Sulejmani: Hi Nairalanders, pls how much is the required tuition deposit for undergraduate degree at MUN? Your replies will be very much appreciated. Congratulations on your admission. I'll like to let you know that MUN undergraduate degree program don't have specified tuition deposit, students who pay upfront tuition fees do that on their risk/choice. Which student can always get a refund if application eventually got refused (GOD FORBID). So, you are expected to pay tuition fee 1 month prior to the start of classes. Good luck my MUNites colleague. |

Because as far as I'm concerned what we all know here is the first year tuition fees ,room and board should be for first year, most guys here got approved with it. jnyuwa02: "There is one case on this forum again that I have seen where an applicant completed the wrong amount on the column that asked for finances (you are suppose to fill out money you have for the entire years of your study). The applicant filled out only one year, which would seem to say he had not enough money. Yet the VO was able to go and look at the amount on his SOA and deduced that he had enough money for all his years of studies and granted him visa. @jnyuwa I don't quite catch what you mean by the BOLD. Do you mean on the cic form where we are asked how much is available for your stay in Canada, we should indicate the total amount of tuition fees for the entire years not for only the first year studies? I haven't come across such on this forum, many that were approved declared their first year tuition fees + living expenses(10,000CAD). Please enlighten the house on this, because I don't understand. |

HiredGames: Do MUN accept student copies of Transcript?
I thought the school was supposed to be the sender. Please illuminate me.
Thank you. Yes! They do. Your school can be the sender, but in this case you will have much to spend much time and money for you to request for your transcripts from the school and the period before your school sends it to MUN. On the other hand, you don't necessarily need to wait for your school to send your transcripts to MUN, you can send it yourself. What you have to do is walk into your academic administrative board request for your transcripts, pay your for student transcripts, once you get your transcripts make sure it is stampped by the school board and enclosed with the school OFFICAL sealed envelope. Send the transcripts to MUN using your school name as the sender, with your name as the principal applicant. I believe with this you are fine. All the best! |

Demills: Hello Everyone.
Am a prospective Undergraduate student of Memorial University of Newfoundland,Canada.
Have submitted all the necessary supporting Documents to the School but having a problem with the English Language Proficiency Test Score since my TOEFL IBT Test Score was not up their minimuim required score.
Please can someone tell me what will be my fate if i will be admitted or not?
Please i need advice from those who have gone through such suituations both those in MUN present and those in naija.
THANKS and awaits your advices and answers. Hello my MUN colleague, Good to see you here! Firstly, what was your TOEFL IBT score? It's quite unfortunate that you didn't meet up to the English language proficiency requirement for Memorial University. , I don't know why MUN always find it difficult to waive this English requirement for applicants from Nigeria, but not withstanding you still have a chance to be admitted by MUN conditionally into your 4 years academic program and successful completion of an ESL program will be a pre-requisite to your enrollment into your academic program. To make it understandable in a lay man language, inorder to be admitted by MUN, you will have to register for an ESL program before you will be conditionally accepted into your academic program or better still, i'll advice you try IELTS TEST, I believe you will do better. Additionally, I also suggest you write to the Assistant registrar that the English requirement should be waived for you on the ground that you were thought throughout your high school education in English, hold on and wait for their response. I hope this information helps. All the best colleague! |

mamacajah: Okay, that confirms my suspicisions....
Now are you ready to take my advice? I will be very blunt and harsh but if you can take it as a point in the right direction, it will stir you up and help you get the desired result.
At this very moment, I am afraid to tell you that you are NOT ready to proceed to Canada for further studies. Infact, from the way you write and react each time you respond to people's feedback, almost makes me doubt the sincerity of your stories. There are just too many loop holes in them. If you had a former classmate who went to school in USA, why didn't you ask him/her how they did it before coming here? That response you gave was rather uncalled for and shows immaturity on your part(P.s:..you know what todo about that...hint.. when wrong, do the right thing and a.p.o.l.o.g.i.s.e...). and you don't know what aCGPA is? ok what was your GPA when you stopped school in year 3?
Now to the good part. You are still young, so what I would advise you is this. Take these last 2 months of the year and read up all the parts of travel to canada and canada student thread. If you can't do all, at least start from part 9. This will help you get a full picture of what the process is like, courses to take, when and how to apply for school admission and student visa, etc. EE is the Express entry process by which people migrate to canada without going through school route. however this process is for experienced graduates. Minimum requirement is 1 year work and post secondary qualification like a diploma, OND, HND, etc..(read up).
However, if you still insist on going to school immediately, then you need to apply to an undergraduate program and begin afresh. Read up to find out more on this. If you are looking for someone to spoon feed you, then by all means get an agent. They are many around, even on this forum, looking for easy targets..and you are almost making it very easy for them. But beware, a lot of people have been burnt using agents to the extent of getting 5 year bans that even affected their immigration plans.
But if you can read up, show some sign that you have done some research, then come back here and ask for specific questions. The family here will readily assist you. We all want our fellow country man to succeed but some of our people who have gone ahead ..have spoilt a lot of things which is now reflecting negatively on students applications from Nigeria now. We want to prevent that from continuing.
whew...that is all from me. Ciao! Well said! Newbies take note of this. |

jnyuwa02: You are absolutely correct. Sworn affidavit adds nothing to a person's profile. Anyone that used it and succeeded, it was not because of the sworn affidavit, it because the VO saw merits to his application. That said, been denied PR because of what was written in a SOP or affidavit makes no sense. The two relief forms are separate and apart and not meant to effect each other. Except in cases of misrepresentation, if you were banned for 5 years applying for visa and you run and apply for PR through EE, your ban carries over there too. No rest for the wicked, no hiding place for the transgressors.
But to be fair, the person said he was denied PGWP, not PR. There are numerous factors that can effect approval of PGWP. Like if you worked illegally more than 20 hours mandated by Canadian law, they could deny you relief when it comes to PGWP time. But even with PGWP, hardly do I see a correlation of denial because of what you have written in SOP swearing to return to your country. PGWP is only postgraduate work. You may still complete the PGWP and return back to your country. Nothing in conflict with your expressed intent of return initially in a SOP or affidavit. So that leads me to believe either this friend is lying or does not understand the real reason he was denied PGWP. I am reasonably confident it was not because of his SOP declaring that he will come back to his country! If this story is true, can he come here himself and ask and show evidence? Yes! I thought as much too. Well said Bro! Cc: OFFICALAEL, EJIZY. Take note! |

OFFICIALAEL: I don't mean to bring back the topic about using an affidavit of return during ones TRV application but my curiosity begs me to ask the house that, in the long run won't the document be a problem if one decides to apply for PR after he/she is done with studying in Canada Sir! As the gurus has advised previously, that submitting a sworn affidavit of your coming back to your home country after studies in Canada doesn't add anything to your profile, neither will it change the V.O mindset if they wants to deny visa. Well, it's a self decision, if you wish to go by that route fine. But mind you, I don't think taking a sworn affidavit that impose your return after studies will bring a negative outcome on your PR application in nearest future. Gurus your inputs will be highly appreciated. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Frankrobbn1: 11:24pm On Oct 25, 2017 |
EJIZY: You are correct, I have a friend in CANADA who wanted to extend his PGWP but was denied because he boldly stated in his SOP during his TRV application that he was returning after studies and all.Let’s be mindful of what we write so it doesn’t come back and hunt you in future. You guys are funny here I strongly doubt that it was what the fellow wrote on his SOP that made them deny him extension for PGWP. His refusal might come from other factors not his SOP. Every applicant is expected to convince the visa officer that you will return after your studies in Canada, that doesn't implies that when you get to Canada you can't apply for a PR because you once wrote a SO CALLED convinicing SOP before applying to study in Canada. Be guided Sir! |

OmalichaUC: Good afternoon family, I got denied yesterday the 2nd time.
Undergraduate degree - Communication and Language Art, Upper Division U.I M.A- Disability Studies, University of Manitoba. $5,400 CAD funding.
First Application 11th May, 2017 online route I submitted all documents including letter of employment and introduction letter from a private secondary school where I tutor disabled students. Sponsorship: Br - In-law with $34k CAD No personal assets cos I just finished NYSC Denial reasons: Purpose of visit, Travel history.
I ordered GCMS NOTES which questioned my reason for studying such a course in Canada bearing the high cost of relocation. Also that I have limited hometies: single with no child. I haven't traveled to Canada before.
Second Application 8th of September, 2017. Online route. Deferred my admission and I tackled GCMS NOTES by including my marriage certificate and change of name( Got married in June after my first application). Hubby's letter of employment, ID cards and pay slips including letter of consent. Sponsor paid $2000 part tuition. I submitted new letter of appointment and introduction letter from my new job here in lagos. No payslip and no personal assets. Got denied again 24th October. Reasons; Purpose of visit, employement prospect, current employment situation in country of residence and no personal assets.
I feel so bad to be honest. I tried all I could to address previous denial. All to no avail. I don't know how God gave me Masters admission with funding yet no visa to resume. I had already deferred admission from Fall to January Winter.
Pls I need your help family. Whether to let this go or to try again. If Canada doesn't want people to come and study they should stop offering high-hope admissions. It's seriously unfair. PhocusJosh and I applied with 2 days interval. We were both offered the same refusal at the same time with the same reasons. The correspondence letter appeared like automated messages to me. It's like it's the same VO who attended to us both. He didn't even scrutinize it thoroughly - just dished the messages out.
I'm sorry for the long post. It hurts though! What? OmalichaUC I'm very sorry to hear your visa got refused for the second time. I remember vividly when you told me you will be submitting and how best you have tackled your previous refusal. All hope is not lost dear, Be strong and have faith in God. I'll advice you try again for the very last time. Now, I can see that canadian visa is turning into a raffle draw game(Game of luck). Nevethless, God will see us through. Amen! Regards, Frank! |
