I traveled from Lagos to Port Harcourt to see my future in laws family. My girl wasn't around as she's still in Lagos schooling.

I went there with a family member and got them some items like shortcake biscuits and juice.

They offered us food and we ate. After the meeting and normal questioning, we were set to go when surprisingly, this people brought out two loaves of bread and gave us. I told them that the food we ate was enough, that we don't need the bread.

We haven't even gone far when my girl started texting me on WhatsApp angrily asking me why I rejected her mother's gift. That she gave it out of love, this and that.

I told her that bread is the wrongest gift the mother could give me. I am supposed to buy them bread and not the one way round. I intentionally refused to buy bread for them because I assumed bread is an everyday food that people buy and eat, so I decided to go with the package biscuits instead and here they are offering me bread.

If it were something produced locally by them like coconut or something, I can understand but bread?

Please, did I do anything wrong rejecting the bread?

No we are not learning anything as we can never learn in Nigeria. To us everything is tribalism. I am Yoruba, you ask me who I voted for in the last Election, I told you Tinubu and you accuse me of tribalism even when you (as Igbo) voted for Peter Obi, and you fail to see that more Yorubas voted for Obi than Igbos voted for Tinubu - why. I am not a tribalist and will never be. My choice is my choice and not out of tribalism. I supported Jonathan/Sambo and the Atiku/Obi ticket against the Buhari/Osinbajo because to me, they are the better candidates. To me, an Atiku will be a better option than Buhari, Peter Obi a better one than Atiku, Tinubu a better on to Peter Obi, Osinbajo a better one to Tinubu etc, if APC had not given their ticket to Tinubu or Osinbajo, I would likely vote for Peter Obi.
That's my choice and opinion not tribalism.

There is this issue bothering me pertaining to what happened at home some time ago.

I was called by my Uncle's wife to go help and buy her some recharge card which she stated and I quote

She: Ade Ade!! When you're done take this money and go get me recharge card.

Me: OK ma.

But on looking at the time (4:36) in which am supposed to throw away dirty at once since we do have a specific time which people are allowed to do that (5:00 pm till 9:00pm).

After some minutes, she called and asked me if I have gone to get the card she asked me to buy which I answered no and stated my reason

Me: Am waiting for the time to get to 5:00pm so I can buy the card for you and throw away dirty at the same time.

In which She told me that she needed it urgently, I should go buy it immediately which I did.

On coming back home, she started screaming in the presence of my Uncle how I disrespected her for saying I want the time to get to 5:00 pm so I can go buy her the card and throw away dirty at the same time, what stopped me from going it twice?

I told her the reason why I said so was because am feeling a little bit feverish due to lot of stress from school today and that's the reason why I said such.
Even why trying to explain things to her, she told me she don't care, if I want to die I should go ahead and die there that it's non of her business and so much ranting.


Pls Nairalandders, did what I said sound like an insult or any form of showing disrespect to someone? Even thou I still pleaded with her that am sorry, but all hell was let loosed.

Pls I need your humble opinion on this.
