manie: well said boss. Whoever listens to all those predictions listens at their own peril. It's pure comedy to me that someone will give me a particular month to invest my money. You see UBA selling at N3, a price that is close to its 52 week low with P/E ratio of about 2 times forward earnings and interim dividend yield of 6% and someone is telling me that I should not invest now, I should wait for November. That statement must be the greatest joke of the year. |
Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by FranklinRich: 4:25pm On Sep 14, 2015 |
jamace: Na wa oo really. After all the low prices that have been quoted here and the "sell and buy in November" mantra; tone and body language don dey change. Well that's what makes the market tick. Just when you think you want to game the market, it will pull a fast one on you. Me and my household are still in accumulation mode...still watching Flourmills!!!! |

PETERiCHY: The question is did you know that the market will lose 3% today? Did anyone expect the news from JP Morgan yesterday. This news would have come in at any time and you never know what the reaction of investors will be. You state figures and dates like you own the market. Give me a break men. You are beginning to sound like a broken record...Oga Peterichy, you can sell and leave people alone. Everyone has heard what you said, the market is on the verge of collapsing!!! Thanks for your advise 3 Likes |

Kai!!! Una funny no be small. The prophecies here are intriguing. If I remember clearly, when UBA was going up, we heard all manner of price quotes that it was going to meet zenith's price and it will hit N10 in 12 months time. Now that the market is falling, suddenly UBA's price is going to N1.60 or Na N2 sef Na wa really!!!!! |

myjoy08: Interesting times ahead. I can't wait to see how this all plays out especially from the FX perspective. If this leads to another bear run in the markets, I Will be waiting for Flourmills at a sub N20 price level. |

Born2berich: Well I think some stocks are overvalued and others are undervalued or rather they will get undervalued as their prices continue to decline. Afriprud for one is almost touching N2, this is a stock that it's interim dividend yield was more than most blue chip full year dividend yield. I see no reason why I should not buy it at around N2, knowing that at this price, i can still get a full year dividend yield of close to 10%. Add that to its interim dividend and that adds to some okay returns. Capital appreciation might not come now but in the fullness of time, it will. 2 Likes |

Agbalowomeri: Great news!! I have been waiting for this since so the market can bottom up faster. I expect other blue chips to join and bring the all share index to its support level faster. Bank stock prices might take a back seat while Dangcem leads the Bears to its kneels. Interesting times ahead!!! |

Elai147: Hehehehe till then sha. Unfortunately I dnt know how to time the market like the gurus in the house. I enter stocks at prices that seem fair to me when I do my valuation; sometimes I am wrong and other times I am right but one thing I know is that in 12 months time, I will look back and say I made the best choice. 3 Likes |

emmatok: Access at N2 will have a forward P/E of about 1 time earnings after factoring in their rights issue that will listed later in the year. I honestly don't see how this would happen even though Mr Market has the final say. I am no prophet but most of the bank stock prices are close to their bottom. I dnt really see a more than 20% downside from their current prices. 2 Likes |

Yem0350: Na when prices don fall finish Na em you wan dey quote your prices. In my opinion, the harm has already been done, so anyone entering Fbnh, zenith and access at these price levels will experience less downside than people that entered weeks back. Worst case the prices will just keep oscillating around this price level. Fast moving consumer companies stock prices are the ones that even really need to come down if you ask me. Their valuations are just not as attractive as the banks and their results have been anything but exciting. |

WTI is a few cents away from its 52 week low and Brent crude is about $2 away from its 52 week low. Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by FranklinRich: 3:10pm On Aug 04, 2015 |
PETERiCHY: Chai...always good to use any opportunity while it lasts. The appreciation we saw for the last few days was more like a knee jerk reaction to the CBNs capital control of closing the travelex window that assists banks convert their FCY cash to wired/electronic form. Due to the insurance risk associated with holding the $$ cash in the banks vaults and the low economic value associated with holding $$ in cash, the banks decided to stop accepting $$ in cash. Knowing how ingenious and entrepreneurial, Nigerians are, I know that some people have started figuring out how to take this $$ cash over the boarders to convert into electronic forms for onward wiring to various accounts. Once this is successfully achieved, Nigerian banks might not need the CBNs help with travelex and ala business continues for them. Curious to see what else the CBN has up its sleeves. Interesting times ahead!!! 2 Likes |

Elai147: Dnt mind Fbnh, anytime I think of Fbnh it reminds me of Nigeria, their subsequent years of mismanagement is gradually catching up with them. Such a great company with potentials continues to get things wrong and make mistakes after mistakes. Their ROE and ROA is nothing to write home about. They just keep eroding the shareholder value of their shareholders. I have no clue what due diligence Fbnh's risk management team did to approve the lending of $400m to Atlantic Energy, a company that had no history in the oil and gas industry expect for its affiliation to its promoters; kola aluko And Omokare. These guys are known to be lavish spenders in the oil and gas circles and how did Fbnh think they were the right people to loan money to. It is clear that their relationship to Dieziani was what pushed Fbnh to loan these funds out. After what happened to the seawulf loan and others, Fbnh would have been more careful. These and other loans are a big drag on their oil and gas loan book. I truly hope they start getting things right like the GTBs and Zeniths instead of living in this self proclaimed la la land as the big elephant. 1 Like |
