1- Please I'm going for an ESL program upon which I'll successfully enroll into my undergraduate degree program. please i want to know whether I'm to apply for a visitor visa for the ESl Program?

2- Can i convert my Visitor Visa to study permit in pursuit of my undergraduate studies While in Canada?

3- Also does anyone has any idea on what is SX-1 visa is?

Attached is the response I got from CIC website regarding to students that has conditional acceptance offer that after completion of ESL program can enroll into undergraduate program.

While a study permit is generally not required for short-term courses, students intending on attending a short-term prerequisite course should still be counseled to apply for a study permit before travelling to Canada.
In this scenario, a study permit or SX-1 visa should be issued only for the length of the prerequisite program of study. Once the prerequisite program has been completed, pursuant to
subparagraph R215(1)(f)(iii) , the temporary resident who has completed this course or program of study that is a prerequisite to their enrolling at a DLI may apply for a study permit from inside Canada.

Am a first timer on nairaland, but have been reading for some time now. I have tons of questions to ask, this is my first time applying for student visa to canada, i want to thru paper route.

I have been accepted to humber college for graduate certificate, Emergency telecommunication a semester (6months wit co-op) program. I graduated from unilag without 2:2 sociology,

I currently work at local airport, with 2 years experience, my job description also includes making nd receiving calls to several unit even including emergency calls, I want to know if d program I applied to is appropriate. with my work?

Is it ok that my sponsor is my step uncle but we do not share same surname? can I as well attach my statement of all my acct including pension acct which all is less than 1m? my take home is less than 80k, also intend to get intro letter from my work place, that am going for a study leave.

For educational document, I finished sec shl in 2004 wit d schl testimonial,but only had my waec result from anoda schl as external candidate in 2008,nd univ admission in 2008, do I have to explain d gap btw 2004 nd 2008 moreover do I have to submit d testimonial nd waec result from d both schls?. do I also include my univ statement of result because unilag do not give student transcript? is birth certificate necessary?

please how much is it to get police clearence certificate nd wot is the procedure?

Is OK to include in d form that one has a relative resident in Canada? because I have a distant uncle in Canada with a PR .

lastly the application for study made outside of Canada form(IMM 1294) seems not to open past page 1of 1 nd keeps loading without opening d remaining page on my lappy how do I go abt it? the questionnaire part am unable to fill it on line on my lappy, am I to print it out nd fill it by hand?

for d payment of visa application,can I pay myself or pay at vac.

pls nd pls help a first time applicant, I tried consultant, they seem expensive.

Firstly, You are welcome to nairaland forum. congratulations on your new admission.

You have 2 years working experience in Emergency and information(making calls) department in a local airport and you secured admission for Emergency telecommunications is okay.

But you have to provide a strong and convincing SOP(statement of purpose) stating why u studied Sociology during your studies in Nigeria and why you are going for graduate studies in emergency telecommunications. The visa officer might use this against you since the both course are not in any way related. I advice you construct a strong SOP telling the visa officer why you were going to study that course, please work on this.

This is the very important aspect you should look on. Using your step Uncle as a SPONSPOR is a good one. Your uncle needs to transfer at least your tuition fee and 10,000CAD Living expenses into your own personal account to prove commitment.

You have him provide a good bank statement with high inflow and outflow of money and also the available balance should be able to pay for your tuition + 10,000 CAD living expenses and also have some left for him & his family members.
it's also a welcome idea if you attach your bank statement. But I'll advice you transfer all your funds to one account, then print it out.

Yes! Attach a letter of introduction from workplace, if possible Attach your payslips for the last 6 months.

Please include your waec result, you can show not to include your testimonial since you didn't finish from same school.

Sure you should also add your university statement of result very important, don't necessarily need transcripts here, statement of result from university will go a long way.

Birth certificates is very vital here when it comes to immigration process. please include them.

police certificate you can get it at Alagbon Ikoyi Lagos, it cost 5 - 7k. You can get it within an hour or so. You should go with your international passport and passport photographs.

I'll advice not to indicate you have a family member that is a permanent residence in Canada, they might see it that you won't return back to your country after studies.

As for filling your form, my candid advice is to download a desktop version of acrobat reader. It will go through.

Questionnaires are filled with pen. You don't need computer in this aspect.

since you are going for paper route, you are to pay for visa fee at the VAC office(Embassy) before submission.

Wow! I have an email from them, although this was last year December or so. Nawa oh! I guess it's bye bye MUN.

I thought know why they are demanding proof of English proficiency from me. Asking me to send them either IELTS or TOEFL. well, u are looking you weren't asked to do such.

If you don't want to do courier wahala (17k no be beans), you can ask the records office to send your transcript via email, that's if your school is open to it. For English proficiency, the records office can also send a letter stating that you were taught in English. Hope this helps!!

I tried using that but they insisted I should send them IELTS or TOEFL

GTB mastercard now have a monthly limit of $1000. So you can now basically pay for all your Canadian applications including visa fee if you are yet to exceed the monthly $1000

I have sent an application to Memorial university, throughout the admin checklist I filled, I didn't see any option to upload my transcript and other supporting documents.

Is the application ok that way? Or should I send the transcript and other documents via mail attachment to them?

Am also having issues with the payment for admin processing(120 USD). My Zenith and UBA master card failed. I 've opened an account with GTB, still waiting for my card though.

An urgent and well informed advice is needed abeg.
The documents.

Hello my MUN brother, For your notice, memorial university don't accept scanned or mailed transcripts. Every supporting documents must be officially sent to the Registrar office through courier by the authorized body. It must be sealed and kept in closed Envelope.

As for the credit cards you mentioned above, GTB master card has a limit of 100$ per month and you are making payment of 120$. So you can see it doesn't fly.

It will be better if you use a dollar account to make your payment or better still ask anyone here to help you make payment.

please if I may ask you, Are you going for undergraduate program or postgraduate studies?

Bro did you use address in Canada or Nigeria.

There wasn't an input of address in the form brother. You have to order the GCMS note by making payment first before you will be asked to input your SURNAME, GIVEN NAMES, File number, Date of birth and Email address. After which you will get a successful message "THANKS FOR ORDERING".

An attached pre-filled form will be sent to your email address you provided during registration. You have to fill the form, sign it, scan and send it to them. You will get a reply from them in 1 working day.

I used my GTB master card and it went through,they charged me 23USD - 8357k.

I was asked to fill the form attached to my mail and send it back to them.

Yes you need to take along with u 2 passports and a photocopy of your international bio data page, together with your 28,050 Naira medical fee that's if u are going through children consultant practise at Ikoyi.
