Serious buyer...160k |
Sorry about your situation @OP
|
Politicians sha... This dead dude should have been exported to South Africa to terrorize them for daring to kill Nigerians.... |
Can d uncharted go for 10k? |
Can this go for 150? |
Whats current price |
I really dont understand how people are so skeptical about this. The masses dont believe in the health system. Why should the politicians? |
And then some government official will appear on tv and be wondering why Nigerians are emmigrating. Everyone is oppressing the common man from the military to the police, armed robbers, politicians and now DSS. God dey! |
Bisjosh:Aside the info posted by akeensbussy, check out this link: http://buildingcontractorsecrets.com/2012/12/23/how-to-calculate-timber-roof-members/ |
akeensbussy:Thanks sir |
akeensbussy:Thanks so much. I will get quotes from other carpenters but I intend to buy the wood myself. In line with your advice, I am thinking of getting 2x12 and then cutting into 2x2, 2x3, 2x6 pieces. Is there any way to get the 3x4 at reduced cost? |
Oga Akeensbusy, How is your project going? I stumbled on a website (http://buildingcontractorsecrets.com/2012/12/23/how-to-calculate-timber-roof-members/) discussing how to calculate amount of wood required for roof. I came up with some crazy figures but would require your professional input. First off, my build is about 25m long and 13.3m wide with a roof height of 5m. Following the instruction on the site and calculating for long span roof. Ceiling noggin 350pcs 2x2 Wall plate 52pcs 3x4 Facial board 23pcs 1x12 Tie beam 80pcs 2x6 Struts 160pcs 3x4 Rafter 195pcs 3x4 Purlins 144pcs 2x3 Kingpost 28pcs 2x6 Are these realistic figures? Let me try to upload pics of the building

Na wa o. So this is how all this carpenters dey swallow hard earned cash. I had someone supervising my project but I noticed I was spending so much and achieving so little. I decided to learn from NL and do things myself. |
seguno2:Thanks but such trivial facts wont put dollars in my account neither would it lead to promotion at work, at least for me. In addition, unlike others, I know that I might be wrong and welcome new knowledge if and when it is shared from a reliable source. In anycase, there are ways to pass information or facts across without resorting to verbal abuse or tribalism which is so typical of nairaland. |
Guys, this is 2017. There is no reason for unnecessary arguments. Ondo state has the largest coastline of any state in Nigeria. You guys were lucky you were not kidnapped over there...I hear that LGA is dangerous... |
softMarket:There is no need for you to make arrogant statements because you were more fortunate in life. You think there is anyone who would love to wallow in poverty and misery? |
Dear NLders, Finally, I am at the roofing stage of my small building and I am considering using Nigerite products as against imported longspan aluminium from China cos I believe they are just of higher quality. In any case, are there any Nigerite dealers that can provide a quotation of the different products? Thanks. |
Wondering why most people are quick to react negatively. These phones are less prone to security hacks than most smart phones. Even Obama does not use smartphone without modification ie. BlackBerry, Sectera Edge etc. As for DJ cuppy sharing a picture of the phones, I guess she is just having fun and maybe embarrassed about why her dad would bring out ayeraye Nokia to receive calls at an event. Anyways, na their life. If she had shared indomie and geisha, some people go still dey provoke... |
Hi, Get 2 postgraduate degrees: an MPH (is tremendously helpful in management of healh programs or projects) and an MBA. |
Nawa o, 1100 for 1x12. I hail all u guys building in the city. Its a lot cheaper here. I think 800 naira from the sawmill and the guy still swindle me small cos he sabi me. |
akeensbussy:Thanks a lot bro |
akeensbussy:You are the greatest man right now on NL. This information will definitely help me save cost on the wood cos the useless carpenter was already saying my house will consume almost 500k for wood like say na holiday resort i dey build. The only challenge i have with bundle aluminium is all the ones i have seen are rusting just like corrugated iron sheets. Please if you habe any other sweet ways of saving costs, please share with the house. Please whats d unit of measurement for the 2x12 (feet, inches etc)? |
nursevee99:Sorry to digress but is there an issue with erosion on your plot? If there is, what have u done so far to mitigate its impact on your building especially the foundation? |
L dotedote:If you want to move into your home by then, you can save costs by saving money on the wood with some advice shared by the OP about getting 2x12 wood and then cutting it into 2x2, 2x3 and 2x4 sections. From me, i think you can go for the cheapest roof now (you can change it later when you are financially bouyant), complete plumbing work for kitchen and 1 toilet and if you can the electricals. Once you have done this, the house is livable. You can take your time to do the rest once you move in. |
My brother, congrats o. I love the fact that you are on top of your project so you dont get ripped off by these artisans. I once had someone supervising my house but once i noted he wasnt doing a very good job and i was spending a lot not achieving anything, i let him go and got on top of the project. Even though its my first building, i have learnt so much just reading from posts on NL. |
There is a fundamental lack of logic in the way our currency market operates. The CBN sells forex to banks at 'x'; the banks then sell same forex to BDCs at a profit, lets say, 'x + y', where 'y' is profit. The BDCs then sell forex to consumers at 'x + 3y'. This defies logic and so long as status quo is maintained, people would continue making billions from round tripping, and corrupt politicians would continue receiving bribes with forex bought from the unregulated black market. President GMB needs to address this problem. So long as there is an unregulated black market, Nigerians would keep buying forex at prices determined by BDC operators. |
@OP there is no issue especially if transactions on the account have been at that level. The worst is they will place a No debit order on the account but its easy to resolve at any bank branch once you answer a few questions. Had a similar issue in 2013 and it was resolved immediately. You have no reason to worry so long as the money is not from 419. |
donhils:Signaling customers cannot protect all of us from these sharks called traders. Someone knowledgeable in this field could enlighten us on what we can do to get the right authorities to step in and take action. This is the only way to see the change we want. The demand for sub-standard goods not only promotes dumping of sub-standard products into our market but also creates an excessive demand for forex to import goods not fit for any market except for the African market. |
Why are Nigerian traders always looking to rip off customers. I almost got scammed when buying a Nokia phone. Before paying, I decided to double check the phone so I took out the battery to confirm the correct model number was printed on the inner panel (passed). I inserted the battery and powered the device only to be welcomed by a chinese tune instead of the nokia tune we all know (failed). I entered a code to verify phone model (passed). Finally, I checked the ear phones and charger. The ear phones looked cheap and the charger was like the NGN250 chargers with red lights sold on the road with no microsoft or nokia embossed on it (failed). There was also no slot for a memory card although that was a feature printed on the phone pack (failed). That was how I dropped the phone and left. Its just sad. Eventually, got into another shop where I bought an authentic phone. When I asked him why traders were stocking fake phones, he said the quality of phones stocked was basically due to demand (sales). The fake phones were priced at about half of the original phones and most customers did not see why they shoupd pay more when they could buy a "china" version. All the same, the practice of importing sub-standard goods is wrong and SON and others are sleeping. They should be probed. |
battleaxe:Yeah...well, its not too bad. Can always re-bid in another 2 weeks... |
Placed a bid of 15 percent for 91 days. Lets see how it goes... |
Informative thread except for the childish tribal comments and the obscene display of 450k by someone. I wonder when the quality of content on naira land will surpass Quora. |
