There are igbos in South South, but are they the majority group in most of the South South? There are Yorubas and Fulani's in North Central, but are they the majority groups there and does that give them the right to claim those lands? Majority of the people in kwara are Yoruba's but are majority of people in Benue and Akwa lbom Igbo's? Both Yoruba's and Hausa's also have no right to claim large parts of the North Central. It's a simple sturvs( in falz' voice). |

EbonyMira: Computer science definitely has more calculations. Science - is basically theories and proofs Engineering - is science applied.
The calculations in chemical engineering has a degree of complexity to it.
I read someone's post associating 4X4 Matrix to chemical engineering. LOL
Computer science has complex maths o. You only see them at the PHD and Masters level. Most schools in Nigeria are BASICally outdated- Teaching FORTRAN and other dead languages.
When you go into AI- facial recognition- regression analysis - Application of eigen vectors and matrices in eigen faces to map out vertex point in a facial mesh. You'll know. Interesting. Chemical engineers do all these and apply them all along to Masters' level. |

figure007: am a graduate of computer science and what you just said is nothing but the fact.. .its computer science and mathematics.. .Alot of math.. Alot of math that almost led to spill over self. ..hmmmmm What you guys don't understand is that chemical engineers also do programming and codes, and apply all these to complex calculations. A chemical engineer could be more comfortable in a computer science class but a computer scientist would fly out through the window in a process dynamics lecture. |

However, the best thing is to do that stuff you can't stop being passionate about. Yeah only mechanical engineering is more diverse or complex than chemical. |

Cacawa2: I'm no talking of the borrowed courses people do in 100 and 200 levels. I am talking about the core dept. Courses. Even for core departmental courses, in chemical you still have more calculations, Thermodynamics 1 and 2, Transport Phenomena, Unit operations, process optimization, process dynamics, etc. In separation processes and plant design, you work with assumptions and you mordify as you go along. In unit operations you work with graphs and iterations along that line. It's all about the process in chemical engineering, but it's interesting. |

Chemical Engineering has more calculations, plant design, Heat and Mass, Fluid Mechanics, in addition to calculus/algebra/,logic. The pure chemistry is just 15%, Biology 5%, and then 80% calculations mainly involving guesses, control of parameters/conditions and lengthy processes. In chemical engineering the process and design is more important. |

davidif: Well if you can't stand on your own feet then you shouldn't exist in the first place. Like I've said time and again, Nigeria does not need 36 states and 774 local govt. That's way too big. They need to reduce it to 12 or scrap them altogether and have 6 regions.
The Fed govt needs to cut off allocations and force this people to raise their own revenue and provide services for their people. It makes no sense for the Fed govt to be providing an entire states budget. If Nigeria were a business it would have been bankrupt already. How can you have 36 divisions that are struggling to breakeven and yet they are still being propped up by management. Sorry buddy, it's time to cut off the excess fat. Sink or float. I'm not against that, but they can start with devolution of powers to the states first and then reduce allocations slowly. All l'm saying is we plan for it in 3 years with some new policies and changes. I'm not against restructuring. |

We may not be fully ready for federalism at the moment due to the fact that many regions depend on Federal Government and may not survive it, so a gradual devolution of powers to the state is a step in the right direction. When the states begin to look inwards to diversify slowly and steadily, then we restructure. The senate should give a timeline of 3-5 years for the full implementation of federalism as we prepare for it. Also all Governors must fulfill a set of promises at a given timeline, with a state website and forum that makes them all accountable. Local Governments should be slightly independent of State Government but must also participate on the forums. |

Why don't you guys start now or you guys need a flag before you start? The guy who built the car, what effort has he even made to make it public or at least have someone create a website for him, so as to make it known to the state Government? There's more to entrepreneurship than just innovation. I don't think any Government, would wanna abandon their talents and good home built materials to keep importing, that is why the army signed a memorandum with lnnosun. Maduawuchukwu: The only states that are "waking up" there are Ogun and Lagos but guess what? Ogun is becoming an industrial power only because of its proximity to Lagos which on its own was built by the FG. So in otherwords, Ogun's rise is fuelled by FG actions. Calabar on the other hand tried to rise with tourism driven by state govt initiative but where are they today? The FG's failure to dredge the Calabar port and the Free-trade-zone issue killed their Tinapa dreams. I want a situation where a state can rise with minimal FG aid. So how do we get there? Because let's call a spade a spade, if we restructure today only about 5 states would move on with minimal burden. They are (in my opinion) Lagos, Rivers, Ogun, and then maybe Anambra and Kaduna to a lesser extent. That is why l believe tax should become a major source of revenue like in other developed and even developing countries, and then slowly let us create policies over the next five years that would make the restructuring easier for us. |

Only a dreamer is still talking about restructuring in Nigeria.
The reality on the ground is the same as what Ojukwu faced 50 years ago.
"Accept Nigeria the way the North wants it or strive for your independence" This matter is bigger than the North already, it is almost a collective call by Nigerians even the prominent Nigerians. Sorry, there's nothing they can do about it, this is why the debate rages on now like never before. |

shervydman: very correct, the federal government Is even the cause of the debacle of some sectors. very true, but sad. the FG cant build a diversified economy on its own, they cant, its quite impossible. I agree too, but the only problem is that we have so many lazy State Governors, and many regions are not ready. Lagos, Ogun, and even Calabar and Kano are waking up gradually. The North East would also need 90% support from Federal Government even after restructuring. These are the challenges, but l believe we would get there. |

If we restructure and don't have right reasoning
Its dead on arrival Nobody said restructuring would solve all our problems at once, but it would be a process and a step in the right direction especially as it puts an end to this culture of sharing. The only problem is that so many states and regions are not ready for it at the moment. |

There are lots of disadvantages I kid you not but hey West Africa is already full of countries not being able to fulfil some obligations so I expect them to jump on this I can only feel pity for the Sahrawis ..their future is about to get sold The Western Sahara problem is the biggest disadvantage in letting Morocco in, perhaps Nigeria and other ECOWAS members would lay down terms and conditions, but the weak AU is also to be blamed for it, for not putting enough pressure on Morocco. |
