@Frankrobbn1 and Justmellow. I submitted my application on the 19th June and got biometrics request 20th June. Is this normal or a red flag ?.

For me I believe it's too sudden.. Just one day
It's normal to receive a biometrics instructions letter within 24hrs of submitting your application.

I really don't know how to go about that WES OR ICAS because I am trying to apply for admission in the university of Conestoga Canada please can you flash me so I can call you to guide me on how to go about it Please
You don't require WES or ICAS for Conestiga College. A copy of your degree certificate, transcripts, intl passport bio data page and resume are sufficient.

Thanks alot for this value and support that you are rendering here sir. I am really grateful, i have another question.

I have been read this thread from page one and at page 24 or 25 i saw someone explaining that he got refused twice because he was using only LOE as his supporting doc, but he got the visa when he used LOE and SOP together. Please what is your opinion on this sir and would you recommend it sir.

Thanks and Stay blessed.
Letter of explanation (LOE) and Statement of Purpose (SOP) both represent same purpose. More often, applicants who have been denied a visa prefer using an LOE to address the concerns raised by the visa officer in their previous applications. Whilst, the SOP serves to address the applicant's intent to study the program in Canada, why the applicant chose the proposed school and the future career goals upon their return home.

It's very necessary to bring to your comprehension that when it comes to Canadian Immigration process, no two applications are the same. Each applicant case is unique and as such treated independently based on the visa officer's discretion and the information presented by the applicant. As the saying goes "Different strokes for different folks", what worked for Mr. A might not work for Mr. B. I will advise you leave your application simple and concise as possible. Your letter should focus more on explaining to the visa officer what you have done differently based on the concerns that were raised in the past application and how your situation has substantively changed.

I hope this information helps.

Hello gurus in the house,
I have a few questions about my application
1.Do I state the list of documents that I put in my application at the last page of my SOP
2.Do I have to add my academic awards gotten in university and online courses certificate to my application?
3)How do I go about uploading documents and submitting application on the ircc portal?
1. It's not compulsory to mention the list of documents you will be submitting with your application in the last page of your SOP.

2. Please include every professional certifications and volunteer awards you have gotten during your undergraduate studies and until this present time. It will demonstrate how prepared you're for your proposed program in Canada.

3. DETAILED LIST OF DOCUMENTS FOR STUDY VISA AND THEIR APPROPRIATE CATEGORIES FOR UPLOAD.

Your answer(s) may also help others quench their arousing curiosities.

Until then, I await your victory song.

Thanks brother for the best wishes and prayers.

Speaking on AIPP might be derailing the purpose this thread was originally created as only a few applicants know about this program in Nigeria. I have also shared my extensive experience on how I landed a job offer from a designated employer via the AIPP thread on Nairaland. I may have to channel prospective applicants to read through the thread and gather relevant information(s) that might be useful to them in the process.

I have lived in the UAE for the past 2year . i was on a employment visa working under a company but before my 2year contract finished i canceled the contract and tried to change company but my grace period of one month elapsed before i could get my visa and i had to overstay for a month and then my admission came along and i paid my fine and cleared all my overstay before i left the country. Please should i include this in my application and show the document for the paid fine. Please i need help from the gurus in the house.
aliadi2:
Please professionals i need help with my application.
You only overstayed your VISA to UAE which you eventually got renewed. Dubai is not considered as a good travel history in the Canadian Immigration officer's assessment. You don't need to provide proof that you paid any fine as you might be complicating things for yourself in your application. A scanned copy of your previous visas to the country and other countries will be fine. Also be truthful as possible in your application by mentioning all the visa refusals you had in any country.

Wow, that's really good. You should be proud of yourself considering that you competed with many people from around the world and within Canada for that position. People living in the Atlantic provinces struggle to get those AIPP jobs. I lived in NL for years and I don't even know how to help people from Nigeria and other provinces, except NL residents.
Good job man!
Thank boss for the compliments and best wishes. It was indeed a herculean task to find a designated employer that will be ready to sponsor a foreign National through the AIPP route. Almost all the employers I contacted turned down my request. However, my persistence and resilience towards achieving my goal was a no-brainer for me. Hello Mr frank,I have followed you for a very longtime on this platform and the students visa thread particularly and I really appreciate your efforts and consistency in answering people's questions with so much clearity and details Thank you for your all you do.

I'm a 25year old young lady, a SSCE holder and a catere/baker by training.I left secondary school in 2012 and went to a catering school immediately after my waec for 1year (2012-2013)after which I got admission into my state polytechnic to study hospitality and tourism which I studied for 2years (2013-2015OND) but at the end of my OND I discovered I had a fake admission, few months later I lost my father and it was really devastating for me,it took me about a year plus to get over my loss and move on after which I went for a BREAD BAKERY MANAGEMENT and ADVANCED CAKE training in lagos in 2017 after which I came back and started my business from home tho not registered,i later got a job to manage a bread bakery in 2 different states between 2018 and 2019.This year 2020 I decided to start my own mini bakery and outdoor catering business fully.I'm building up the business gradually but I really want to study in Canada and gain professional training in the BAKING and PASTRY ARTS MANAGEMENT programme, I have my eyes on centennial college and I think I meet all their requirements into the program. My main concern is with my chances of securing a study permit with the long break from school and not having a degree yet,I intend to apply by next year 2021 for the September class and I'm saving seriously to that effect tho I will get a sponsor. What would you advice me in this case? I chose Canada because I would like to continue my life there even after my studies also Canada will give me the type of knowledge and exposure I need to become a professional pastry chef as I desire. Please give me your unbiased advice and I'm sorry for the long post, I feel the details is necessary so you know how to advice me best.
I will be waiting for your response. Thank you
@Frankrobbn1
No apologies necessary for giving a detailed explanation of your profile.

From all what you have said, the onus is on you to convince the visa officer that you're in fact a bonafide student and if given a visa would study and depart from Canada after studies.

There is nothing unachievable when it comes to Canadian immigration. I have seen a matured applicant at the age of 51 in 2017 without any prior post secondary education and was approved of his visa to pursue a diploma program. Hence, getting an approval is also possible in your case once you can present your situation in a very justifiable manner yet professional way that would enable the visa officer see reasons about your clear intent to study and consequently grant you an entry to pursue your intended program in Canada.

Your SOP should do justice to the above points which you have raised in this post that hindered you from pursuing a post secondary education in Nigeria since you left High School in 2012. A written assurance that your study gaps in no way will affect your ability to study and graduate at the top of class. In order for your application to scale through and have a better prospect, I would advise that every statements in your SOP should be accompanied with an encyclopedia of evidence (proof of professional certifications in bakery, proof of previous work experiences and registered business to show you have acquired a practical experience in your intended program in the job market etc.).

Your explanation should be straight to the point, give clear answers about your situation and assemble a solid case by exposing your motives in a Humanitarian and Compassionate package to be reviewed by the immigration authorities at the Canadian embassy. You shouldn't sound too desperate to study in Canada, try as much as you can to explain to the visa officer the lucrativness and reasonableness of undertaking the program in Canada at a huge cost given that there are similar available options in Nigeria.

Lastly, your short and long term goals should be properly prepared in a very realistic way. More importantly, get a professional to review this letter in order to be sure you've adequately addressed every loopholes in the application.

Thanks for the compliments about me and I hope you utilize the advices given.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns about the subject matter, don't hesitate to reach out for professional assistance.

Good evening everyone,

Hope you are good?

I got an admission into Thompson Rivers University for a Post Baccalaureate diploma in Finance.

There is “Not Visa Purpose” written on the Conditional Acceptance Letter issued to me and that I will be issued with an Unconditional Acceptance Letter once I pay my fees (both Tuition and other fees).

My question is can I use such Conditional acceptance letter for study permit application processing?
In a situation like this, you're ought to pay the mandatory tuition deposit to the school prior to an unconditional acceptance will be issued. I wouldn't advise you to apply for a study visa with such conditional offer being that it has to do with funds and the primary requirements for a Canada Study Visa application is the ability to show that you have adequate financial resources to cover for your tuition and living expenses without working to pay for your fees. In consideration of the foregoing, it's better you pay the mandatory fees and apply with an unconditional offer.

Yeah been working hard at my job and at living, not had time to come here for over one year. My admission and full scholarship had to be cancelled by USASK due to the fact that I was not given a visa with my 2017 admission. I just took time off and did other things I enjoyed doing and reapplied again this year for admission and today I received the good news, they offered me admission and full scholarship again for September 2020. If any good news can come out of Covid 19, it is the fact that USASK is shut down and I am able to study online and graduate from Nigeria, as per the school's new policy, should I not be able to get a visa again. This will be more than fine with me and I am more than excited and know God used this covid 19 as bad as it is, to favor my predicaments. So I stopped by here to see what is going on in the house as I would be Canada bound. How are you @Frankrobbn1 and your visa application? It suprises me you are still here for ages. May God see you through.
God is great! I am super excited to hear your scholarship was reinstated by USASK after your visa refusal. As for me, I am doing great and had to switch my immigration path to AIPP (Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program) as I was fortunate to receive a job offer from a Canadian employer. I have completed the entire phase of the program including receiving my Provincial Endorsement/Nomination Certificate from the Newfoundland Government and signing written contracts with my employer. The current COVID-19 global pandemic has dispruted so many plans/activities including pending applications with IRCC. Therefore, I'm earnestly hoping and waiting to receive my Permanent Resident approval soonest. While waiting for the process to be completed, I do come around here during my leisure period to contribute my quota and continue making a remarkable impact in the lives of others considering that I have first hand experience about the process.

I understand you very well and I know that it wouldn't hurt to have a sponsor. However, the point I'm making is that the applicant has a strong advantage which many do not have. He shouldn't complicate his application by adding too many unnecessary documents. He should, instead, focus on where refusals can came from now: home ties, prospects, documentation.
Well, it's true that fully funded applicants have upper edge to other prospective applicants with no funding. With that being said, this doesn't guarantee 100% that the visa will be approved as I have seen applicants with full funding been rejected and end up losing their scholarships. The scholarship beneficiary must present his/her application in a very satisfactory manner that will convince the visa officer that he/she is indeed a genuine applicant with adequate economic and professional ties back home that could motivate their departure after studies. I trust the op will make the most of the advices given and put his application in a better prospect of getting an approval.

It can be paid through online via flywire corporation website and the current charges is between 355 and 360. The charges are radically high when using flywire. Alternatively, you can get someone in Canada to help complete the payment on your behalf at the rate of 295.

Contrary to what Frankrobbn has said, I'll tell you to only make sure you have some money in your account. Even N500,000 will be enough. Don't go and borrow money or look for sponsors when you already have funding. Getting a sponsor will complicate your application and indicate desperation. Borrowing money will attract question marks as to the source of lump deposits and your rationale.

If you already have up to or more than N500,000 in your account then you're good to go. If not, get a family member, friend or close associate to gift you the money and then explain that in your SOP. The VOs already know that applicants with funding will definitely find a means of leaving Nigeria. They are more concerned with what happens when you reach Canada and your funding answers that concern.

I've seen people who applied for fully funded thesis Masters and PhDs with only N100,000 in their accounts and they were approved. Don't complicate your rather straightforward study permit application. Focus more on home ties and prospects.

Ignore what I've written if what you have is PARTIAL FUNDING.
I beg to disagree with you in view of the bolded words. Please can you refer me to any sub-sections of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act of Canada where it was clearly stated that using a sponsor for fully funded applicants is an indication of desperation?

How do you explain desperation in the context of the Canadian immigration?

I can provide you verifiable evidence and various successful fully funded applicants on this thread that have used sponsors in their application and got approved.

The rest of your suggestions are valid.

4. Is it advisable to submit a letter and affidavit of support from my aunt in Canada stating that I will be living with her during the course of my study.

Thanks.
Yeah you can do that. Nonetheless, you must demonstrate you have significant ties (i.e economic and professional ties) back home that far outweighs the incentives of staying back in Canada after studies. Given that your aunt will be providing a letter to support your studies in Canada your reasons for coming back home must be well articulated and detailed to convince the visa officer that you're a bonafide student.

Good day house. I have some pertinent questions:

Regarding medicals:

I have an appointment for an upfront medical exam slated for 24th June at IOM Lagos. I have not yet submitted my study permit application but I plan to do so before the date for my medical exam.

My question

1. In the study permit questionnaire where it asks if I have done an IRCC approved medical exam; do I answer yes or no?

Regarding sponsorship:

2. Does my sponsor's bank statement have to be from mybankstatement or can it be a normal statement of account showing credit and debit for the last 6 months

3. Does the Affidavit of support have to be notarized in front of a notary public?

Thanks in advance.
Question 1 - You have to answer NO, because during the time of your application submission, you have not undergone any medical examination in the last 12 months.

Question 2 - Any of the two (MyBank Statement or the regular SOA) would work and its very much acceptable by IRCC. If possible, you could get the Mybank statement since it's something you can easily generate using your mobile banking app from your comfort zone without visiting the nearest bank branch office to obtain your financial statements.

Question 3 - Affidavit of Support is a legal document and as such must be duly signed and stamped by either a Notary Public Officer or Commissioner of OATHS. At this present time, the federal high court is yet to reopen in most cities in Nigeria. So, a notary public should be your best move to notarize the document.

hello, if one gets a fully funded scholarship to study in Canada, will proof of funds still be required and if yes, is it the same as those without fully funded scholarship?
Irrespective of your funding from the University, you need to show proof of funds for your flight itinerary and miscellaneous expenses which you might incur during the course of your studies in Canada. I always advice fully funded applicants to submit at least a bank statement with a closing balance of 1.5 to 2M. This amount is adequately enough in your visa application and it has worked for countless applicants. With that being said, if you don't have the stated figure in your account, you can get a sponsor with an available balance of 5M to cover those incidental expenses.

Please waste no time again. You can apply for your visa with the conditional acceptance you received from the school. I can barely count how many applicants I know that were successful with conditional acceptance letters. I don't see why you should be waiting until this moment before submitting your application.

Why doesn't the Australia student thread move as fast as Canada? Does Canada favour Nigerian students more or what?
Permit me to combat my intended point of view about the above matter. It is a well-known fact that Canada visa thread on Nairaland moves faster than Australian Student thread, this independently doesn't convey that there is leniency in visa issuance for Nigerian students travelling to Canada than Australia. Instead, It is as a result of the following shortlisted factors that influenced more applicants wanting to further their studies in Canada than Australia.

These deciding factors includes;

1. Canada tuition fees are way cheaper than Australia.
2. The chances of becoming a permanent resident of Canada is high whether your program is in demand or not. Once you're done with your studies and have acquired at least a 1 year working experience in Canada, You're very eligible to dive into the Express Entry Pool or possibly get nominated by the province where you schooled. However, in Australia the reverse is the case because if the expertise of your program is not in demand you will be forced to return to your home country.
3. Again, the cost of living is cheaper in Canada than Australia.
4. In terms of universities ranking, Canada is uppermost than Australia.
5. Furthermore, Scholarship availability is higher in Canadian Universities than in Australia.
6. Another driving factor is the fact that Canada doesn't require applicants coming from Nigeria to show proof of English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL) in any stage of the process (admission or visa). On the other note, English proficiency test is a compulsory requirement for every applicant going to Australia for studies and it's also a requirement in the Australian Study Visa application.

I believe the above information will give you a proper insight as to why Nigerians prefer Canada over other top study destinations like Australia.

The University of Regina is not difficult to get in, keep sending emails to them, master's admission process has also been radically affected due to the fact that all universities staffs are presently working remotely. also can I use ECA done for immigration for admission
Still open to advice and more perspectives
You can't use ECA done for immigration purposes for admission. The two are not the same. The ECA for admission is strictly designed for course-by-course evaluation analysis. With a HND certification, it could have been better if you apply for a direct PGD/C program in Canada.

Hello Gurus in the house ..... Mt fellow student was refused for the study permit application he made through an agent . So he is planning on reapplying by himself, i want to know if he is going to sign up again because all the login details of the previous application is with is agent . Please help me out here
The applicant needs to get hold of the previous IRCC forms which was used by the agent in his last application in order to be consistent with the information given in his past application. You don't necessarily need the login details, a fresh account can be generated.
