Hi guys, I have a Bsc in Biochemistry and have worked in the lab for 5 years now. I got an admission to study nursing in U of M. Is a possibility of getting study visa high.
Your profile looks good only if the nursing program in U of Manitoba is higher than your already completed degree program in Biochemistry.

You can't be 100 percent sure. Even though you might qualify as per the Canadian immigration policy, no one is ever guaranteed of a successful application process. You have to prepare your application in accordance with the existing immigration regulations and submit it along with the correct supporting documents to be verified by the Canadian Department of Immigration. The format that one needs to follow is not clearly spelled out by the immigration authorities and a lot of times results in many applicants submitting their files incorrectly, unavoidably leading to denial. Therefore, it is advisable to read through the past threads, always seek for professional guidance by asking questions on this thread and gather relevant informations that would helpful in your application.

Hi everyone,
Can someone of 25 years go for a new degree?
Its very possible provided you're capable of demonstrating to the visa officer that your intent of travelling to Canada is bonafide and strictly to undertake your program and return back home. More importantly, explaining what you've been doing since the past few years in Nigeria that hindered you from attaining any post secondary education until now. Your case is an arduous one and would require a rational statements to be able to pull through.

Good day,
I'm new to the process of applying for the study permit, and would like to ask a few questions.

I got admitted to a school in Quebec for my master's, and got a scholarship of 9500CAD. The total fee is 27,000CAD, leaving me with a net payment of 17500 CAD. The school allows payment per term over the 3 terms. I intend to pay per term, and I have paid the first term fee of 5800 CAD.
As regards funding, how much does my sponsor need to present as proof of funds given the above? I'm concerned about the bank statement. Things have been slow over the last few months, but it shows a credit of about 56m and debit of about 52m over the last 6 months period, so the balance is about 4m at the moment. Is this sufficient ? In addition, I'm attaching property documents worth 50m.

At this point, I don't have any other financial funding source so I'd appreciate any advice on how to make this work or anything else I can do.
Thanks
It's delightful to extend my congratulatory message on your scholarship award.

With regards to your question, your mom (sponsor) has to show sufficient proof of funds for your tuition and living for the first year and proof of how she can be able to finance for the subsequent years of studies in Canada. Following the above financial illustrations given by you, your mom is expected to have 9.5M closing balance in order to satisfy the visa officer that you will not work to pay for your fees or become a burden to the government of Canada in anyway.

I would advise that you should have adequate proof of funds before thinking of putting in your application. Don't hurry to apply, seek for assistance from close relatives and friends and see how they will be able to help with funds.

Hello house, I have a friend who has been worried about how to provide his proof of fund documents. He's 28 years, married and due to financial constraints was keen to source for funds. He was able to secure admission for PhD with funding from his supervisor that covers all his expenses including tuition and still has change. He also got another scholarship from faculty and this equally covers all expenses and tuition so he's left with enough money after offsetting all bills.
Note: the funding letter issued to him by the supervisor came from a well known Research Lab and was told to apply for study permit with the letter.

Question: He doesn't have another proof of fund. Can the two documents serve as his proof of funding. Please he needs a reply. Thank you very much all
Congratulations on your friend's scholarship award at the University in Canada.

Irrespective of the fact that he is been fully funded by the school and faculty, he needs to show POF for any miscellaneous expenses that might arise during the course of his studies in Canada. A bank statement of 1.5M-2M should be adequate in his case. He should try as much as he can to source for this money as soon as possible before filling his study permit application.

Bro, I'm sorry but the passport size put forward by you in bold is meant for PR candidates and not study visa applicants.

Canada Study Visa application passport picture size should be 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm). Full-face view. Your head should be seen from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin.

The person should provide proof of any volunteer experiences he/she has had in the organisation, it will strengthen the application as the visa officer likes to see candidates with such experiences.

Hello Ladies and Giants.

Due to the recent change from IRCC for fall lectures to be carried out online. I have been receiving series of calls, text messages and emails from diverse applicants relating to whether this immigration policy is applicable to everyone including those their applications haven't been approved yet by IRCC or issued a VISA. Some applicants told me that their agents strongly advised them to go ahead and pay for their tuition fees and enrol for online courses not minding whether they have gotten a visa yet nor been approved of their study permit application by IRCC. And that enrolling for online courses will help their visa application and increase their chances of securing a TRV. Please this is entirely a false statement as IRCC never made such comments

Today, I'm happy to share with you guys IRCC latest update about the above subject matter which I believe will clear the grey area for everyone's comprehension.

Distance learning outside Canada
Due to travel restrictions, IRCC acknowledges that study permit holders may be unable to travel to Canada and have to start or continue their program through distance learning abroad.

Students falling into one of the following categories will remain eligible for the post-graduation work permit if at least 50% of their total program of study is completed in Canada. Applicants may have to submit additional documents from the DLI confirming which part of the program was completed in Canada.

*Study permit holders who had already begun their studies in Canada, but left Canada and are continuing their courses online from their home country

*Applicants who have been approved for a study permit to begin a program in May or June 2020, and who will begin their program online from their home country instead of trying to travel to Canada at this time.

Under normal circumstances, all distance-learning courses completed outside Canada are excluded from the time accumulated toward the length of the post-graduation work permit. However, for students in the above categories, on a temporary basis, the time spent in distance learning abroad will not be excluded from the time accumulated toward the length of the post-graduation work permit.

Note: For applicants currently outside Canada who are scheduled to begin studying in May or June 2020 but who do not have either a study permit or approval on their study permit application, time spent pursuing their studies online will not count toward their eligibility for a post-graduation work permit.

In view of this update from IRCC, please and please if you haven't gotten a visa or your study permit application hasn't been approved by IRCC. Please don't listen to anyone, you're NOT eligible to start/enrol for any online classes from your home country. IRCC has made it clear that ONLY applicant who have been approved or has gotten a visa that are free to utilize this opportunity and by so doing will not affect them during the time of their post graduate work permit.

Stay safe guys, I'm always available here to provide you all with real time updates from IRCC.

I hope this information helps.

This should have been my route but I don't have masters.. Focused on career and gathering experience, hopefully, we'll all find the fulfillment we all desire
Nevertheless, an attainment of a Canadian education and a one year work experience would increase your CRS score in Canada.

I wish you the very best in your study permit application.

Spot on. At least before he finishes his WES evaluation, write IELTS and gather other documents, there should be normalcy in the system.
That's true too. Well, we should also put his age or martial status into consideration, the applicant might be seeking for study permit because he may not have qualified for the EE route. Having a master's doesn't guarantee that one is an eligible Candidate for PR. Other factors like IELTS score (8.7.7.7) is also a big hurdle to cross for most applicants. I have seen in the EE thread, applicants that have written the IELTS for more than 8 consecutive times (75kX8 =600k) and still haven't attained the required band. Also, working experiences for three or more years is also an important criteria that must be considered when applying via the EE route.

If the applicant meets this criterion, I think that would be the best option, otherwise he should stick to study permit.

So that means no way to specify for example sponsor bank statement, my bank statement etc.... it will just be all lumped together as one pdf?

Thanks
There is no way to do that. On the other hand, you can only do that when you scan the document and take it to Microsoft, then write on the document afterwards you save it and convert to pdf. Meanwhile this is a long process, it's better you lumped all financial documents in one pdf.

Its very possible. But considering the high rate of refusals, I would advice you consider the PR route since you already have a masters. Thats a more guaranteed route than the study. But if you still wish to give the study option a trial then be prepared to be convincing enough to the visa officer. My 2cents
Well said bro!

However, there haven't been any draws since January for outland express entry stream applicants and no one can tell when they will start as per CIC news. I think a second master's degree program would help in his case, so long as he can present his case in a justifiable manner.

Good evening house.
I already have my BSC & Msc here in Nigeria, I intend to apply for a one year professional Certificate program in Canada as a way to expand my career and professional knowledge.
I just want to know if there's anyone who've gotten visa approval for advance Certificate programs before.
Thanks for the assistance.
Go for a second masters program that is not directly related to your undergraduate degree/ previous master's. You can opt for an MBA program or any management program provided is not in tandem with your past education. Provide convincing and well detailed explanation as to why you're switching into this field of study. I know several applicants that have done this in the past and even in this present time and were approved of their visas. It's much easier to convince the visa officer when you're going for a degree that is different from your already acquired degree especially when you've previously attained a master's degree.

How do I attach the two letters or do I need to attach the deferral letter alone?
Attach only the deferral letter as the previous one for fall 2020 has already been cancelled by the school.

Hello everyone, I need some help with my study permit application. I will appreciate if the Gurus here can help me answer some questions.
1. My Mother is my sponsor and the statement of account she provided is a different account from her Salary account, It’s where she saves from her business and salary. How would I explain this in my Statement of purpose.
2. Will stating that she has other dependants affect my application?

Thank you
There is no much explanation needed. As already stated by you that's where she saves the money coming from the proceeds of her business and employment. A simple explanation as this from sponsor is adequate.

Mentioning that sponsor (mother) has other dependants apart from you when she has excess of funds in her account in no way affects your application or her readiness and capability to sponsor your education in Canada. You only claim you're the sole dependant when she doesn't have much in her bank account.

I hope this makes sense to you

You have to approach the police state CID of imo state for a copy of your PCC. Your details will be collected and transported to Police Headquarters at Alagbon - Ikoyi, Lagos for proper processing prior to be sent back to you. The process might cost you 10k-15k from imo state. Although in Lagos it's just 3k. More importantly, PCC is an optional document for a study visa applicant, and non-inclusion of it has no negative impact on your application.

UPFRONT MEDICAL UPDATED: applied for the fourth time on 16/05/2020 with the same documents and a slight changed LOE pointing out the wrong decisions the made in my previous application.I was encouraged to do that by my parish priest without involving any third party backed with prayers.I got medical update this morning(Did my upfront medical on 28th January, 2020) and have never received update on the medical in my previous applications this time No BVL yet .am just keeping my finger crossed.
At this stage your application is 50/50. Updating of upfront medicals to PASSED is normal and doesn't mean its certain that your application will be approved. I know several applicants that got this notification and still got rejected. With that being said, its probably that the previous visa officer didn't look into your E-medical slip before making a decision on your file.

Don't show great happiness yet, keep the faith and hope your visa application will be reconsidered by the new VO. As your parish priest has said, keep praying! And never relent.

Thank you very much @Frankrobbn1. I really appreciate your detailed response.

I will go ahead and liquidate the funds into my account.
~About the CUAC, the Ghana office caters for West African applications. I haven’t began my application yet but honestly, I’m seriously considering it.

----------》 ACCRA VO is the slowest immigration office for Canada and visa processing times takes a very longer duration than expected. So also consider this when making a decision.

~ Is it wise for my husband to apply for a visitor’s visa first or just go ahead and apply for an “F2” visa? (my apologies, I don’t know what it’s called.)

------------ 》Your husband should apply for a visitor's visa, it's much easier to get once he has sufficient documents to prove that he has funds and employment prospects back home which he will fall back to upon his visit to Canada.

Thanks again. I believe it will end in praise.

My brother,

I guess you're keeping safe! My opinion and contribution is this:

Being able to secure an employer outside of
Canada recognized by IRCC and eligible to do so by meeting all IRCC employment requirement is something of tedious nature and may seem almost impossible. Most times, some of this employer don't consider such herculean tasks worthy when their available options are been weighed. I think PNPs and FSWP are still of better preferences than AIPP and ANIP especially for Nigerians, in spite of their little flexible requirements in IELTS score, educational credentials and funds.

One love!
You're absolutely right Bro.

As for my colleagues, majority of them if not all got their job offers through international job fairs. I think the best and easiest way you can secure a job is to register for the job fairs which are usually held at Dubai or France. In this present time, most companies in Canada are not recruiting foreign nationals due to the current global pandemic, instead some employers are laying off workers as a result of decreased business capitalization or low income to pay up their on ground staffs.

When the travel restrictions relaxes, interested candidates might also utilize the AIPP route by registering for any of the available job fairs as mentioned above.

My own point of view.

Let it be true that I have high chances of visa approval..
I didn't mean if you apply for Visa with an undergraduate acceptance letter from University of Regina, you will be automatically approved. No one can guarantee you the success of your application.

If you have done the right thing and covered every loopholes that might raise the visa officer's eye brows during the ELIGIBILITY review at the visa processing centre. Your chances are better with the University.

I admire your tenacity and resilience towards achieving your Canadian dreams. Keep it up.

Visa which is always placed on your passport only grants you entry into Canada. While study permit is a paper issued to you at the point of entry which determines the duration of your study/stay in Canada.
