Umule community alone has at least one thousand 3 to 6 storey buildings. How many are in Ikorodu? Finally you saying Ikorodu has 20 Fastfood as a pride means you've not been to Aba. Chicken Republic alone is up to 10 not to talk of other ones you don't even know like Dominos, Bobby and Pinkberry. To me fastfood is just a measure of middle-class and eating culture not pointer to size or economy of a city. Aba is one of the largest cities in Nigeria and one of the largest economies too even though FG has been unkind to federal roads in the area.
Umule road opposite 7 deck? Oga, most of those building don't have access to water and inner street roads are bad. That's not development. Development is about good infrastructures and Ikorodu is ahead of Aba in this area.

Chicken republic upto 10? Why u dey lie like this, huh?

You go explain tire. No evidence

All these noise you mentioned are in within Ikorodu garage. Where are the Ikorodu industries?

Name them.

Where are the 20 in Ikorodu?

Ikorodu has two universities while Ikeja has none. Does it make Ikorodu more developed than Aba?

Aba has two indigenous power projects. One powering Ariaria and Geometric that will power the city 24/7

Because it's a village

Most of what they call estates in Ikorodu don't even qualify as one in Aba. Just buy two stoopid gates, hire a hungry man as gate man and you'll have an estate in Ikorodu

Name the roads in Ikorodu.

Not even a single one.

Only stunted bungalows full the city. Before you see only one storey building, you'll walk tire.

Two storey >> you will shed blood as tears

Three storey >> your legs will break

Four storey >> na only God go help you

Five storey >> you go die resurrect and still nothing

😂😂😂
Ikeja has college of Medicine, university of Lagos and Lagos city polytechnic. Olodo. grin

Rice mill na farm for ya eyes? grin Olodo. It's for processing of rice. grin

Aba no get estate. No better accommodation. Storey with no water. Person go carry water from 1k before em go claim staircase go 3 storey buildings. Chaiiii!

After all the descriptions I gave, you still believe I don't know Ikorodu.

If you are going to Ikorodu from Ogolonto, the BRT stand is at the right before the roundabout.

The road to the right leads to Sabo, while the road to the right leads to the Oba palace, a white mansion with black gate.

In front of the palace gate is KFC.

If you drive down, you'll approach the general hospital, INEC office inside the GRA and then Ebute.

You can connect to Igbogbo from that road or you can choose your right to get to Ogolonto.

The Oba of Igbogbo (Adeboruwa) is along Bola Ahmed road before Oreyo Grammar School.

Do you still think I don't Ikorodu?

😂😂😂

Ikorodu is a ghetto compared to Aba.

Part of it.

The biggest market in Ikorodu is Ladega and it's not up to the smallest market in Aba.

Yoruba travel, una say no.

Apart from dangote in Ebute, list other industries in Ikorodu. Aba is called the Japan of Africa for a reason.

There is only ONE three storey building if you drive from Igbogbo through Oriwu to Ikorodu.

Only one.

Where are the roads?

Ijede, Igbogbo, Baiyeku, Igbe, Lucky Fibre, Agric? Where are roads?

Ikorodu is a glorified village compared to Aba
Village has port, more industries, restaurants, malls, fastfood joints, banks, etc than the city Aba? grin

A big city with just 3 or 4 fast food restaurants. Kilimanjaro, Crunchies, Apples, etc. grin Ikorodu has more than 20

No shingbin shopping mall.

Aba with 1 small university and 1 small polytechnic. Covenant polytechnic has relocated to Owerrita. While Ikorodu has 2 big universities.

The other guy the mention power plant but he is not aware Egbin terminal power station in Ikorodu is the largest power plant in Nigeria. grin

Rice mill even dey. grin

How many estate dey Aba? grin Apart from GRA, world bank, nothing dey but in Ikorodu dem too plenty.

Which road dey Aba, Faulks road, omuma, Azikiwe, Aba- Owerri wey Abia poly dey? grin Ogbor hill. Ikorodu has better roads and even inner roads. Something you can only see in GRA. grin

Dey deceive yourself. No 5 storey in Ikorodu. I don tell you say, you no sabi Ikorodu. Na pass you just dey pass.

Are you sure you've even smelt Umuahia not to talk of Aba? Take it easy with the cap. Aba is a city of 5 LGAs while Ikorodu is just 1 LGA so you might want to compare Ikorodu with Osisioma LGA not Aba as a whole. Osisioma is more developed and has more industries and SMEs than Ikorodu. Check Ariaria Market, Umuehilegbi industrial cluster, Osisioma industrial cluster, Geometric power and a host of other industries at Umuchichi and Umuaduru. Osisioma alone can pass for a city by Nigerian standard.
Is it not the same Aba? Wey no shopping mall, no big university, etc?

Ikorodu is far bigger than Aba and far more developed.

This is just Osisioma, not even inside Aba. I wonder how our Yoruba brothers believe that Ikorodu with zero four storey building is more developed than Aba.

Apart from that Fashola Estate around Makoli side in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, I have only seen just 1 three storey residential building in all of Ikorodu.
Ikorodu is more developed than Aba. Nothing dey Aba pass market. Once it is 8pm, you will hardly get a transportation and the whole street becomes empty.

The most beautiful part of Ikorodu is garage and it's what you want to compare Aba and Onitsha with? Fear God nah. The biggest market in Ikorodu is Ladega and it's not even up to the smallest market in Aba.

Ikorodu is not even more developed than Okigwe in Imo.

Apart from Ebutte, please name other places in Ikorodu with better road, Igbogbo? Ijede, Igbe? Baiyeku?

Ikorodu is the city with the worst roads I have ever seen.

Malumfashi is even more developed than Ikorodu.
Definitely, you have never been to Ikorodu. For me, I have lived almost a decade in Aba and I seldomly visit Ikorodu.

So, I can emphatically tell you Ikorodu is far more developed than Aba.

So, market na yardstick for development to you, abi? grin

Ikorodu has port, more industries, fastfood restaurants, estates, malls, hospitals, hotels, better schools, even better roads etc than Aba. The roads in Ikorodu is far better than Aba.

1. Lagos

Lagos city undoubtedly tops the list. It checks all the marks, and also scoring highest in each. The city is also home to Nigerian richest population. As a former FCT and British colony, making this list isn't surprising.

Cities in Lagos State alone will occupy the whole list. But to give other cities outside Lagos state a chance, we will stick to only Lagos. For instance, Surulere, a non-capital city in Lagos, beats at least two other cities that made this list.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZpKPC1bk00

2. Onitsha

Onitsha comes easy second to Lagos. It's the most built-up urban centre in Nigeria after Lagos and home to the largest market in Nigeria, and some of the best schools in the country. Quality of housing is top-notch, but the city can benefit from improving its sanitary infrastructure.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvQK6oRLGfE&pp=ygUWYWVyaWFsIHZpZXcgb2Ygb25pdHNoYQ%3D%3D

3. Zaria

The only ancient and historic town that made this list. Zaria is a city that is surrounded by hills, giving it a breathtaking look. This city houses several military formations, making it a heavily fortified town. Besides Lagos, I don't think any other city in this list can rival Zaria in quality of roads. It also offers large scale commercial activities and access to world-class schools.

It's actually my favorite in this list.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBMYGbRDsAM&pp=ygUUYWVyaWFsIHZpZXcgb2YgemFyaWE%3D

4. Aba

Aba didn't make this list by mistake. The quality of housing in this city is over the roof, only behind Lagos and Onitsha. It also the only city in this list that's almost at the verge of achieving 24/7 power supply. Large scale commercial activities are also present. However, the city can do better with its bad roads, which is the worst for cities in this list.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWX-cruI6fU&pp=ygUSYWVyaWFsIHZpZXcgb2YgYWJh

5. Warri

I am split between choosing Nnewi or Warri, both of who deserves the spot. Despite being home to the highest number of billionaires per capita, record number of indigenous companies and large scale economic activities, I still believe that Warri beats Nnewi. The city offers access to more quality roads and pre-tertiary institutions. It's also the only city in this list with a functional airport, though, Lagos is on the verge of getting one.

However, Warri should work on its security.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWX5DA01UaM&pp=ygUUYWVyaWFsIHZpZXcgb2Ygd2Fycmk%3D

Worthy Mentions

Though they didn't make the list, we cant just ignore them. These are cities, towns, and villages you should look out for.

Nnewi

Nnewi tops my worthy mentions. It missed the main list by a whisker.

Ikot Ikpene
You won't want to leave after visiting this town. Akwa Ibom government finished work here. It's a place to be.

Bonny Island
it won't be fair to conclude this list without mentioning Bonny. It's not actually a city, but still made my worthy mention.

Agbara
I actually considered this town for the main list due to its industrialisation. But the quality of road and housing costs it a place in the main list. They could do better.

Abiriba

Abiriba is neither a city nor town, but a village in Abia. But when you visit, you'll understand why it made this worthy mention. It's the most beautiful village in Nigeria and I think that's enough to earn it a place here.
Sagamu, Sango-Ota, Ijebu Ode, Epe, Ondo are more developed than Abiriba, Agbara, Ikot Ikpene, Nnewi, fact.

I have been to all the aforementioned places save Abiriba.

State capitals receive most of the attention in Nigeria.

But some non-capital cities are also holding their ground strongly, giving most of these capitals a run for their money. Come along as I unveil the top 5 most developed non-capital cities in Nigeria. Vetting criteria is based on:

- Quality of residential housing

- Access to world-class pre-tertiary schools

- Large scale commercial activities

- Good roads.
Going by your criteria, my number 1 to 10 are;

1. Eko (Lagos Island, Ikoyi, V/I, Banana Island, Apapa, Surulere, Yaba, Eko Atlantic etc) is arguably the most developed non capital city of all.

2. Lekki. Many confuse Lekki to be part of Eko but it is a different city entirely. It's arguably the second most developed non capital city in Nigeria.

3 Warri comes 3rd. It's the defacto capital of Delta state. It is a city on its own. World class housing estates, large scale commercial activities (I think this has reduced due to kidnapping), airport, port, world class hotels, etc

4. Ikorodu. My friend, this is a city on its own. It ticks all the criteria on your list. Quality residential housing, large scale commercial activities, pre-tertiary and tertiary schools, port, sport facilities etc.

To be continued....

OTA can't replace any in the the top 5.

Maybe it deserves a place in the worthy mention, but it can't still displace anyone.

The worthy mentions are cities, towns, or villages with something Unique

Nnewi (worthy mention with the highest commercial activity)

Ikot Ekpene (Quality of roads)

Bonny (it's an Island with high scale industrial activities)

Agbara (the most industrialised)

Abiriba (most beautiful village)

So, where does Ota come in?
Lekki comes second after Eko.

Enemyofpeace:
This is Lukman Gbadegesin…. The prince chosen by Oyomesi. Governor Makinde rejected him. He said the process was flawed and manipulated to favor him. He insisted on a new process free and fair…. Before we talk about him, let’s talk about his grandfather

His grandfather was king Belo Gbadegesin. He worked with the British to build a Fulani Yoruba alliance which the homegrown Yoruba nationalists at the time led by Awolowo rejected.

Belo detested anything Yoruba tradition. He refused to live in the old palace and built a new one with a mosque in the compound…. He stayed away from cultural activities and redefined the position of the Alaafin as a custodian of tradition.

King Belo disliked the sage for rejecting friendship with the North. When Akintola eventually worked with them to get the sage out of the way, he honored him by conferring to him the tile of Aare Ona Kakanfo…

Among his wives… and offsprings…. Let’s save that for another day to avoid gaslighting.

Fast forward…. His son Lukman Gbadegesin…. A chip off the old block…..totally dissociated from anything tradition at Oyo. He grew up at Sokoto… under the guidance of Arab/Fulani scholars.

Politically, Lukman Gbadegesin identifies with Northern interest. He used these connections to lobby for the throne…. The Bashorun along with a few clerics working with the North worked day and night to make sure he got the throne…. Details of this too sensitive to discuss on Twitter.

But for Makinde, he would be Alaafin today and the great throne of Oyo would be an extension of Sokoto Caliphate.

Oyo is the symbol of Fulani resistance. Ancient kings suffered many humiliations to preserve the throne. When Alaafin Amodo rejected Sokoto, his kingdom was invaded and the Alapini shrine looted. All the Egungun dresses were carried away along with all the young single women at Oyo.

Alaafin Oluewu was taken to Ilorin as a prisoner after he was captured at the Eleduwe war of 1835, tried and openly executed for rejecting to surrender Oyo to Ilorin and Gwandu.

Atiba moved the capital to preserve the kingdom, rather than watch it fall into the hands of Emir Shita of Ilorin.

What they could not do through war… they are trying to do through peace.

Yoruba autonomy should never be compromised or surrendered to alien influence, not even in the name of religion.

- Gbonka Ebiri
Point of correction. Oluewu was never captured and executed in Ilorin. He died fighting in Eleduwe war. In fact, he already won the war but unfortunately they kept pursuing the Fulani against the initial plan and was eventually ambushed and killed.

Most developed cities rating of Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana are

1. Lagos/Eko (Lagos Island, Ikoyi, V/I, Surulere, Eko Atlantic, Yaba etc). Biggest economy in Africa, better infrastructure (road, railway, mono rail, bridges, transportation system, flyovers, airport, seaports, water transportation, financial institutions, law enforcement agencies, education system, sewage system, governmental system, healthcare system, water system, telecommunication networks etc. Lagos beat all other contenders.

2. Nairobi comes second because it's the financial hub of East Africa and it has better infrastructures than Accra.

3. Accra is arguably a very beautiful city with amazing architectural buildings. The law enforcement agencies and governmental system is way above Abuja though Abuja has some better infrastructures.

4. Abuja. To be candid. Abuja has better infrastructures than Nairobi and Accra though have edge over Abuja because of financial development, hospitality, commerce and other sectors. However, Abuja has better roads, bridges, flyovers, railway, light rail, drainage system, etc than Accra and Nairobi.

5. Port Harcourt comes 5th. I think I must agree it's more developed than Ikeja because of holistic factors. Though Ikeja is very developed and has industries. Computer village alone generates billions of dollars yearly but I think Port Harcourt with seaport, international and local airports, 2 oil refineries, NLNG, infrastructures (especially roads, flyover and bridges) is ahead of Ikeja. Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited is the largest producer of glandular urea in sub sahara Africa.

6. Ikeja is a industrial city and economic hub of Lagos state. It is also the Capital of Lagos state. It host the computer village of west Africa. It has railway, light rail, brt system, airports (local and international), etc. Definitely ahead of Mombasa and Kumasi.

7. Lekki. This is the fastest growing city in Africa. It host world class facilities and bustling real estate market. It has seaport, largest refinery in Africa, large mails, free trade zone, commercial centers, tourist attractions, beaches, fertilizer plant etc it's definitely more developed than Kumasi and Mombasa.
