Good morning to the elders in this thread, I am a silent reader but I have learnt so much from the wealth of experience of people in this group. The attached is the offer I got on Opay app. Is it safe to put money here? Pls guide before man pikin go mis-step.
I do not know much about Opay so I will leave those with the knowledge to give a better explanation. However, I will like you answer find answers to the following questions..

1. What business/businesses are you they into?

2. Where and where do they operate?

3. Is recent government policies in their area of operations favouring them?

4. What will your own Investment be used for?

5. From your knowledge of their business can it provide such returns?

With answers to these, I believe you will have a clear path.

Our leaders are corrupt and have mentally positioned us to applaud and praise few people who occasionally do the right thing.
We elected them into such position to do this few basic things for us, why must we celebrate and blow unnecessary trumpet of praises to them when they manage to do the right thing.

It's just like thanking and praising the pilot of a commercial airline for flying me safely to my destination. Didn't I pay for the ticket with my hard earned money? Ofcourse it should be the other way round.

Nigerians have been mentality caged.
Why do people thank waiters at the restaurant /bars or even tip them for a good service when they are doing what they are supposed to do?

People in the medical field are fighting hard to curb Corona virus and we praise then in every step of the fight. Why? is it their corrupt mentality that position us to praise them?

When police capture or kill armed robbers we applaud/praise them. Is that not what they are paid to do?

Why then will a leader do something good and you will feel because they were elected to do so they should not be applauded for it. Are they no leaders not living up to expectations in that regard?

Whether in Nigeria or anywhere in the world. If a leader does something right he is applauded just as people also vent their displeasure if something is wrong. Nothing like Nigerian being mentally caged there.

Oga you allowed your dollar to touch the hands of an aboki and you did not change the dollar after that? Una get mind o.

Stories abound of aboki exchanging real USD for fake USD simply for reneging on agreements and you asking them to return your money to you.

Anyway, I believe you should be safe sha.

In future, before you do that, ensure you write the serial number of the money or snap each of them before you hand it over. Even banks scan each dollar before handing them over to you.
This scenario you painted is possible only if you deal with the roadside / dubious exchangers. If you walk into a real Bureau the Change nothing of such will happen.

hmmm, just that if I have small change like this. I don't know how to say no.. but after granting the request, I would now be regretting
..... u people are doing great here..grin
Your small change will definitely have a pattern which it comes. It may come inform of salary, wages, earnings e.t.c In like manner you will have to design a pattern of giving too. You are not to turn to a bad person overnight...nope.. but you will need to set a limit to it.. decide a percentage you want to give out after you save and take care of your bill. If that amount is exhausted then whatever request that comes will have to wait till you earn again.

You go need strong your mind small oooo till when you feel you have saved and invested to a particular level or when your earnings capabilities have improved and you feel you need to give out more.

this life sha.. na money person dey use find money ..I see one bro up there wey one invest 5m..if I'm not mistaking, by the end of the year, he would have like 500k to 600k as gain.. which that might take care of him house rent or start another business self.. the question now is how person one gather 5m in this Nigeria nitori oloun.. coming from a shaking background, after settling bills and other stuff.. how u one gather 5m extra.. would appreciate una input abeg.. put us through ...
Obviously you have a means of income. Person wey no dey earn no go take care of bills. Try as much as you can to reduce the bills and money you spend for other stuff to very necessary ones to enable you save some. Try your hands on other means of earnings to boost your what you earn.

Do not understimate the power of gradual and consistent savings no matter how small.

My Tbills is to expire first week in July. With the current trends, would it be wise to terminate investment now and buy dollars to keep in a dom account? I’m very much interested in preserving the spending power of my little savings. Which bank is preferable for dom acct opening and maintenance? If I deposit $5k would I be able to withdraw everything when I need it?
Opening any account with GTB is without money I.e Zero balance . Dorm accounts inclusive. Though you will still be advised to fund the account when open but that will be totally at your discretion. Also, I don't think there are maintenance charges with their dorm account.

The charges you are likely to get will be transfer charges and the likes..

other good ones in the mould of the Redmi are Haylou GTS
Which one has a good noise cancellation please. I have used Haylou GTS pro good but the noise cancellation is poor.

I tried to switch to tronsmart encore s2 plus wireless headphone. That one too has a very poor noise cancellation. You can not make call without the receiver hearing all other background noise from your end.

Oga I say I dey owe bank already as we dey talk.Them no cancel credit repayment.
So how do I borrow from bank again weh I dey owe them? undecided
Na my girlfriend dey pay off the monthly remittance sef as me and you dey talk right now because she's an employee for a stable firm and her salary is steady.
However the loan I took was used to expand my business in terms of acquiring new kind of inventory and opening other routes.
How do I pay off when we don't sell anymore?
I will still reiterate, all traders of capital base of 100million and below have no savings.
Are you trying to say someone that built something from nothing to a 100m naira isn't smart because he doesn't access credit or haven't got emergency savings fund?
You don trade before so?
I see your line of argument. However, there is need for us to learn/add new ways of doing things from what we already know or feel all traders do. Most people will not what to give you their secret except on a thread like this. A lot of business men with that mindset does not withstand shock most times because all they look forward to is expansion without thinking of eventualities.

I know some businessmen around here that would rather involve friends when going for a bigger Investment not because they can't shoulder it alone or they wouldn't have want to make all the profit alone but because they want to share the risk/shock and still live normal incase of eventualities. Some will rather involve their banks instead.

Risk should be spread. If market catch fire and all a businessman has is in that market then there is trouble.

Hello guys can we share investment or money management lessons we learnt during this lockdown.

I learnt three major lessons.

1. Cash is king

2. Live below your means

3. Be cautiously optimistic
I learnt that there is need to always have a reasonable sum in a transferable account for urgent/ quick transaction and need.

Except for those residing in Lagos many others who use Morgan Capital Securities Limited here opened their accounts online. So you can open your account with them online.

Let's be calm folks. This is not a normal regular time we are in the whole situation took the whole world by storm . Be rest assured nothing is wrong, some of your experiences is for your good. If the cost to post and do some other things during this lock-down is going to have a material effect on your investment i think it's better to wait than to have a loss. All that is happening is as a result of the lock-down. Sincerely the cost of working from home for financial institution is not as easy as it's been said. I can assure you your dividend will be paid and the value date for reinvestment of interest will still carry 1st of April 2020 as value date and you will get all accrued interest till date when it's posted.

Note: Posting interest is not same as earning interest. Interest is earned daily nothing stops that. what you have now is interest earned but not yet posted. Remember we are all in the same boat together and definitely we shall sail to shore.
This period hasn't had any significant effect on the behaviours of these Investment houses/ asset managers. All of them are just displaying their normal characteristics. I have been indirectly involved with FBNQUEST since December 2019. After the 4th quarter of 2019 it them quite a while to start crediting the daily interest in January 2020. There was no Covid 19 situation then same scenario is happening now.

United Capital credited their quarterly interest and started posting their daily interest almost immediately during the lockdown period. I started using them this year so I may not have much to say for now.

SIAML have their pattern of reinvestment of interest and have been consistent with it.

These are the 3 I can say something about now.

How can one calculate Break Even Price for a stock without using the option provided on Morgan. I have some stocks I bought with another broker at a higher price but averaged down using Morgan. Want to be able to set an exit of at least 50% once the price hits the BEP.
Since you do not want to use Morgan's what you will have to do is to get the purchase prices of the said shares as it was bought at interval. Write down them down, write down the total amount spent on charges at those interval. Calculated the amount you intend to sell and get the selling charges that amount/quantity.

Add the total amount you bought that set to the buying and selling charges. Divide it by the number of shares. The amount you are to sell to avoid any loss will show.

So if you bought it 5 times at 5 different amounts..just calculate each set you bought that way add them together then divide it with the total amount of that shares you have.

Thank you very much. Normally my interest are reinvested which has been rightly done. But since the reinvestment no other interest has been paid. That's the anomaly I'm trying to point out. On my dashboard the accrued interest since after reinvestment is 0.00. today is 6th of a new Month.

That's what I'm trying to say.

Hello house.

Please who's using FBN MMF here?

Since 1st of April that FBN adjusted accrued interest for compounding and payment for others, they've not paid anything (at least on my own account/dashboard). This is quite strange. Is it cos of the Covid-19? Please any other FBN MMF subscriber experiencing same?
Sorry, I can tell that for those reinvesting the interest, it has been added to the capital already. I can't tell about those that are to receive interest in their account sha.

Though we still have a problem with them crediting the account with a subscription/deposit we did around 30th of march.

Have sent a mail to them. You should do same or contact the RM for your issue..

what's this number please

okay I get that's the account number of the First Trustees SIMMF. How did you get that number?

if that's how to top up how do we redeem?
I got the number from StanbicIBTC bank customer care when I wanted to subscribe the period I opened my account with them back then. I was going to tell you to call them to get it but then I already have it so what's the essence. However, it concerns money and investment so if you are in doubt the best people to consult after this is Stanbic IBTC Asset/ Fund Management for guidance.

On redemption, it can only be possible online if you have set your security question and answer. The default online maximum withdrawal amount for an individual is N1m and can be increased to N2.5M.
