I strongly disagree.

Don't mind the haters. This was what I wrote to one chic. It just ignited her. I mean she's now on fire. Check it out! Alfa toasting. grin grin

O beautiful lady,
Your brightness is as the likeness of a star,
Resplendeth, shining in the eyes of the seer,
Your eyes is as the likeness of an oval shaped jewel,
Whose owner perisheth much with abounding love,
Your shape to whom that write is eight,
Yea, the figure eight with no gluming confusion,
As the sun shineth and the moon is lite,
The horizon between like and love is evident,
Your smile and right manner defineth the chrisma,
Ah! And what will convey unto thee what the chrisma is?
It is to carry along like the rainbow,
Whereof (it) flares variantly in the deep blue sky,
And to implant into the hearts of those whom ye meet joy,
O queen! Beauty that need not define itself,
Saving to those who see not thus blind,
Him that write hath only slept a little,
Thy person hast surely made a sleeping heart awakened,
O by the Lord of the two easts,
And the two wests,
I have found one whom I think is companion,
Heaven sent, God given.
Do not turn away,
Why turn away?!
Again, why turn away?!
When the writer is no poet,
In his belief, Allah hath sent one,
A wife to be! Full of compassion and generous,
O darling! Remain chaste.

Okay, what would you call people who act like this then?

In 2007, after getting tired of the lack of water palava, my grandma decides to dig a well in her backyard so we wouldn't have to trek like the Israelites  just to get water to shower every morning.

Now, this decision was made after she did much teeth pulling in the neighborhood; as frustrated as she was; there was no one she didn't call on in her street so they can join forces to try to call someone to do something about the water issue. (Chairman, Rep, councillor, whoever, you name it). In any case, no one living in that same neighborhood with her (and making the same treks every morning to fetch water with those heavy pails on their heads!) wanted to get involved.

The response she got from them was, "leave them (our "elected leaders"wink alone o!!, or "you know they won't help us o!", or "that's how they are o!", or "sha ma wo nti e o"! (just keep looking).

Okay fine, now fast forward to my grandma eventually putting the well in the backyard and she lets any and everyone have access to it. (our backyard was a scene every morning with people coming to fetch water since now, there's someone closer; they didn't have to carry their pails that far anymore to get water. Even when she's not home, she leaves the backyard door open so people can still come fetch water even when there's nobody at home. Great!

Now fast forward to her forgetting to leave the backdoor open one day. Yepa!!!, come see thunder and fire at work!

These same people of this neighborhood that were once jejely making their Israelite treks to get water, not complaining about anything, all of a sudden turned into these belligerent group of people because the poor old lady happened to forget ONE TIME to keep the backyard door unlocked.

There were no words left unsaid, how dare she not leave it open today?! Doesn't she know that a lot of people depend on that well so they can shower?! Doesn't she realize people have work to go to?! These people are so useless!, Blah, blah, blah,

I, of course, was quite amused and disgusted by this. I wondered why these people who were more than satisfied with the condition that was forcefully imposed on them by their "elected leaders" and have been more than satisfied with it for years, after all, no one ever complained outside of their homes; all of a sudden became so vocal about what they felt was their entitlement when one poor old lady forgot to unlock the door one time.

The rate at which they turned on her was so baffling to me; and I just sadly wondered how we are so quickly to turn on each other (even those who are trying their best to help you) but when the people who treat you like dogs come around, they are bowing incessantly doing "yes sir, yes sir', and their mouth goes shut.

Now multiply this incident by millions of neighborhoods in Nigeria. How exactly do you categorize people who act like that?  Heroes? for letting a little old lady have a piece of their minds?  huh

No one is condemning Nigerians in Nigeria for the suffering, at least I'm not. And I doubt any sane Nigerian would say that they're better than those who are in the country just because they managed to get out.

But you can't help but wonder why we continue to regurgitate the same corrupt group to lead each and every time. Nigerians in Nigeria don't need every Nigerian outside of the country to come back in the country before they know they need to elect the right people in office, do they?
I admire your Grandma, Kudos to the great work! cool. These are the people we need in Nigeria.

FamilyRe: I Beg Ur Suggesions: by Frizy(m): 7:57pm On Jan 12, 2009
please I need ur advice……I had been forced to say 'yes' in my marriage. It was a few days ago…we have 10 years age gap….my educational background is so high….In contrast though he is double masters, bt nt frm so renowned instituitions….Later I met d man in face 2 face and had a looog loog conversation…, I found him really suited to me and felt so happy…, after that we got engaged by our family.
Hmm. interesting, which university did you graduate from? Harvard, Yale or the University of Capetown. grin grin grin. So high indeed. grin grin

We began to talk over phone…, he was tooooooooo romantic, emotional and lovable toward me. He expressed his love for me after 3 days of our engagement…he always try to make me feel that he loves me frm d core of his heart, he felt me o deeply……though I was not in love with him, but got some weakness in my mind seeing his so much feelings for me…
So while you were having your Ph.D you never found someone that loves you that much. undecided. You are now saying you love him sympathetically, if I knew that guy I would have told him to leave you. Guys don't need to beg, same to girls too. tongue

after 1.5 month I accidently (not from himself, rather frm another person) came to know that he had been lying to me about his MBA. Actually we all knew frm his biodata that he is doing MBA from a good private university……d 1st day before our engagement whn I met him, I asked him bout this too. He also told me that he is doing MBA. After our engagement after my asking he told me over ph that he is taking a few gaps from his study bt will start within a few days…, bt nw I came to knw that actually he had permanently stopped his MBA 2 years ago and never told me himself!!!! I was so shocked and dishearten
Ok, I'm getting to understand you. Knowing a double masters degree isn't an equivalent to your Ph.D in Oxford you were shocked. grin grin grin. Do you expect him to tell you he only has a first degree in Animal production from U.I that you may start saying you can't marry a "goat seller"? grin grin.  Some women no go kill me. grin

he and his family got impressed at my educational bacgrond…I had been a brilliant student….bt here I have no feeling regarding his normal background.
Tell me what your educational background is with this sentence. Or is this the new way of writing shorthand Ms.Ph.D? tongue

I m confused…, I feel I would die…how I'd let him toch me…fall for him after seeing his such laziness and lie!!!! I beg u alllllllllllllllll please after a good deal of thought suggest me, I can't live wid such a mental torchur, how can I try to love him?
Seun please post this topic on the home page for nairalanders to view and comment. grin grin. O pa ni, **confused and die**

That is how sensible I see you now. I bet he never listened to the speech before ranting like a he-goat. shocked

You advice muslims not to vote at all, do you know the implication of this?
Tell me a better way, if they don't have a candidate after their welfare. Fool! angry

Please tell me, how many brain cells do you have? You don't want them to vote which is the only civil way of making their voice heard. Is it because voting is peaceful and does not involve suicide bombings and sensless killings of innocent people? Are these suicide bombings and sensless killings of innocent people the only thing that muslims should do?
Another foolish statement. Did I tell you now that I advocate suicide bombing, and that all Muslims do? huh. While Jihad is defined exclusively as a battle with the sword, suicide bombing is not advocated by alot of the sincere scholars because its suicidal and non-selective. slowpoke angry

No matter how much you try to hide your racism, your post reveals it. Your problem with Obama is because he is black(African American). You have the guts to say that he is not! Please what is he? Stinking Arabic killer? I have noticed that islam is a very racist religion, no matter how much they try to hide it. Any black person who is a muslim is a complete fool who lacks the knowledge of the history of that rubbish called islam.
You must be too daft to even say this. Who said he is not black? Or because he is black, you now expect him to feed your family in Nigeria. angry

Are you now the wise black? huh huh. Daft nonsense

I don't know if there is something in islam that makes its followers dumb and stupid. I have seen otherwise pretty smart people, but whenever the discusion is about islam or politics they become totally stupid. Driven by lust for murder, anger, hatrad, they open their mouths and talk rubbish.
What makes you think makes Muslims stupid? Go to schools and see how your so called "almajirs" out wit others in their exams. Why don't you think for once before talking? huh

The major problem with the world today is islam. We wait for the day America or any other country will eradicate islam from the face of the earth. I know the time is coming.
Let me tell you the truth. The main problem with the world today is Kufr, and aggressive Kafrs like you contribute much to the problems we have in the world. We wont wait but also struggle for the day we'll eradicate Kufr from the face of the earth. I know the time is coming. grin grin

There is nobody forcing anybody. Like someone said, its a matter of conviction.

If you can't accept her as a Christian, after all doesnt your hypocritical book allow the men to marry Christians & Jews and the women can't? Abi?
Another theory, did I say I don't accept her? undecided. Its very amazing that Christians are beginning to read the Koran, however, the sad part is many do not comprehend it. I said you will have to live with many things if you love your wife. And Allah in His Benevolent Wisdom has reasons for saying something. An understanding Muslim would search for Muslim women before turning to a Christian. Do you want Muslim girls to have no husband to marry them? tongue

why were you trying to cause trouble between your parents nah? huh Would you have preferred your mom to take you to Ogun/sango shrine secretly, instead of a church? trick question oh!

So far this is one of the weakest arguments against Muslim/Christian marriages I've seen.

I have some friends who are from Muslim/Christian backgrounds and for the most part they grew up with some knowledge of both religions and the parents marriage didnt suffer for it either.
Don't twist my word. Am not trying to cause any confusion. I would never, me as a little boy who Allah wants to see the truth will from childhood even with that little reasoning know that he doesn't want Christianity. I loved praying with my dad, it was like an exercise that I thought was child's play. So going to another congregation would look strange.
IslamRe: She's A Christian,am A Muslim. Can This Marriage Work? by Frizy(m): 4:12pm On Jan 11, 2009
No, no, no. I am advising you to leave her alone. She would do all the things necessary to convince your children to become Christians. My mum till date is a christian, and all her family members. The very sad thing is that my dad's family are very few compared to these people. My dad doesn't feel happy that his wife is still christian after several decades of marriage. But what can the old man do. undecided. My mum makes me laugh because she is always telling me never to bring a Muslim woman home. grin grin. But it depends on your faith in Islam, I personally can't marry a Christian no matter how beautiful she may look, guy there are millions of Muslim women that have that too. Just be careful, am talking from my experience when I was a child, I couldn't keep my mouth shut, and reported my mum each time she took me to church secretly. My dad feels very sad but believes me, at the end a lengthy argument. If you find a Christian that wants to convert to Islam, maybe that could be better-- but don't let love fool you, because when you marry a Christian, there would be certain things you have to life with, and compromise with. Except you don't love your wife!

(74)Chapter Name:Al-Muddathir or The One Wrapped up

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
(1) O thou enveloped in thy cloak,
(2) Arise and warn!
(3) Thy Lord magnify,
(4) Thy raiment purify,
(5) Pollution shun!
(6) And show not favor, seeking worldly gain!
(7) For the sake of thy Lord, be patient!
[8] For when the trumpet shall sound,
(9) Surely that day will be a day of anguish,
(10) Not of ease, for disbelievers.
(11) Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely,
(12) And then bestowed upon him ample means,
(13) And sons abiding in his presence
(14) And made (life) smooth for him.
(15) Yet he desireth that I should give more.
(16) Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations.
(17) On him I shall impose a fearful doom.
(18) For lo! he did consider; then he planned angry
(19) (Self) destroyed is he, how he planned! angry
(20) Again (self) destroyed is he, how he planned! angry
(21) Then looked he,
(22) Then frowned he and showed displeasure.
(23) Then turned he away in pride
(24) And said: This is naught else than magic from of old;
(25) This naught else than speech of mortal man.
(26) Him shall I fling unto the burning.
(27) --Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is!--
(28) I leaveth naught; it spareth naught
(29) It shrivelleth the man.
(30) Above it are nineteen 1.
(31) We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals.

(32) Nay, by the Moon
(33) And the night when it withdraweth
(34) And the dawn when it shineth forth,
(35) Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents)
(36) As a warning unto men,
(37) Unto him of you who will advance or hang back.
(38) Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds;
(39) Save these who will stand on the right hand.
(40) In gardens they will ask one another
(41) Concerning the guilty:
(42) What hath brought you to this burning?
(43) They will answer: We were not of those who prayed
(44) Nor did we feed the wretched.
(45) We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders,
(46) And we used to deny the Day of Judgment,
(47) Till the inevitable came unto us.
(48) The mediation of no mediators will avail them then.
(49) Why now turn they away from the Admonishment
(50) As they were frightened asses
(51) Fleeing from a lion! grin
(52) Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah).
(53) Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter.
(54) Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment.
(55) So whosoever will may heed.
(56) And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy.

1- Unclear but may mean 19 angels guarding the disbelievers so they escape not from hell.

(73)Chapter Name: Al-Muzzammil Or The Enfolded One

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
(1) O thou wrapped up in thy raiment!
(2) Keep vigil the night long, save a little--
(3) A half thereof, or abate a little thereof
(4) Or add (a little) thereto and chant the Qur'an in measure,
(5) For We shall charge thee with a word of weight.
(6) Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain.
(7) Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business.
[8] So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion--
(9) Lord of the East and the West; there is no God save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender--
(10) And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking.
(11) Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile.
(12) Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire,
(13) And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom
(14) On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand.
(15) Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger.
(16) But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We sealed him with no gentle grip.
(17) Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey,
(18) The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled.
(19) Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord.
(20) Lo! thy Lord knoweth how thou keepest vigil sometimes nearly two thirds of the night, or (sometimes) half or a third thereof, as do a party of those with thee. Allah measureth the night and the day. He knoweth that ye count it not, and turneth unto you in mercy. Recite, then, of the Qur'an that which is easy for you. He knoweth that there are sick folk among you, while others travel in the land in search of Allah's bounty, and others (still) are fighting for the cause of Allah. So recite of it that which is easy (for you), and establish worship and pay the poor due and (so) lend unto Allah a goodly loan. Whatsoever good ye send before you for your souls, ye will surely find it with Allah, better and greater in the recompense. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
