be left behind Aba. ![]() |
CFCman:Of course, if we are to co-host with Ghana, the final must be played in Nigeria. ![]() If we are to co-host with Ghana, cities like Abuja, Lagos, P/H, Calabar, Enugu, Kano, Ibadan and Uyo must be considered ahead of other cities because they have better amenities and facilities than other cities. Then, Accra, Kumasi and Cape coast will be considered for Ghana. But if we have to go alone, Jos, Abeokuta and Kaduna/Kastina/Warri/Owerri should be considered. ![]() Are you serious about that proposed Lekki stadium? I just saw the render but no article about it. If we go by what you are saying about the expansion of teams which could lead to the reduction of minimum stadium capacity then it's a game for us to do it alone. ![]() But is our government thinking about it? ![]() |
tsephanyah:Hehehehe! Really! *I am scared * ![]() That is why I said I like the way you freely express yourself. ![]() If being born a Fulani makes one a terrorist then am I partially a terrorist? ![]() |
36STATES:What is the use of spending money and leaving it to rot? That was what the FG did to Lagos, They left it to rot but Tinubu brought Lagos State out of the ruins and made it what it is today. Besides, which money is FG spending to shore up VI? Is FG the one sandfilling Eko Atlantic city? Some parts of Lagos was built by FG but definitely not Ikeja, Maryland, Anthony, Ilupeju, Lekki, Ikorodu, Badagry, Banana Island Ikoyi, Eko Atlantic city etc. Those places where built by the Western region government, individuals and Current Lagos State government. ![]() |
tsephanyah:Hmmm! If you're the one I am seeing in that pink and grey Ankara then I must say you are b........ . It seems you are Shuwa Arab, right? Pardon me. |
36STATES:Point of correction, FG didn't not build Ikeja GRA, all embassies, many estate, all stadiums, all roads, all government agencies, all hotels etc they were either built by the Western region government, individuals and foreigners. |
CFCman:Considering the huge sum of money the government has invested and is about to, on infrastructures recently. Especially, the constructions and renovations of 5 international airports and few local airports, Construction of new airport in Lekki Lagos, constructions of standard gauge railway across the country, building of new dams, Construction of Mono rails in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Calabar etc I expected the government to use this opportunity to host big events like the world cup or the Olympics to showcase our development to the world and recoup the funds extended in these investments but....... However, I think if we succeed in executing these projects or at least prove to FIFA that we are committed to these projects, we will have only few areas to address which are the stadiums. To host the world cup we need 12 stadiums with at least 40,000 seating capacity for the group stages to the quarter finals, at least 60,000 for the Semi-finals and 80,000 capacity for the final. But we only have one 60,000 capacity stadium in Abuja and two above 40,000 capacity in Jos (44,000) and Lagos(45,000). Though the National stadium Lagos has been abandoned for 12 years, It can be reconstructed or renovated to have 80,000 capacity. Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium is 38,000 capacity while Muhammadu Dikko stadium Kastina, MKO Abiola stadium Abeokuta and Tesilim Balogun stadium Lagos are 35,000 capacity. Good cities like Calabar, Kano and Kaduna only have stadiums with 16,000 while Enugu and Ibadan has stadiums with the capacity of 22,000 and 25,000 respectively. Akwa Ibom stadium seating capacity is just 30,000 and I think it can be adjusted to 40,000. What this means is that we have to build at least 5 stadiums in those 5 good cities, upgrade Lagos, Uyo, Port Harcourt stadiums to 80,000 and 40,000 and renovate Jos, Abuja and Tesilim Balogun stadiums to international standards. The remaining one stadium can be chosen from Abeokuta, Kastina or Warri provided they are able to fulfill the other criteria like standard of hotels, transportation and security. If we want to do it together with Ghana, I don't think it is a bad idea. But Ghana only has two stadiums with 40,000 capacity in Accra and Kumasi. Meaning they have to build 2 or 3 new stadiums. ![]() We will be contending with Canada if we want to host the world cup. ![]() I think this is a welcome development. But the sport minister we have no get vision. ![]() |
ikennaf1:Hehehehe! Lagos is far far far far far far far far far far far far far far ahead of Anambra for now. ![]() |
tsephanyah:Hehehehe! Only you can do that. ![]() Long time no see. ![]() I just like the way you freely express yourself. Welcome. ![]() |
